The Best Mac and Cheese in Bucks County | Eater Philly

"The menu offerings and grab-and-go selection provide a rotating roster of delicious culinary options at Mercatino Italiano Quakertown. You may find the popular macaroni and cheese in the grab-and-go case and if you’re having an event catered, check out the two macaroni and cheese offerings on this special menu — a three-cheese option and a Tuscan mac and cheese which features three cheeses, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, and a creamy garlic cheese sauce." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

The Best Hoagie Spots in Bucks County | Eater Philly

"Quakertown’s Mercatino Italiano offers hoagies with a twist as these sandwiches come in the form of an expansive panini roster for the Upper Bucks community to enjoy. Select your favorite meat and cheese combination on your choice of a five-inch or ten-inch seeded semolina roll — hot pressed or cold — and get ready to dive into this Italian favorite. Two offerings that may pique your interest include The Italiano, which features mortadella, soppressata, prosciutto, and fresh mozzarella topped with roasted red peppers, oil and garlic, and a balsamic glaze, and the porchetta muffuletta which is a concoction of cured roasted porchetta, mortadella, and fresh mozzarella with a cherry pepper and olive spread." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Google
5 Stars – Absolutely Incredible! I ordered a strawberry shortcake for my nieces wedding with just 6 days' notice, and this bakery absolutely blew me away. Not only did they come through on such short notice, but the cake was beyond delicious – light, fresh, and perfectly balanced, with the most flavorful strawberries and fluffy cream. Every guest commented on how amazing it tasted! But what really stood out was the service. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect – from communication to presentation. You can tell they truly care about what they do and about their customers. If you're looking for a bakery that delivers quality, care, and incredible flavor – this is it. We’re so grateful and will definitely be back for future celebrations!

Google
Great shaved Ribeye cheesesteak with cooper sharp and onions. The Italian Pork with Provolone and Broccoli Rabe was delicious. We also bought some Lobster Ravioli and Tomato Bisque which we ate the following day both were excellent. Nice Italian market with many delicious menu Items and Italian specialties.Looking forward to more visits when I'm in the area.

Google
Was in visiting family and my sister suggested this place!! We did take out !! They have a cute little store offering imported Italian olive oils, prepared meals, beautiful and delicious selections of fresh bakery desserts.. Service is great they treat you like you are family!! The food is amazing!! everything's fresh!! Got their ribeye cheese steak, Their seeded rolls are amazing they actually hold up to the meat The hoagies are very good portion sized and flavoring is savory beefy goodness. Their chicken vodka burrata is to die for their vodka sauce is Soo good...Also meatball Parm is delicious as well.. I definitely recommend if you are in the area

Google
Amazing little shop. I'm pissed it took me so long to find them. I plan on working my way through every sandwich on the menu. And it isn't just the sandwiches, the sides are amazing as well. Their seafood salad was actually a bowl full of real seafood and not 50% mayo like most other places. Would go here every week if I could

Google
A wonderful Italian market. The food here was amazing. We enjoyed the Vodkaburrata: Breaded Chicken Cutlet | Fresh Mozzarella | Vodka Sauce | Burrata | Oil + Garlic. Ribeye: Thinly-sliced Rib Eye Steak | Fried Onions | Cooper Sharp Cheese. Truffle Mushroom Ribeye :Thinly-sliced Rib Eye Steak | Fried Onions | Sauteed Mushrooms | Pecorino Black Truffle Cheese. Some fried sides of Cheese Curds & Battered Fries. While waiting for our food, we were able to pick up some fresh Pasta, Desserts, Sauces, & Soups. The dessert area is large and something for everyone. Very friendly staff.

Google
I bought pressed Panini tray for a party. The website said for 20 sandwiches it was $72. When I went to pick up my sandwiches I was charged $85 and told that the price online was never updated. The sandwiches were not pressed Panini. They were just sandwiches on an Italian roll. They were good, but I found a piece of plastic in one of the sandwiches. Will not buy from them again

Google
What a magnificent cafe, deli, market. An Italian lover's dream. We ordered sandwiches, desserts and pasta salads. They did not disappoint. My favorite were the orrancino pizza balls! We ordered two chicken sandwiches and eggplant Parmesan.

Ryan S.

