Atlanta Chefs Are Giving Mushroom Its Moment in the Spotlight | Eater Atlanta

"A north Georgia, family-owned mushroom farm that grows species like lion’s mane and shiitake for restaurants across the Atlanta area; while local fans visit its Brookhaven spot for small boxes of shiitake, the operation produces at scale for the dining scene, posts recipes such as mushrooms au gratin, and—according to co-founder Howard Berk—has seen chefs increasingly adopt mushrooms as meat replacements or enhancements." - Danielle Meinert

This was our first time trying Mellow Mushroom, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We ordered the house special pizza. We both wanted more marinara sauce on it, but, overall, it was delicious. The pizza crust had the perfect texture and taste.

Brandon is a phenomenal manager. I had no issues, but if I did, I am certain that he would have catered to my every need. Not to mention the man is handsome. Very attractive conventionally and spiritually. The bartender Audrey was exceptional as well. She made all of the drinks perfectly and provided a warm and inviting atmosphere.

We are on our way to visit MLK Center as a family and decided to stop by Mellow Mushroom for a late lunch on a relaxing Saturday afternoon. 😄 The hostess gave us a special room to ourselves with the trains and train tracks overhead near the ceiling! We really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the space to ourselves! We ordered the Pretzel Bites, the House Salad and the Spinach Dip for appetizers and they were delicious. I will personally prefer the Pretzels Bites' dip to be thicker but it is yummy regardless. We ordered a large Pacific Rim Pizza with original crust to share, as well as Avocado Hoagie, Cheeseburger 🍔 and the foods are good! We really enjoyed the wonderful service provided by our waitress and the other staffs including the hostess. We appreciate it! Will highly recommend!

A big thank you to the staff for working through the winter storm! The two cashiers handling both carry-out and online orders were outstanding, delivering exceptional customer service despite the heavy crowd. With Mellow Mushroom and Waffle House being the only two open restaurants during the storm, we walked to Mellow Mushroom to dine in, but the wait was understandably longer than usual (given how busy they were). We decided to order takeout instead, and it turned out to be the perfect dinner for a snow day. The Merry Prankster and Pacific Rim pizzas were absolutely delicious—well worth the wait!

Google
Simply delicious pizza! The waiters here are very friendly, and our food came out quite quickly. The sauce is sweet and tangy, and the crust is very crunchy. The small size is great for a personal serving! This is a great spot to get together with friends and enjoy some quality pizza!

Google
So we ordered a pizza and wings. We are at the hospital and hadn’t eaten anything good in a couple days. My daughter normally gets pizza from here so we figured this was a good option. We get the order and she opens the pizza and there’s mushrooms on there. She doesn’t eat mushrooms, ever. Then my son in law and I got 20 wings to split. 10 mild and 10 spicy. Neither were spicy and they all were burned and soggy. It was disgusting.

Yelp
I sat at the bar waiting on my small pizza for 45 minutes & never got it. They did not charge me for my drink but I worked all day & just wanted a small pizza. Bad service at the bar too! -went to Publix/got frozen & cooked at home...so disappointed / not going back there ever!

Yelp
One of my go to lunch spots in Brookhaven and a really great Mellow Mushroom location. Traffic on Peachtree can be heavy with the new city hall project, but park in the back and you should be fine. I park in the back and come in through the patio. This place is never crowded, the service is always super fast. First off, it's pizza so that's a plus, everyone loves pizza. Second, it's Mellow Mushroom Pizza. If you are not familiar with Mellow Mushroom they call it a "higher order" of pizza. I guess you could call it a New York style, but it's not really. The crust has a bit more lift and texture than most New York pizzas. Not a stuffed crust, not too bready, but just right. It's Mellow Mushroom Pizza. I have been enjoying Mellow Mushroom at various locations for over 40 years now. It's always good. And they have some great lunch values. If you are on the gone and solo at lunch as I often am you might not think pizza. After all you can't eat an entire pie and you don't want to carry around leftovers. But Mellow has some great lunch specials. Today I got the $7 pick two. I got a house salad and a slice for $7 and that includes a drink. If I am feeling extra hungry I will get the $10 special which comes with an entire small pizza and drink. Great lunch, great service, great atmosphere, great value. 5 stars all the way.

