We visited Mercado Central as a group of four. Booking was easy, and we were seated at a lovely table by the window. The restaurant has a nice, clean atmosphere and the setting is charming.
The menu is full of Spanish ingredient names, which might be tricky if you're not familiar with them—definitely needed the server to explain a few things. We ordered three lunch menus and one main (with three different starters and four different mains), aiming to sample a good variety.
Unfortunately, service was slow: about 20 minutes to take our order and another 40 minutes for the food to arrive, even though the restaurant was starting to empty around 2:30pm. Presentation was good and the food tasted fine, but nothing really stood out. Some mains came much later than others, and by then, the earlier plates had already gone cold.
We shared everything between us but left feeling quite hungry. Portions were very small, and for the price, the value just wasn’t there.
Overall, a nice place with a lovely setting and decent food, but the experience didn’t live up to the expectations—and certainly didn’t fill us up.
