Texas Coffee Shop Selling ‘Fiesta Baby Yoda’ Medals for Charity | Eater Austin

"A San Antonio–based coffee shop produced collectible medals depicting Baby Yoda wearing a sombrero and drinking from the shop’s mug after the creative manager was inspired by internet memes. The $10 medals will be sold at the chain’s San Antonio locations (not its Austin shops) and online beginning in March, with proceeds directed to Snack Pak 4 Kids SA to support weekend food supplements for chronically hungry public-school children." - Erin Russell

Merit Coffee Is Opening on South Lamar, Stonehouse Coffee Is Closing | Eater Austin

"San Antonio–based Merit Coffee is taking over the Zilker space starting Monday, February 11; this will be the company’s second Austin location. Its menu will remain the same, featuring coffee, espresso, teas, and juices, and Merit South Lamar’s hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Bakery Lorraine will provide baked goods like pop tarts and Tacodeli will supply tacos for food service. The founders Robby and Neesha Grubbs, plus partner and CFO Bill Ellis, opened Merit’s first Austin location in January 2018 in the Seaholm District after originally opening as Local Coffee and changing the name in December 2017." - Nadia Chaudhury

This is my favorite Merit Coffee location in town! There is a lot of seating for studying or working, lots of natural light, and a very cool atmosphere inside. It is also open through to the Trek bike store which is neat! The service is lovely and as always the coffees are incredible. They have great seasonal flavors in addition to the standard menu.

Make sure you look in the lower left hand corner and get the recommend use you prefer. They will not allow Exchanges or Returns even though it was purchased yesterday’s yesterday I didn’t notice the small “Espresso” label and needed Drip.

The coffee specials are pretty creative! I really like their iced coffees, but the rest of the menu is okay. Not awful… just meh. And it’s a little on the pricier end, but it’s a more luxury coffee brand I think. It is cool how they have a variety of bagged coffee and merch. It is ALWAYS pretty packed though- if you were wanting to just stop by and get some work done it’s a big toss up on whether there will be any room. The tables are small, and a lot of them are wobbly. There’s space outside but come on… it’s Texas and it’s borderline unbearable to sit outside a solid 9 months out of the year. Bathrooms are really clean and nice though!

Went to get a matcha and they did not disappoint!! My sisters and I got the normal, strawberry, and the cherry blossom matcha and they were all amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Ordered a latte with extra foam today and they told us “we don’t do that here” and gave us the flattest latte ever. Reordered a cappuccino cuz we just wanted that foamy goodness - just to be dissatisfied with another flat drink. Sorry but as an ex-barista, i think any coffeeshop worth going to should be able to accommodate minor drink requests like that, especially when they charge those high prices.

Somehow I had never visited this Merit location before. There is parking in front of and behind the building. This Merit location is large with indoor and outdoor seating. Early on a Saturday they were not busy. My oat milk latte was delicious. I'm a huge fan of Merit espresso. I normally only drink Andino Leal at home.

Wish I had a better experience. Please, no more staff at the front who clearly don’t want to be there. I asked the cashier a simple question about which of two items they’d recommend, since I hadn’t tried either and couldn’t decide. They looked at me like I was speaking another language. I get that not everyone tries the full menu, but if you can’t confidently say what people do tend to enjoy, what are we even doing? It wasn’t a busy Sunday afternoon, and the overall vibe from the staff was that they’d rather be anywhere else. First time, sadly I probably wouldn’t come again.