Yelp
3.5 Stars, the quality was good enough, but the service took longer than expected, especially for take out. I have visited a different Mellow Mushroom Location in Florida, and that one stood out more to me. The pizza was good but a bit cold, and the Garlic Bread+ Spinach Artichoke dip were just okay.

Yelp
First time here after seeing it for years. I love the uniqueness of the brand and the robot outside is very cool. Plenty of space to sit inside and out. The staff was very mellow as well lol. We sat outside, the menus were very sticky but the service was fast and friendly. I tried the bruschetta and the buffalo pizza. I hadn't tried bruschetta before so I didn't know what to expect. I will say, the toasted bread was a little soggy but the flavor was great. The pizza was really good! No complaints there. I only wished I ordered a large. Not mad at all, I'd try it again

Yelp
A great chain! This location is in a cute little plaza. Depending on time of day, parking can be a bit of a challenge. On my latest visit, my mom and I dined outside. I regretfully did not jot down his name, but our waiter was a soft spoken, polite young guy who was very kind and attentive. The food was as delicious as always. We shared our usual: an enlightened spinach salad and a holy shiitake pie. The salad was crisp and nutritious. The ingredients are: dried cherries, diced apples, house-made glazed pecans and authentic sheep's milk feta cheese on a bed of fresh spinach. It's perfectly tangy and tart with a touch of natural sweetness. As for the pizza, it's: Olive oil and garlic base with roasted shiitake, button and portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella, Wisconsin Aged White Cheddar cheese, fresh chives, shaved Parmesan, garlic aioli swirl and a spritz of black truffle oil. It's so flavorful and perfect. I crave it all the time. It goes without saying, we will continue to patron this spot as well as the various locations you have across the country! Thank you for serving us!

Gregory H.

Yelp
Good quality as usual however you need to be on a diet if you order the Italian Sandwich 1/2 (my fave). Talk about Shrinkflation....ouch. Taste as good as usual. I have been ordering this since their founding. They served it on the much smaller plate to give the illusion of a full "1/2" serving. Won't be ordering this again. Sad sign of the times??

Yelp
This was an interesting pizza place. We tried three pizzas: the Great White, a half pepperoni and half sausage, and a beef taco. The classic flavors were the best. The taco pizza had a pretty bland taste, but I'll admit I'm picky when it comes to taco pizza since I grew up on the original version up north. The crust on all of them was delicious, and the staff was fun and welcoming. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Yelp
Eight years ago, R and I had a not-so-stellar experience at this Mellow Mushroom. I have a pretty good memory when food is involved, so when R asked if I wanted to eat here, my stomach was saying, "Yes, I'm borderline hangry!" At the same time, my brain and taste buds were saying, "Heck no!" In these tug-of-war situations, my stomach somehow always wins. Surprisingly, the free parking lot shared by a Chick-fil-A (with no drive thru) and Mellow Mushroom (and in the near future a Fox Bro's BBQ that's still in under construction) was on the empty side. Being on a Wednesday afternoon at 3:15 pm probably had something to do with less customers being there. Walked into the restaurant and saw the overall Alice in Wonderland theme that plays throughout the restaurant. Apparently I remembered the food but not the decor and wondered out loud about the visual theme. R told me about the unconfirmed rumor that the author of Alice in Wonderland wrote the story after experiencing drug induce highs. Uh ... ok. If you don't think too deep about the decor, you'll be fine and just see characters from Alice in Wonderland, including Alice seemingly floating through a picture frame (maybe escaping through a looking glass?) near the host stand. Booths and tables are in the main dining area, and there is a large covered/umbrella'd outdoor patio with a whole lot of tables. We were welcomed immediately by Sybille, our server who added to our great dining experience, by being very quick, efficient, patient, knowledgable about the food, and checked in us a few times during our meal. She sat us down at a booth near the main entrance, gave us menus, took our drink orders and offered a few suggestions after finding out that we hadn't been to a Mellow Mushroom in years . The menu has a variety of different items. Anyone, even vegetarians, should be able to find something delicious here. R and I decided to get a medium House Special Pizza and a regular sized House Salad, both for us to share. The House Salad was fresh looking and delicious, with onion, tomato, black olives, a mix of greens, romaine and cucumber. We were each given a small plastic cup each of bold tasting vinaigrette salad dressing. While enjoying our salad, our medium House Special Pizza was delivered to us piping hot! According to the menu, this is "The Ultimate Mellow: red sauce, mozzarella, topped with pepperoni, Italian sausage, ground beef, honey ham, applewood-smoked bacon. black olives. sliced mushrooms, Roma tomatoes, green peppers, sweet onions and the finishing touch.., more mozzarella." This pizza was nicely packed with all of the toppings, but the bacon was sinfully crispy and mouth watering delicious that I even considered ordering a double bacon pizza next time. I highly recommend the House Special Pizza! We devoured both the pizza and the salad, although I have to admit that our stomachs were stuffed full when we left the restaurant. We definitely be returning! If you go, I suggest seeing if Sybille is serving when you arrive and ask if you can be seated in her area if she is there.

