I frequent this joint often, alot of times by myself….I feel SUPER SAFE and welcome here. I love the staff and all the amazing music nights. As a vinyl enthusiast , my favorite night is MILKCRATE MOMDAYS! Record vendors are often selling vinyl!!

Cool decor inside. It was pretty crowded with a live DJ and dancing on a Saturday night and took a while to order drinks but my drink was great! 5/5 Mango & Sticky Rice - perfect amount of sweetness Two single bathrooms in the back were.

Really fun place to be - awes9me vibes and DJs playing donuts (45s/7" records)

cool joint to stumble upon but crazy small. theres a couple couches and bar stools but youd be lucky to get one at all and theres no where to stand that isnt inconvenient or awkward. they do have a DJ come and play live music though. they played songs i would have never gotten to hear on my own and was very enjoyable.

Strong pours. 90s r&b. Kind of crowded. Reasonable drink prices but not cheap.

Just discovered on walk and popped in for a drink. Door man super positive and welcoming. Great staff all around. Cocktails on point, divine. Clean. Happy place. And people were blissing out on karaoke.. loved it. Just wish it were closer to my neighborhood in laurel canyon.

A tiny hole in the wall place with a great vibe. The staff is fantastic. Love it!

Stopped by on Valentine's Day for a quick pre dinner drink. Ambience was very romantic with the low lights and lanterns. Ton of couples out that night so seating was scarce. However they were right about to open the space up for the dance floor. The bartender was great and was attentive to all the new patrons who were waiting to order. Drinks were made promptly and tasted great. They have a complete menu of interesting cocktails. The one I had was delicious and I really liked the little aesthetic touches of the chicharron. Would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area.

Say what you will about the area surrounding this bar (slightly sketch) but it's the closest late night bar to Dodger Stadium and if you're willing to take a walk down the hill (20-30 minute walk from the dodger "city gate" for an able bodied person) - is a great pit stop between the stadium and the A Metro light rail train in Chinatown. I always have a blast here and it's flooded with Dodger fans. The Service is always super quick and the ambiance is Dodger centric yet perfect for China town. Cocktail and beer bar, so no food. If I can, I stop here every time I come through. Tonight, the Dodgers clinched their Division and it was a party of Dodger fans celebrating their win over the Padres! Highly recommended! This is a dive bar with a lounge feel and it's a vibe! Great music with an extensive beer & cocktail menu, what more can you want? Great place to pop in for a quick drink or to start your night! Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

4+ small cocktail, bar, and lounge located on the outskirts of Chinatown. It seems like this place could get a little crowded later in the night, but I've been here a couple times earlier in the evening or later in the afternoon to meet up with friends for a drink. During that time this place could be really chill and the service is really friendly. They have a nice cocktail menu as well as some nice craft beers available. There's a pretty solid selection of spirits as well with a couple of rare bottles from time to time. Overall, this place is a great place to meet up with friends for a drink. Especially if you're going to other places in the area. It is in Chinatown so depending on the time of day parking could be a little tricky. I found some metered street parking close by.

Been here several times and it's a typical dive bar in Chinatown. Dim lights with lantern decor hanging from the ceiling which gives it a vibe! No servers coming around so you'll have to grab your drinks at the bar. This time we came in on a Sunday night and to our surprise it was Karaoke night! KJ was Kisser and she's pretty cool! Got a hot toddy since the weather was a bit on the colder side that night and it was delicious with a splash of bourbon, star anise and a cinnamon stick! Very festive!

Thank goodness this bar still holds it down for Chinatown. Drop in for Milkcrate Mondays for some good hip hop, soul, reggae, and funk and who knows what surprises guest djs may bring out. Bartender has some tasty cocktails on the menu if craft brews aren't for you. Love the decor from the lanterns to the vintage beer cans in showcase tables.

Melody Lounge is a chill, laid-back spot with a great atmosphere. The vibe is cozy, and it's the perfect place to grab a drink and relax with friends. They have a great selection of craft beers and cocktails, and the bartenders are super friendly and knowledgeable. The music is always on point, and the ambiance makes it easy to unwind. If you're looking for a cool neighborhood bar with a good drink selection and a relaxed vibe, Melody Lounge is the place to be. Highly recommend!

tldr: Welcome to pinnacle Wong Kar Wai vibes. Red lanterns, dim lighting, very cozy layout. Find a seat with a date or friends and enjoy. UNTIL the DJ starts spinning around 10:30, then be prepare to scream at your friends just to ask if they want another round. Can you even think anymore? Not really, all conversations essentially died when he pumped the volume to turbo. A real shame. -= P R O S =- -Such a vibe when there's no DJ, feels like 80s Hong Kong -Fortune cookie drink - open a cookie and see what you're drinking! -Parking is easy all around, well at 8p it was -= C O N S =- -Fortune cookie drink - it's kinda just a random drink on the menu -LOUD music -= Would I Return? Rating =- Possibly but for the vibe and before the DJ comes on. The drinks are standard. The fortune cookie option seemed like it was going to be one of a few special drinks but it pulls from basic drink options. I think I pulled "Gin & Tonic". When I asked the bartender before, he was more or less whatever about it. It's all about ambiance here and possibly running into Maggie Cheung and Andy Lau.

