Beautiful covered market with a superabundance of top quality food stalls. Cheese, cured meats, fruit and veg, fresh pasta. The choice and quality under one roof are extraordinary. A lot of restaurants as well. Quite expensive but within reason

Mercato Storico Albinelli is an absolute gem in the heart of Modena. The atmosphere is lively and full of energy, with friendly vendors eager to share stories about their products and traditions. We had a wonderful time exploring the stalls and picking up some of the region’s finest specialties. The balsamic vinegar was outstanding, truly a piece of Modena’s culinary heritage. And, of course, we couldn’t leave without some authentic Parmigiano Reggiano. The market’s buzz makes the experience even more enjoyable, whether you’re shopping or simply soaking in the vibrant local culture. A must-visit for food lovers! ❤️

Even though I was told that it is tourist traps but it is good to experience some local food. Price consider high but as a tourist it is good for a just a little taste on everything.

The Mercato Storico Albinelli is a vibrant and authentic slice of Modena’s culinary and cultural heritage. Nestled in the city center, this historic market, dating back to 1931, is a paradise for food lovers and a must-visit for anyone exploring Modena. As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted by the lively atmosphere and a feast for the senses. The market boasts an impressive array of stalls offering fresh produce, fragrant cheeses, high-quality meats, seafood, and Modena’s famed specialties like balsamic vinegar and Parmigiano Reggiano. The vendors are friendly and knowledgeable, often eager to share the stories and traditions behind their products. The Art Deco architecture of the market adds to its charm, making it not only a culinary destination but also a place of historical and aesthetic interest. The central fountain and intricate details give it a timeless elegance.

Whenever I'm in Modena on one of my food & wine tours, I take an early morning stroll to this beautiful market in the historic centre with my guests or alone. It's full of locals going about their daily shopping and, though relatively small, contains all the food stuffs any household would need. There's lots of beautiful seasonal fruit and veg, including unusual varieties I've rarely seen elsewhere such as ovuli mushrooms and heirloom stone fruit. Coffee at Bar Schiavoni is a must and I love one of the traditional erbazzone pies for breakfast.

Balsamic vinegar. Parmesan cheese! Watched a YouTube video on things to do in Modena and this was on most lists. My wife is an excellent chef and I thought a trip to the farmer's market would be great! She scored great finds on paremesan reggiano and balsamic vinegar. As a community service notice to Americans, TRY EVERY BALSAMIC YOU CAN. We found a small local seller with a 5 year bottle which was AMAZING and the 12 and 25 year bottles were equally AWESOME! The produce there is fresh and of excellent quality. We enjoyed the meal that was made with those ingredients.
