Mendocino Farms Kirkland - Review - Kirkland - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This casual sandwich and salad chain from California has opened its third Washington location in Kirkland. Just be prepared for the swarms of Door Dashers waiting for their order to be ready, too. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Google
I work nearby so I'd been seeing and hearing allll about the salads and sandwiches at this joint, but never really gave either a shot. Dang. Really could've been eating this delicious food sooner! I ordered the hatch chili corn soup and the "not so fried" sandwich, and destroyed both in super short order. Plus, since I ordered online it was ready when I popped in! The two folks who were manning the counter/front kitchen were communicative and polite and the actual restaurant was clean and I imagine a good place to sit and eat, as well.

Google
First time trying Mendocino Farms, and it was very good. They use fresh ingredients! Both the salad and the sandwich were delicious! I would love to come back! 🥗🥪😋

Google
I recently visited Mendocino Farms in Kirkland, WA, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The décor is bright, modern, and cheerful, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal. The menu offers a creative and diverse range of options, catering to all tastes and dietary preferences. I tried the “Not So Fried” Chicken Sandwich and was blown away by the flavorful combination of crispy chicken, tangy mustard slaw, and pickled red onions. It was perfectly balanced and incredibly satisfying. The salads are equally impressive, made with fresh and vibrant ingredients that truly stand out. What sets Mendocino Farms apart is the quality of the food and the thoughtful presentation. Everything is made fresh, and you can taste the care put into each dish. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about their menu, happy to offer recommendations or help with any dietary modifications. The convenience of their order-ahead options and seamless takeout service is also a big plus, making it an excellent choice whether you want to dine in or grab something delicious on the go. Overall, Mendocino Farms is a standout dining experience. If you’re in Kirkland and looking for flavorful, high-quality meals that are a cut above the rest, this place should be at the top of your list!

Google
Mendocino Farms is seriously the spot. The food always hits fresh, tasty, and never boring. I’ve tried a bunch of things on the menu and never been disappointed. The vibe is good, the people working there are cool, and it’s just an easy go-to when you’re craving something solid. Big fan, will definitely keep coming back!

Google
The food is quite good, the wait time was a bit longer but not bad, the atmosphere isn't bad and the staff are friendly and professional

Google
Utterly fantastic restaurant!!! 5 of 5 rating!!! The food is superb!!!! Two items we purchased were the best type of salad and sandwich that I've eaten! The Thai salad had a superb dressing and lots of exciting and fresh veggies. 5 of 5 rating. The Turkey Avo Salsa Verde sandwich is superb! The salsa Verde is a little spicy, but it goes perfectly with the sandwich. 5 of 5. The prosciutto and chicken sandwich was the best! A generous amount of yummy meat and super yummy toasted chibatta bun. 5 of 5 rating. The Chimichurri steak and Bacon was good, but missing something. 4 of 5. The Kale and Apple Rainbow salad is good. They massage the kale and it is not bitter. 4.5 of 5. The lemonades are all yummy. 5 of 5. The atmosphere is fine, nothing special. 4 of 5. Real silverware! 5 of 5. However, the food and service is top notch!!!! The manager answered my questions on the calorie content for things. Everyone was so helpful! 5 of 5. I didn't know about this jewel of a restaurant, but I'm so happy to have found it! It is close to lots of shopping also! I can't wait to come back!!! 5 of 5!!!!

My wife and I have ordered from this Mendocino location a few times and every single time something about the order was wrong. Today I ordered a Not So Fried chicken and asked for no tomato but the tomatoes came on the sandwich anyway. Additionally my wife ordered the chicken pesto caprese and asked for no peppers. The peppers were on the sandwich anyway. We had to throw my wife’s sandwich out since she has a gluten allergy and felt that if the staff missed removing the peppers from her sandwich, she couldn’t trust them to follow the allergy alert either. We have been trying to reach someone on the phone for a few hours to try to get refunded or at least let our concerns be heard but no one has answered. When Mendocino is done right, it is delicious but this location rarely gets our meals right. Attached a picture of my “No tomato” sandwich and the tomatoes that I picked off it.

