The Power Lunch Is Returning in Downtown San Francisco As Workers Trickle Back to Offices | Eater SF

"I saw lunchtime lines unfurl out the doors of Mendocino Farms on Mission Street, with office workers waiting to place their orders — a visible sign that the pre-pandemic business-lunch rhythm is starting to return as downtown restaurants grow noticeably busier at midday." - Dianne de Guzman

Google
Top spot for To go - if you want something lighter on calories, reasonably quick service and really fresh food. I got myself a Thai Mango Salad and I loved it. There's definitely a lot of rush at this place which is a testament to it's popularity. I can't really comment on how good or bad their service is - but for pickup or to go I would definitely recommend this place.

Google
I got the steak and chimichurri sandwich + tomato basil soup. Both were great. I would recommend.

Mendocino Farms is my go to, at least once a week, almost for 2 years now. It's food that I can trust, having a very sensitive stomach. High quality, always. However, I am sad that apples are no longer available as a sandwich addon.

Google
Came here for a late Sunday lunch… the place was quite empty. Service was quick. Food was awesome… super fresh and delicious! Highly recommended for anyone looking for lighter, healthier options…

Google
No doubt, it’s the number one place for sandwiches. Everything is super tasty! The sandwiches are full of flavor, the salads are fresh and delicious, and the whole menu is just wonderful. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and a good experience 😋😋

Google
Deliveries for orders made from their website is always late. I usually order rom 10:00-10:45 AM for 12:00 PM delivery but they always end up delivering 2-3 hours late! Food is good but I won't waiting that long is ridiculous!

The server named Natalie greeted me with genuine and kind mmediately felt invited and salutations I immediately felt invited and comfortable. An amazing person and a great establishment.

Google
The food was so good, I didn’t even get a chance to take a pic! I had the not so fried chicken sandwich and the apple kale salad. Everything was fresh and delicious! Their Thai turmeric lemonade is to die for! I will most certainly be returning!

Yelp
Fresh, flavorful, and totally worth the wait! We came to Mendocino Farms and yes, the line was long--but now I know why. The food was amazing and so fresh. I got the salad and it was packed with flavor, crisp greens, and perfectly cooked quinoa--honestly one of the best salads I've had in a long time. The potato salad was creamy with just the right amount of herbs and texture. My husband got a sandwich and loved it--fresh bread, quality meats, and delicious toppings. Everything tasted made-to-order and full of love. Totally coming back.

Yelp
Ugh, what happened to Mendocino? Times must be tough! The Modern Cesar is almost $20 a bowl. They used to be packed with so much goodness but Mendocino is a great example of shrinkflation. The bowl itself is smaller. It's less packed. Slices of moist chicken have been replaced with crumbled, dry bits of chicken. They "forget" the Parmesan cheese slices. For nearly $20, I rather go some place else for a salad.

Yelp
I've liked Mendocino Farms since I discovered them a couple of years ago. They have a good variety of sandwiches and salads, and they even have seasonal items sometimes. I especially like the Peruvian Steak sandwich. I don't think I've tried any of their sides besides the Spicy Curried Couscous, which was good. Every once in a while when they're swamped during the lunch rush, they'll forget something like salad dressing, but they always make it right the next time. Mendocino Farms feels a little expensive, but I could say that about nearly every lunch option in the Bay Area these days. Plus, I'm always confident that I'm going to enjoy what I have ordered at Mendocino Farms. I only wish they had a loyalty program!

