"Merit Vegan Restaurant aims to bring Asian comfort food to those living a plant-based lifestyle. Inspired by the cuisines of India, China, and Thailand, the restaurant serves hearty bowls of noodle soups, curries, fried rice, and an array of entrees. Some of the most commonly ordered dishes include the House Special Rice Claypot, pho, jalapeno BBQ seitan, and the Spicy Tango — fried seitan chunks sauteed in spicy garlic, onion, and peppers. The popular spicy noodle soup is a plant-based rendition of Vietnamese beef noodle soup. Many of the dishes can also be made gluten- or nut-free." - Cathy Park, Paolo Bicchieri

Merit Vegan Restaurant is a hidden gem for anyone looking to enjoy delicious plant-based food. The menu is packed with flavorful, satisfying options that even non-vegans would love. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and the portions were generous. One standout item was the avocado shake—absolutely awesome! Creamy, perfectly sweet, and refreshing. It’s a must-try and really elevated the whole meal. Service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was calm, clean, and welcoming. The staff made sure we were comfortable without being intrusive, which added to the relaxed dining experience. Prices are reasonable given the quality, and the variety of dishes makes it easy to find something for every palate. Whether you’re a longtime vegan or just curious, Merit Vegan delivers a delicious and satisfying experience. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu when I'm back in this area.

Been here a couple times already and yeah if you’re vegetarian or vegan, this place is the one. Like, stop scrolling, this is it. Tons of variety. Like, the kind of menu where you stare at it for 10 minutes thinking, am I hungry or just emotionally unprepared to make a decision? Had the spicy noodle soup before fantastic. Fresh spring rolls? Honestly hard to beat. But this time I went for the house special rice clay pot and it blew me away. Full of flavor, perfectly balanced, and straight-up comfort food for the soul. Also tried the BBQ gluten vermicelli refreshing and super flavorful. Doesn’t even feel like “vegetarian food,” it just tastes good. Showed up on a Saturday around 2pm thinking I could sneak in between the lunch rush…absolutely wrong. The place was packed. But for good reason. This is definitely one of those spots you keep coming back to just to explore the menu. Every dish feels like a new main character.

Waitress was nice while taking our order, but they never once came back to check on us. Food wasn’t that good. I’ve been coming here for the past 5-6 years with my family and the quality of food has always been OKAY at most. The only reason I go here is because my family members are vegetarian. It seems like a decent restaurant as it has been filled up almost every time I go here. Personally I am not a fan and wouldn’t go back on my own will. Today we came in right when it opened for dinner at 4:30pm. Friendly staff, okayish food, and vegetarian cuisine.

I was thrilled to find a vegan restaurant around the southern Bay Area, and this one was at a convenient location. After visiting here, I would definitely recommend it as an economical option for anyone that wants to enjoy decent southeast Asian vegan food! Almost every dish was below $15 which made it really affordable, on top of what I had being extremely tasty! The establishment's slogan about promoting vegan dining is very clear, and as much as I am not vegan myself, I love it when veganism is available as an option. As a result, I ordered the eggplant tofu clay pot, which was amazingly delicious. While I was not sure what house special sauce they had used, it definitely tasted a bit like there was garlic sauce included, which made the eggplant tasty. One can pour some of the sauce on top of the given rice, which I ended up picking brown rice, and it would make the whole thing super tasty. Either way, I very much enjoyed it. In terms of the spring rolls, they tasted as good as I imagined it to be, because the peanut sauce carried the main flavor when dipping the rolls in it. Mint leaves, tofu, vegetables altogether allowed a mixture of different flavors that made it a pleasant culinary experience. The tom kha tasted more sour than sweet, most likely because it didn't have enough coconut milk, which wasn't a bad thing and would be dependent on different people's tastes. Overall I think this establishment is one that anyone can easily trust to create good, quick, and cheap food. While I don't live around the area, I would recommend it to anyone who does.

Google
Good 👍 - The restaurant is spacious and comfortable. - Dishes are served quickly. - The chowmain, chowfen, and fried rice are cooked over high heat, giving them a great aroma and perfectly balanced flavors. Other notes: - There are only a few staff members, and the restaurant gets very crowded, so customers may need to wait patiently. - The lotus root salad mostly consists of cabbage, is a bit sour, but still quite tasty. => A vegetarian restaurant with a diverse menu and well-seasoned dishes. The comfortable seating makes it a great spot for gathering with friends or family.

Google
Super fast service and nice, clean ambience with plenty of seating and booths. We ordered the ocean pineapple mushroom cakes, the crispy noodle chow mein, the fake chicken drumsticks, and the Vietnamese crepe pancakes. Ocean pineapple mushroom cakes and the crispy noodle chow mien I would order again. The fake chicken drumstick was only good with the sweet chili sauce and the crepe/pancake had too many bean sprouts and onions and not much else inside…it was very large but also very thin.

