Fun and delicious vegan cafe! My husband who hates vegan “milk” loved his latte here and said the coffee was very well done and the mill frothed to perfection where he didn’t mind the oat mill. Huge win for me! I had the matcha strawberry iced latte… I had too and it was as good as it looked. We also had a danish that was very tasty. I wish I had tried more of their food.

One of my new favorite coffeeshops in Portland! Everything is vegan, and the drink menu is HUGE. Many different creative options for hot, iced, and frozen coffee & tea drinks. They update their seasonal menu often as well! I don't usually repeat visits, but I've already been here 3 times! They have a couple pastry options, along with a breakfast and rotating lunch sandwich. The staff is super nice, and the decor is very cool! Definitely recommend checking this place out (try the cheez foam!).

My 8yo vegan son’s review: “There is very yummy food and pastries and there’s a lot of options. There are books for old and little and there’s funny cute things for kids. This is kind of like the Haunted Mansion. And there’s WiFi.” My additions: open and bright space, spooky but tasteful and not overdone decor, themed games to play with, a small selection of sandwiches with two specials, bagels and cream cheese, and very flaky croissants and puff pastry. Skull cakes are delicious. The selection of drinks is truly extensive and cutely named. Dog toys also available. Has a bathroom and a wall of local art for sale.

Roomy cafe w/ outdoor seating and a great atmosphere full of fun witchy/spooky/goth art and decor. Large drink menu with lots of creative names. We ordered the chaga drink, the iced Americano w/ caramel, and the Enchanted Pig sandwich. Everything was delicious! The americano came out kinda creamy instead of just like an espresso w/ caramel flavor syrup, which was unexpected but delicious.

Memento Mori has been on my list since the owners bought my black couch last year, and today I finally made the drive out from Vancouver. What took me so long!? It was well worth the traffic both ways— a gorgeous day out with plenty of people enjoying the outdoor seating. Parking is very tricky in this area, especially on nice days, but I lucked out on 24th Place (a dead end street off Vaughn). This was 11:40am on a Friday and the main streets were packed. Since I don’t cross the river often these days, I splurged. I wasn’t a big fan of the Zinnia (tbf I wasn’t a fan of the last ube matcha drink I got elsewhere so that’s likely a “me” thing), but the Ishtar was SO good! Seriously one of the best matchas I’ve ever had! I should have just gotten that in a 16 ounce. There were quite a few different matchas I want to try in the future, like the Sea Witch and Mystic Rose. If it weren’t for my dietary constraints, I’d try every goth-a-chino flavor too! The horchata skull was good, but nothing to write home about— I got it for the novelty and it paired well with my matchas. The Wednesday toast, on the other hand, was a stand-out! If this place was closer to me, I’d be going back regularly just for the Wednesday toast and a random matcha. The aesthetic is really on point here. I’ve been to a few goth cafes around the country, but none with an open layout like this. It was perfect for the hot weather. Sadly no merch (yet), but I think it’s really cool that they sell art prints and a few other things from various vendors! It feels very community focused. The customer service was outstanding as well. They weren’t super packed, but decently busy, so it surprised me how fast my order came out. The bathroom’s aesthetic was also great! They even have a baby changing table! They had water outside for the dogs as well. Thoughtful, charming, spooky goth cafe right here in Portland. The closest cafe to it I’ve seen aesthetically so far is Nocturnal in Monroe, MI, but their menu isn’t nearly as fun/themed. As an added bonus, they’re only a 6 minute walk from The Freakybuttrue Peculiarium. Easy date idea!

Absolutely love this cafe, i had an Ube skull cake which was delicious, an Black Dahlia Frozen Lemonade, and nice Sea Witch matcha milk tea! Love all the decor, art work and the vibes are just great here. There is definitely more things I wanted to try here!

Parking can be a little rough. I had an egg sandwich, and i couldn't even tell it was vegan. Staff was very attentive, and the menu was great. The food tasted fresh, and the art was pretty neat! They support local artists. There's free wifi, and lots of outlets for anyone who works remotely.

Yelp
This is the best cafe I've been to in Portland. I like the decor, which included a lot of cool art and there were interesting books/magazines to read. The service was great, they were very sweet and helpful. The food was also excellent. I got the vegetable panini which was delicious and full of flavor (assuming you like pesto and sun dried tomato). The pastries were very fresh. What I loved best though, was the fact that there were a lot of interesting and unique flavors for the drinks; I got the Flowers in the Attic latte because I love florals and this one is an example of it done perfectly: it tasted of flavors without being perfume-y. And best of all, it wasn't too sweet! I find a lot of flavored drink to be too sweet for my tastes and this was just the right amount.