Yelp
"Eat Happy!" Love that motto! Mendocino Farms offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, and sides, all made with fresh ingredients and inspired flavors. This location, on the corner of Mission St and Beale St, is conveniently near to our office, so was an easy choice when we recently needed a quick and healthy-ish meal for 6 of us to go. We ordered online for pickup; everything was ready on time and as ordered. I went with: Chicken & Hummus Crunch Wrap - $14.95 chicken, hummus, pita chips, Kumato tomatoes, cucumber, jalapeño, pickled red onions, sprouts, romaine, baby spinach, Lebanese garlic sauce, mint labneh, wrapped in an artisanal flour tortilla (1060 cal) Yes, they include the calories on the menu, and this was one of the more caloric options but it sounded so good. I chose to hold the garlic sauce so that I wouldn't be breathing garlic fire breath onto others. Note: the hummus was still pretty garlicky. I ate half of my wrap a few hours after ordering it, and I ate the other half the next day. I feared it might be soggy from the hummus but it held up pretty well. I enjoyed all the flavors - pickled onions rule! - and would definitely order this again. I haven't dine in at this Mendocino Farms location yet, but it's very bright and clean and inviting. I'll be back.

Yelp
One of my favorite sandwich chains to grab n go for a quick delicious and healthy meal. It's very easy to just order online and pick it up at the counter if you want to skip the line. My favorite sandwiches are the farm club and prosciutto and chicken. The farm club is packed with meat and all the flavors come together so well! The smashed avocado that comes with it is also delicious. The prosciutto and chicken has this honey coated nuts to it which adds a nice sweet and crunchy touch to the sandwich.

Yelp
My niece was looking for a healthy place to eat so we tried this restaurant. Everything tasted good and fresh. I highly recommend coming here.
google avatar

Maria C.

Yelp
Yay! We usually sub the sandwiches with Sourdough Bread which I recommend. This location usually gets the order correct compared to the one on 2nd St.

Vanessa W.

Yelp
They cannot manage this restaurant right there was too many people coming in and there was no customer service to let me know if there was a phone order line or a order line and nobody told me where to go and they only said 15 minutes, but that look more than 15 minutes wait it would've been my first time here, but I will never eat. Here doesn't look clean. The food. Doesn't look good too.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered the Sweet Peach and Goat cheese salad and it did not disappoint. It was a Great mix of leaves and mix ins, including a creamy goat cheese, crunchy almonds, and a tangy balsamic vinaigrette that really added nice elements to each bite. When you get everything in one bite it's perfect. Only downside was that it was a bit difficult to mix without making a mess - I wish they would offer a premixed option for to go (for when you pick it up to eat it right away). But still 5 solid stars. Plenty of seating if you're looking to dine in, but also a close walk to Salesforce park if you want to pair it with a beer.

Yelp
always at the top of my list. this place is convenient, close by, and quick. i'm a huge fan of the "not so fried chicken sandwich." the concept in itself appeals to me, as i love a nice crispy sandwich but i try to stray away from fried chicken. this makeshift fried chicken sandwich is the perfect combination of crisps and chicken that leaves me satisfied everytime. service is super quick. you order up at the counter, and they always bring the food straight to your table. feel free to ask for a suggestion as the workers are super helpful! ambiance is usually pretty calm unless you're coming near one of the peak dinner/lunch times. even then, it'll just add maybe 5-6 minutes to your wait time :)

Yelp
Cheers to convenience and healthy options when you need it the most! I found both at Mendocino Farms right off Mission St and it was a pleasant surprise from the moment I walked through the door... thanks to the super friendly and helpful staff that greeted my lunch group on the day of my visit. After getting their suggestions I settled on the vegan banh mi sandwich with a side of their basil pesto shells along with one of their house made drinks, the rose lemonade. The sandwich was not on your typical Vietnamese baguette and the tofu was cut into smaller sizes which I'll admit, made it less easy to handle without falling apart. That being said, it was very flavorful. The marinade was a little on the sweet side but the jalapenos helped to balance that out. My pesto pasta salad was a super small portion and it was pretty dry so it wasn't my favorite. The lemonade was definitely rose lemonade and it was super sweet. I had the thought to make about half of it water and half of it the lemonade but then it totally escaped me. I wish I had done that because then it would have been perfect. While I tend to shy away from chains, this is what I would consider a "local" chain being that it's only in California and I would be down to visit them again and try other things from their menu. Honestly, it was the great service that sealed the deal!