Yelp
I had the best time with my friends at Mello Mushroom! Davis did an EXCELLENT job with accommodating us and provided great service. I ordered the jerk chicken hoagie (without pineapples because who eats pineapple on a sandwich) with Vickies barbecue chips and sweet tea. The hoagie looked very healthy and dry and I thought I would be disappointed but it was so flavorful. I then ordered a drink, Campfire Peach, because it sounded sweet and I like sweet drinks. I didn't bother to look at the description of the drink, just chose based off name alone. When I was sipping the drink, it was great but I noticed there was a kick to it. I just assumed it was the spiciness from the jerk chicken lingering but I looked at the description of the drink and it had jalapeño in it. If I had saw that before I ordered the drink, I wouldn't have ordered the drink because the only thing I like spicy is food but glad I tried . They had trivia on the night we went which was pretty cool. I believe it's every Wednesday night. I loved the drawings at the host boost. They were so cute! I really enjoyed my first time at Mello Mushroom and will definitely be back!

Yelp
I had a great experience at the Brookhaven Mellow Mushroom! The host was exceptionally friendly, the restaurant interior was well designed and appealing, and our server Lily was super sweet. My brother and I got the Funky Q pizza and it was delicious and (to the surprise of anyone who has ever been to a Mellow Mushroom) came out super fast! Admitingly, there weren't a ton of people in the restaurant so I can't speak for the establishment on a busy day, but overall I was really impressed. Oftentimes service establishments struggle to marry the carefree bohemian vibe with quality food and speedy service (efficiency and carefree don't often make a pretty match) but this Mellow Mushroom seemed to do it well.

Yelp
Mellow Mushroom #2 on my quest to rate all of Atlanta's Mellows. Brookhaven Mellow Mushroom is top notch. Food was quality, the seating arrangement was super zig zaggy which was neat, and the signature Mellow statue was larger and more imposing than most. Yes, I do take Mellow Mushroom sculptures into account when I review Mellows. Like most Mellows, this Mellow Mushroom looked to be run by a healthy mix of high schoolers and 30-something convicted felons, but that didn't get in the way of our experience. Will come back for sure after I'm done reviewing the remaining 37 Mellows in Atlanta.

Yelp
The average for this place is 3.4 and that's about right. I'd give it a 3.5 We started with pretzel bites and beer cheese. They were good and filling. Enjoyed them and would recommend. I got a small pizza with a couple toppings. It was a good pizza. Better than some and not as good as others. But it came nice and hot The service was really good. She didn't tell us her name but she hustled. They were understaffed, she was working hard but slow to get to us because she was so busy Nice atmosphere. Half pizza place. Half sports bar Worth a try and I'll be back to try again.