Yelp
Really a mixed experience here. As Steve and I were browsing the neighborhood Memento Mori is in we decided that due to it's theme it sounded like a fun place to go. And it wasn't bad. It certainly is a popular place with not a whole lot of seating so Steve dashed to the last table to claim it. We already decided what to get. The sandwich menu had two sandwiches, one that had sourdough bread and another that had Rye. I also was looking at their coffee drinks and was drawn to their Horchata Latte so that didn't take long to decide as to what coffee drink I'd be getting. The coffee drink arrived fairly quickly and was very good. The horchata and the coffee aspects played off of each other very well. The sandwich came a bit later and we starred eating it. And it was good, no doubt about it but we got tge sandwich with rye bread and we wanted the sourdough. Now I know when this happens a person is supposed to go tell one of the staff members but we were on a time frame and didn't want to take the additional time for a new sandwich to come out... the one we were hoping to get. So I guess clear away some time and not be in a rush if you come here and that happens. But as I said, nothing tasted bad but aside from getting the wrong item the congestion of other customers making orders didn't really motivate us to correct this either. So when it is your turn to be rung up verify what you ordered to ensure that the order is accurate because I imagine most people if it's during a rush will be more frustrated waiting in order to correct what they ordered. As far as atmosphere goes it's pretty cool ad it kind of has gothic and dark art themes going on which adds a lot of charm to this place and makes it unique in that regard.

Yelp
Who doesn't love a spooky vegan coffee house? Memento Mori Cafe is located in a quiet area of NW, easily walkable from the bustling NW 23rd. It was nearly lunch time as I ordered an americano and an $8 slice of bread. Any place with a non dairy creamer option is alright in my book. The Maple Miso Butterscotch bread truly hit the spot. More savory than expected, the $8 slice was filling and worth every penny. Loved it! Great vibe, fun art, nice employees. Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely return and try more of the menu.

Yelp
I stumbled upon Memento Mori Cafe by complete accident and I'm so happy I did! This plant based coffee shop has a spooky (or gothic) aesthetic with a plethora of different latte/ espresso/ cold brew/ tea/ blended/ and non caffeinated options. Their plant based milk options are soy, almond and oat. They offer vegan baked goods and breakfast sandwiches as well. I had a breakfast sandwich on a plain bagel and it was hands down one of the best I've had in a while (I've been vegan for 10 years and trust me when I say Memento really did something). While I waited for my Gremlin latte and breakfast sandwich I wandered around to the art wall where local artists display their beautiful work which is also for sale. My order was out within a few minutes and staff was friendly! Memento has a menu that gets people wanting to go back to try something new. I can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Vegan goths of PDX, rejoice! This latest metamorphosis of Wicked Garden Alchemy is worth the drive and search for parking. Creative and delicious coffee drinks, delicious sandwiches and baked goods, and a sunny yet spooky interior vibe make for a great breakfast, brunch, lunch, or quick pick me up. The interior is a little confusing at first - you walk in to the pick up area. Hang a slight right and order at the back of the bar area then find a seat. There is one table inside plus some counter seats, and a handful of tables outside, weather permitting. Super fun decor throughout. Only one improvement i'd love to see is reusable cups/mugs for drinks. Our "for here" cold coffee came in single use plastic cups. Might be able to get a reusable mug if you ask when ordering, I saw some in the bus bin.

Yelp
A new cafe in the NW with a touch of macabre. I guess even goths need caffeine to get their day going. This new cafe is situated in the same building as the Kiva spa on NW 24th. Talk about a pairing, right!? The decor is surprisingly cute and welcoming, especially with the nice open garage door to keep the place brighter than the black themed interior. The lemonade I ordered (Creature from the Blue Lagoon) was the exact thirst quenching I needed after doing my laundry down the road. I would come back again for a caffeinated drink later.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! The huge drink selection was so nice ! As well as the yummy food options ! I came around 11am because I was craving coffee and chocolate cookie . It literally hit the spot ! I ordered the Crypt Keeper Latte (caramel, white chocolate and hazelnut ), Chocolate Cookie and also a pennywise lemonade (strawberry). The service was excellent and the owner was so kind. This is a vegan family owned business so I automatically felt comfortable when I was there. The decoration was also right up my alley, they have a spooky theme all year round! Definitely perfect for insta worthy photos . The coffee was so delicious and a perfect blend of flavors . The cookie was soft with a great amount of sweetness and my Strawberry lemonade hit the spot ! I will definitely be recommending this place !

Yelp
I was super excited to check this place out as it seemed right up my alley with the amazing vegan options and super cool atmosphere. My husband, our friends, and I went here over the weekend at around 12 and saw that most things were sold out. I think this is just a growing pain of the cafe due to its success and that part does not contribute to my lack of star rating at all. I was able to get a black bat shortbread and a madeline, both of which were good but I think overpriced. Again, not really impacting my overall rating. What did impact my rating was the horrible service. I just don't understand how people get customer-facing jobs when they are so miserable. The woman who rang me up was not friendly at all. Then there was a mistake with a drink order --which I have no problems with at all-- and when we went to correct it, the guy working there was so rude about it and basically blamed my husband for the mistake. I don't know...I've seen a huge decrease in customer service across the board and I'm finally speaking out against it because it absolutely does impact the experience and never makes me want to return again. That being said, the drinks were super fun and unique although they were kind of mid. However, I am definitely interested in trying it again and seeing if maybe they were just having an off day. When I do and if it's a better experience, I will update my rating.