Google
Got the cheesesteak, a charcuterie board and a napoleon. Has to be the best cheesesteak in the entire lehigh valley area. One of the best I've eaten, the napoleon was a little dried out though. Still 5 stars just cause the cheesesteak was amazing

Yelp
Not great! Never override your first impression! We walked in one afternoon and some guy was mopping the floor in an aggressive way. Shouted out loud watch out or we're closing WTF it was like 5p.m. Bad vibe. This is when they were still Giacomo's (which they had to change bc the Easton owners allegedly made them change the name) Anyway so about a month or so ago we go in were greeted nicely and properly by a young girl. Another girl packed the prepared food..fine. Well we get home and wow the salt in those flavorless meatballs was overwhelming.. sauce was sour. Arancini and the other stuff were just passable. Won't be back again.

Yelp
Always makes date day lunch my favorite part of the day! Everything is fresh and amazing! It's a must stop for us when in area and do yourself a favor grab some prepped food for dinner and jelly cookie for afternoon coffee! Simply the best!

Yelp
I came here with just one item in mind and ended up getting a few, as well as a list of items I want to get next time in. On this day though, the focus was on their Cheesesteak. I had heard from some viewers of my channels that this place had one comparable to Philly and I simply had to find out! So...this was not a lie. I will preface it by saying the price tag on them is a bit steep ($17) but this was just as good as most of the big time players in the Philly area, and it's better than a ton of old school Philly spots that people rave about constantly. The Ribeye was not shredded to nothingness and it was also not huge slabs, just a nice rough chop. The onions were a bit larger in size than I prefer, but they melted in your mouth so this really wasn't even a factor. The roll was brought in from NYC and stood up very well to the large amount of meat and cheese on this guy. Lastly, they carry cooper sharp cheese which is what I prefer on a cheesesteak. Overall great experience from the sandwich and their dessert selection was so insane I simply had to try something from it. I brought my girlfriend a cannoli (which I snuck a bite of and it was quite good) but I got myself a Pistachio Lobster Tail (Sfogliatelle). Such a delicious flavor and a huge crunch. From start to finish every bite may have been crunchier than the last! The pistachio flavor was balanced nicely in the cream filling and had some more crushed pistachio on top. I would absolutely get this again no matter the cost (but for reference I believe it was $6). Giacomo's Italian Market - Didn't Suck!

Yelp
A great specialty market. The owners wanted to replicate an italian market and there are a lot of unique items here. From fresh prepared foods to frozen to bakery to a deli with Italian curd meats. The baked items are amazing! You need to walk in here with a sense of self control. I stopped for a breakfast sandwich and got a piece of ricotta coffee cake as well. I wanted to buy everything in the prepared foods section! The soups and the pasta with sauces looked amazing! I will definitely come back!

Yelp
New Italian market in the Trainers Corner shopping center. The bakery looks really great , they have frozen food and Italian

Yelp
I was here last year as well as this year. GREAT FOOD ! We had the italiano sandwich. We also picked up a tray of eggplant parm for the next day. I must say I was very pleased ! Keep up the great work . We will definetly be back.

Yelp
Omg. The food amazing. From the sandwiches, salads, grab-and-go case to the desserts. Wow! Everything in this place is awesome. The only problem I have with them is the extra 3% or so that is added on to your bill if you use a credit card. Isn't that part of the price of doing business? But..... the place is great. And I'll still go. :)

Yelp
Meat the SEXY SANDWICHES OF PENNSYLVANIA The PORCHETTA MUFFULETTA - fresh mozz, Porchetta, mortedella, roasted peppers, cherry peppers, and olives SPICY MEATBALL - pork/beef meatballs, broccoli rabe, spicy aioli, parmesan ROASTED ITALIAN BEEF - tender pulled beef, broccoli rabe, sharp provolone .... All on a sesame semolina roll ! I've reviewed this joint when it was formally called Giacomo's but now changed it's name to Mercatino Italiano Quakertown ( kind of has the PRINCE 's "ARTIST FORMALLY KNOWN AS PRINCE" catchiness to it) This joint is a shining beacon of Sandwich perfection in terms of quality , size, and prices . First off, the roll is exceptional. Firm crusty exterior, nice "chew" , and soft insides . The seeded "Philly style" roll gives a strong Sandwich Hand grip with it's easy to hold little bumps, & the seeded part also gives blind people something to read while they eat. To my knowledge, this is the only Muffuletta in the LV , maybe Stravinos has them but I'm not too impressed with their Sandwiches. And without a doubt , this is the greatest meatball sub I have ever devoured in the state. Every bite of each Sandwich had the proper ratio of contents represented and it was packed to the Sandwich gills, but remained in tact to the last bite . Great perks of going here include the OIL & BALSAMIC self serve sample bar ... So you can lube up your Sandwich , as well as knock down a few oily shots . There's also FREE shots of espresso if you order any premise made desserts, which are freaking amazing. These bad boys were washed down with fancy Italian sodas and a side of TENTACLE SALAD. I knew it was gonna be a sexy sensational feast when I had muff, balls, n puss all at the same time on the table. Katrina Purdy n me went 2 days in a row and shared the meatball n muff Sandwiches . The very next day I tried the Italian roast beef for my lunch break. Extra bonus ... Pet Smart is next door so you can go look at kittens and hermit crabs afterwards . Adorable creatures are good for digestion. Keep that SANDWICH HAND STRONG #sandwichpresident