Google
So happy Mendocino’s came to the Eastside. Fell in love with them in California! Their sandwiches and salads are absolutely delicious, a real treat and flavour explosion in your mouth. We go here every time we are in the area. Can’t get enough! Picture of my absolute favorite limited time Pink Lady Beets!

Yelp
Very easy ordering right by the hospital. I appreciated that option vs hospital food. I had some sort of Asian salad but with tofu, and I had them make it into a burrito. We had a chicken salad too, and a steak sandwich. All were quite good. They had some pretty tasty fountain drinks...some sort of green juice, and a really tasty lemonade with mint and maybe pomegranate or something...dont quite recall. Very easy to order online and pickup.

Yelp
We've been here before and normally enjoy the food, but this experience was really disappointing. We came in with plenty of time before our movie, placed our order, and still waited over 30 minutes without receiving our food. We ended up having to ask for everything to be boxed up just so we wouldn't miss the show--so much for eating dinner beforehand. The staff was friendly, but the service was painfully slow. It honestly seemed like they were understaffed and overwhelmed. If this is going to be the norm, they really need to add more people during busy times or give guests a better heads-up about wait times. We're hoping this was just an off night, but it definitely left a bad impression and may avoid before movies going forward

Yelp
The next time you're at Totem Lake Plaza, and unhappily contemplating a choice between the plastic-y Sweet Greens, or the oogy mushy chipotle, fear not! Mendocino is the solution (Semi) healthy, tasty with inventive flavor combinations. Every dish has been a pleasant surprise leaving me eager to try more of the menu. A very welcome addition!

Yelp
When first walking in we were instantly impressed with the happy and friendly employees who immediately greeted us and checked to see if we had any questions. Having friendly employees definitely made the atmosphere really pleasant. I ordered the sandwich/side combo with the farm club sandwich and kale&apple salad. I loved the sandwich, you could tell they were using quality and fresh ingredients which I appreciated. I didn't care much for the kale&apple; it felt oily and I didn't think the flavor combos were working well. I would definitely come back to try something else though because it seems like they have a lot of great things to try!

Yelp
I came here around 1:30 PM on a Thursday for a to-go order. The facility was nice and clean, and the staff was friendly. I ordered the Thai Sweet Potato Soup, which was delicious and perfect for the cold weather. Parking was easy, with a free parking garage nearby.

Yelp
I have walked past this place in Totem Lake a few times and wasn't sure exactly what to expect other than food and blue spotted cows everywhere, including one out front just waiting for a selfie! Challenge accepted. While here for a Yelp Experience, I brought along 3 members of my family and I tried their meals as well. I had the Chicken Parm Dip with a cup of Thai Sweet Potato Soup, while others in my party tried the Winter Citrus & Goat Cheese Salad, the Not So Fried Chicken Ciabatta, and the Chicken & Hummus Crunch Wrap. We each enjoyed our meals as they tasted pretty good. The chicken I tried in each of the items we had was tender and moist and went well with the accompanying ingredients. I also like the tanginess of the Farmhouse Vinegarette dressing on the salad. With all the chicken offerings, you'd think their mascot would be a chicken instead of a blue cow (It looks like Chik-fil-A already figured this out). Holy Cow! This location has good wholesome food and a bright inviting seating area. Check it out.

Yelp
Looking for a healthy sandwich or salad? You've come to the right place! Love the menu choices and drinks (especially the pomegranate drink - so refreshing). My only issue is that service is quite slow especially during peak hours. The ambiance is nice. Plenty of comfortable seating available including some high chairs. Portions are decent and filling.
google avatar

Yelp
tl;dr - fresh ingredients, very friendly staff, gluten free options I've had both sandwiches and salads here and the ingredients are really fresh. The Peruvian Steak Sandwich and Turkey Avo Salsa Verde Sandwich are our repeat orders. They also offer gluten free bread. They can take a little longer for food to come out, but the staff is always super friendly and service is excellent. There seems to always be plenty of seating because a lot of customers seem to place online orders.

Yelp
First time trying it out. The food, service and ambiance were amazing! We will definitely be coming back soon!

