Mellow Mushroom Williamsburg

We dined at Mellow Mushroom in Colonial Williamsburg during our visit and really enjoyed the food. We grabbed lunch around 1pm on a Saturday. The pizza was really good, and the wings were just as delicious. Once service got going, the staff was friendly and made sure our needs were met. The downside was the wait. We waited about 45 minutes to be seated We were told that we would be given a text message when our table was ready. But while we were waiting we observed the staff come out and call verbally for parties by their name on the host list. We never received a text and we did not have our name called. My husband checked the link from the first text we received to review our spot in line, which showed that our table was ready but we were never called and didnt get a text prompt. So glad we checked, or we may have gotten skipped over. It took another 15 minutes before anyone came over to take our drink order once we were seated. Overall, the food and friendly service made up for some of the delays, but the long wait time is something to be aware of when visiting.

The best pizza experience I have ever had. Pizza is amazing. We tried the pizza rolls and thought it was great. We loved dipping the pizza bites in the sauces. I also ordered the meatballs with tomato sauce and it reminds me of my Great Grandmother Genito's. That is very rare praise!!! Definitely Go.... I wish we had a Mellow Mushroom in Plattsburgh,NY I can't say enough how good this place is.

Amazing food got my food first and then i ate it amazing ate it so quick i got so full so delicious would recommend if you come here for a trip don’t recommend the chicken hogi long wait my fatty friend had to wait and got their food last

I’ll start this with I am a very easy going person. I’m very considerate and rarely complain. This place is one that I'm definitely not coming back to. Started off with me and my boyfriend walking in and seeing the hosts. Right off the bat we were standing there for a couple minutes waiting for one of them to say something. You know “welcome in” or “what we can we do for you” instead they just kept talking to each other. After a couple seconds I just went up and said “hi is this where you get a table?” Which then one of the hosts said “ummm yeah we have tables”. Found how she said it was very rude and thought I was polite how I asked. The other hostess was very sweet that brought us to our table. Our server was great. Was waiting for my boyfriend’s food for longer than we wanted to but not the servers fault. Then we got his hoagie. I attached a picture. The picture is literally after maybe two bites by the way. After he took the crazy amount of lettuce off. Again I don’t ever complain this is honestly ridiculous. Waited way longer than we should’ve for his sandwich and there was barely any meat on it and he said it did not taste good at all. For 13.99 I find that kind of ridiculous. From a tourist point of view I would just skip this place if I were you. Not the worst in the world but definitely not coming back.

Awesome pizza, calzone and pretzel bites.

Not as fancy as the Richmond one, as that was what I was expecting. Food is good. Gluten free pizza still left me feeling hungry tho.

All pizzas available on gluten free crust!! Awesome wings, we got ours naked with sauces on the side. Small pizzas are perfect individual pizzas, but could be shared.

Delicious food, Very fun vivid interior, Great service,, just had everything I wanted to get from this type of restaurant. Love this place!

BEST PIZZA EVER! The restaurant is so pretty and clean and love the theme and absolutely amazing remarkable and unbelievable and the staff is friendly caring and loving and always fast and gets your food out fast and absolutely amazing! The pizza is made fresh everyday and fresh ingredients and wonderful and unbelievable and so delicious remarkable place and so beautiful and perfect for all ages and unbelievable and love it so much fun and relaxing place for all ages and they sit you right away and I come here a lot when I see my best mother in law so much and always fun and we catch up on everything with my fiancé and awesome menu! Love it so much when I crave for pizza I come here and they make any size pizza you want and love it so much. Definitely come with friends family employees for any meal and they order out and do delivery and etc and make sure you thank them and be nice and patient kind with them and they work so hard and making everything fresh delicious and perfect on the menu all kinds of flavors and relaxing cozy and peaceful place and fun of full and smalls awesome when you come in the door and spectacular! We love Mellow Mushroom! This spot is in a great location and always very lively. Our food and drinks were good! We've been here a couple of times and have had good experiences with every time. It wasn't super busy, but we had a hard time getting our waiters attention for the bill. We also got serenaded by a band asking for tips. We love the pizza, the ambience, and the location! A great option for tourists to share a good sized pizza with the family! The little area it's in is also next to an arcade!