Yelp
It's really easy to make unhealthy lunch decisions and it's a habit I'm trying to break in 2024. This being said, selecting MF for a recent lunch with coworkers helped for me to keep my promise to myself as soup, salad, and an iced tea were exactly what I was looking for. I should start by saying that being greeted as you walk through the door with menu suggestions was a very nice touch and actually helped for me to make my decision. The salad: Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad - Shaved, roasted chicken breast, napa cabbage and kale slaw, carrots, bean sprouts, baby spinach, chopped romaine, scallions, cilantro, toasted cashews, crispy wontons with miso mustard sesame dressing. It was delicious and something I'd absolutely order again. The soup: Thai Sweet Potato Soup was a puree of sweet potatoes, red bell peppers, shallots, coconut milk, lime, Thai red curry, ginger, lemongrass, almond butter. Also wonderful and also a future reorder for me. Perhaps I was in the mood for some Asian flavors now looking back at my choices? Either way, I'm not complaining!

Yelp
Delicious fresh food with a nice variety. In-house made selection of drinks. It's a busy place, probably because it's so good. Nice corner location in the middle of the busy business area of San Francisco. A bustling place with a lot going on, sometimes hard to find a seat.

Yelp
I am always down to try a new (to me) salad place. I actually miss the old days when we have salad bars. I love making my own salads without having to buy a bunch of ingredients to make 1-2 servings of salad. Anyway, this is not that type of salad bar, but it does offer interesting combinations of salads. We recently tried the pork belly banhmi salad. While yummy, the pork belly was way too salty. The prosciutto and chicken sandwich was delicious tho.

Yelp
thai mango chicken salad was pretty good, a hefty portion + $5 deal + post-run/gym = happy yay. the ramen noodles were kind of random but I loved all the crispiness in the salad
google avatar

Yelp
Hits and misses at this location - salads are usually solid, but sandwiches are often misses. Today I got the BLT since they were running a promotion for national sandwich month, and what was advertised in their menu/picture is far different from what I received. Take a look at these pictures - at first glance I thought they completely forgot the tomato, once opened, there's the tiniest sliver of tomato at the edge. Would you be willing to pay $15 for this? I hope not.

Yelp
Overall a healthful menu. Very good salads. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Definitely on the healthy side for Bishop Ranch.

Yelp
The Modern Caesar is my go-to. I can't help but think that Mendo is a modern day version of 2018 Specialty's. Consistent and reliable but missing a certain je ne said quois. Mendo ultimately triggers larger philosophical meanderings -- if you spend your entire life eating salads, have you really lived at all?

Yelp
My first time popping in a Mendocino farms and certainly not my last! On top of fresh and homemade tasting food choices at good prices, the service was amazing. Friendly and accommodating and quick. As we sat down to dine on our chicken parm sandwiches, Judy came to check on us. She was so knowledgeable about the biz and the source of food, as she suggested we grab a kids meal for my 9 month old as she saw us sharing pieces of our chicken with her. She also treated us to cookies! The food was fresh and tasted like I was eating in my mom's kitchen. Excited to have found a healthy to go spot in SoCal- adding to my list!

Yelp
i have very fond memories of eating mendocino farms down in socal/in LA and dream about their curried couscous side from time to time. unfortunately, my recent visit did not live up to my memories. i'd ordered the avocado salad w/ quinoa and it was disappointingly difficult to eat. the quinoa was fried and did not lend itself texturally well to being consumed. the kale was also very raw and tough, and should have been tenderized/massaged before being added to the salad. not sure if they changed the recipe for the couscous salad, but the one i'd ordered did not have any cauliflower in it.

Yelp
After all these years working in fidi I finally decided to try Mendocino farms. I placed my order online and was told my pickup time was at 11:57am. I arrived early and easily found my order on the pick up order shelf. I ordered the chimi steak & bacon sandwich. I'm not sure if the sandwich was supposed to be served hot or not but it was pretty cold when I ate it. Overall I thought it was an okay sandwich. I'd probably dine in next time to try a different sandwich.

