Mexico City’s Public Markets Are in Danger of Disappearing | Eater

"This central market is known for carrying rare and specialty foods—European cheeses, unusual local produce, and regional delicacies such as armadillo and crocodile—which has made it a regular stop for food-focused tourists and culinary tours. Tour operators bring visitors to sample items that echo dishes from trendsetting restaurants, and vendors often sell ingredients brought directly from their villages, offering a direct link to rural food traditions. The market functions as both a site of cultural education and a site of irony: many of the foods celebrated by urban diners remain inaccessible to the lower-income communities that originated them." - Madeleine Wattenbarger

Sexto Colectivo’s Pop-Up Dinners Are Among Mexico City’s Most Exciting | Eater

"A bustling food market and source of inspiration where a food writer and eventual collaborator first encountered the chef behind the collective; it functions as a meeting place for cooks and writers and a backdrop for discovering ingredients and culinary projects. The market helped spark a guide-writing effort and served as the provenance for conversations that led to joining the pop-up dinners." - Laura Tillman

🌮 Absolutely amazing! The tacos here are to die for – fresh, flavorful, and made just right. Even the tamarind was delicious and filling, a perfect surprise to go with the meal. The atmosphere feels welcoming and authentic, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are fair for the quality you get, and everything tasted like it was made with care. Definitely one of those spots you’ll want to come back to again and again. Highly recommend!

Best salsa ever. Best hot sauces ever. Food for the soul. Food for the corazon. Honestly the best carnitas mix burrito I have ever eaten in my entire life. Truth.

Great food and friendly service. The staff were very understanding of my poor Spanish and even translated words correctly (which I found very helpful.) The dish I got was hot and fresh and not overly spicey. IT HAD A TASTE TO COME BACK FOR!

I love getting quesadillas here, we don't really come here often, and I haven't tried most of the menu but we come here with friends and usually get the same thing. There's is a little market type area to get fruits and candy and some baked goods. I like coming here .