For those who want a bougie bite of pizza, mellow mushroom has steak to top off your pizza cravings! There are also fresh pressed juices with turmeric and pineapple. It's perfect for a family gathering, team outing, or solo date! The pizza is fresh, cheesy, and has flavorful bread. My favorite thing about this pizza was the variety of toppings offered, ranging from spinach to grilled onions , or steak. Loved that! I'll be back for another order of pizza and fresh juice! Great place to eat and spend time with family. The food was amazing, and the service was exceptional.

I have to admit what Drew was to this place was that their outdoor patio was heated, dog, friendly, and open in early December. We were so pleasantly surprised by the fantastic list of spirits, and how delicious everything we ordered was. We started with a couple of cocktails, my wife had an amazing Manhattan or several, and I had several whiskeys. Our first food item was the magic meatballs. They came with a delicious array of really flavorful sauces and they were well spiced. We finished the night with a small pepperoni and a small shiitake mushroom pizza. Both were delicious. The outdoor outdoor seating was warm, spacious and they even brought water bowls for our pup. 10 out of 10.

I was here 2 days before Thanksgiving. Place was packed. Squeezed in at the bar. Staff did a great job holding it together through the non stop orders. The shiitake mushroom pizza is the way to go.

I was going to order online and they let me stand there and order a custom pizza - and when it arrived they gave me plates and silverware and napkins so I could eat in my hotel room - so thoughtful! And the pizza was delicious! My mom does not like mushrooms and even she liked the Holy Shiitake pizza.

After a good day with our grandchildren in Williamsburg it was time for dinner. We were in search of some local fare but the long waits were prohibitive so with MM close at hand it won. Our server was Sydney and she took good care of us. We ordered a large half and half cheese/pepperoni, my wife and I ordered a salad to share and drinks. The food came pretty quickly and it was hot and delicious. Thanks to the staff for their good work and the kitchen for a delicious pizza. Next time we'll order a medium the large was almost too much. MM is always a treat. We'll for sure keep it on the menu when we get back home to KY.

The only reason it's not 5 stars is because we did sit there for a little bit before someone came to greet us and although when our waitress got to us, she was VERY sweet and took care of us... the front desk staff acted as if it was a bother that we were there. Not just us, everyone that was ahead of us also. Not greeted with a smile or anything... just a "how many and do you want to sit inside or outside"... The cheese bread was some of the best cheese bread I have ever had. Not the sauce with it tho. It was a little bland. I got the white pizza with half grilled chicken and half shaved ribeye steak and this was probably one of the best pizzas I've ever had. My kids Mac n cheese was cold, but she is a kid and was ready to eat so she didn't mind... but I did because it could have at least been a little warm. We were just visiting Williamsburg for the day but it was a cute area to be in and we will be back. The pizza was so good that we will be back for the pizza again and just hope the people that work there will be happier to be at work.

The food was amazing! I had the clouds nine wings, and they were exceptionally. I'm really picky when it come to wings. Very impressed. I had two drinks the peach fuzz, which was good, but too sweet for my preference.

Don't know if their food was any good because we couldn't get in to try it. No reservations taken and you couldn't get on the wait list until you show up in person. Also, the noise level was off the chart. Doubt if diners would be able to have a normal conversation. Of course maybe we are too old for this restaurant as we are in our mid 30s.

Absolutely delicious. I had the Special Pepp pizza and the flavor combination was such a joy to shove in my mouth.

