Trying to appease all different palates is hard. The adults are the easy one, but it's the kids who make it tough. There were plenty of other places I would have loved to have gone to, but in the end, it was all about making sure the kids would eat. So Mellow Mushroom seemed to be a good choice. They both like pizza. Little did I know that my daughter seems to favor Papa John's, and only had one piece. I tried some of hers, and I can't believe she could choose Papa's over Mellow. We had ordered a large cheese pizza, and wow, that is like the grande at Starbucks. It was massive. I mean, I am sure this would feed about six people. The crust is nice, soft, but yet crispy. It was so good. The only downside was the amount of sauce, because I like a lot, but sure that could have been accommodated prior to the order. I had some salad with pecans and feta cheese, and cherries. The balsamic dressing was very good, and I really liked that the amount of toppings was plentiful. Usually places like to skimp on things like nuts and cheese, but not here. The dried cherries were also a nice touch, because I rarely have that as an option on my salad.
Moving backwards, we had started with the pretzels. We got the pretzel bites, and the whole pretzels. One came with beer cheese. Now I don't drink beer, but somehow you put that with cheese, and dip your pretzel bite, and you've now got a mouthful of goodness. I also love the marinara sauce that you can also dip your pretzel into. Very good, and comes out warm. It's a carb lover's dream. I honestly could make a meal out of the pretzels, but was feeling guilty, so I added some roughage into my meal.
They have beer, wine, and drinks, which is a great asset to any restaurant. Good service, too. I can't say it's gourmet, but it certainly cures anyone hungry for some good carb loading.