Once again, Stellar! Love my Mellow Mushroom pizza! Two smalls tonight - dinner with Pops and he's heavy mushroom and light on sauce-blasphemy! Yelp
I went there on a Wednesday night for trivia. I would met up with a friend who was already sitting at the bar, I joined her once I sat down the bartender. Candace came over with an unpleasant face through the napkin in front of me and asked me what would I like to drink at that moment? I was in disbelief because I never have this happened to me before and it felt really uncomfortable, so at that moment, I decided I wasn't ready to order. I was undecided on whether I wanted to stay, and most importantly, her ability to be professional went out the window .My friend said I'll order a drink for you. I really didn't want her to do that because that would not have made it better. She came back a couple more times with the same unprofessionalism and asked Are you ready to order? Those were her words I said no. I will never return and I don't recommend that place. I have been to the one that Piedmont Park the one in Northlake and everyone there was super nice. This is not the first encounter with this young lady, but it will be my last.

Yelp
I bought a meal and beverage at Mellow Mushroom. I requested no ice. The waiter brought me back a glass that was not full. He explained why. They put the same amount of liquid in the glass as you would if they filled the glass full of ice! Either way you don't get a glass full, ice or no ice. The drink was $5.25. The manager signed on the reason. He offered to put some club soda to make it bubbly. I told him that would make it week. So apologies at all.

Yelp
Took a group there for the evening we ordered pretzel bites and wings which were really good, and 3 different pizzas. It was good and our waitress was very patient with our group.

Yelp
I've been coming here for about 2 years now, and overall I can say it's a 4. The pies are consistently good, as expected from mellow mushroom, and I say this as someone who has ordered takeout and dined in numerous times with them. It's got spacious indoor and outdoor areas, with a partially covered patio and umbrellas offering shade outside. When it gets busy service can be slower, and I've also had a couple of less experienced servers who don't get everything right. Usually it's fine, but don't count on a quick bite during peak hours.

Yelp
I came here on New Year's Eve to have a nice sit down dinner as this is one of the few restaurants in the Brookhaven area to be open until 10pm tonight. The dining area is huge and is filled with ton of tv's. This is probably one of the nicest Mellow Mushrooms that I have been to. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the Steak and Cheese Hoagie which was amazing. I opted for the Salt & Vinegar chips which were overly salty. I am definitely not getting those again! Lol But I really enjoyed my hoagie. Appetizers that I tried were the cheese bread and pretzel bites. Both were delicious! I can't wait to come back again to try out more stuff. This place is highly recommended as it's more than a Pizza joint. Enjoy the attached photos!!!

Yelp
Two words to describe this restaurant - unorganized chaos. I ordered a small and medium pizza for carry out online on a Friday night at 6:10 PM with a pick up time of 6:40 PM. I arrived at the restaurant at 6:45 PM. After a couple minutes I told one of the three women working the pick up counter what my order was. She started walking all over the kitchen looking for it. Quite honestly, she looked lost back there. Came back up to the counter and said nothing to me so I just assumed it wasn't ready yet. After a few minutes, I talked to a second woman. She goes into the kitchen, comes back and says "I think it's in the oven." What her face said was "I have no idea if it's in the oven or not." Another 10 minutes goes by and the original woman says that it should be coming out of the oven in the next few minutes. I will say the restaurant was very busy. The pick up area probably had 10+ people standing there waiting for orders. I saw some lucky ones who actually got their food, some who got part of their order, and some who were told it would probably be another 10 minutes. I continued watching the time go by with no sign of my order being ready any time soon. The original woman said she was going to check on my order again to which I replied that it had been 40 minutes. She came back and said it wasn't ready. I said I need a refund then. She gave my ticket to a manager. I watched him walk over to a register away from the kitchen. I hoped he would come back to the pick up counter to give me my refunded receipt so I could leave but no. On his way back, he grabs a random bowl of garlic rolls and then starts trying to figure out what table they were supposed to go to. The woman at the pick up counter comes back and asks if her manager had been over. I told her I've seen him walking all over the place but he hadn't come back to the counter. She goes and has another manager process the refund for me. Had it not been for the email that came in to tell me that my refund had been processed, I probably would've wasted another 10 minutes standing there. I left and at 7:40 PM was on my way home with Chick Fil A. The reason I included the screen shot of the refund email was because of what the manager wrote as the reason I was requesting a refund. "Customer no longer wants order: customer says order not received." Refund processed at 7:31 PM - 80 minutes since the pizza was ordered and 50 minutes after it was supposed to be ready. 45 minutes wasted standing in the restaurant. Yeah I no longer wanted it...

