The Best Food Markets in Rome

"The city's largest food market with more than 200 stalls, offering fresh food and produce, ranging from fruits and vegetables to eggs, cheese, and homemade pasta. Some stands have been open since 1924, spanning three generations." - Regan Stephens

"There are dozens of markets throughout Rome , and while many are threatened by the popularity of supermarkets, the Mercato Trionfale thrives just north of the Vatican. Some 200 stalls sell produce, cheese, eggs, meat, honey, fish, and housewares of a quality that's hard to replicate. Enter from Via Andrea Doria and explore the butchers' stalls, then head to the back where Rome's largest number of fish stalls are clustered next to farmers selling fresh-picked produce."

One of the best food markets in the world. Go there to eat pancetta sandwich, some oysters or to buy some food to prepare it yourself🦪

Excellent quality produce and baked goods, the stall owners were all very friendly and the prices were very fair. Definitely worth visiting as a tourist. Highly recommend the fresh strawberries from Terracina.

Amazing indoor market! It’s not a tourist trap which was our favorite thing about it. You can tell that people were there to actually get their shopping done. You’ll find everything from multiple butchers, produce vendors, specialty products and so much more. It’s really incredible and a refreshing stop to make from the typical tourist attractions in Rome.

If you are passionate about food and are in Rome, the Trionfale market is a must. It is a covered market located in the Trionfale district, a few steps from the historic center. The market is open every day, from 7am to 2pm, and offers a wide choice of fresh, local, high-quality produce. You will find seasonal fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, cheeses, cured meats, fresh pasta, bread and much more. The market stalls are run by small local producers, who are always happy to share their passion for food. You will be able to find unique and special products that you will hardly find elsewhere.

Loved this market. Even though it's quite near Vatican city it's not full of tourists so all you see is locals doing their daily shopping. You can buy all the produce you can imagine from veg to meat or fish or fresh pasta. Great quality and very reasonable prices
