An absolutely excellent and underrated BBQ spot in Los Angeles! It's very unassuming from the outside and has a small exterior-facing front, but there is seating available inside the restaurant. You order at the counter for either dine-in or take-out, and they had our food ready for us in pretty much no time at all - like within five minutes! Everything was pipin' hot - so fresh and delicious!! We chowed down on a bit of it there before taking the rest to go. I LOVEEEED the mac-n-cheese here!! I'm a self-proclaimed mac-n-cheese connoisseur, so it can make me feel either positively or negatively about BBQ and other food spots. Well, I can confirm that the mac-n-cheese here does indeed HIT, and is arguably some of the best I've had in the LA area. Perfectly creamy, cheesy, but still not too heavy. LOVE IT! The rest of the food here is all excellent as well - perfect prepared pulled pork that I got as a sandwich. The beef brisket was also SO tender and delicious! I also appreciated the ample amount of pickles provided on the side - I love pickles while my partner doesn't, so I took all of them! What else? Oh yeah, the potato salad was also perfectly prepared and one of my favorites that I've had at a BBQ restaurant in LA! Great affordable prices, delicious and well-cooked BBQ meats & sides, and very quick service! What's not to like?! Needless to say, I highly recommend and will be returning in the future!

I have taken risks when exploring new restaurants, but this was beyond comprehension. This was, without a doubt, the dirtiest and most disorganized restaurant I have ever encountered. It’s hard to understand how anyone could eat here and call it the best place for BBQ. The state of cleanliness was appalling. The bathroom was filthy, and according to the last recorded cleaning date, it hadn’t been cleaned since 1/16/24. The entire restaurant looked neglected—trash and bottles were scattered on various counters, a cluttered and dirty desk sat in full view, and the back entrance resembled an abandoned car shop, complete with piles of garbage and even an old, black truck. The first thing guests see when arriving? Overflowing trash cans right at the entrance. The level of disorganization was shocking, making for an uncomfortable and unsanitary dining experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I sincerely hope the owners take immediate action to clean up and restore basic hygiene standards. Until then, I would steer clear.

My 6th time eating from Meme's, my first time picking up in person. Usually, my wife picks it up,or we get delivery. Any way you get it, it's worth it!!!! Hands down, the best bbq Brisket in town 👍Everything is top notch 👌 The ribs, the sides....especially the cornbread 😋 Try it...you'll like it 😎

Sweet people, the food portion sizes for the fries isnt bad, but my god there is little flavor. I assume maybe they had a bad day considering how good the reviews are but truly it tasted as if the only seasoning on the meat came from the BBQ sauce. Had to season the food at home unfortunately. Hoping this was just a bad day for the cooks.

The food and service were excellent. I appreciated how quickly everything came out and how well the smoked meats were prepared. You can taste the care that goes into each plate.

This place was recommended to us for their jalapeño cornbread but the food is also delicious. We went here for lunch and got the brisket and rib plate which came with bread and potato salad that we decided to share. We also ordered the cornbread which is tasty and not too spicy. The place itself is not fancy and about average when it comes to the price.

Unisex bathroom down the hall on the right. Got the Pitmaster combo for $24. Was ready in 5 minutes. The brisket by far was the best thing. The leg and thigh combo was huge almost like a turkey thigh and leg but it was chicken. Pulled pork was 2nd best then pork rib. I picked the Mac and cheese but next time would choose differently. Parked on the street at 4pm on a Saturday.

Just tried this place today after soo long of wanting to try it. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. By far some of the best bbq I’ve ever had! If your in the area and are looking for some good bbq, I highly recommend this place! Try the Pit master combo comes with a slice of some brisket that melts in your mouth, a beef rib, a pulled pork sandwich, a leg quarter, and a side. I ended up getting the mashed potatoes that had bacon bits and cheese the price fairly came out to like 23 something. Good prices and good food you can’t go wrong!

Parking: Hard, no parking lot available. There is parking at the front, but hard with incoming traffic. If you're here just to dine in for lunch and won't stay too long, but I parked in the Taco Bell and Pizza Hut parking lot... Interior seating there's about 4-5 tables inside the place. Shared between 2 people: Pit Master Combo w/ small side (Mac and cheese) + Ordered another side of a la carte rib: This was filling. I also had to take home leftovers because the portions were so big. Comes with rib lathered with vegan BBQ. I just wish the bones were slightly softer to chew, but overall, the meat was great. Mac and cheese was okay. I thought the mac and cheese would have a deeper flavor, but it's very light to complement the meat's savoriness. I love the two slices of the buttered bread. Pickles were more pickled with a soft texture and light sourness. Side 8oz potato salad: Love this side dish. Potato salad was refreshing and flavored enough to complement the bbq!

