"Melt was a gourmet grilled cheese house located in Mid City, which closed on June 22. Since its opening two years ago, it had added a rooftop patio, brunch, and cocktails. The restaurant was described as 'more polished and grown-up than just another place hawking the childhood staple' by Helen Freund in a review last year." - Stephanie Carter

For our first time there, it was great! The food was delicious, the service was nice and the whole atmosphere was fun. Great for a midday outing.

I want to love this place, I just can't. Several months ago I tried to call in an order for pickup since I work around the corner, but the person on the phone said they were down a cook so couldn't take to go orders. Didn't really make sense to me why being down a cook meant needing to go in - you're going to take the order either way, but whatever. I went in and ordered, then of course waited much longer since they were shorthanded. When I got back to the office, I realized they missed part of my order. I called in, and the woman was really apologetic and refunded my money. So points for that, I appreciated their trying to fix it. I went in today to give them another try - just for soup and french fries. The service was fine, but oh man...AVOID the fries. Not crispy at all even though they're skinny fries, and way, way over seasoned. They clearly don't know their way around a fryer. I do think they're a bit overpriced, especially considering the other lunch spots in the immediate area. All in all, very hit or miss.

Stopped by for quick lunch. Ordered basic cheese melt but added ham. Tasted great. Perfectly grilled, fresh bread, loaded with meat and cheese. Side salad was crisp mixed greens with delicious homemade vinaigrette. Lots of delicious food very reasonably priced.

Too expensive for what it is, and very slow service. Hipster/yuppie decor, not comfy. Sandwich was absolutely no big deal, small, and a little greasy. People posting good reviews must have had a lot of wine, which wouldn't be hard to do; it's really a bar with cheese sandwiches. Not impressed. For hipsters only.

Best, unique grilled cheese options, along with other options in Mid City area! Large place with tons of seating. Nice bar set up toward back of establishment. VERY CLEAN. If you work around the University Hospital, VA Hospital and all the new medical development in that area, then this would be a GREAT location for lunch or dinner! Super, fast turn over time! Definitely a great spot for expedited yet professional service! Also, if you are a visitor and feeling like checking out an area just off the beaten path, the Canal St. Street Car will get you within just a few short blocks away! There are several local dive bars in this area also! Don't be afraid to branch out and experience the MANY spots like Melt that New Orleans has to offer!

I have no idea what the food is like at this establishment as I never received mine during my lunch break. I went with some coworkers all of whom received their orders. I finally asked for my order to go as we had to leave to return to work. There was only one waitress, but that wasn't the issue. The person making the sandwiches was very slow. We all ordered sandwiches and it should not take a half hour to make 5 of them and an order of fries. Totally disappointing. Upon arriving back at work I finally got a chance to taste my food. Well, sort of. The sandwich I ordered, the Mama's Melt, had no "melt" because the cheese was completely left off of the sandwich. The tomato bisque was okay, but no better then I could get at Panera or other similar chain location. I won't be back.

Omg the sandwiches are so delicious! With the cold weather, I decided to try the tomato. I'm glad I did because I'm addicted. It had a delicious peppery taste and the perfect amount of heavy cream. I don't typically eat ham but the mama melt was yummy. I can't wait to go back and try more sandwiches!

Food was delicious. Beer selection, although small, was good. The cheese curds were great. Will definitely be back several times.