Yelp
Located in the heart of the "work lunch" in SF (FiDi), this Mendo is a delightful haven for locals seeking a refreshing twist on traditional sandwiches and salads. Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately drawn to the vibrant atmosphere and welcoming ambiance. The modern yet cozy decor exudes warmth, creating the perfect setting for a relaxed eating experience. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles, and I think there's a secret to getting the cashier to ding the cowbell.... ;) Mendo commonly gets flak for being a middle-end work-lunch place, but I really think that stems from it being too good and consequently "overfrequented." For example, I generally opt for their signature "Not So Fried" Chicken Sandwich; because the first time I had it it exceeded my expectations in every way. The chicken is tender and flavorful, complemented by crisp slaw, tangy pickles, and a zesty herb aioli, all sandwiched between freshly baked bread. I still enjoy the sandwich, but you only eat something great for the first time once. Now I've been wearing out my taste novelty with the Chimichurri Steak and Bacon sandwich. After that wears thin, I'll move onto something else equally-good. I think people tend to overlook that this place's food is really good because they let the novelty wear off! What truly sets Mendocino Farms apart to me is their dedication to sustainability and community involvement. As I learned from the friendly staff, the restaurant is committed to supporting local farmers and suppliers, ensuring that every dish reflects their commitment to environmental stewardship. Mendo, you rule! I'm excited to get tired of your whole menu!

Yelp
We are very happy to find a restaurant available for a Sunday lunch order downtown. It was easy to place the order online and there were vegetarian, meat, and gluten free options. We were pleased with how everything was packed up securely with a sticker enclosing the shopping bag and each person's order came in individual bags. The vegetarian sandwich was tasty and had a good amount of filling. I really loved the Chipotle Ranch Dressing that incorrectly came with my Modern Caesar Salad. It was supposed to be accompanied by a Classic Caesar Dressing. I didn't mind the mistake though I think others who don't like a little heat would be upset. The Chipotle Ranch Dressing was a bit spicy with a lot of good flavor. However, I did not care for the "housemade superfood krunchies". It felt as if I was chewing on raw quinoa.

Yelp
Basic sandwich's and salads, food is mediocre and desserts are a pass for me. It is conveniently located near offices nearby

Yelp
Very impressed by their vegan options. The meal I had, which had a lot of leafy greens, was fresh and appropriately proportioned. Glad to know it's a viable option for those who avoid animal-sourced products. The restaurant has a buffet style aesthetic; so you can sit and eat, but feel the natural urge to move-on once you're finished.

Sunny 8.

Yelp
Friendly service, and plenty of seating. They serve a delicious lemon chicken soup. Very clean restroom.

Franco C.

Yelp
Sandwich was below average. Pretty bland for my taste. Definitely more value in getting a sandwich from a local deli, cheaper and tastier. For a $20 sandwich, I would expect some flavor to it. Would it hurt to add salt and pepper to the sandwich?