Yelp
I am so excited to see Mendocino Farms had opened at Totem Lake and had to try it out. I got the Pink Lady Beets and Goat Cheese Salad, and Guava Lemonade. I loved both the salad and Guava Lemonade. It took close to 30 mins to receive my salad, I wish it didn't take so long I will be back to try their sandwiches.

Yelp
Ordered for pickup. Took a while for the order to be ready. Was really looking forward for this location to open but unfortunately didn't have a great experience. - November to Remember ($13.95): limited edition item, was ok, not memorable, would not get again - Chicken Pesto Caprese ($12.75): flavor was good but it was cold, like it came straight out of the fridge. For a panini type of sandwich, I expected at least the bread to be warm
google avatar

Smaly K.

Yelp
I had tried the Peruvian Steak sandwich, and was really tasty. It tasted fresh, and the bread was nice and soft. My bf wanted to try the sandwich too, so I picked up a Peruvian Steak sandwich and a Lemon Cheesecake Cookie so he can have for his lunch the next day. Even on the next day, the sandwich was till good. He enjoyed and the cookie, and wish I got two cookies for him. And he already put in his next order for the next sandwich to pick up for him. Place is welcoming and clean, and staff is friendly.

Yelp
Good: friendly staff and gorgeous presentation. Room for improvement: staff still needs training, seemed confused while bringing out food (my salad was waiting on the counter and there multiple people unsure what to do with it) and didn't correctly tell me that the onions were NOT pickled in the salad. The pickled vs. raw difference is huge, I'm a long-time Mendocino farms fan and I can tell the staff is still adjusting to all the nuances. Overall, it took almost 20 minutes to get our salad and sandwich (with soup) and people who came AFTER us got their food before us. My salad was sitting there while the staff was confused, that was a downside because it's wilting in real time. Again -- more training over time will fix this. I'm rating it highly for the ingredients used and presentation, but understand that this is still a new location.

Yelp
We went during grand opening and it was pretty good. It was busy so we ordered online. We got the banh mi salad and try Peruvian sandwich. Each was roughly $15.50. I think the price was reasonable since both was very filling. The sandwich was very flavorful and you can taste the spices and flavors from Peru. The salad was filled with delicious pickled veggies and the flavor was also on point. Overall, it was a good first experience for me and I would definitely return.

Yelp
Thanks Yelp and Mendocino. Nice, clean space in Totem lake. East parking. I ordered the Baja green goddess salad and purchased a small spicy curry couscous salad. The Baja salad is Huge! I easily ate this for three meals. Fresh ingredients and delicious. The curry couscous salad was way better than I expected it to be. Slightly spicy, creamy, and smooth. This is going to be a go to spot for me on my way home for an easy dinner. The inside of the restaurant was neat and spacious. Fun juice bar. Healthy choices. I'll be back.

Yelp
Peruvian steak Sammy that we bought and had the next day as a quick lunch on the go. Heated it up and it tasted great- I was actually surprised how well it did reheated. The steak was cooked nicely and great flavors. Bread did ok despite sitting in the fridge overnight.
google avatar

Taylor M.

Yelp
If you like sandwiches that look warm but are actually ice cold, then this is the place for you. They toast the bread, yet every ingredient inside tastes like it was just taken out of the fridge. It does taste good, just very misleading. I once got a side of the kale & apple rainbow salad and it was 90% apple, hardly any kale. Also, no matter how empty the place is, service is always slow which is interesting given that the sandwich are not even warmed up.I find it a bit overpriced for what you get. Another weird thing is that you cannot get any of their fountain drinks through mobile order, only when ordering for dine in.
google avatar

Wennie H.

Yelp
3.5 stars- popped in for a quick lunch, food was good and fresh. I ordered the half not fried chicken sandwich with a deli kale apple salad. The sandwich was super good, I opted to get it on sourdough and the slaw was fresh, crispy bits (incredible), aioli was rich. Every bite was flavorful. The deli salad side was super small and a little too tart for me- cranberries were a good touch but the coconut lost me.

