Super chill vibe, very family friendly with folks playing board games and gathering to catch up, large tables and lots of room, good for large groups. It's a good place to study with lots of table and ample room for all your materials, wifi is steady, didnt see many outlets though, got a nice patio area with plenty of chairs. Really liked the art work and decorations, felt like I was stepping into a mystical place, a land of magic. Drinks specials are the best way to go, plenty of choices and variety. They do close at 6 pm though so make sure you pack up earlier and give the nice staff time to wrap.

Came right after church & this is definitely not your typical coffee shop. When I walked in it felt like I stepped into another dimension. Fun decor and always great to find hidden gems close to home, paired with delicious coffee. I'm not really a coffee girl but I know when I taste 10/10 coffee! I got the mystery shock it has macadamia nut white mocha w/ oat milk! It got me at macadamia nut YUMMM! There are so many flavors that I must try

I wanted to swing by Merfolk on my way to work and ended up arriving a bit before their official open time of 7:30, but the doors were open at 7:25 so it was nice I didn't have to wait! Taylor was very friendly (especially for the early hour lol) and greeted me promptly when I walked in. I wasn't sure what to order off the special menu and Taylor took the time to explain the concept to me and give his suggestion (the maple one which was delicious!). I was a little hesitant as all of the specialty drinks seemed to have a ton of syrup in them and I like my coffee less sweet, but he said it was no problem to make any of the drinks half-sweet which I did. I liked that they were down to use my coffee tumbler that I brought with me, and the coffee was out super fast. The maple latte was delicious and fit the cooler weather perfectly! The theme and decor of the shop is a lot of fun, and I particularly enjoyed the big mural on the front wall (the dragon bats are the best!). I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more coffees!

Rating: 4.2/5 [take out] The cashier lady was very sweet and helpful in answering all of my family's questions. I love that a lot of their lattes already come with oat milk so we do not have to ask for alternative milk. For the Yelp event, they gave us bags of sprinkles which added to the magical vibes of Merfolk Coffee. Iced Maple Leaf Latte: My husband got this one and it is one of their top two lattes. It is a maple spice latte with roasted hazelnut. The maple spice was the main flavor, but it was not overwhelming. It was good, but I personally prefer the Oh No Cleo! more. Iced Oh No Cleo!: This is the other top latte and I liked this one the most. For the toffee nut, they let us choose what nut we wanted, so my mom asked for macadamia nut. It also has vanilla and hazelnut. The combination of everything worked really well together. Iced Caesar's Grail: I got this one and it is a butter pecan latte with banana and brown sugar. You can taste the banana but the drink was too sweet and the artificial butter pecan syrup aftertaste lingered with every sip. No one in my family liked this drink either. We added more ice and let it melt, which helped with the sweetness but not with the artificial aftertaste.

Fun coffee drinks....especially the elusive df pumpkin sauce in a latte=Witch's Breakfast. GF oat milk. They have some good beans aka Greater Goods. If your family is in the market for hot apple cider....they have it! There are some board games and a lot of seating. Making it conducive for a family outing. Thank you for the free drink Yelp/Merfolk’s and happy anniversary!

The vibes were immaculate, the coffee was SO good, and the staff was amazing! This is the friendliest group of baristas I have ever met. Every single one of them was genuinely happy to see me and I’ve never even met them. They all smiled and engaged with me and were so welcoming. Huge props to everyone who is running this business. 👏🏻👏🏻

My son and I were visiting Austin, and as I am ridiculously picky about my morning coffee drinks, we selected this crazy cool, hip, friendly, warm, hospitable, newly opened coffee shop - a small business, run by a super cool hip, friendly, warm, hospitable, owner, Justin Monroe, and his like-minded staff, who treated us as though we had been locals forever. We went every morning of our week-long visit. He offers unusual coffees, designed by his crew - these mixologists/alchemists are on a whole other level. If visiting Austin, please support this unusual small business. Justin is a multitalented, creative young businessman (also a talented musician - see photo below at Rustic Tap in downtown Austin, where we saw his perform 80s music). The Merfolks'philosophy is reminiscent of coffee shops of my younger days, when people hung out, talked, played board games etc... He has a loyal, local following. It's a great setting too. Perfect offsite to take the kids. It's also open later than many others. They all have events and activities. There's a generous shaded outdoor space. The decor was a modern and vintage mix. There's a huge wall mural featuring a local artist, as well as large accessible bathrooms. OK GO THERE. Our thanks to Justin Monroe, friends and staff: Jess, John, Rebecca, Taylor, Lee, Angela (apologies if I missed anyone). Y'all contributed to a memorable stay, and my mornings would have been a disaster if not for you). Hugs to all.

Google
Fun cryptid themed coffee shop with several tables and bar seats around a counter serving a menu of special mixed coffee drinks. Their events are as quirky and exciting as their room. They share a long free parking lot with adjacent businesses in their strip center.