Meba Z.

Yelp
Service was great. Was greeted by friendly people. However the pizza was disappointing. It was very undercooked. We got a large pizza that cost us $35 and either the cheese or the dough was undercooked.

Yelp
Sydney was the best server. She truly has a heart of gold! She helped my friend and I when our phone was dead and ordered us an Uber. True kindness.

Yelp
I like this Mellow Mushroom located in Brookhaven Station, next door to Hudson Grille and across the street from the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe MARTA station. This is an old-school and popular Atlanta-based pizza chain that's known for its satisfying pizzas and laid-back, colorful, and funky atmosphere. We had a good experience at this location which has been around for well over a decade. This is one of the more spacious Mellow Mushrooms I've been in. With all the TVs in this place, it doubles as a sports bar and is a worthwhile alternative to Hudson Grille next door. Inside, there's a sizable bar and dining room, and a semi-open kitchen. Outside, they've got a fenced-in patio with both covered and uncovered portions and wrought-iron furniture. The covered portion has fans and TVs. The uncovered portion has umbrellas. We sat on the patio with a large group of about 20 and it worked out well. Parking can sometimes get tight at this plaza, but you should have no problems finding a spot. Pizzas are sold in three sizes: small (10 inches, 4 slices), medium (14 inches, 6 slices), and large (16 inches, 8 slices). During our visit, they ranged in price from roughly $10 for a build-your-own small with 1 topping to $26 for a large build-your-own or house specialty pie. They have about 10 specialty pies and over 40 toppings to choose from. Aside from pizza, they offer apps like garlic cheese bread (about $5 per order), oven-roasted wings (6 varieties, 5 for $6.49, 10 for $10.49), salads (about $4-12 each), calzones (about $9-13 each), sandwiches, burgers, and wraps (about $8-11 each), and desserts like Frios Gourmet Pops, cookies, and brownies. The beer list is fairly extensive, with many beers on tap, plus several wines and cocktails. Lunch specials are available Monday-Friday, 11am-2pm. There's live trivia, with prizes, every Wednesday night at 8pm. My fiancee and I split a regular-sized chef salad ($8.99) and medium-sized Holy Shiitake Pie ($20.49). I also ordered a Bell's Oberon Ale (16 oz pour for $6). I enjoyed everything. The chef salad was made with romaine and iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, red cabbage, onions, cucumbers, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives, Roma tomatoes, mozzarella, provolone cheese, and ham. Mellow Mushroom has 6 all-natural salad dressings to choose from. We went with their signature Esperanza dressing because my fiancee really likes it. This was my first time having it. It was great. It was like a creamy, garlicky, herby dressing. The salad came in a tall bowl with each set of ingredients placed together in sections. We had to mix everything together. All of the ingredients were fresh and the quality was fine. I highly recommend the Holy Shiitake Pie. It's the best pizza I've tried at any Mellow Mushroom location to date. The flavors were excellent. The pizza has an olive oil and garlic base, topped with roasted shiitake, button, and portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, and mozzarella and MontAmore cheeses, finished with a garlic aioli swirl and a spritz of black truffle oil, and garnished with fresh chives and shaved Parmesan. A couple of the staff raved about this pizza. Not only did it taste great, but it looked and smelled great too. When it hit our table, one of our tablemates said she'd be ordering this pizza the next time she goes to Mellow Mushroom. One of our friends ordered the same pizza, but she got a small, personal size for herself. It did not come with as many mushrooms, ratio-wise, as our medium-sized pizza, so that may be something to keep in mind. The Holy Shiitake was very rich in umami flavor. My fiancee described it tasting almost like a "dessert pizza," but I wouldn't go that far because I associate dessert with sweet. When it comes to flavor, it definitely packs a punch though. I enjoyed the Bell's Oberon Ale. I'm not a beer drinker. The menu said it's an American wheat ale from Comstock, Michigan (5.8% ABV) with a "refreshing blend of wheat and light fruit aromas, with citrusy and herbal hop notes." Service was good. The staff we interacted with were nice, attentive enough, and we received our orders in a reasonable amount of time. I'd come back to this location. Mellow Mushroom was founded by two Georgia Tech grads in 1974.

