Memmo Baleeira Hotel Sagres

This is a beautiful resort with a great view of the working harbor. My room was not large but modern, clean and well equipped with a nice balcony overlooking the harbor. The bed was comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Especially the pastries, fresh fruit and juice selections. My ony suggestion would be to bake the bacon, (a common practice in the U.S. now) so it is crunchy and healthier). The exercise room is nice with plenty of treadmills. The spa is OK. The sauna was great. However, the steam room was not nearly hot enough and the floor under the seats was very dirty (I used it at 4 pm on a rainy day which might explain why). The indoor pool was nice though very shallow. I purchased a 60 minute massage which was very nice and reasonably priced. Other than breakfast, I did not eat any other meals in the hotel. There are plenty of good local restaurants within a short walk. There was plenty of private parking onsite. Lastly, all of the resort staff I met were very friendly and helpful.

What a magnificent hotel. Loved the staff. The breakfast was sensational. Two floor room with the most wonderful sunrise on water. Heated pool and grounds are perfect. The beach is lovely and so secluded, felt alone. Sagres has some nice walks and a few great restaurants. Felt like the most beautiful spot in Sagres.

We had a very nice time there. The hotel is furnished in decent and elegant way. The view to the sea from our room, the breakfast room and the restaurant is really nice. The staff was always friendly and professional. ||The breakfast was fresh and of a good quality. Cleanliness was good in all areas, we have seen. It was very quiet there. In less than 1 km walking distance there were plenty of other restaurants and bars. The hotel is located near the harbour, where one finds also a good diving center and organisations for boat trips… and last but not least - the coastline :)))

Great stay with amazing breakfast and beachfront location We spent six nights at Memmo Baleeira and overall had a pleasant stay. The breakfast was fantastic – a wide variety, lots of fresh fruit, delicious pastries, coffee, tea, and even a tea station to mix your own blends, which was a really nice touch. The dinner at the hotel was okay, but not something we would specifically recommend in Sagres. There are definitely better options in town. The service was mostly fine. Staff were helpful when asked, though sometimes they seemed a bit rushed or distracted. For example, we requested bathrobes; the staff member wasn’t very friendly at first, but the robes arrived on our room within half an hour. The location is excellent, with direct access to a quiet, beautiful beach. The hotel garden has beach chairs, perfect for enjoying the sun even on cooler days. We had a room with a balcony and sea view – the view was stunning. The balcony chairs weren’t the most comfortable, but it was still lovely to sit outside. Another highlight is the variety of activities you can book directly through the hotel. From surfing lessons and boat tours to wine tastings, there are plenty of options. We tried a morning yoga class for €22 per person, which lasted one hour, and it was a really enjoyable experience. The yoga teacher was great! Overall, Memmo Baleeira is a beautiful hotel with lots of highlights, especially the breakfast and beachfront setting.

This is a very nice resort at the very farthest west part of the Algarve. The resort itself is fantastic - our two-bedroom suite was enormous - two big rooms each with their own bathroom separated by a very large living room/dining area/ kitchen. Everything is modern, clean, and updated. The beds are extremely comfortable (with the exception of the pillows - cheap fiberfill - they did not have down/ feather pillows available either). My bedroom is on the corner of the hotel and looks out on the harbor on one view and has wall-to-wall glass wall/doors on the other spanning an equally long balcony. The service is top-notch and the restaurant is fantastic - I especially recommend their brick-oven pizzas. The outdoor pool is lovely with plenty of lounge chairs, a charming bar, and hedges, walls to keep the wind somewhat at bay. They have a small but uncrowded fitness center with a few machines and weights - I ran on the treadmill and did the elliptical (both of which were fine). The only downside is that it is quite far from the main attractions of the Algarve - an hour to Lagos, where the famous sea caves, cliffs, and beaches are. On the flip side, it isn’t nearly as crowded as the center of the Algarve. We went to the public beach in town (10-minute walk) and it was not at all crowded, vs the more central beaches, which were jammed. I recommend this resort as a lovely and very peaceful escape from the crowds of the central Algarve

this is absolutely one of the coolest hotels in the Algarve. The decor is quite edgy with a relaxed vibe in the hallways and at the bar. They’ve got beige linen everywhere and white walls. They also have a beautiful bar that overlooks the ocean as well as an infinity pool and a relaxing library. I highly suggest you go to this hotel if you are looking for a cool but relaxing retreat in the Algarve. You can also rent bikes or do yoga or some other relaxing things in or near the hotel.

