Memórias Santar

We had a wonderful experience at Memórias. Before we even entered the restaurant, you could see through the large windows that open to the terrace that the restaurant is beautiful, stylish and comfortable. We had hoped to take advantage of the lovely terrace, but weather did not cooperate (next time!). We ordered the Chef’s Menu with wine pairings and the best evidence that we had an outstanding experience, is that unusual for us when doing menu dinners, we ate every bite of every course. For us, there is not much better than dining at a restaurant that is dedicated to using regional cuisine with a Chef that really knows flavors and how to turn every dish into something special. Chef (Luis Almeida) even visited our table and openly shared tips on how to recreate some of our favorite flavors. Also, one of the main reasons we visited this region was to experience Dão wines, and the wine pairings did not disappoint. Beatriz and the front-of-house team was equally outstanding, providing warm, engaging service that made the evening all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend for a special night out and we will definitely return to enjoy such a wonderful experience (and hopefully on the terrace!).

Delicious food! Awesome experience. The complimentary dishes were truly interesting - like pieces of art! The wine recommendations were spot on - I’ll definitely take a bottle of Memórias home. The orange dessert was an amazing play of textures. The prices for this experience are absolutely fair

Beatriz and team were wonderful. The food was remarkably delicious. We cannot wait to return. They were so kind to make me fresh lemonade, nothing was too much trouble. My partner is a very fussy eater yet still enjoyed every dish. Perfecto!

In the park of the Valverde hotel this cosy little restaurant offers a modern Portuguese menu with an extensive wine list, attentive service in a cosy ambiance with jazzy background music. We were 6 for dinner that shared couverts, 2 starters, 3 main courses and a dessert with water, coffee and 3 excellent local wines for €60/pax.

Amazing experience at Memórias. Everything was great, from the food to the service. We went as a couple to celebrate my birthday and they even brought a surprise mini cake and sang happy birthday at the table, it was a beautiful gesture. To sim up, chef Luis Almeida has assembled a great team and he has created a tasty and irreverent menu for his guests, 5 out of 5.

Have eaten all over the world and this place is very special. Would highly recommend if you enjoy phenomenal wine and food.

We stopped in Santar on our way back from the north and had a garden tour with a wine tasting. As part of the tour of several gardens, Ana, the guide, told us there was a new restaurant and hotel that had just opened next to one of the gardens and recommended it for lunch - we are so glad that she did! We had an amazing lunch on the terrace of the restaurant, starting with the smoked eel and the cauliflower hazelnut romesco. We followed that with the mushroom risotto and the pumpkin salad, and finally a peach tart with lemon thyme - the food was spectacular. The service was great, attentive and helpful in discussing the products and allergies, and the manager Filipa spoke to us a few times to make sure all was well and to tell us about the restaurant. The restaurant terrace opens on to the vineyard and was well shaded. This is definitely worth a stop if you are passing by - and we look forward to dining there again soon!

Excellent food prepared and presented with great care. The chef takes the experience beyond expectations with interludes to savour between each course