Yelp
Absolutely incredible gem I found today! Everything that you order is made fresh right there on the spot. I had a crab brioche Panini with arugula and long hot aioli which was absolutely mouthwatering. The pastries and baked goods are all handmade in house and the specialty groceries are out of this world! Such a nice little Italian specialty market right here, in Quakertown no less!! They also have soups and freshly prepared me to go! Do not hesitate to visit you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
100% recommend. Such a great little spot to grab an espresso and a treat. Super convenient location with limited, but lovely outdoor seating.

Yelp
Amazing pulled pork or steak sandwiches! I like the sauce on the side. Usually enough food for leftovers. Large selection of sides and Lucious desserts. Love the store selection of dried pasta from Italy & jarred sauce choices. In the refrigerator section there are many heat & serve, ready made meals.

James E.

Yelp
Great food best cheese steak in quakertown!!! If you live near quakertown it is definitely worth the trip.

Trey M.

Yelp
I had the best cookies of my life. I would 100% get the chocolate chip cookie. 5/5 stars.
google avatar

Cassie C.

Yelp
Excellentè!!! I loved walking into this specialty grocery, deli, and a case of other fresh items. I had the Giacomo Cutlet Slightly Pressed Sandwich...Outstanding!!!!! The bread was crisped perfectly, and the other ingredients were fresh as well. Definitely a place to stop into to for some great food or groceries.

Melanie I.

Yelp
I was just here at lunch to grab a jar of sauce. I decided to order a sandwich and check out the pastry case. Over $40.00 later... This place is positively wonderful in every way. I work in the area and will be here at least once a week until I retire. The selection is insane, the people are very friendly and helpful and my eggplant parm sandwich was the best I had ever had. FOUR slices stacked HIGH on a brioche bun with fresh mozzarella and tomato sauce, and a thin layer of pesto on the bottom bun. Wow, do yourself a favor and shop this Gem in Quakertown.

Yelp
Very nice Italian market/deli. Much needed in the area. Portions are great, I picked up a chicken parm and fettuccine Alfredo out of the ready made case. It fed 3 with leftovers- I will return for the sandwiches and Italian wedding soup with got rave reviews from another customer. Outstanding product and service.

Max G.

Yelp
I went with friends and was the first to complete my order via their kiosk. I ordered the chicken cutlet sandwich and an order of fries. It took 45 minutes to get my food after people who ordered after were walking out with theirs. Honestly sandwich was dry and also wasn't made to how I ordered it. No explanation of why it took so long. My friends received their food and finished before I got mine. They loved theirs so I'm assuming this is a one off for them but definitely put a sour taste in my mouth.

Trish P.

Yelp
Go to Mercatino Italiano and you feel like you stepped into Italy. Delicious and huge breakfast/lunch/dinner sandwiches. They also have an expansive pastry case and a grab and go section with homemade food and soups ready for you to heat up at home. There are a few tables and counter seating, or get your food to go. It's a don't miss if you want homemade delicious, food fast.

Joe M.

Yelp
Great people. Friendly and the market is real beautiful. So nice to be close to work, Sands jeep

Mary B.

Yelp
Mercatino Italiano can best be described as a trip into an authentic Italian bodega!! From the market items to the frozen prepared foods, to the exquisite bakery items, to the freshly prepared take out foods, to the cold and hot sandwiches- it exceeds all expectations!! Everything is prepared with great care and with the highest quality ingredients!!! Stop in- you won't regret it!! ( did I mention the steak sandwich from heaven???)
google avatar

Radostin K.

Yelp
Great place and great food! Authentic ambience as well and great customer service too. If you want a good meal with authentic Italian taste, then this place fits the bill for you.

Yelp
Catered my daughter's wedding and food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!!! The staff was terrific, special shout-out to Cierra for her guidance and attention to detail !! The grazing table was incredible, food delicious and those cookies were a huge hit ! Thank You so much!!!!

Donkey K.