Yelp
Love love love Mendocino farms! I'm so excited they made it to Seattle. I've been here twice already. I got the Baja green salad both times. This salad is a flavor explosion - the perfect mix of fresh greens, grilled chicken, black beans, corn, avocado, and that amazing cilantro-lime dressing. Seriously, I could drink that dressing! The portion size is generous, making it a satisfying and healthy meal. Beyond the delicious food, the service at this location was lightning fast, even during the lunch rush. I was in and out in no time. And to top it all off, parking was a breeze - a huge plus in this area. There's a garage just around the corner to the left side if the street outside the restaurant is full. To be honest $15 for a salad is pretty pricey, but if you consider the portion size and the quality ingredients that you're getting the best bang for your buck.

Yelp
This place is beautiful. What struck me were the beautiful paintings of scenes from Seattle. It was quiet when I entered at about 8:15pm so I was able to walk around and look at all the artwork. I decided to get the Peru sandwich since it looked good and it didn't seem to have anything spicy. Boy was I wrong! It spelled so good but It was really spicy for me and I was unable to eat it. However the next day it wasn't as spicy so I was able to eat a couple bites. I gave the rest to my sister and she liked it. The serving was really good and everyone was friendly. I asked about the drinks and was told they were really sweet. I decided to just get one and it was super delicious! I'm coming back to try the guava drink next time.

Yelp
So happy that Mendo opened in Totem Lake! Location is right behind Whole Foods. We both got 1/2 sandwich combo ($12) with pesto chicken sandwich & lemon chicken soup. Was hoping for tomato soup but still delicious. I also tried their tiny potato salad $3.95. Hit the spot as I was craving potato salad. I like this tiny side size but larger size also available. Everything was super fresh & delicious. They have lots of delivery orders so your food may take awhile but not too bad. Will be back to try their salads. Try it in Kirkland!

Yelp
One of my favorite sandwich spots at this point. The Happy Hippie is my personal favorite, but i've had all of them at this point and you can't go wrong with any. Staff always very friendly and the place is always very clean. The only downside is this isn't somewhere you can stop by at on a 30 minute lunch, due to sandwiches taking anywhere from 10-20 minutes to come out. That just means it's a weekend mini date spot!
google avatar

Yelp
For having just opened, Mendocino Farms is really on their game! I was greeted right when I got in line and an employee told me about some of their seasonal specials. I am gluten free, and the staff had an excellent grasp on what would be safe for me to eat. There were actually a ton of options! The space is really big, open, and clean. Most tables were occupied since I went shortly after the opening day, so I put my order in to go. When it was ready, they sent me a text and I picked it up from a shelf, which was nice because I didn't have to get back in line or check on my order at any point. I ordered the quinoa salad and it was so good! Really filling with a great variety of textures. I also love the caprese panini on gluten free with their tomato soup, definitely my comfort meal. I was also able to try some of their juices and they were fabulous. The pomegranate mint lemonade and the green juice were my faves. This location is quick, convenient, friendly, and has tons of healthy options. It will definitely be my new go to for quick healthy meals on the go!

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Kirkland! The location is amazing, and the service is great. I ordered the mango Thai salad without chicken, but they accidentally included it at first. They quickly replaced it and even gave me some complimentary sides to make up for the mistake--much appreciated! I've also been to the Seattle location, and while this one was a bit saltier for my taste, it's still a solid choice if you're looking for a healthy meal. I definitely recommend giving it a try!
google avatar

Damini A.

Yelp
Mendocino farms has an amazing vibe, the staff is super friendly. We were a big group and one of our vegan order came with chicken by mistake. They replaced the order immediately and provided some sides on the house. I myself being a vegetarian, loved the happy hippie sandwich. The vegan bahn mi was not my favourite, since the tofu was little too salty for me, and the sauce was a little too sweet. I liked the spicy curried couscous and pesto shells. The mango salad and other food was also enjoyable, definitely recommend this place!
google avatar

Dee M.

Yelp
We got a chicken pesto sandwich, a happy hippie, a tomato basil soup, chicken tenders, lemonade, apples and the double choc o-chip cookies. Basically, we got one of everything! The food was some of the freshest we've had. We also fell in love with their in-house bread. The staff was very sweet and friendly. The restaurant had a farm to table style decor. All-in-all a very good experience!
google avatar

Jen M.