Yelp
Jamie W. and I are pretty familiar with this burgeoning chain from their original cavernous California Street location (review: https://bit.ly/3AHPQw7). We were always impressed with the size of their salad bowls and the variety of ingredients in each one of them. The kicker was the rich dressing which tasted satisfying but added significantly to the calorie count. With that in mind, we were happy to see another addition to the chain in eastern SoMa. Jamie ordered the $13.75 Smoky Chicken Elote Bowl but smartly switched out the ancient grains and shredded cabbage for baby spinach leaves to reduce the quoted 700 calorie count. He also bravely requested to omit the rich crema cotija, an element I doubt I would sacrifice. What remained were pieces of al pastor chicken, smoky corn & guajillo broth, zucchini, and of course, the tortilla chips (photo: https://bit.ly/3XkJYml). He's not made of stone after all. I went with the $13.95 Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad which managed to be 420 calories without the 230-calorie miso mustard sesame vinaigrette. I didn't miss it as it was a robust bowl on its own anchored by shaved roasted chicken breast. Completing the bowl were Napa cabbage & kale slaw, carrots, bean sprouts, baby spinach, chopped romaine, scallions, cilantro, toasted cashews, and crispy wontons (photo: https://bit.ly/3GFREtA). Pretty tasty and not the astronomical 1,565 calories of a similar salad at the California Chicken Cafe down in Santa Monica (review: https://bit.ly/3VdSTUU). Glad to see MF more conscientious in their assembly of ingredients. FOOD - 4 stars...huge salad bowls where you can switch out ingredients, don't go whole hog on the dressings AMBIANCE - 4 stars...significant outdoor space helps SERVICE - 4 stars...pretty accommodating TOTAL - 4 stars...a healthy option for a hungry appetite to consider in SoMa RELATED - Exploring eastern SoMa? Yelp
First time here. Good atmosphere, clean, and friendly. Our server was Adolfo, he was good at giving recommendations and told us to try the Peruvian steak and we loved it! Will definitely come back here again!

Yelp
Had Mendocino Farms recently in both LA and in the Bay, both times the food was FRESH, flavorful, accurate temps and so tasty! Delivery was fast overall wonderful experience, wish they were national!

Yelp
Move over Tendergreens! I've been pretty good at bringing my home lunch to work however when I have those busy weekends where I'm unable to meal prep, I'm forced to eat out. I ordered the Mango Thai Salad with Tofu for pick up. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was super packed with the lunch crowd and food delivery dudes. Luckily, I ordered ahead of time however my salad was not quite ready. After waiting about 3 minutes my salad finally came out. The salad was amazing, glad I'm able to choose tofu as my protein. Looking forward to trying the other salads.
google avatar

Yelp
I've ordered both a sandwich and a salad. Both were fresh, yet for the price, they were a small size and small portion. Waaay overpriced!
google avatar

Ida H.

Yelp
Came during lunch and it was packed and busy! I would advise to order online and do a pickup - for convenience and bc staff won't give you a receipt unless you ask for one (no digital/sms copies available). What I ordered: Sweet Heat Crispy Thai Chicken ($13+): It's an ok sandwich. My issue is I don't know the calories for this item. In person, the menu noted 910 and online it's a whopping 1100?!? Where is the extra 190 coming from? It didn't taste or feel heavy so I'm confused. The sandwich itself wasn't unique - condiments and toppings were average.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
My favorite here was the Sophisticated Chicken & Prosciutto Salad but it got axed from the menu. I end up floating between other items on the menu or the seasonal items. Recently i got the honey peach prosciutto sandwich, but Salad style -- I didn't know that was an option until this visit. Overall service is friendly and they have unlimited fountain drinks. I find the chicken more on the bland side, but the beef and prosciutto are solid. Ample parking and seating. Overall a solid place for salad in the area.
google avatar

Swetha K.

Yelp
Mendocino Farms is my favorite spot for Sandwiches in the city! We always get catering from here for trainings and team events at work, but this was my first time dining at the location. Service was quick and everything tasted great! The Impossible Taco Salad was fresh, crunchy and hearty! Especially love that crunchy quinoa topping on any of their salads; highly recommend! The vegetarian Caprese sandwich was delicious with pesto, sun dried tomatoes, roasted bell peppers and mozzarella. We also got a cup of the Thai Coconut Curry Soup (vegetarian) which was the best choice and my favorite of all dishes we tried! Overall, extremely happy about the flavors and the many vegetarian and vegan options they provide.