Yelp
This place is the Lebron James of establishments. It's the best food of all time. Great vibes. And the service is unbelievably fast. I had the cheesesteak and it was out of this world! No but seriously, it's really really good.

Matt V.

Yelp
Awesome ribeye cheesesteak. One of the best I have ever had. Can't wait to come back and try their other delicious looking sandwiches!
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
A neighbor recommended this place to me and I am so glad I went. I came here on a mission for baked goods only. Originally from Philly, I always compare my cannolis to Termini's. This place serves a great cannoli and the s'mores cookie was amazing. Lots of imported Italian items, prepared food items in the refrigerator cases and even a deli in the back to get some freshly made sandwiches or sliced cheeses/meats. I plan on taking a trip back to grab some of the prepared chicken parm/piccata/bruschetta dishes from the refrigerator case for the next dinner I host along with more cannolis and sweet treats.
google avatar

Frank S.

Yelp
The cheese steaks are the best I ever had. So was my wife's turkey hoagie. A little pricey but if you want the best you have to pay. Can't wait to go again.
google avatar

Vera S.

Yelp
LOVE the new name, but this will always be Giacomo's to me and my entire family! Delicious food, friendly people, and an amazing atmosphere. Best of luck at your 2nd location in Bethlehem. Keep it up!

Gina P.

Yelp
literally everything here is amazing and I'm not just talking about the food! but today I tried their crab cake sandwich. and honestly I never eat crab cake patties because most places just fill them. but it's hot, it's summer, and I wanted some seafood and OMG! I think I have a new fav on the menu! the food is the best in Quakertown and the services makes you feel like your family!!

Sherry W.

Yelp
Today for a treat I drove 40 minutes to what used to be my favorite Italian market only to be disappointed. I ordered 2 of the caprese charcuterie boards along with my other favorite items that I always pick up when I come to this market. After paying for two orders when I picked up my food, they said they combined the two orders into one for the charcuterie board. In past history I have always received two separate orders so I know how much food should be in an order. When I got home and opened it up, the size and the amount of the food in there was the same as one charcuterie board. Not two as they described. I am very upset about the size and the small amount of the board as this is definitely not two orders.
google avatar

Jenn A.

Yelp
I thought I was going into Michaels for supplies. Turns out this place was next door and the store front was so inviting I just had to go in!!! Full of wonderful Italian foods... went home with two sandwiches, arincini, soup, fresh pasta! The cheesesteak was out of this world good, better than anything Philly has to offer! The bun is perfect and it's packed full of meat! I got one with eggplant fresh mozz, tomatoes , arugula and pesto balsamic glaze. Again it was out of this world good!! 10/10 we will be back!!!!
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
A wonderful and robust selection of Italian specialty foods. I stopped in to look for a specific ingredient for baking and found a shop that reminds me of all the best offerings of the Italian Market in South Philly. They have a wide selection of speciality non perishable foods, as well as prepared grab and go meals, deli meats, and a bakery section. There's also a small seating area as well. Overall a wonderful addition to the area and I look forward to stopping in soon!
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
Im not from Quakertown, but I was intrigued to hear of this market and made my way up there and I've now been twice. If I was from Quakertown this may have gotten a 5 stars but as for Italian markets go it's just ehh. They do not have a large selection of goods - they have a small refrigeration case with some good products to take away and heat at home, the prices are fair. I'd say their big draws are the bakery which is actually pretty extensive and they have a deli counter that you can order hot food from. I haven't yet ordered food and the menu has a decent amount of offerings. If you're looking for Italian goods they have a small selection and a lot of the items are priced pretty high. Their prices for their own in house goods are definitely more fair. It's definitely I'd say a "boutique" market. Smaller selections with limited options but it gets the job done. I prefer more variety. But the bakery is very good. I also had a problem with being overcharged and the staff was extremely helpful and resolved the issue so great customer service. I'll have to try their prepared food to make a better call.
google avatar

Deb G.

Yelp
The ribeye cheesesteak is incredible! Seriously it's almost a religious experience! Delicious meat, cheese, carmelized onions in the most delicious Italian bread. The pastry case was eye candy! All superb! What a lucky find this was!

Kara M.

Yelp
Food is terrible. Service is even worse. Additionally, the owner doesn't care about the community, drives terrible, and cuts people off. Cigars are bad for you. I don't support this business and you shouldn't either.

Debbie S.

Yelp
If money isn't a concern this upper class market offers great food , deserts , it's always busy there are so many foods to choose from. We got 3 meals the container filled generously enough to split or have leftovers All said this is a great place to splurge on a budget , I would recommend it to anyone keeping in mind it's not always practical for a family too pick up food . Keep in mind this is take out only .

