Barcelona’s Best Markets: Where to Eat at La Boqueria and More | Eater

"A bright, recently renovated historic market in a less-touristy slice of the Eixample with high steel-and-glass ceilings and easy-to-navigate aisles, offering an inviting, unhurried shopping-and-eating experience. It’s packed with casual stalls and counters for a snack or sit-down meal, from creative toasted ‘bikini’ sandwiches made with unexpected fillings to an old-fashioned chicken shop serving croquetes, fried or rotisserie chicken and other comforting lunchtime fare. The spacious layout and immaculate floors make it especially pleasant for browsing." - Chris Ciolli

5 best hidden food markets to explore in Barcelona - SilverKris

"A market with strong local roots and a friendly, non‑touristy atmosphere, it dates from the 1930s and is celebrated for its diverse food stalls and family businesses that have evolved over generations. A traditional legume stall that began as a workers’ convenience now also runs a vegetarian takeaway and sells ready-to-eat comfort dishes like Catalan fava beans, fricandó and trinxat; a hybrid fish shop/bar lets customers choose fresh catches that are cooked to order (popular plates include seafood rice and sautéed octopus), and an expert meat stall sources certified Galician and other top European cuts that can be prepared in a small back kitchen and enjoyed with fried potatoes and padrón peppers. Regulars praise the market’s tasting corners and bars, and warn newcomers to arrive hungry." - Mireia Font

This market is really great and less overrun like Boqueria. Here you find great seafood, meat, vegetables and fruits stalls as well as cafes and restaurants. It’s frequented by locals and quality here is great.

Clean, Local, and Full of Flavor — A Must-Visit Market! Mercat de Ninot is one of Barcelona’s most underrated gems. Unlike the more tourist-heavy markets, this one feels local, authentic, and refreshingly clean. The layout is modern and well-organized, making it easy to stroll through without feeling overwhelmed. From fresh seafood and meats to colorful produce and artisan cheeses, everything here screams quality. There are also excellent tapas stalls and small bars inside where you can grab a quick bite or glass of wine — we loved the jamón ibérico and the grilled squid. Prices are fair, vendors are friendly, and it’s clear this is where locals actually shop. Whether you’re looking to cook your own meal or just want a quiet place to experience Barcelona’s culinary soul, Mercat de Ninot delivers. Tip: Come hungry and take your time — it’s a sensory experience.

If you’re looking for an excellent spot in Barcelona to buy top‑quality meat and fish, Mercat del Ninot is a truly local gem, far from the typical tourist hustle, but an authentic hub for food lovers. Although well‑renovated, the market retains a neighborhood atmosphere, mostly locals shop here. It’s clean, and far less crowded than other markets. Lots of bars and restaurants inside.

Stumbled here on our way to Disfrutar. Love this market as it’s not as crowded and touristy. Talked to the local fish monger and got so many tips and information all about seafood. They know their craft! Also had fresh seafood tapas at La Medusa across the fishmonger. I could shop here everyday if I live in this beautiful city.

We arrived a bit late with the kids, and most of the seafood stalls were already closed. Only a few butcher shops and fruit stands were still open. We found a restaurant attached to a butcher shop and finally got to enjoy some Spanish grilled peppers, sizzling beef, and even rabbit meat—haha! As for the Price ,i would say is average. The strawberries were huge, 10 euros for a box, and they looked great. Not sure if they’re sweet, though. There were also tiny mini strawberries, so small that the kids couldn’t stop laughing when they saw them.

The market is small when compare to Mercado De La Boqueria. The food of the restaurants outside the market is quite local, but not tasty enough. I ordered the razor clams and they are overcooked and they taste too salty. Quite disappointed.

Yelp
This has changed a lot. This is such a cute place to shop and eat. Find all your stuff here. Minus the clothing that would actually be outside. But other than clothing they have the fruits, fish, meat and cheese here. They also have Mercadona. I'm sure there is parking but not 100% on the garage. Nice cute location. Clean and modern inside.

Yelp
This market was fantastic! Is it new??? So clean, bright, and spacious. Not large, but you can definitely purchase everything you need in one place. No tourists in sight! Is this review going to change that? I hope not by much. It's not exactly in a high traffic/touristy area. Everyone shopping here was a local for sure. Just an observation, but has anyone noticed that a lot of females work behind the counters as the butchers and fishmongers in Barcelona? I think it's awesome.
