3 Days in The Algarve

"A must for food-lovers, this lively market brims with the aromas and colors of fresh fish and shellfish, juicy fruits, and vibrant vegetables; the cheerful bustle of shoppers and chatty traders sets the scene, while a coffee on the terrace brings breathtaking views of Lagos Bay and nearby shops offer regional artisan produce." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

A charming and authentic little market in the heart of Lagos! Mercado Municipal is definitely worth a visit, especially if you're into fresh fish, local produce, and a great atmosphere. While the selection isn’t huge, the quality is high, and it’s fun to walk around and soak up the local vibe. The building has been nicely renovated, and there are also small stalls with souvenirs and local specialties. A great place to start your day if you’re looking for something a bit more local and less touristy.

Good place to visit in Lagos. Some great fresh produce available as well as mementos to take home. More signage would be advantageous The wine shop upstairs was particularly good with very friendly and knowledgeable proprietors.

Had the best Figs i ate in my life from one of the stands at this market. The fish looked really really fresh. Can't speak on prices since i have no idea what things go for locally, but the products looked really good.

A true local gem! Mercado Municipal de Lagos offers an authentic taste of Portuguese life. The ground floor is all about fresh fish—caught the same morning and beautifully displayed. Even if you’re not buying, it’s worth seeing for the atmosphere alone. Upstairs, you’ll find fruit, vegetables, regional delicacies, and sometimes small crafts or local treats. The vendors are friendly and proud of what they sell. Everything is colorful, fresh, and full of character. Great prices too! If you’re visiting Lagos, don’t miss this place. Come early in the morning to experience the real vibe—and grab a coffee from a nearby café while you soak in the energy of the town waking up.

Relativity small place but I managed to find a lady who grows spicy peppers and makes sauces with them and she was so lovely and helpful!

Lagos, Portugal – A Breathtaking Coastal Gem Lagos is a stunning coastal city in Portugal, known for its golden beaches, dramatic cliffs, and rich history. The charming old town, vibrant atmosphere, and delicious seafood make it a must-visit destination. I had an amazing time exploring its scenic beauty, relaxing by the ocean, and experiencing the welcoming local culture. Every moment in Lagos was unforgettable, from the stunning sunsets to the lively streets. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation!

The market has 3 levels. The ground floor has fish and seafood stalls. The 1st floor has vegetables and misc stores. The 2d (top) floor has a restaurant. The o ly viewing spot towards the water s from the restaurant. The mrke is surprisingly small and not "exciting" as man mrke in other cities are. Okay to visiting yo n o chase oo bu not as a "tourist attraction".