Russell T.

Yelp
TERRIBLE service! It is hard work placing an order with them and picking it up...forget it! The attitude of these people is awful. They look at you like they don't know what you are talking about. We have spent a good amount of money and the food is good but the attitude of the people will prevent me from ever ordering from them again.
google avatar

Jessie K.

Yelp
Got eggplant parm, Greek salad and garlic bread for mom and I for dinner tonight and it was A1!!!! yum I'll definitely be grabbing a dinner for us again in the future! I wish there was one in harleysville
google avatar

dan e.

Yelp
Great sandwiches! Great market items and incredible bakery items. We've had the Italiano Sub, Giacomo's Cutlet and Gio Cutlet sandwiches. All were my perfect sandwich! Will be back many times. The staff is also great, very knowledgeable and very friendly.

Fred S.

Yelp
The quality is very good on everything but is a little pricey. The fresh desserts are bountiful but are hit or miss on taste, some are really good while others so so. The personnel are very friendly and helpful. The hours of operations could be longer, only bad thing I can say about the place.
google avatar

Leslie M.

Yelp
Best crab cake sandwiches around! Can't beat their massive baked goods (in pastry size and selection) including Italian staples and creative confections

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Great desserts in a display case that you just can't pass without making a purchase. The problem then is making a choice. Don't feel like cooking?? Perfect! There are a ton of refrigerated meals. Balsamic vinegars? They've got them. Olive oil? No need to go anywhere else?? Sandwiches? Gelato?? They have them!! Relax with a sandwich and one of their unique sodas. Stop in, you won't be disappointed!!

Robert B.

Yelp
genuine Italian dishes and products sold here. Service was right on ! Pastries remind me of Brooklyn.

Peter S.

Yelp
This is a great establishment. I've been to a number of Italian markets and sandwich shops in New York, Philly, and Baltimore, and this absolutely holds its own among the upper echelon. The Giacomo Cutlet sandwich is excellent. Beyond the quality ingredients, I really appreciate the ratio of ingredients. Every ingredient has a chance to shine and none overpower the others in the sandwich. They have a solid mix of prepared foods and Italian imports as well. There's plenty to be excited about the moment you step inside.

Amy F.

Yelp
Just gooooo! Delicious sandwiches and prepared foods. Top notch and I will be back! We which was absolutely delicious! We did get it pressed how much I would not do again. It made the excellent bread way too crispy. I think the bread would be great without that. We took lots of goodies home! Even gluten-free peanut butter explosion for dessert! Can't wait to go back
google avatar

Mia W.

Yelp
Amazing. Seriously. Stopped in on a whim after hearing a review from a friend and was not disappointed. Anything from fresh pasta to pre-made meals at a reasonable price. If you are in a pinch for homemade treats, this is the stop you need to make. I'm already preparing my list for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a chocolate bomb, molten chocolate ganache and a cheesecake - these are the only two left. I had every intention of taking a picture of everything purchased but all were gone in a flash. Incredible. Some serious talent going on here and you have to try to believe. Thrilled to have an authentic Italian offering in my hometown. Nicely done, Giamcomo's!

Jane M.

Yelp
Just delicious .. had a chicken parm sandwich today and can't wait to try the rest of the menu!
google avatar

Lori M.

Yelp
This is an absolutely wonderful and delicious addition to the Quakertown area. I would travel here to shop if I lived out of the area. They are an Italian specialty store, with countless offerings imported in from ITALY. This place is the real deal. From the incredible scratch bakery, to the delish ready made meals that are available daily in the grab and go cases, to the imported Italian sodas (that I love), to the real bagels they bring in from NYC, to the fabulous olives, canned fish, marinated goodies etc and other wonderful goodies. There is much too much good stuff to list it all. I can't forget that they have a small specialty meats deli in the back, and also a counter to order fresh made foods like their yummy bagel breakfast sandwiches or one of their specialty Italian meat and cheese paninis. Last but not least...real Italian gelato. Oh, did I mention they make the most amazing catering trays and things I have ever seen? Or that you can order a gorgeous special occasion cake?? Seriously check this place out. You will not be sorry.

Amanda M.

Yelp
The Homemade Miranara Sauce that they make is excellent. I suggest it for any pasta and for pizza as well!
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
Sandwiches were huge, extremely fresh and absolutely delicious. We also got a few to-go sides that were just as tasty. Dessert was pretty good, too. It's so nice to have an authentic Italian deli in Quakertown.