I believe I have found my new BBQ place! It's a small place but feels like you've walked into a friend's home. Julia greeted us, at first she seemed so serious, but as we talked she is super friendly and she genuinely is proud to serve you! She makes the food from the sauce to the salads! Potato salad tastes like I made it so needless to say, it was delicious! Now to the meats...omg! So delicious! The pork ribs are full of flavor! Not dry but juicy and so flavorful! The brisket was so tender and juicy as well. The sauce is amazing! You can choose the mild or spicy. I had the mild, very good with a nice tang. Usually, I have not been fond of bbq chicken from some smoke houses. Most places the chicken is dry and has no flavor. Not here! MEMes has managed to make it perfect! I truly enjoyed it! If you're ever in East LA, you have to stop by and try it!

Excellent BBQ we found in East LA. Ordered the brisket /ribs Mac and cheese. Excellent family owned restaurant and super nice people here. They really go above and beyond making sure the customers are satisfied. Indoor or outdoor eating. Highly recommend. Neighborhood a little rough. But it's East LA.

The place looks almost nothing special but the food quality and quantity are amazing. The taste can match some of the best BBQ brands in Texas

The Deluxe Sandwich was phenomenal. Juicy Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Coleslaw (which included pineapple). Sandwich was full of flavor. Great sauce: Mac and Cheese was could've used a little more flavor. Cornbread could've been without Jalapeño and with a side of honey butter. Loved the food and experience. Next time I'm in the area, I will be back!

I was looking for a new place for lunch and was in the mood for smoked meats. I decided to give Meme's a try and ordered 1/2 rack of pork ribs and a 2 meat plate (Pulled Pork & Brisket). The ribs were AMAZING, the smoke flavor was exactly what I was looking forward to. The BBQ pulled Pork was also amazing. The brisket was a bit tough for my taste. All in all, I was pleased with the food and the price is good for the food portions. Service was great, Chrissy is a sweetheart, and was really helpful. Can't wait to come back!

Well what can I say? Starting with placing my order, Julie called me when they were closed to take my order for my luncheon at work. She saved the day! The Ribs were so tender, the brisket was excellent and the pulled pork was awesome!! The sides were amazing, the baked beans were not too sweet , the cole slaw was fire and the mac n cheese was cheesy!! Everyone enjoyed their meal, thanks Julie and Christina!!

Grosss grosss, the smell was overwhelming. Server named phoenix didn't want serve us and have someone else helped us . Good was mediocre

The food was alright, nothing extraordinary; for $40, you receive a rib, some brisket, a half sandwich with pulled pork, two sides, and two pieces of chicken. Value as okay but the tast wasn't anything special

The wife and I came here on a whim and we weren't disappointed everything we super delicious the meat was soft and mealted in your mouth the brisket fries has a lot of flavor and a stacked plate, the chicken sandwich had amazing flavor and didn't have that dry feel, and the ribs what more can I say SOOOO GOOD, the Mac n cheese was good a little to watery for my taste the coleslaw had great flavor surprisingly it had pineapple witch I wasn't mad at. The seating is limited this is a small with a huge picture of Texas and they had a tv which is where I was watching the chargers lose . The service is first you order when you come in then you pick where to sit and they bring the food to you. No soda machine only cans sodas. This spot was super good a pleasant surprise the wife and I will definitely be coming back.

I'm a Midwest boy. Born and raised in Kansas City so I know my BBQ. I thought I'd give this a shot because I miss good bbq but I've been burnt at both ends (HA. BBQ JOKE) every time I try LA BBQ. Color me impressed. I got the pulled pork sandwich because it's my litmus test for most BBQ. If your pulled pork can't cut it, the rest of the menu will be awful. This was a solid sandwich. The portions were right. The sauce actually has flavor and spice which is what I love the most about Midwest bbq. I got it with a side of mac. Now the Mac I wasn't too impressed with. Kinda bland. But that sandwich hit the spot in a way I never thought I'd experience from an LA BBQ joint. I'll definitely be putting the rest of the menu to the test!

Loved ambiance of the restaurant, definitely reminded me of good ol Texas! The service was good as well, had the food hot and ready for me when I got to pick up my order. The sandwich was absolutely fire for sure! The meat was juicy and flavorful! The beans and the Mac were okay, the Mac and the beans were a bit runny but the food had great flavor to it. I'll definitely be back to try a few more items.