Yelp
Super happy to find Mendocino farms has made it to Washington! Ordered a pork belly bahn mi sandwich which was delicious!!!! Loved all the flavors, fresh ingredients, crispy bread and everything melded together so well. One of my more favorite sandwiches I've had in a while. Small Side kale salad was indeed VERY small. Maybe a few bites worth but was also not bad in flavor. A bit too tart for me but it was fresh and good! Will definitely return to try more things!
google avatar

Katherine R.

Yelp
Went here for lunch today and it was packed out. The line went fast and we were able to find a spot to sit fairly quick. We tried a couple of steak sandwiches, salads, and the chicken soup. Everything came out perfectly! Such a simply and delicious spot for a healthy bite to eat. The staff were all very friendly and nice. They even bussed our table throughout the meal which is unlikely for an order at the counter spot like this. Interior was bright and clean too!
google avatar

Bessie C.

Yelp
Complimentary Garage parking as well as street parking available. Clean and bright location with lots of seating. Large selection of salads, sandwiches and soups. You stand in line to place your order and scan the QR code at the table to indicate where the food should be delivered. Fresh and delicious food. Will definitely be back to try the other dishes.

Yelp
So excited that Mendocino is on the Eastside!! I've been a fan of Mendocino Farms since I had it for the first time in the Bay Area, but sometimes it's just a trek to get to the Seattle locations. This newly opened location is in the Totem Lake neighborhood of Kirkland, across from the Whole Foods. The interior is super bright and clean, and all the staff are very friendly. Food offerings are pretty standard across all Mendocino locations - I personally enjoy the chicken parm dip, not so fried chicken, and the chimichurri steak (warning, this one is a bit salty). I also tried their November seasonal, which was like a Thanksgiving meal in a sandwich (turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, etc) - didn't particularly enjoy the texture of this as everything was just kind of mushy. I've been here twice for pickup and while the first time was super smooth, just in and out grabbing my order, the second time left more to be desired. Seems like the kitchen got a bit backed up and there were a TON of people waiting for pickup orders. I got my order ~15-20 mins after the promised time, which wasn't the best experience. Hopefully they improve on this as they smooth things out, and that there'll be a Bellevue or Redmond location next!
google avatar

Utsav M.

Yelp
We have been having food at Mendocino farms since the last few years in San Diego and LA. We were very excited when we saw it opened in Kirkland. They did not disappoint . The staff is friendly and it is a 5 minute drive from my place , so bye bye unhealthy fast food, welcome mendocino farm

Ashley A.

Yelp
Did they changed the to-go package? The portion got way SMALL and received in different packaging. I'm not sure if this is worth $20. Looks like the $6 salad you can find in QFC or SAFEWAY. Used to like it but not anymore after today. I will just make it at home ‍
google avatar

Archana R.

Yelp
Finally a good salad and sandwich shop. I am fan of the hippie sandwich. The sides like basil pesto and potato salad are really yummy.
google avatar

Craig F.

Yelp
I saw that the Mendocino Farms at Totem Lake had opened. Of course, a new restaurant and I love checking new places. Ordering on line was easy and efficient. The ability to customize my sandwich was great. I ordered the November to Remember sansandwich and soup. This is definitely one of my top ten sandwiches. The order was done much sooner than the timestamp for pickup. Luckily, I was there a bit earlier and the order had been put on the self pickup about 5 minutes before I had arrived. The only thing that was a bit irritating was that my soup was put into the bag along with my order. My soup was no longer hot when I picked up the order. Other places leave a note to talk to the staff about getting your soup fresh when picking up a to go order.
google avatar

Shantala A.