This was a very nice hotel in a lovely location. The room was perfectly comfortable, but it was really the fact that we had a nice deck that looked out on the marina and ocean that made the space special. The deck also had a soaking tub! It was a lovely romantic spot to start our honeymoon. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We went in the off-season, which was really nice because the town was not overrun by tourists, but Sagres is a fairly small place without too much activity, so it's a good spot if you are looking to relax on a beach. Helpfully, the hotel was close to a number of beaches (the one right below the hotel was generally empty, which was fantastic, and also right next to the marina that had fun whale and dolphin watching excursions), so nothing was too far to walk.

We stayed here in August and unfortunately it was the worst stay in our 2 weeks vacation in Algarve. Like some reviewers have written, the front desk staff were rude and not helpful. Especially the older woman who ignores guests and is rude when asked for help. The property itself is beautiful and in a good location. But it is a bit run down now and not a design hotel anymore. We found a few bee/wasp hives outside below the highest floor rooms! (See attached picture) We had a good experience with the Restaurant and bar staff. But you have to wait as service is slow both in taking orders and food to come. Breakfast was chaos and packed! People were rushing to grab seats and the staff were not helping and you had to grab someone to clean tables and set it up again. The front desk man was helpful and was trying his best but he was also overwhelmed. The hotel is let down by staff who are rude or not trained. The view is amazing outside and location is good. But inside not everything is maintained and showing wear and tear. I would not stay here again.

Memmo Baleeira has both a restaurant & hotel. The hotel is well appointed, their receptionists are welcoming, friendly and above all at your service. The rooms were clean, linens were above grade, along with their towels. Their pillows were difficult; i.e., not comfortable, almost as if too big, at least for me. The room offers a way to make hot water, yet does not provide in room coffee, tea yes, no coffee. The grounds are beautiful with access to the beach. The beach access directly from the property needs improvement versus a sign stating 'use at your own risk' to go down to the beach. Moving on to the restaurant within the hotel, best to say needs improvement. For example, they offer a Cesar salad, which should really be re-named a chicken salad with Cesar dressing, yet re-naming it won't help much, as it's overall poorly done starting with their usage of iceberg lettuce to pre-fab sliced chicken. They offer tempura veggie appetizer, which came with only one type of veggie, possibly string beans. There was also a skewered chicken kebab, chicken wrapped in bacon, which was to come with grilled vegetables, fair. The hotel saving grace was their breakfast. Yet don't think you can take a cappuccino up to your room to wake your partner, nope,NOT allowed, no food may leave the dinning area. Buffet was grand. Lesson learned, eat breakfast at hotel, look elsewhere for lunch & dinner.

Lovely hotel in the south west corner of Portugal. The room was basic, but it did us just fine. We made very good use of the clothesline kindly provided in the bathroom. The fridge was also put to good use. There was ample enough storage also. The bathroom was excellent, nicely decorated with lots of shelf space to put your bits and pieces on. It always surprises me when holiday accommodation over look shelf space. But not here in the Memmo Baleeira. Cleaning staff were excellent also, always leaving the room spotless and perfect whenever we wanted it serviced. Friendly too whenever you passed them in the corridor. The pool area is fantastic, one of the highlights. Getting to it early helps with nabbing a parasol and sun bed, but people always seem to be coming and going to, so if you wait a bit you will probably get a sun bed by the pool throughout the day. The view from the pool also gets a special mention. I don't think I would ever get bored of that view: the harbour, the sea and the blue blue sky. Wonderful And the little public beach at the bottom of the cliff, which you can get to from the hotel grounds via a steep set up steps is also worth checking out. Not many people staying at the hotel seemed to though as it was always relatively empty. Probably due to the steps taking some getting used to, they are a tad difficult so not for the meek. Next the breakfasts: wow, really impressive. And a great range on offer, so you don't get bored of the food by the end of you stay. It got very busy after 9am, so may be worth getting there early. There are a few downsides, mainly in the bar where the food was overpriced for what your get. I got a cous cous salad one lunchtime and I have to say I can make a much nicer one at home myself. This one was just bland, boring and tasteless. Our second and last lunch was by the pool. Our advice is go somewhere else for lunch. The other downside was the bar staff. We were more or less ignored one evening when we went in for some cocktails. We left cocktail-less. Baffling behaviour. But as I said, the poor food and bad service seemed to be confined to the bar. Overall a lovely stay here at Memmo Baleeira and a recommended hotel in the Sagres area.

The food and the hotel was great. The restaurant had some amazing selections and accommodated allergy issues. If in Sagres, highly recommended.

What a great spot. Very friendly staff, clean modern accommodations, good food/drinks and a beautiful view of the coastline. Get the breakfast included with your room. It's so good with a big selection.