You MUST get down here and try Meme's. This is the nice mom and pop bbq restaurant you're looking for. Food tastes awesome The service is excellent but a little slow. But! You can't rush bbq. It takes 16 hours to smoke brisket. Give them 3 extra minutes to bring it to the table. Everyone enjoyed the food. 5/5 stars

The coleslaw was just a slab of mayonnaise .. very basic. The interior was pretty basic too. I just try the side orders. I wasn't really impressed.

Ribs, Brisket, marvelous! Peach cobbler is ok. Service was on point, parking is horrible, plenty of tables and chairs to eat inside or out.

So effin good. I got the brisket sandwich - the meat was just -- first, there was so much of it! And it was beautifully falling apart and flavorful and the bread/roll was perfect, even after taking it to go and the. getting caught up eating the potato wedges and baked beans first, the bread held its shell without being too hard. Everything was amazing. I will definitely be back!!!!!

Pops & the Fam never get it wrong here, such a sweet little BBQ spot that has a couple of outdoor seats. Their brisket is to die for and portions are great. My man and I love coming here

Always on the hunt for good BBQ so gave this place a shot. It was pretty awful, dry brisket and some of the worst sides I have had including watery Mac and Cheese and average to bland potato salad and beans. Will keep looking for a Bludsoes on this side of town

This is the best BBQ place west of the Pecos! I tried it for the 1st time yesterday and FOOD here is an authentic and excellent example of REAL TEXAS BBQ...MEAT, MEAT AND MORE DARN GOOD AND BIG PORTIONS OF MEAT! Run, don't walk to Meme's Texas BBQ. The seating is limited so To Go orders are your best bet. The prices are great for the amount of very flavorful food you get. And yesterday was their Anniversary so they were celebrating by giving away a free tasty pork slider to each customer! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MEME'S!!! Do yourself a favor and try Meme's Texas BBQ and you will be glad you did!

Wow. Just wow. I wasn't expecting to have that good of a dinner. The two meat plate is a perfect size. The pork ribs were super lean which I loved , the spicy sausage was spicy and juicy , and the pulled pork was super yummy. The sauce is amazing. Those cornbread are heavenly! Amazing service. The only 4/5 was the mac n cheese but I'm Not even mad tbh. Mac was okay . Just wasn't as good as the others. But was still a good addition. I would get the exact same order again .

Came here with high hopes based on reviews and the claim of "Texas BBQ". I didn't expect Terry's Black or Salt Lick quality but man this was bad. We got the brisket and pulled pork with baked beans and Mac salad. BBQ pork and decent flavor but was soaked in oil. The brisket was very very dry and didn't have much flavor at all. Also seems like it was leftover from yesterday and reheated on a pan. Sides tasted like something you got from a grocery store.

The food was great, with generous portions and friendly staff! Would recommend for some good bbq.

Food was not what I expected. I was excited to try it out at first but their ribs weren't that good. My Asian wife cooks them better! The Mac and cheese was way too salty! On top of that the ribs were burnt and the side of bread they give you. The price was cheap but I can tell why because they sacrifice quality!

The ribs were phenomenal! My son loved the beef rib plate! The service was friendly and attentive. The setting feels very homey and welcoming. Definitely recommend and will be coming back.

It was a late lunch (about 1:40pm) on Saturday. We ordered the chicken & brisket and the rib & brisket plates. We also got for sides: jalapeno cornbread, mac & cheese, mac salad and loaded mashed potatoes. The good... The ribs and chicken were well done. Falling off the bones and juicy. They also tossed in an end of the ribs as extra. The jalapeno cornbread was moist and flavorful. The mac salad was interesting with olives in it. The bad... The brisket was dry and not as tender. Although fall off the bone, there were a lot of burnt areas on the ribs that makes it difficult to bite. Also, the ribs were not as flavorful, not good rub. The mac & cheese was gritty... Not smooth. The meh... The loaded mashed potatoes had a lot of stuff in it (bacon, cheese) but wasn't a big deal or gives a good punch. The conclusion... I would go back for the ribs to check for consistency. Otherwise, this is just a decent backyard style BBQ joint for it's location.