Yelp
Good but nothing to write home about! I've tried locations in other places and have been to this one once for a work lunch. I got the chicken sandwich (not so fried) and it had a really unique taste to it! I loved their take on a traditional fried chicken sandwich and it was quite filling. I also tried their turmeric lemonade which was super yummy! They have a lot of indoor/outdoor seating which is nice but it can get quite loud in there during lunch rush. Reason this review is 4 stars is because the service took sooo long. We got there just before the lunch rush really started and it took us 25 minutes to get our food. When you only get a short portion of time for a work lunch, 25 minutes definitely eats away at it! I'd go back but I'd try to go during off hours.
google avatar

Gunjan ..

Yelp
Great Lunch Options The Impossible Taco Salad is my top pick - both hearty and packed with flavor. Coupled with friendly staff and ample seating, this place is a winner. Looking forward to my next visit!
google avatar

Uli B.

Yelp
I like it. I had the Impossible Taco Salad and it was very tasty - seriously, I want to "meat" the person who can taste the difference between this and real meat. Honestly, this place has been only my "back-up" choice as I'd ideally wanted to go to Tender Greens, but that had closed down during the pandemic. It's not quite as good as Tender Greens, but it's a solid alternative for a decent and healthyish lunch in SoMa that won't break your bank.

Yelp
Quick Summary: - Located in the financial district, so order to receive takes longer during lunch hours - Good portions, great for lunch time - Ordering station is located on the left most side of the restaurant - Creative take on the fried chicken sandwich I visited here on a weekday during lunch time. Perhaps this isn't a great hour to enter because it's packed with working colleagues from different buildings, scrambling to get lunch. Lots of things were happening during the first time there; the pickup area is packed with people, the time to get my food took over twenty minutes (had to reschedule my meeting time), and due to the volume of people, it is impossible to hear your name being called out. Still, during those times, the staff is sincere to carry any picked up orders, that were left alone for some time to wander through the crowd, looking for its owner. After getting my lunch I hastily return to my office to eat before starting another work session. Also, my order had soup, but my lunch bag didn't contain a spoon, so another reason why I returned to the office. The soup was lower than lukewarm, but I was able to heat it back up. Moving onto the food. I ordered the half and half; a sandwich and soup combo. The sandwich is the "not so fried" chicken and the soup is "today's soup of the day" and it's corn. The portions were great for lunch hour -- light and easy to eat within lunch break. It was also light enough that I wouldn't start falling asleep afterwards. The soup is clear with chunks of chopped up corn and other vegetables. It's not creamy, so I liked that part as well. It was almost like a vegetable soup, but proportionally more corn. Due to the corn, the soup had a natural sweetness. It was a perfect dish because I was craving soup that day. I was impressed with how the fried chicken sandwich was done. At first, I didn't understand why it was called the "not so fried," even after reading the ingredients. It's roast chicken, but the sandwich was sprinkled with these flakes, that tasted exactly like the outer crust of a battered fried chicken. This was so good and so clever! If a person wanted to eat a fried chicken sandwich, but didn't want the heavy feeling in the stomach afterwards (from fried foods) this is a great choice! The only negative part I will say about it is that mine had a bit too much flakes, so if I take in a bite with a lot of them, it's very salty. Overall, the food experience was pretty good, it was only the ordering and waiting part that took a while, but I had colleagues with me, so I was able to let time pass by talking about food.
google avatar

Diane L.

Yelp
I usually order here for work lunches and they never disappoint! My favorite sandwich is the turkey avocado salsa verde and it has gouda in it! So good! All the ingredients are super fresh as well. My favorite salad is the kale and apple salad. You definitely get what you pay for here!
google avatar

Tim G.

Yelp
I came here because it was right next door to our office. I was looking for something hearty and was recommended the Sweet Heat Crispy Thai Chicken. Since it's made to order we were told that it would take a little while in order to come out. It was just before the lunch time rush but I already noticed that the online orders were starting to stack up. People were ordering in advance and picking up. It did take a while to get the sandwich but it's worth the wait. In addition to the sandwich I also got a bag of route 11 dill pickle potato chips. Those were so good with the sandwich. For our office opening we had catering from Mendocino Farms. Definitely a solid boxed lunch. I had the Chicken Pesto Caprese with a bag of potato chips and a cookie for dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed both sandwiches.