Yelp
Well, we were in the mood for sandwiches and decided to give this place a try since it's pretty new and we like checking out hot & new restaurants. It was pretty packed for lunch on Saturday. They were busy with to go orders too. But the food came pretty quickly. We are vegetarians, so we got the vegan Banh mi and the Happy Hippy with a side of couscous. The Bahn Mi was excellent! Loved the warm crunchy bread and the crispy veggies and tofu were packed with all the right flavors. The Happy Hippie was disappointing though. The sandwich was too soggy, to the point that it was falling apart. While I do like gooey sandwiches, this was a soggy mess. I did not enjoy it. The couscous was ok. It was cold. Would have been good at room temperature, at the very least. We asked if they could sub tofu instead of chicken in one of the salads and were told that will be an extra charge. I would go again just for the Bahn Mi.
google avatar

Daryl M.

Yelp
Both Salad and sandwich were delicious! Nice to find a healthy and tasty alternative to the usual fast food. The restaurant is bright, and restrooms were clean. We'll be back!
google avatar

Chrystal C.

Yelp
Soft opening SUCCESS! Hummus Pita Crunch Salad and Chimchurri Steak & Bacon sandwich for the win! Just as delicious and fresh as the California locations I've been to. Service was fabulous, the buzz of energy is exciting. A wonderful addition to Kirkland.
google avatar

Chris I.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place. Super nice and helpful staff but the food just isn't good. I've tried 2 different sandwiches and a salad and both were not great. The salad was the an avocado quinoa and one sandwich was the Parm dip. Sweet greens has much better food. It's unfortunate because it looks like a place that should have great and healthy food.
google avatar

Prathyusha N.

Yelp
We came for the grand opening and been coming back since! Our favorites are Thai mango salad, Happy hippie and curried couscous. Staff is great. Everyone is friendly and helpful. We will come back with our toddler for the family event. One tip is to order online and pickup in the store at the estimated time. Can avoid waiting in line this way.
google avatar

Dexter S.

Yelp
The food here does taste fresh and is pretty good but overall the experience pulls that down. The price behind some of the items seems fair but when it comes to a side dish, you're literally paying $3 for 3 spoonfuls of whatever you're getting. Wait times are pretty long as well. It's one of those quick food places that's not so quick and not so friendly on your pockets.
google avatar

Lynn N.

Yelp
The service was great, good salad and drink for a great price!! I'm going again and trying the Thai mango salad
google avatar

Robin J.

Yelp
Great food and service! I especially loved the Chicken Pesto Caprese and Turkey Avo Salsa Verde. The service was excellent and made the experience even better!

Shhh G.

Yelp
First time trying this place . Amazing service, very friendly and nice staff , super attentive. Good sandwich and salad choices . Don't forget to order 1 of their tasty lemonades! The guava was amazing. They have kids menu which is a plus. Spacious indoor sitting.

Kathleen R.

Yelp
I had the goat cheese, citrus salad and it was so tangy, spicy and flavorful, one of the best things I ate all week. My husband had a turkey avo sandwich which was also super flavorful. The potato salad had a good dill flavor. All in all our first visit was great and we'll go again!

Rob P.

Yelp
Well, Ordered the Peruvian steak sandwich with no tomato and extra avocado. Wife had the chicken and hummus wrap special, both online pick up orders on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Long line for pick up orders so a bit of a wait but nothing too inconvenient. They remembered no tomatoes on my steak sandwich but forgot the $2.50 extra avocado! Wife said the wrap was "smothered" with dressing. Not very much sprouts and really couldn't taste any hummus. Good thing we had a coupon that gave us her wrap for free. Overall, it's a place that's trying to make it work but they definitely have some kinks to work out (which we would come to expect with it being a new establishment).

Tom W.

Yelp
Sandwiches are tasty but salads aren't as good as Sweetgreen. Staff is friendly. The reason for the rating is the app adds tip by default. l just find that deceitful.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
Good food w/ good quality ingredients, very friendly staff. Price is a little absurd for what you get.
google avatar

Saher H.

Yelp
The food was awesome and I would definitely recommend the chimichurri steak. The service is insanely good compared to pretty much every other restaurant around.

lux l.

Yelp
Friendly service, decent sandwiches. Parking along the street or walk further where there's plaza parking. Ample indoor seating area within store. Seems a bit more quality and organic ingredients when compared to panera bread.
