The 38 Best Restaurants in Lima | Eater

"Limeños usually go to their nearest local market, but if you’re looking to visit one, go to Mercado No. 1 Surquillo, the best organized in the city. Discover Peruvian produce, seafood, herbs, and local fruits like cherimoya, lucuma, and granadilla. Luciano Pachas opened the popular El Cevichano stall in 2014 and has expanded three times since in order to accommodate throngs of guests coming to taste his ceviche. Go for the mixto with chicharrón (fried calamari), one of the most popular dishes. [$-$$]" - Liliana López Sorzano

Marketplace with stalls selling fruit, meat, souvenirs, clothes. When we visited the inside space was closed, it was all outdoor stalls (perhaps it's no longer open inside?). Not a huge place, just a few rows of stalls. Fun to try some fruits previously unknown to us. Sellers don't hassle you to buy from them, which is nice.

El market is no longer active int the building, but you are able to see the stands outside and it’s very lively, even on an odd raining day!

I stumbled upon this market during my visit to Lima and was instantly captivated by the array of fresh produce, local specialties, and the lively atmosphere. The stalls boast a kaleidoscope of colors, offering everything from exotic fruits to aromatic spices. The sheer variety is a testament to the rich culinary tapestry of Peru. The vendors are friendly and eager to share their knowledge about the products. It is a must visit. They have a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and dried fruits. You can buy fresh juices, smoothies and sandwiches. As a tourist would recommend going with a guide here so that you can learn more about the local produce.

Large local market. Excellent selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and seafood. A nice stop if you’re in Miraflores Lima Peru Not a top turistic attraction, but in my personal opinion a place you should visit if you want to explore the “local” side of Peru. Enjoy it I wish we’d have more fruits and vegetables in US, not to mention the prices, 0.99 cents for an orange 🍊 🥲 in Florida 🇵🇪

Great place to stop if you are in miraflores and want to experience the real food of Lima and not in an expensive restaurant. Here you can find many restaurants who sell "menu" which is a cheap delicious meal of your choice that comes with an appetizer, drink, and entree which costs from 12-16 soles depending on what you order. There is also fresh juices you can order 7 soles a pop and people who sell tamales in the morning at around 2 soles a tamale. Awesome spot. If you are on a budget or just want to experience the real cuisine of normal Limeans you need to stop here