Yelp
Ready to eat happy? Come to Mendocino Farms! This high quality café will never disappoint you. From sandwiches, soups, and salads, there are many clean munchies to choose from the menu if you wish to definitely come back for another day or two. There are even fountain drinks and some healthy ones like "Get Your Greens" and Thai turmeric pictured below. Mendocino Farms has the freshest ingredients handpicked and handmade to you from well trained chefs. Its atmosphere has an airy feel, but not as big as the one at California St. There's even a grassy bench where it's safe to sit on; just like when you lay on a grassy ground. Background songs sure fit the theme of Mendocino's atmosphere. What's for lunch? How about a vegan samosa wrap, beet & black barley salad, and a rose lemonade? Talk about a great greenery combo. Leafy greens, grains, legumes, and a floral finish. Last other year, I had my tofu banh mí and curried couscous in the other Mendocino Farms of California St. Feel free to follow my best combos. You'll leave feeling happier afterwards.

Yelp
So, I would always order the Bahn Mi Sandwich on Ciabatta, but today I ordered the Peruvian Steak Sandwich and wow...it was amazing. I don't think they could ever do any wrong.
google avatar

Vidya K.

Yelp
Always the best option for lunch. I have tried most items on their menu and love every one of their item. My current favorite - mango and chicken salad. The seeds/nuts add to the crunch. Overall high on deliciousness.

Jeremy D.

Yelp
First time trying this place after visiting the Sales Force Tower. The Peruvian Steak Sandwich exceeded my expectations, and the staff was all great. One of the staff, Adolfo, was really helpful with the menu choices and really solidified this being a good lunch spot!
google avatar

Tien N.

Yelp
Got free lunch from the boss today! The Peruvian Steak sandwich toasted with avocado was quite filling. It didn't feel heavy, and the meat was soft and flavorful. Because the bread was toasted and wrapped up in foil, by the time it arrived to the office, the bread was somewhat soft and the bottom was soggy with sauce. However, it didn't change the taste and the food was good to me!

Yelp
Came during the lunch hour on a weekday... This place was busy! There was a line out the door, to place orders and a crowd of hungry customers inside, waiting for their food. I would highly recommend ordering online prior to heading over, to minimize your wait time. Although the venue was spacious, it felt crowded because of the sheer volume of customers. This location provides indoor and outdoor seating, which was ideal for our group. We chose a table outside, so we could enjoy the nice weather while chomping down on lunch. The wait to pick up our food was fairly quick. Our pager buzzed and the next thing you know, we're digging in. One of our group's lunch order was missing. It might have been due to a busy atmosphere or perhaps the staff misheard the order, but I deducted a star for the miss. Other than that, the staff was friendly and helpful. All employees were wearing masks to follow COVID safety protocols. I chose the Peruvian Steak Sandwich. Spicy aji amarillo marinated steak with Oaxacan cheese, herb aioli, red onions, tomatoes, shredded romaine on a toasted potato roll. The proportion was a good size. I originally thought I would not be able to finish the sandwich in one go, but it was delicious and I did finish it all! The steak was tender and the mixture of sauces really made the sandwich irresistible. I would recommend the Peruvian Steak Sandwich if you like unique flavors with a dash of spicy. Overall, I would recommend Mendocino Farms as a convenient lunch spot in the heart of SF. It's great for larger crowds, smaller groups, and solo venturers. However, if you're in a rush or crunched on time, I would not recommend this location for lunch.

Yelp
My first time here and I walk by it all the time, we were on the way to the theater and just needed quick bite. I chose the half sandwich combo - the vegan banh mi sandwich on ciabatta and vegan lentils soup. The meal was super yummy. The sandwich was perfect and flavorful and the bread was super soft. The soup was also very good and not too salty. There green kale and yellow turmeric drinks are good and addicting. CC accepted