The Mellow Mushroom offers interesting pizzas in addition to traditional pies. It's also a fun place with cool atmosphere that plays off the Beatles Yellow Submarine song. We started with the Pretzel Bites, which we got for free by signing up on their website. The bites were more like pizza ends. For pizzas: We enjoyed the Kosmic Karma, which reminds me of an elevated Margarita Pizza, with pesto replacing basil leaves. We also had the Steakhouse Pizza, which contained steak, mushrooms, peppers, onions on a garlic and olive oil base. As a group of four, both pizzas were plenty for our table, and we took some home. Pies are more expensive than at a neighborhood pizza joint, but you're paying for creative food and a neat place to eat. The Mellow Mushroom is located in the Colonial Williamsburg area across from William & Mary, so it's always busy. We were lucky to get a table on a Tuesday evening in early December. Parking is nearby in the city's lots, and you can get 2 hours free by using Passport Parking in some lots, like the one on Francis Street.

Ate here again this past Saturday evening and it was busy but we still had good service and good food! Our food did not take too long for a busy night and our server made sure we had what we needed throughout the evening. Sat inside and it was loud but to be expected on a Saturday night. Booths and tables and fun wall art adorn the place. Food: Wings- very good Gluten crust pizza- also very good! Thin crust pizza- first time trying it and I really enjoyed it! Not too thin like a cracker but had little bit of a bite to it. Salad- very generous size for the large. Split it between 3 people. Regular crust pizza- also very good!

There is the daily parking fee because it is Williamsburg (even if disabled) This location has the biggest outdoor seating out of every one I have been to . Just like every other Mellow Mushroom i have been to but Super Busy . They do a good job to not cross contaminate for people with Celiac's . Pizza's and Calzones are always good and never greasy , salads are always fresh with crisp lettuce . This one is so busy it makes the service lack because they don't have enough kitchen space to get the food out fast enough . If you want that good old Mellow Mushroom food and don't mind a wait stop on in .

They don't have an option for no stars so I guess one will have to do. The manager Brittany Kirby ignored my emails and calls for two weeks while I tried to set up a dinner and when I finally tracked her down she was rude and dismissive on the phone. So that's 30+ people who won't be returning to their restaurant, and more if I have my way. Crappy service for sub-par food. See ya never, Mellow!

We came late Saturday night after a day out at Yorktown beach. I didn't grab any photos as we sat outside in an area of the deck that was kind of dark. However, the service was STELLAR. We had three families totaling 9 young kids, and 6 adults. Every server here was on fire, they did such an amazing job that I made it a point to let their manager know how impressed I was with their service. The food is solid here as well. Great location!

went with a group and had a great time. I recommend the pesto Margherita pizza (not pictured) but the one I ordered (pineapple bacon ham) was also good. Missing a star because it could use more sauce and the crust would be better with more garlic or some Parmesan.

Stopped here on a whim after a 3 hour drive. It was packed on a Friday night with about a 15 minute wait but we were able to sit at the bar and order immediately. Service was friendly and quick. The best part was finding out we could combine two flavors given there were soooo many options. Tried a small half kosmic karma half crazy q chicken. It was delicious, cheesy, crispy and filling. Cant wait to head back and try a few other things on the menu. The drink menu had a ton of innovative cocktails as well. Definitely a lively college vibe inside.

Favorite spot, in Williamsburg, gets busy on Saturday nights, but for good reason, servers a little overwhelmed, but do a great job keeping Pace, food predictably good just like all the locations wonderful downtown location, pretzel bites always a win! Enlightened spinach salad was amazing

Whoever invented the smash burger is a genius. 2 pieces of hamburger about the size of a quarter smashed into 2 paper sized patties that you can see through for $13.99 and the smash burger here was about the size of a slider and the side order of tots were burnt and looked like they were made 10 hours ago. The diet soda tasted off and something was not right about it. Spinach and artichoke dip and bread was really not good. It was one blob of cheese in a ball that you had to cut to chew. Anyway, I dont know why this place is packed but my guess is in the near future this all will change as they charge $35 for a large pizza with paper thin crust and not well made and prepared. Will not be back again. The only thing the was positive is our server was nice but definitely overwhelmed.