Yelp
I really want to like this spot and have given it a few tries but I think I'm done. Two americanos ran me $15 (!) and consistent with the previous times I've been here, they tasted like nothing (not even sure how that happens?). I'm guessing they maybe ran the espresso shots for a previous drink and reused the espresso on mine? Can't justify the high prices and poor quality and wont be coming back.

Yelp
New coffee shop that took over where kiva used to be. Fun atmosphere, especially just in time for Halloween! My hellbore chai was delicious and very quick. Owners were nice and stuff pleasant. I love one new places move into the neighborhood!

Yelp
I snuck the Vegan Breakfast sandwich past my picky partner...and she loved it. Coffee was good. Staff were friendly. Decor was of the Goth variety and fun and quirky. We need more fun and quirky in our lives.

Yelp
I do not like waffles, but MMC has changed that! The best in house made compote and whipped cream I've ever had! Need to bring my momma as she loves waffles and I know she will not be disappointed. Every time I've gone in, the environment, the owners, anyone working has made it so comforting and they're super friendly! I'm such a picky girl and usually will ask a lot of questions. They really try to accommodate their customers. Every food item I've had has been killer! (Pun intended) It has become one of my go to's. If I go to that area, it's specifically for them. Trying to make it a goal to try something new every time, it all sounds delicious! Wish them the best success !

Yelp
This place is a very unique coffee shop! The vibe is definitely macabre and very fun. You'd expect to be sharing a coffee with Elvira or Dracula! I had an Americano, and it did not disappoint. Coffee was robust and very full-bodied. The place was busy and bustling, but the staff was still attentive. I will try a specialty coffee next time and definitely try a pumpkin skull. I recccomebd this place, especially if your vibe aligns with that of a witch or a warlock !

Yelp
The best vibes. Very demure inside! Gothic themed vibes all over. I highly recommend. Very nice and near downtown

Yelp
They just soft opened today Tuesday the 24th of September. They own a food cart Wicked Garden Alchemy and got their brick and mortar finally. Their hours are 7 days a week 8 am to 3 pm and have the best vegan sandwiches and coffee. Their desserts are to die for as well. It's an amazing cafe with plenty of seating inside and out and is pet friendly. The inside has been redone and the locals have said it's a welcome addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
I'm normally a basic vanilla latte kinda gal but definitely not here! There's so many colorful, tasty drinks to try! So far I've had the mystic rose (really loved the colors and the foam) and the mint chip gothachino. Can't wait to try the lemonades and food. The space is such a vibe, so many spooky details to appreciate. Lots of seating, especially on a sunny day. Service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
I had heard cool things about this cafe. Love the theme and ambiance, however... upon showing up the cashier seemed to be very annoyed to have to come out of the back while wearing her playboy pajamas to take my order. I was welcomed with "what do you want?!" and never a response to my bright "How are you?!" An iced Americano is typically $4-$6 NOT $7.75 and then be asked for a tip. Coffee was mediocre at that. I am happy to support all businesses but the prices and customer service here was terrible. Pretty sad as I was hoping this would be my new go to spot but there are much friendlier places with better coffee in the neighborhood without the theme park prices.

Jessica S.

Yelp
I absolutely loved it here!! I'm not even a vegan but everything here was AMAZING! The cool ambiance and decor was a huge bonus to the incredible food and customer service. I'm also very allergic to nuts so I usually can't have vegan food/drinks, but everything I had was nut free and delicious! Everyone behind the counter was so friendly and helpful, and I can definitely say this is my new daily stop! I loved the energy and service in here and I will definitely be back for more!

Yelp
The pastries and the drinks were delicious! The vibe inside is very homey and the decor is perfectly spooky. The staff were really nice and playful, plus they made our drinks so quick. 10/10 recommend

Brittney R.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying how incredible it is to see how popular this place has become! What started off as a small local coffee shop has turned into a huge success overnight. It is a family owned and operated business that makes all pastries in house which is incredible but that does mean they sell out very quickly. The customer service is amazing considering the fact that they are so busy and are packed with people with lines out the door! I empathize with the staff and how overwhelming it must be but that never changed the kindness i experience when i was there, the girl in the front was very helpful with explaining the menu to me. The pumpkin skulls are my absolute favorite and they have an awesome list of some of the most unique drink items i've ever seen. Highly recommend coming and checking them out just know if it's busy there is a bit of a wait!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Wife and I live in the area and noticed this place pop up the other day while walking around so we stopped in. The coffee was fantastic and the ambiance and decorations were cool. We had just eaten so didn't try any of the food but read through the menu and will definitely be going back for a meal. Great addition to the neighborhood!