Found this place on Yelp with pretty high rating so decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately it didn't live up to the ratings given by others. It's a small joint with a few tables indoor and two tables outdoor on the sidewalk of a pretty busy street. Street parking only. I came for to-go and for meats order a full rack of baby back and 1 lb of brisket. They didn't make sausage that morning which was a bummer. For sides, they were 16 oz of baked beans, Cole slaw, potato salad, and Mac n cheese. For dessert, they didn't have banana cream pudding so I ordered 2 peach cobblers. I also ordered 2 jalapeño corn bread The meats had great smoke flavor as the ride home, the car was filled with that smell as were my clothes. However, we were disappointed when we got home. What initially threw me off was when I saw them warming up the brisket on a flat top. I thought it was someone else's order like for a brisket sandwich but then realized the amount of meat was my order. Not sure if that is expected. The meats were dry. Both the brisket and the baby back. Flavor was good though. The sides were good but pretty ordinary. The peach cobbler and the jalapeño corn bread were misses. I thought cobblers were suppose to be in a pie shell but they use cake instead. Was not expecting that. The corn bread was very dry and you get like a thin slice for that price. Definitely not worth it for both. For true Texas BBQ, I would suggest Ray's or Bo Daddy.

We had a Cowboy theme party for my grandson.Texas BBQ from Memes was on point great ribs and Chicken,Mac and Cheese,Potato salad and I'm not a big fan of baked beans but these were really good! Only regret that I didn't have business cards, everyone loved and asked where we got the food!

Great BBQ in East Los Angeles. I had pulled pork which was really good and brisket which was pretty good. Had a side of coleslaw which was not my favorite, too creamy and had pineapple in it. I would take it to go. Place looks run down inside and a little dirty.

Hands down the best Bbq spot in the area. They came through last minute on Super Bowl Sunday when friends were coming over. Pulled pork, ribs, hot links, and jalapeños cornbread are crowd pleasers.

So good! Everything was super tasty. We missed out on the cornbread but they were really great in calling us and worked hard to change our order. We'll definitely be ordering from them again.

Some pretty good bar b que for East Los Angeles where the Latin culture is mostly present. Restaurant is dirty in the public area , so I am surprised they have a "A" from the Health department. I expected better but will visit again. Minus 1 star for dirty public area, even had to clean my table, luckily the sanitizer water and rag were close by.

Tucked away in a tiny spot on Whittier Blvd is this absolutely wonderful slice of heaven! This spot is a must! The meat is cooked to tender perfection with just the right amount of bbq sauce. I had the mac and cheese and the cole slaw and it was just like homemade! Made with love and you can taste it in every bite! The pulled pork and brisket combined with the Mac and cheese on the same fork is truly an amazing combo that I highly recommend! The coleslaw is excellent combo with the pulled pork, sweet and savory with smoky bbq flavor! The staff here treats you like family, nice warm welcoming atmosphere! Might not look like much from the outside, but trust me! This is a true gem and worth it!

Stopped in here tonight for dinner. They close at 6PM so get your food early if you plan on having it for dinner. The staff was very friendly and I only had to wait maybe 5 minutes for my food. I got the Smokehouse Combo + Loaded Mash while my Wife got the Brisket + Mac and Cheese. Everything we had tasted great. None of the food was dry, not even the chicken. The 2 sides we got were bomb. The Combos are probably big enough to share. All portions were very big. My only gripe is that the "Plates" don't come with any sides and they don't offer any kind of greens.

I bought the 4 piece bbq rib plate today. Really salty could not eat the ribs. Been there before and they used to be good. What happened. I wish I could give the food zero stars

Excellent comfort food, great bold and smoky flavors. I have not visited the restaurant but many thanks to Julie for helping me with a catering menu for 35 people. ...which was very conveniently delivered for a fee. We had BBQ Spare Ribs, BBQ chicken (incredibly good smoky flavor), loaded mashed potatoes (apple-wood bacon & cheddar cheese), dinner rolls, mac & cheese for the kiddos, plenty of extra BBQ sauce, and she also helped me with corn on the cob which came with plenty of melted butter. I recommend it all and can't wait to visit in-person sometime.

Tried out this little bbq spot with a couple coworkers. I had the pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese and the berry cobbler. Coworkers both had the brisket and rib plate with loaded potatoes. Very impressed with the servings. They don't short change you on the amount of food. The price is reasonable as well. We all agreed that the flavor of the meat was excellent. My sandwich probably weighed close to a pound. We were all glad that we found a good bbq place close enough for us to grab lunch. We will be back...

I was served old thinly sliced brisket that was dipped in boiling water to rehydrate it. It was terrible to witness and I thought this must be a mistake and for someone else. When I got home, I realized that the worst dish I ever saw prepared was mine. I was angry with myself for not speaking up in the restaurant! The other dishes in my order to-go were decent. But, I learned a lesson that day... Some people will serve you slop if you let them. I can't help but think that anyone that writes a Positive review of this place doesn't know what decent, good food is...

Food was excellent. Food portion was exceptional. Customer service a plus. We had ribs. Pork sandwiches. Mac n cheese n fries. Topped it off with peach cobbler.