We love Williamsburg for a lot of reasons. Mostly because the food here is amazing. Whether it's small local establishments or chain restaurants the choices are great. With that said we don't have a Mello Mushroom in Maryland around us, so when we're in town this is a "Must stop" for Pizza. Normally I'm a "Pacific Rim" pizza guy but I figured I'd try their specialty limited time pizza the Taco Nirvana. Sometimes these kind of pizzas are overdone with flavor and toppings but at Mello Mushroom it lived up to its name as I was daydreaming bite after bite of this amazingly flavored pizza with just the right amount of enchilada sauce. I'm just happy I had some leftovers to enjoy tomorrow. Ps Please come to Frederick MD Mello, we love you

Waited a long time for my steak and cheese sub, the bread was burnt and too hard to bite, the steak was terrible and overcooked . We never go back to this place

Pretzel bites were fantastic. Pizza was just okay. Crust was flat, not the thick airy dough I'm used to from Mellow Mushroom. Asked for the pizza to be crispy, server stated ok but wasn't denoted on the check that way. Parking can be problematic as this location is in downtown Williamsburg. Although there is a public parking lot next to the restaurant, it was completely full when we arrived. Fortunately someone left while we were looking for a spot or we would have been in for a walk.

Food was delicious, atmosphere was loud, but not overwhelming, beer could have been colder, but was acceptable. All in all a greatly place to visit!

After being seated today our party of eight waited 10-15 minutes without being greeted. After bringing this to their attention we sat another few minutes after we saw two other smaller parties that was seater after us get their orders taken. It seems that there is one adult in charge at the hostess stand and she couldn't care less. Didn't care and didn't even attempt to apologize for the bad service.

We ate outside. The food was great. Our sangria was great. The tables that were dirty around us when we got there stayed that way until right before we left. And the woman cleaning them off dropped her cloth on the ground and then when she came back from dropping off the dirty dishes she picked it up and wiped a table with it. There were lots of bees out there too. We stayed. The food was good and we had fun but... we did question some of the outdoor space hygiene.

After a full tourist day in Jamestown and colonial Williamsburg, the Mellow Mushroom called our name- our pizza crave was huge and the restaurant was conveniently located. We were seated immediately (asked for a booth), and the menu had great options and choices- they def offer dairy free cheese, which was a plus in my book. We shared: Regular classic salad without cheese- good size. Loved their dressing options- tried the champagne vinaigrette (two sweet for my liking) and the balsamic- fabulous, great flavor! Medium thin crust pizza with sausage, mushroom, artichoke, and dairy free cheese. Flavors were on point- the sausage was excellent. Although the crust was cooked properly, it was too soft. I had to eat slices folded up. Be sure to check in on YELP for a free appetizer - -pretzel bites. A large plate of warm pretzel dough pieces topped with Parmesan and a side of dipping sauce. Yummy! Our server was sweet and checked in on us frequently. FYI- they do offer military discount, don't hesitate to ask.

We have been to this location several times in the past few years. Tonight, my husband's pizza was brought out but I was told "Sorry, the pizza oven ate yours. We have to remake it." My husband waited awhile and at my urging began to finally eat. He ate 2 slices of his pizza before mine came out. You would have thought they would have made sure to cut mine all the way through after the mishap, but I had to tear the pizza apart to separate the pieces. I was a little irritated that we only got an apology. If I was the manager, I would have made sure to bring out a few pretzel bites or something (not a full app) for free while waiting for the 2nd pizza to be remade. Then, after we were done, we had to wait quite a while to let our server know to bring the check. Luckily, they comped our drinks (iced teas) but we were never told this. It will be a long while before we go back. It was a pretty disappointing evening.

be warned it is expensive, and there will probably be a wait, (the last time when we were leaving on a Saturday night, around 6:45/7, the wait was up to 1.5 hours) but I love this place. I love that you can get pesto as a pizza base, and I get a small thin crust, half pesto based with whatever toppings I'm in the mood for and the other half the rim one and they put nice big chunks of pineapple on it. I would recommend not getting any oil topping on the pizzas because it gets very oily. I would also recommend getting the white pizza. The small pizza is like $17 but it acts as two meals, and you definitely can split it among two people. The interior is also super cute and colorful, and they have outdoor seating for when the weather is nice.

