Memórias Santar

In the park of the Valverde hotel this cosy little restaurant offers a modern Portuguese menu with an extensive wine list, attentive service in a cosy ambiance with jazzy background music. We were 6 for dinner that shared couverts, 2 starters, 3 main courses and a dessert with water, coffee and 3 excellent local wines for €60/pax.

We stopped in Santar on our way back from the north and had a garden tour with a wine tasting. As part of the tour of several gardens, Ana, the guide, told us there was a new restaurant and hotel that had just opened next to one of the gardens and recommended it for lunch - we are so glad that she did! We had an amazing lunch on the terrace of the restaurant, starting with the smoked eel and the cauliflower hazelnut romesco. We followed that with the mushroom risotto and the pumpkin salad, and finally a peach tart with lemon thyme - the food was spectacular. The service was great, attentive and helpful in discussing the products and allergies, and the manager Filipa spoke to us a few times to make sure all was well and to tell us about the restaurant. The restaurant terrace opens on to the vineyard and was well shaded. This is definitely worth a stop if you are passing by - and we look forward to dining there again soon!

Essen auf Sterneniveau, wenn auch (bisher?) nur eine Empfehlung im Michelin. Wir waren gleich an zwei Tagen hintereinander dort. Einmal haben wir das 'Chef-Überraschungsmenü" und zwar in der 5er Variante gegessen und einmal ala carte. Beide Essen waren optisch und geschmacklich ein Hochgenuss. Dazu sehr aufmerksames und dezentes Personal sowie einen sehr guten Somelier. Wenn man in Santar ist, sollte man unbedingt hier essen.

Fomos jantar ao restaurante memória de Santar e foi inesquecível. A comida estava maravilhosa desde a entrada à sobremesa, cada prato era uma mistura de sabores indescritível. No entanto, apesar de nos pratos principais não conseguirmos escolher o melhor, na sobremesa o prato de arroz doce foi a estrela, sendo este o melhor que alguma vez comi. Em complemento à óptima experiência gastronómica, o restaurante tem atendimento excecional, todos os colaboradores foram atenciosos e disponíveis, demonstrando um grande interesse em proporcionar o melhor momento possível. Sem dúvida uma experiência a repetir e recomendar.