Yelp
Merfolk's is a South Austin coffeehouse with a decent amount of parking and ample space inside to enjoy its brews, with a sprinkle of mermaid decor. My friend and I visited Merfolk's after being drawn to their specialty coffee menu. We both ordered signature lattes. I had the Cupid's Kiss, with salted caramel, honey, jasmine, and rose, and my friend ordered the Super Good Latte, a white mocha with maple spice and cinnamon milk. Although both drinks sound like they'd be super sweet, they were not, and had a perfect level of sweetness and flavor. My drink was tasty, and we were easily able to snag a table on a Sunday afternoon, which is all I really ever want from a coffee shop. Merfolk's carries a good variety of pastries from Sour Duck which we did not try this time around, but will next time. We saw other people playing board games stocked by Merfolk's, which I think is a nice touch. Overall, Merfolk's seems like a great place to work or meet up with friends. We will be back!

Yelp
Well, Austin, I didn't think you had it in you but you've changed. I didn't expect a swanky joint yet here I was, at Merfolk complete with a bar to sit on. I loved the barrista because on my v. short trip, I recall she is the only one with her manners in tact in all of Austin. When I said "hello, how are you," she replied proper with a warm and quick conversation. Just like what you'd expect at a decent cafe (that isn't going up its ass in attitude). I ordered a chai latte. The menu is overwhelming so if you're walking in after a long flight, take your time to figure it out before ordering. I found a peaceful corner to wait out an hour with my chai before the next appointment. I'd say a lovely place to stop over.

Yelp
Merfolk's is one of the cutest coffee shops I've ever seen! It's super cozy, and the menu options are great. They have Wi-Fi and plenty of seating/outlets, so this would be a great place to work for the day. Food/Drinks: I got the grandma's cookies latte, which was so good. It truly tasted like a fresh-baked cookie in latte form. I didn't try any of the pastries but they all looked great. Service: Both the baristas I spoke with were very sweet and informative. I couldn't decide what to get and they had a ton of great suggestions and knew the menu really well. Parking: There's a pretty big parking lot shared with a few other businesses. I went on a Wednesday morning and had no issues finding a spot.

Yelp
The vibes are lovely. I do wish the playlist that was going on was different. It has sea shanty vibes, but the music was very older pop? I'm not sure, it just didn't go. I forgive it because everything else was cozy and good, and the drinks were so tasty. Service is quick, but it wasn't very busy when I visted. They have a "Mythical Drinks" list that had fun labels and names like Elli's Yuletide Chai which was described as a Winter Spiced Chai Latte. I prefer tea during the evenings so I ordered the Enchanted Rose. This is a mix of green tea, rose and lemonade. Ten out of ten! That was a combination I have never seen before. It was incredibly refreshing. The person with me ordered Persephone's Secret. It was a dark hot chocolate with candied orange. I'm told it was a touch too sweet for the dark flavor and the orange did not come through enough for them. They still did enjoy it though.

Yelp
I came in on a cold rainy Friday and decided to get some crocheting done. It was a very warm and quiet place with a lot of seating both inside and out. I got their iced matcha latte and I think it is comparable to most matcha lattes. Service was super friendly and even brought my drink out to my table which might have been because I had a whole seat up with my crochet things but still something I don't see nowadays at coffee shops.

Yelp
This place was very good, and fast. All their decoration ideas were on point and they even have board games to play and an outside patio. They're coffee was very delicious and rich, the only sad thing was there was no cold foam but still highly recommend visiting

Yelp
Merfolk's was a great experience all around. The drinks were wonderful, the baristas were friendly, and the space is well decorated. They offer a good variety of coffee, tea, and pastries; we settled on a matcha latte, white mocha, and lemon pound cake. There is plenty of space (and outlets!) for study groups & settling in for a while, as well as a lovely pet-friendly outdoor patio space. Definitely will be a regular stop for us!

Yelp
The baristas working on the day i went were my favorite part of the visit. Super friendly and sweet. What a great mew spot and i know they will be filled up full very soon. The loose leaf teas were exquisite. The coffee was delicious and so many great pastry options. I cant wait to go back and look at the unique decor while i enjoy my cup of coffee.

Yelp
Coffee was yummy! The owner (i forgot his name) made our drinks very well. The place is cute and i recommend it

Yelp
I would give this 3.5 stars if I could. This is a cute place to hang out and the staff were very friendly and professional. They offer sour duck pastries which are very high quality. The noise level was just right, not loud but not so quiet you feel uncomfortable talking. My friend had a specialty latte and cold brew and liked them both. I opted for drip coffee and that was a let down for me. I understand costs are going up for everything but no refills on drip coffee was pretty disappointing. At least 1 refill doesn't seem unreasonable. They are half price at least but I didn't expect to pay almost $6 for a drip coffee and 1 refill. The brew was also very inconsistent between the 2 batches. One being fairly strong and the weak. Greater goods coffee is also just a medium range coffee so had it been brewed well with a better quality coffee I would have no issue with the price and even willing to pay more. It also would have been nice to get a mug and not a to go cup. If you live in the area and want a place to hang with decent coffee it fits the bill. I'll return if my friend suggests it but won't suggest it myself.

Yelp
New spot in a "coffee desert" on south congress. Great indoor and outdoor seating with knowledgeable owner/barista. My new go to spot in our neighborhood