We had the best experience here! Ericka was our server and she was so kind, welcoming, and made us feel at hope and wanting to come back! The food she recommended was AMAZING to say the least! We got the parmesan garlic wings, bruschetta, and the mushroom pizza and I barely got any pictures of our food before it was gone! 10/10 recommend!!

Holy moly was I glad my husband asked us to have lunch here , he was so right this place was amazing . The ambiance alone was fun and inviting and funky , they had like a half car , they had a mini construction site it was definitely fun. Now let's get to the food. We got the mighty meat pie no ground beef and unfortunately they made a mistake and added the ground beef so what they did was shocking they not only discounted our check they also brought us a new pie . The accommodation towards there customers has earned them a customer for life . My little son had the kids pretzels which arrived with 2 large pretzel sticks and dipping sauce . Everything and everyone at this location was perfect . We would 100% go back !!! Oh and the best part to feed a family of 4 with drinks was under $50 so it's definitely worth going !

Had a great pizza with friends. The place is amazing in Old Town Williamsburg. Come early, parking lot by the restaurant is usually full. Use adjacent public lots.

This is always going to be one of my must-visits when I come to Williamsburg. I have loved this joint ever since I was a kid, and am always pleased. That said, I haven't been to the actual restaurant in many, many years. We were NOT disappointed. We came around 4:15 pm, and the wait to be seated inside was 45 minutes - so we sat outside, which had no wait. (Keep in mind, we came on the 4th of July.) The outside area is really lovely, with plenty of fans whirling that kept us cool. Moving on to drinks and food, I had two of the lavender groove lemonades, spiked, per the recommendation of our lovely waitress. We split a lil' Greek salad, pretzel bites with the spicy beer cheese, and then two small half & half pies - one with buffalo chicken and funky Q, and then one with half the Marley and half Holy Shitaake. The only pizza that was new to me was the Marley - a jerk chicken pizza. It was incredible. The rest of them are ones I had before- but I was introducing my partner to the deliciousness that is Mellow Mushroom, hence all the half & halfs. In my opinion, the Holy Shitaake reigns supreme but the Marley was a close second. I would skip the pretzel bites next time as they filled us up a bit before the pizzas, leaving us less room for pizza. We had plenty of leftovers. Service was great - our waitress was attentive and just really lovely, despite how busy it was. I appreciated her recommendations and everything went great. The wait times may seem intimidating, but I promise it's worth it.

The service was okay-ish. She did not bring all our food out at once, and I had a long wait on my food. I was served last and had to wait an extra 5-10 minutes for my food. It was super good though, and worth the wait.

Relaxing and casual atmosphere, pizza is great (thin crust), calzone is huge, bruschetta is delicious and beautifully presented; everything is reasonable priced. I highly recommend: the magic mushroom soup-you can't get it anywhere else. Topped with melted cheese and more mushroom. It's warm and creamy, great for a cold day. If you come on the weekend, prepare for 20-30 minutes wait. But once you are seated, service is fast. Parking can be a bit difficult around this area.

The food was very tasty. The pretzels were 10/10. The Holy Shitake Pizza was amazing. Cloud 9 wings were delicious. House salad was as expected. We also ordered the lavender groove lemonade spiked which is amazing for people who don't like alcohol. The peach tea was also very fresh and delicious. The only draw back was the service. The waiter was super polite but overall, the servers seemed to be unknowledgeable about the menu, particularly the vegan items. We ordered pretzels which came out after the meal, and we only received half an order of pretzels and then the second half had no oil or salt. The manager did come out and was super helpful and took the pretzels off. It was a beautiful nice and the outdoor area was lovely. Great environment.