Yelp
Mellow mushroom is a chain restaurant; however this location is a fun one! We really enjoy coming here on a night out. When we don't feel like exploring Atlanta, we come here for comfort pizza and drinks. Our favorite pizza is the Thai dye without onions, although in a few occasions our order is messed up and we end up with onions. The staff always corrects it or compensates. Every waiter or waitress we've had has been friendly. For drinks, I usually stick with the sunset in paradise; it's fun to drink. I've also tried their margarita, which did not disappoint. Overall, nothing but nice things to say about this location.

Yelp
I have hesitated to order from Mellow Mushroom due to the lukewarm reviews. On a recent trip to Tuscaloosa, my friend ordered two pies for takeout and I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. We decided to try our luck in Atlanta and see if it was the same. On a Sunday evening, both the Emory and Decatur locations were experiencing delays, which made the online ordering process really difficult and annoying. I opened Grubhub and typed in Mellow Mushroom and this location came up for anticipated delivery in about an hour, so we went for it. We got: House Special Pie (small size) with regular crust BYO Pizza (small size) with regular crust, red sauce base, onions, and roasted red peppers The subtotal came out to about $30 which I thought was a little much based on the small size of the pizzas. The house special had a ton of toppings, and was really filling, so we both ate our share and had some left over. We agreed we would definitely order again and we are especially interested in trying the thin crust!

Tonya N.

Yelp
The pizza was good however, the post service is unacceptable. I have never ordered a salad and had to ask for salad dressing. Usually You're asked what kind I would like. To pick up my own order and get back to work and not have salad dressing was disappointing.

Tyler C.

Yelp
Placed a call-in order for two pizzas. They said they would be ready in 20, and it ended up being more like an hour. When it was finally ready, one of the pizzas was ice cold. They need to get their kitchen in order.

Yelp
Mellow Mushroom is always my go-to for pizza whenever I want something other than the typical Pizza Hut/Domino's/Papa John's -- I always felt that Mellow Mushroom does it a little better. I ordered take-out for a small backyard bbq wings & 10 hot wings crispy. I arrived for pick-up. One thing I noticed was the cashier was chatting it up with I'm assuming her friend that were seated at a table. I was not bothered by this as it was close to closing time but there was a line and eventually she noticed and came. Food was solid as usual. Wings weren't really crispy but it's a pizza place and oven roasted - they were still pretty solid so it was fine. The place looks really big with HUGE patio seating -- maybe when the weather gets nicer, I will come to dine in hereb

Yelp
When I last reviewed this location of Mellow Mushroom, it would be an understatement to say how frustrated I was with the parking situation on Trivia Night. Lunchtime on a weekday isn't a problem. Just definitely will avoid peak evening time meals here. I came on national pizza day (where they did not have any promotion happening). You can order by the slice, as well as some lunch combos, such as a pizza slice plus salad, which is exactly what I did. I ordered a slice of pizza with some salad, in hopes of finding some "healthy balance" with my meal lol! Pizza here is solid - crust is crisp and thin while there's a good ratio of sauce to cheese and other toppings. I'd never really had issues about the food here! I'm glad Mellow Mushroom has consistently solid pizza - just hope that their parking situation can be fixed on their busy nights, particularly on busy nights competing with other restaurants and shops in the plaza.

