The 18 Best Restaurants In Palma De Mallorca - The Infatuation

"The classic Spanish market bar has a long metallic counter, a lively local crowd, and a small menu of great regional dishes—which is exactly what you'll find at the Mercat de Santa Catalina. Come here for cheeses and jamón, and pop in and out of the handful of mostly-standing-room bars. Start at Bar Joan Frau for a breakfast sandwich in the morning or a variat for lunch, and then hop on over to Arume and order the dim sum del día. Your dumplings will arrive steaming and stuffed with langoustines, oxtail, or fish." - isabella noble

Located in a wonderful part of the city, we stopped during our morning run and loved the variety of local products. We also had a small Spanish breakfast and it was amazing!

Great place to go with several bars and restaurants inside. Prices and availability vary. But usually good value and great seafood as there's a lot of fish for sale in the market

The restaurants in the market are very good and the toilets are clean as a person is constantly cleaning.

We bought a few delicacies from here like dried spices, fruits and the rotisserie chicken. All delicious. We indulged the bought items by the park close by, under the trees on a sunny day. Bliss.

Most of it is not working in the morning, later on the diversion is not as great, as far as food goes, some places make and some just warm up things, however most don't bother adding prices. It is generally for the local folk and not so touristy-welcoming. Can't say I liked it. Didn't find anything to appeal for me, and came in twice. Didn't even get pictures inside, as there was nothing to take a picture of....

A really nice market, much smaller than Olivar Market but offer almost the same thing for a slightly fairer price and less crowded. There're standing bars with various tapas, deep-fried seafoods and grill service. Notice that no fish stands open on Monday.

We went around 1 pm on a weekday and found plenty fruits and food items to enjoy. It was not super busy thankfully. Street parking was easy. It has a few coffee / bar options and other things like cheese, fish etc like any such market. Very clean and can easily visit under an hour. Great location as it’s close to other things in central Palma

Prices are really crazy. 90 eur per kilo of red gambas, 5 eur per oyster….Sounds like a restaurant, not a market 😅😅😅🥲

Yelp
[theFRESHmarket]you can find everything in here: fruits, veggies, cheese, fish, seafood, meat, spices(salts), nuts, treats, pastries, homemade food, sushie, take-away, warm food, iceCream, spirits, plants, candles... like I said everything. Out of the market you find lovely amazing coffee spots for a break. Great little market with amazing quality, variety and great prices.

Yelp
Wonderful place for shopping or a quick breakfast or lunch. Most of the cafes and pastry shops are open very early, and they have a huge selection of Mallorcan tapas. Delicious, authentic, fresh, and cheap!

Yelp
This is still somewhat of an insider tip because everybody goes to Mercat Olivar. This closed market is smaller but equally cool - if not a little cooler. You'll find everything here: fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmers, fresh fish, seafood and meat (although I'm a vegetarian so I don't buy that). There's a guy who has a walk in fridge with fresh herbs and spices - one of my favorite stands (he's other stuff is more pricy so j just go there for the herbs and spices...). Prices are generally very good and it's also fun to get a coffee and a sandwich from one of the bars inside - or from one of the lovely cafes around the market. Early in the morning is the best time to go. You get parking around the market and the best selection of food...

Yelp
Quite impressive market. Lots of choices inside. There was no fishy smell at all despite the wet fish market. Mostly clean and organized inside

Yelp
Jamon Iberico, fresh seafood and meats, beautiful seasonal veggies, freshly baked breads and pastries, freshly brewed coffee, cerveza and anything else you can think of is in this mercat. Very clean and located in a friendly neighborhood. Must visit when in Palma.

Yelp
After having eaten for days the typical spanish specialties (Tortilla de patatas, bocadillo de Jamon and also the fantastic Frito mallorquín), I thought of eating just tapas for lunch, the day before leaving Mallorca. My friend took me to the Mercat of Santa Catalina for that. Not too busy there, it was already noon, everything very clean, although that's probably easy as it's not a big market ( unlike the Boqueria in Barcelona....). Anyway, the 2 spots there for tapas had everything you could desire when it comes to Tapas: Gambas fritas, Albondigas, Pimientos fritos, Calamares, Pan con Sobrasada, Jamon, Bacalao, Champiñones al ajillo etc.......Everything you could possible desire in Tapas, it's there. Prices were pretty good, I guess because it's not a "trendy" location. We drank with it Cerveza Mahou and everything felt just good! On the other hand they also have Sushi Bar at the Mercat, something unthinkable a few years ago, I guess proof that the "gentrification" and/or "globalization" is apparently unstoppable (something I don't look forward to, not at all...). Anyway, I was told that it's a pretty good place for having Sushi with, yes, Spanish red or white wine! Go figure. All in all, as usual, very good memories of Spain when it comes to food. Hasta la vista!