Chill, low-key beer bar in Chinatown. Kool little spot with friendly service and strong craft brew game, plenty of interesting stuff on tap. Melody Lounge has come up enough over several years that it has settled into a nice niche and vibe. Dee-jays come in to spin, there are karaoke nights, and the staff is nice. This is great for a happy hour stop, but it's also just right as a place to relax after dinner. Craft beers, records playing -- yeah ask your parents or elders what records are -- ultra Kool vibe with lanterns gently swaying from the ceiling, Melody would be perfect as a hangout with people you dig, or as part of a lounge/pub crawl around Chinatown.

Music was jumping, service was quick, great selection of beers, and easy to park nearby.

Drinks are ok but the vibes and the music they play is spot on. Nice spot to pregame at or for a night cap in China town.

I went on a Thursday night and there weren't many people which I really liked. It was a small but intimate setting where I can see myself on a date lol i was able to talk to my friend and have a chill time. My friend has came on a weekend and said it gets very packed and they have a DJ those days. Thought I'd share both experiences:) ++ love the big selection of drafts they have! very yummy!

This is regarding a very bad drugging experience I had here with one other. Went here on 9/8 around 11pm. They had a couple people spinning and some others standing around the dj booth. The person in question was one of the guys spinning - shoulder length hair holding a tote bag with a hat and sunglasses on. While we were sitting next to the booth, he asked if our drinks were one of his which didn't make sense because 1. It's obviously not a beer because it's a cocktail glass and 2. he didn't even have a drink in his hand at any moment. Someone else started playing and he was dancing & hovering over our cups and pointed while asking if it was his beer. I'm thinking that's when he dropped something in the drink because that was the only moment someone was near enough to us other than when I got the drinks directly from the bartender. We only had a cocktail between us two and ended up leaving. Each of us can handle our drinks and always aware of our surroundings and we couldn't figure out why the single, measly cocktail got us feeling so weird and out of it within a matter of minutes. If the owner of this establishment could offer any info on the person playing music that night could help out, it would be appreciated and help this from occurring to someone else that might not know what's going on and stop them from getting taken advantage of.

Haven't tried the food. The beer selection is eclectic and provocative. Be brave. Fortune favors the brave. This place doesn't look like much amongst a stretch of non-descript storefronts on Hill street. But you will appreciate its character once you pass through the curtain and over the threshold. I will let you be surprised when you go. The service is great and the bartender will give you subtle insight to what you may want to try... trust the advice.....and your instincts. Good times are waiting for you to arrive.

This is a pretty cool bar located right in Chinatown. They have beautiful Chinese lanterns hanging on the ceiling. The table decor super cute and in theme with Chinese dynasty type furniture. I will say that this spot is really small and they literally had one bar tender for the entire night so he was definitely busy! Some of the cocktails had asian inspired drinks and used Asian spirits. I got the love letter and it was delicious. It's a bubbly strawberry and ginger mixed drink. It is super sweet and so good that I am definitely coming back. They had a DJ going on all night so it's pretty loud and you definitely can't hear any conversations going on lol

food: i didn't see any food but there is plenty of drinks. I believe its a full bar and have lots of beer. I had a yummy hard booch and i dont even remember the flavor. pretty yummy. service: i usually go on monday nights with a buddy here. Service was pretty quick. ambiance: at night time it looks really really dope. they have red laturns everywhere lit up. There is a live DJ playing i believe from 9pm-11pm every Monday. Old school hip hop night i remember. Its pretty dope. parking: since it was on Monday nights, parking is cake.

Service is alright. Atmosphere is what I come for. Sometimes they got the dodger games on so that's fun. Live music is almost never an upset. Beer is good. Nice red glow in there, really sets a good mood for a cocktail.

Fun bar that hosts karaoke on Sundays. The place is small and floor plan is open, so if you're a brave soul and step up to the mic, expect a crowd (everyone was very supportive!). There's limited seating at the bar, but a good amount of table space in the corner, so we managed to grab a spot. The interior is dark, but it adds to the charm and allure. Of course, things get loud with karaoke going on, but not overwhelmingly so--manageable enough to carry a conversation. Good drinks and great vibe!

What a gem in Chinatown! Melody has a nice dive-y atmosphere that is perfect for a date or to chill with friends. Luckily for us, we happened upon this bar on KARAOKE SUNDAY. = L O C A T I O N = Parking is on the street. The interior of the lounge is dark and intimate, with pretty paper lanterns lending some mood lighting. There is a limited amount of seating inside, so get there early if you want to sit. = S E R V I C E = The bartenders were polite enough, but the true star of the show was the karaoke DJ. They curated the vibe for suuure. = D R I N K S = I loved the cocktails, most of which are Asian and Mexican inspired. I thought the mixes were innovative. They also have a large selection of draft and bottled beer, as well as some wine. Ultimately, so much fun energy here. I think every day has different themed music, and they even spin vinyl. Bles was the perfect bartender and host! I absolutely loved this place and would go back! The vibe is great, the only thing I didn't like was the pet friendly atmosphere. Personally, I do not enjoy animals in an environment where I eat or drink.