Yelp
It's okay. The staff are nice. The to-go orders are fast. When I order a half and half pizza, they don't put the drizzles on or have them on the side. They've done that both times I've ordered (via phone) so I assume it's on purpose. The people who took my order didn't say anything or ask. Kind of a bummer because (based on the menu) it's not exactly what I thought I was ordering.

Yelp
The food is average. The service is HORRIBLE. It's run by a bunch of teenagers who are inattentive and dirty. Please don't get yourself a drink, touch your phone then go touch my food without gloves or washing your hands! We ordered two entrees and two salads. One entree came out, 10 minutes later a salad came out. Typically, you get your salads first... We then waited another 20 minutes for the pizza and finally another 5 for the last salad. Why didn't the salads come out together? One person was completely finished with their meal before the other persons food even arrived. We went the entire time without water or drinks. Absolutely terrible.

Yelp
This place is located in a cute little shopping area. It was very lively with lots of kids and TVs with sports. The pizza was very tasty. we had a mighty meaty and a house special.

Yelp
You can find this Mellow Mushroom at 4058 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30319 in the same shopping center that used to house the Meehan's, across and north from the MARTA station. There's a Hudson Grill in the building across the way and parking is around back or to the side of the shopping center. This is a typical Mellow Mushroom with the very familiar mushroom guys represented around the walls and exterior. The pies here are consistent with the other locations for this local chain - I think it's probably the best local chain using good ingredients on a sourdough wheat crust. On this occasion we went split a small Greek salad with Esperanza and had a couple of pies. For me I don't really care what's on the pie but the more meat the better and if there can't be meat, how about some shrooms and jalapenos? The beer list here is good but pay attention to the frequent pint draft specials - lots of local craft there. Service is good but perhaps not great. This is one of those places where the service goes downhill when it's super busy (expected) or when they're really dead (unexpected). If there are a few tables early on weekend evenings you'll get the best service.

Yelp
Sydney was the best server we've ever had. Absolutely phenomenal. I've never seen such a peppy server and it's honestly a breath of fresh air from the usual experiences I have. The food was incredible and came out timely as well. Justin, the manager on duty, came over to check on us and ensure we had everything we needed. We raved about the service we had and he was ecstatic. Will be coming back!!

Yelp
Jeremy ROCKS!!! He took GREAT care of us! This man deserves a raise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Hey Y'all- Brookhaven resident here to give a shout out to our local Pizza and great sports bar- be Mellow and be appreciated! Justin and David are exceptional pros with customer service in F and B- they know this establishment, and how to take care of their people (customers), but- this is a place from ownership on down that understands how to be caring stewards of first class product and service- you need to hang with these wonderful and dedicated service people- you will have a blast and want to come back again- just trust me to give them a shot- you will thank me for this suggestion!

Yelp
......20 years ago, this was the place to go for pizza, but it's gone downhill since then. Picked up a couple pizzas for a birthday party. Pie was mostly crust, very light on the toppings. Plus it was barely warm when we picked it up. I'd recommend Costcos pizzas over the Mellow Mushrooms if it's take out. Better pie and they still cost about $10! Plus you don't have to tip at Costco.,

Yelp
I placed a to-go order over the phone, show up to pick up the pizza, only to find out they "lost" the order. This happened not once, not twice, but three times. I waited over an hour to then receive the wrong order. The service is TERRIBLE. Other locations are much better. I am shocked this restaurant is able to stay open.

Yelp
I can only speak to their To Go orders, but it's an amazing Mellow Mushroom! Our order is always correct and prepared promptly, and the staff is kind and professional. Salads are always a part of our order, and their lettuce and toppings are consistently fresh. We love to order from this spot because we know exactly what we're going to get.

Yelp
Order two tempeh hoagies. One of my hoagies had a ball of hair and the second one had a huge chunk of meat. When I spoke to the manager Maria she kept saying she can see how the meat can be in the food because it's cooked on the same top but said she doesn't know how the hair can be in there cause no one has black curly hair and they wear nets. Even started to ask me to send a photo.. Was a bit offended because I'm not hard pressed over $30. It's the principal that I'm home, settled, ready to watch a movie and now I have no food. She did offer to make the food herself and refund. She also stated she will issue a credit. Look at your food when you order cause I'm grossed out and not sure if I'll ever use the credit.

