Good experience. Great tasting food using local ingredients with a Mediterranean feel. All combines to make lovely looking dishes ranging from sea to land. Makes for a good range of small dishes. Recommend 5 dishes each leaving room for dessert - which was worth it! Restaurant itself is relaxed with good décor. Staff friendly and attentive.

Situated in Stockbridge, Merienda is only a 10 minute walk away from the city centre. The restaurant is fairly small but is set up to allow more than enough space for social distancing. On top of this, the Merienda team have put a few extra precautions in place, all without impacting the dining experience! When we arrived at the restaurant we were encouraged to sanitize our hands, we had our temperature checked and we were asked to keep our face masks on whilst moving through the restaurant. Whether you're looking for a light meal or a full dining experience, the menu is served Mediterranean style with small plates based around 5 different sections; Merienda Staples, Fields and Gardens, Farms and Pastures, Rivers and Seas, and Sweetness. We decided to go for the full dining experience and ordered 6 plates each, plus a dessert to share. After grazing on so many delicious plates, it was difficult to choose a favourite, but if we had to pick 1, it would have to be the star of the show - the dessert - White chocolate & cranberry croissant butter pudding. Everything about the menu was incredibly fresh and it was interesting to know that all the ingredients are sourced locally throughout Scotland, served in their own style! The servers were extremely attentive and (personally for us) we enjoyed the pace in which all the dishes were served, as this allowed us to not rush our meal and appreciate the flavours the chef had put together for us.

I went to this lovely place with my boyfriend for dinner and we were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly by Emma( she was just wonderful) ,who guided us through the menù and wine. The food was spectacular, we had 4 courses each and certainly our best dining experience ever. Looking forward to back soon.

THIS IS A SMALL PLATES RESTAURANT. Wow, amazing. We had heard about this as one of the new “must try’s” in Edinburgh. An unusual, innovative menu, that teases and tantalises your tastebuds. As my partner put it- “I want to take the chef home and lock him in the kitchen” A MUST TRY

Amazing food the little restaurant and give some appreciation to the cooks because there is only two of them and still the dishes are done a couple of minutes

Exciting new place to wine and dine in Edinburgh. If you love high quality, locally sourced food and like experiencing great flavour combinations ...you should visit. Great wine list. Me and my friends had a great time, the owners are lovely and welcoming and care about customer service. Definitely going back :-)

Really wanted to love this place, but was a little disappointed. Ordered around 10 dishes in total but they took quite some time to arrive. I think it would have been better if the dishes were larger, you ordered fewer of them and they arrived together but maybe I am missing the point of the create your own tasting menu. Pork belly dish was the highlight, Duck breast and Chorizo dish my least favourite. Was a cool, relaxed vibe but room for improvement on the food and execution in my opinion.

I had one of the best meals I’ve ever had in Edinburgh at this restaurant last month. The menu is so inventive and the food incredibly delicious. The owners were really warm and friendly and the waiting staff really knowledgeable about all the dishes. Perfect for an intimate dinner with friends, loved-ons or a special occasion. Will certainly be recommending it to all our friends in Edinburgh and already planning a return visit for the next time I’m in town.

Yelp
THIS IS A SMALL PLATES MENU. I think it was summarised beautifully by my partner who joined me here for dinner. "I want to drag the chef home and lock him in the kitchen" Prepare to show up and have an amazing experience, your tastebuds will adore you. Textures, flavours and general yumminess. Who would think to combine asparagus and honey! A must try :)

Yelp
Merienda is an amazing little restaurant and highly recommended when visiting Edinburgh. Inside is modern and minimalist, which welcomes patrons to enjoy a fine dining experience without the pretentiousness of a traditional "white table cloth" establishment. The maitre d' greeted us warmly and our server was bright and bubbly, putting us at ease after our travels. With their guidance, we ordered about 15 different small plates aka tapas. Each dish came out beautifully and delicately prepared, featuring fresh, local seasonal produce and showcasing the Chef's masterful techniques -- both classic and modern, intertwined. High praises all the way from San Francisco for dishes that truly taste as good as they look. Would definitely travel all the way back to Scotland for dinner at Merienda!

Yelp
Absolutely lovely food and staff; well worth a visit! My family and I chanced on this restaurant on our first day in Edinburgh and we thoroughly enjoyed our leisurely dinner at Merienda. The owner was present at the time and he was very friendly, offering some welcome suggestions about the menu and of Edinburgh's sites and attractions. PSA - The small plates live up to their name, but all the more reason to order a variety of options on the menu. The quality of the food is excellent and the prices are quite reasonable for the dishes. If I'm ever in Edinburgh (which hopefully, I will be), I will definitely be returning to this restaurant!