Had a great lunch today at the mellow mushroom. Our server,Hazar, was exceptionally helpful explaining the menu. The menu was extensive. We settled on the lunch specials. It was a great deal of wonderful food. We had a cheese pizza and a steak and cheese hoagie. Both were very good.

Ok, sooooo.... this place was awesome. The wait would have been long, but they offered us a seat at the bar. They allowed my six year old there.... SCORE. We didn't have much time to eat so this was great. Not to mention the incredible bartender. We had a great conversation about everything and nothing all at once. The owner's whole vision on the place, college possibilities for my high school aged son, jalapeños... you name it, it was a show about nothing, but highly entertaining. The place is a decent sized place and located right smack dab in colonial Williamsburg (the reason we were there). But the highlight? THE DOUGH on the pizza. Not only were those suckers HUGE pizzas for the price, but that dough was so east coast delicious that I wish I had time to order another one to take back. I do believe there is also a location in Virginia Beach (where we were staying) but there were too many other things to do besides go to the same chain twice. I wish there was one here in CA. Maybe there is, but I have a feeling the dough might not taste the same since our water is so different than the east coast. Anyway, super chill spot, yummy and all around great choice for us. We got our pizza to go, so I can't really comment on service or ambiance, but our pizza was amazing! We moved to the west coast over ten years ago so it's been a while since we've had Mellow Mushroom, but it was always a favorite! It didn't disappoint! Just as good as we remembered.

Arrived in Williamsburg on a holiday and needed a bite to eat. Wandered over to Mellow Mushroom and was wowed! Being from Buffalo, I am pretty discerning with my pizza and this pepperoni and cheese did not disappoint! Excellent service and atmosphere AND great prices! Will definitely be back! Folks in my party could not stop raving about the pizza!

The service here was amazing staff were friendly, came to check in a few times, and overall recommend. the food was great but the dough is a little bit sweet because of the sweet and salty combination but overall the pizza was great and the overall ambience was super Awsome and funny. I would highly recommend this place anytime

Pizza was good - heavy on the grease but overall flavorful. Pitcher of Bud Light - beer tasted flat. My kid got a kids meal. Apple was brown. Pretzel was hard. Ordered him wings to take home since he was still hungry. He ate one and couldnt eat the rest. They were overcooked and absolutely terrible. One of the wings was smaller than my pinky. Id be completely embarrassed to send these out to paying customers if I was a restaurant. Completely pathetic between the kids meal and the chicken wings. What a waste of money.

We have been going here for three years, went last night with three year-old grandson, grandma and grandpa... Brittany was our server and so pleasant and so efficient and really wonderful to our grandson and us throughout the meal. The food was great we highly recommend the meatballs. We are never disappointed and I am Italian American and very fussy... We also had a mushroom sausage pizza which was very good. Plenty of food served at a timely manner. Highly highly recommend.

Pizza was good! Crust was slighting burnt on the great white pizza. We ordered takeout but we have sat inside before. It's always clean and servers are friendly.

Visitors to the area were had little knowledge about restaurants that were open on Monday nights. FYI there are few. Kinda fell into the Mellow Mushroom based on its location. Sat at the bar because table wait was 1hr+. Surprised to meet the bartender (Nurgal) and what a great first impression of this establishment. She made us feel welcome and was very fun to interact with along with the other couples at the bar. We will be back!

The pizza was very good and tasty great but a few things they could improve on cutting my pizza and make the entire cheese to fall all the way off my pizza.

Pizza is so good and the crust is so bubbly and crispy. Service is good at carry out I don't tend to eat in but nice place to get a high quality pizza for the family