Yelp
I've been a few times since my last review and it's definitely much more efficient! Always great pizza - that was never an issue at this location! Glad they worked out the service kinks!

Yelp
If you have been to one Mellow Mushroom, you have been to majority of them! This particular location is located off Peachtree Road in Brookhaven, same complex as Hudson Grille and Sugar Shack. I enjoy this location quite a bit as they have a good amount of indoor seating, but also a great covered outdoor patio area that features a couple of big screen televisions! And...this location is an official FSU watch location, so they have my heart all the way around! (GO NOLES!) Just as the other locations, the pizzas are solid, the calzones are excellent and the cheese bread is delicious! While pizza is of course their main staple, they serve a variety of items from sandwiches, salads, dips to burgers. As they are most known for the pizza/calzones, I can recommend the Great White and the Mighty Meaty. Those two are specialty pies and are worth every cent! In addition to the food, they have a full bar that features a decent beer list (bottled and draft), along with some cool cocktails. They often run specials on their pints, so keep an eye out of those, especially on game days. Price wise, they are in line with specialty/local pizza places around the city. A large pie of the specialty variety could cost you around $22-25. Which is not bad considering the size and overall quality! Overall, I have been to multiple Mellow Mushrooms around the country and have always been a fan. Again, this location holds dear to me, so I like it a little more than all the others!

Yelp
Mellow mushroom is consistently mellow mushroom. Good pizza at good prices. Family friendly. We went on a Monday evening and the group ordered the curry chicken salad and pretzels to start. Both were yum! Also enjoyed was the jerk chicken sandwich.

Yelp
So disappointed. We order from here for work functions normally. I was craving pizza so I decided to stop in and order a cheese pizza.... When I arrived the restaurant was totally empty ...(no line nothing) Despite this the staff failed to greet me or acknowledge me standing at the counter. I waited 15 mins before being serviced. No how can I help you, I received a what you want...In a rude tone... Even a manager came by to assist with my order and they were just as rude. I took the pizza to go and it wasn't too great, even my 12 year old wouldn't eat it.... Ive never tasted nasty overcooked expensive pizza until I ate this. My family and I wont return. SKIP this PLACE if you want good service and good food.

Yelp
Mellow Mushroom has some of the most original (and delicious!) pies around. I have a particular fondness for the Pacific Rim: Mellow red sauce with mozzarella, ham, bacon, caramelized onions, pineapple and jalapeños. They also have some affordable wines and I love the new small salads. We had some major issues service-wise when we first started coming to this location; while the service is never perfect, I feel like management and the staff has really tried to up their game lately. I miss the Muffaletta Bread appetizer; here is hoping that dish makes a groovy come back.

Yelp
Last night J was getting back from a business trip and we needed to debrief about events of the last few days - you know, the usual . . . a friend's funeral, job issues, problems with the fams . . . so pizza was clearly in order. Since I'm bunking in Brookhaven, we settled on MM. I hadn't been in ages - and forgot that on a Fri around 6pm there are TONS of kids and families running around - fortunately it wasn't too bad last night. We found spots at the bar and had a good meal. Made our own salad - mixed greens and romaine, tomato, mushrooms (olives on the side for him) and the tasty Esperanza dressing. Then I convinced him to try a pizza combo that I used to get all the time- sausage, mushrooms and artichoke hearts. At first he was skeptical, but I knew he'd come around because he likes meat on his pizza and he knows I'll pretty much never steer him wrong on food choices (when you eat together as much as we do, and have been together a year plus were friends for years before, you kinda pick up on each other's eating habits!) . . . he loved. Good service, though not bar staff that used to be there and with whom I was familiar. Casual night out. Nice to be nearby again!

Yelp
Excellent service and fresh food. I love this place! Small pizza and seasonal strawberry and pineapple salad.