Cute little spot to drink kinda pricy cocktails and talk to the regulars. Very convenient to many of Chinatown's restaurants.

Game 1 of the World Series and they hired a DJ instead of putting the sound on. This is supposed to be a Dodgers bar. Unreal.

Great cozy place to chill and grab a drink. Bartender was super helpful and provided a sample of one of the craft beers for me. Loved the DJs music. The ambiance is such a vibe with all the lanterns. If you find yourself in Chinatown, check out Melody.

Great spot for pre-gaming and just a cross other great places like General Lee's and Grand Star Jazz club. A bit small, but definitely a spot that gets poppin'. If you're in Chinatown, you gotta stop by.

Lots of pretty lanterns that create a nice ambiance. It's a really small lounge; not meant for big parties. Probably won't stay here for more than an hour. They also have good beers on tap.

The drinks here were really good and really pretty. Outside looks a little deceiving, but once inside the ambiance looks really nice and there's enough light you can see one another, but dark enough that it seems private. The drinks came out right away and the service was really good.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Melody Lounge after dinner in Chinatown! From the outside you wouldn't expect it to look as romantic and intimate as it does inside. It's pretty dark so I will definitely come here for any dates when I got some pimples to hide (jk). I'm not sure when happy hour is, but it was still happy hour after my dinner across the street so that was another pleasant surprise. Good for smaller groups/dates as the place is intimate. I'll be back!!

Don't come here If you are immuno-compromised, disabled or covid-conscious. There is nowhere to drink your drink that isn't inside, where you will have to take your mask off. Very disappointing venue

Small bar/ brewery but with a great ambiance. They have a great selections of IPAs and cocktails. My group got seating right away - we arrived around 4pm.

Ambience was on point. They got a dj playing on a Wednesday and tasty beer options! Bartender was super chill too. Pretty awesome hole in the wall.

Love this spot and wanted to update my review to say that the melody lounge now requires you to show your vaccination card! I think this is awesome! You Can show a physical copy OR they have a QR code you can scan to bring it up! Afterwards they give you a wristband!

Service here is horrible. We were SITING at the bar for 10 minutes and they literally ignored us to serve everyone else. The female bartender just did other task in front of us after served other people here. We finally got our drinks from another bartender. The DJ here is also not that friendly, was our first time here so we asked questions about the karaoke rules. She was just giving us the look and feel like didn't want to have us. It's very disappointing of their service but honestly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

This is a super lowkey and inconspicuous bar in Chinatown! I don't think I would've noticed this place if I didn't find it on Yelp. They carry a pretty wide beer selection (more options than cocktails) and the IPA I tried was good! We went on a Friday night and the DJ was playing some old school vibey R&B music. Everyone was grooving to the music and having a good time. This bar kind of reminded me of a dive bar, but a little more elegant and mysterious.

I've been to Chinatown many many times and probably have walked by this bar every time and just never noticed it. Oh my, I can't believe i hadn't. This bar is mixing up some very creative drinks that incorporate the Chinese and Mexican flavors! This place was made for me!!!!! Drinks are fantastic! The beers have a great range! They even offer specials during dodger games, so you guessed it, this is totally a dodger fan bar. This bar is dark, like eyes dramatically need to adjust dark, except for the red Chinese lanterns hung from the ceiling, NOTE!! This is a very instagram-able spot. I loved this small bar and I will definitely be stopping here more often!

The bouncer was extremely loud and rude!!! We waited in line for 30 minutes and when we were at the front he let a big group in and asked us to move back but there was no space . And started yelling . He is representing Melody in the worst way!

I had been following melody lounge IG for a while and it looked good to hangout with my friends and have a couple drinks. So when it came to last weekend when I decided to go, it was NOT IT. I was standing in the corner waiting to order a drink for 30 minutes ! It's like the bartenders look at the floor and won't look at you. Please note this lounge is only one floor and it's a square room, with almost no seating . Drinks are quite expensive. For 2 drinks I spent $55 bucks! . Overall, dont recommend.

Love this little gem. What a great find. It's close to the ballpark too. They make fantastic cocktails. They have a great selection of beer plus a cider. It's air conditioned too. Highly recommend checking it out.

TO BE CLEAR, I'm the one who reported several whiners on here (and other local spots in Chinatown) because we don't want you losers running around our neighborhood anyway. I have no affiliation with Melody Lounge other than the fact that I live up the street and don't think it's fair to come on Yelp and bash a small business because you needed to publicly throw a hissy fit about how you couldn't get inside. This business has every right to request a vax card upon entering. Don't like it? Don't come. There are hundreds of bars to date in LA that require proof of vaccine before entering, and many more that currently DON'T require it. So how about just taking your business elsewhere and moving on? Anyway! Melody Lounge is great. The bartenders are always super nice and they have an extensive list of beers, drinks and even hard seltzers and booches. Always very clean and just a cute spot to grab a cheap drink without all the hype.
