Southern Smoke’s New Initiative Offers Free Mental Health Care to Service Industry Workers | Eater Houston

"The local mental-health nonprofit partner helps translate research into service by supporting the expansion of free mental health care for food and drink workers across Texas. Research associated with the organization found that the food and drink industry ranks among the worst for employee mental health—due to long hours, high stress, physical labor and limited employer-sponsored insurance—information that informed the need for this targeted program." - Brittanie Shey

I did not have a good experience with this nonprofit unfortunately. Fortunately, I understand that this was just not for me. And that I will attract what I need for this journey to help not only military veterans but my community as well. This experience has given me so much clarity. Next time I’ll take heed to the red flags though so that I won’t have to endure the agony of dealing with people who don’t want to see you succeed. Creating healthy boundaries is a must and that was definitely something I was not going to be able to do with the people I had to communicate with.