Google
We enjoyed the dishes family-style, and every dish was really good. If we lived nearby, this place would definitely be added to our regular rotation. The faux meats were very well done, and they had a great variety on the menu. The portions were also the perfect amount, not too much. The value was also decent.

Yelp
Between 4-5 for sure !!! Really good food, good portions and reasonable prices and usually no wait! Some food is better than others Love: Curry vermicelli noodle soup Curry fried rice (best of the fried rices imo) House clay pot fried rice Firecracker special Like: Spring rolls Jalapeño fried tofu young coconut drink Dislike orange nuggets (or anything with the orange sauce) - I think it's too sweet and the sauce is too rich Great place for vegan food and very cozy, would def recommend to others.

Yelp
Such a great vegan restaurant with a whole variety of delicious options! I visited on a Friday night, and it was absolutely packed. However, the service was friendly, fast, and efficient. The ambiance was upbeat and lively. Every time a table had a birthday, all the waiters would sing happy birthday to them and bring out a dessert - it was so fun! I cannot recommend the spring rolls enough. Every bite had so much flavor, and the accompanying peanut sauce was also super tasty! This was my absolute favorite dish. I also tried the spicy noodle soup after reading several Yelp reviews. To my surprise, the broth was not spicy at all. It was still packed with flavor but just did not have any spice. The tofu was soft, and the noodles were nice and chewy. However, I would not order this again because the broth just did not have any spice. The curry noodle soup was rich, creamy, and delicious. I really liked the thin noodles paired with the well-cooked vegetables. I definitely intend to visit again and try more dishes! The pad thai sounded super good - the dish features "shrimp" made out of yam!

Yelp
I was excited to hear about a vegan Vietnamese spot in the Bay Area and decided to check it out. Having recently visited Vietnam and loved the food there, my expectations were pretty high--but this place didn't disappoint! The pho and spicy noodle soup were perfect for the cold weather, and the portions were huge. We also really enjoyed the potstickers and spring rolls as starters. The staff was super friendly and brought great energy, especially when celebrating people's birthdays. The service was quick too, which is always a plus. The ambiance gave me major Vietnam vibes and brought back some great memories of my trip. I'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
We met up with some friends at Merit Vegan Restaurant for lunch on a Sunday. This was my first time here. My wife and two other friends had been here several times. The parking can get challenging in this strip mall but mostly weekdays during lunch. The restaurant is very spacious and can accommodate large parties of 6-10, but geared towards groups of 4. They have two separate restrooms with multiple stalls. House Special Rice Clay Pot: Seasoned tofu, mushroom, bean threads, onion and ginger cooked with fragrant rice (4/5). This was flavorful and had a good sauce. Gourmet Deluxe: Most popular. Fried gluten-free protein cooked with spicy lemongrass and served with steamed broccoli, cucumber and tomato (4/5). Yep, I can see why this is their most popular dish. Fragrant, savory...again, deep-fried what's not to like!?! Top it off with lemongrass which i love. Yum! Mama's Clay Pot: Eggplant and 'ocean' cakes cooked in house special sauce (3.5/5). Organic brown steamed rice (1). We needed something to help sop up the sauce in Mama's Clay Pot. The portions weren't huge but enough and at their price point, it was good. Everything was very tasty. I will be back! The service was good at first. But, once all the food was served and we wanted to get the check. It was your typical "ignore" you. I don't see your hand up as I walk by. It wasn't just our server but several of them. I understand that they were busy but...

Yelp
Ordered a pick up for 37. Thai fried rice twice in the past one month. The first time it tasted amazing, great quantity and freshly made, so glad. The second time, the quantity was less and it was extremely spicy for consumption, couldn't eat it. The quantity was less than the first time, not sure what went wrong but will give them another chance!

Yelp
Merit Vegan is one of my go to's in Santa Clara since I've decided to move towards vegetarian diet . The food here is tasty and has a great variety of different choices (mainly Vietnamese/Chinese dishes) for a quick fix if you don't have time to cook at home. The service is quick and came easy. The ambiance is clean and warm. They have assorted vegan jerky available (7.50$) which I have found to be inexpensive compared to other places. 5 stars for Merit Vegan!

Sirena L.

Yelp
I'm glad I finally got to try Merit! Ate in with a friend. It's a pretty sizeable, bright restaurant, and the menu is likewise extensive, which made it difficult for me to pick what to order! There's also some interesting literature to read on the walls of you're so inclined. We split the steam bun as an appetizer. This bun is huge! It was full of veggies and a nice way to start the meal. We each ordered noodle soup dishes: the curry vermicelli and the Viet udon. Both were delicious! I only tried a bite of the curry vermicelli and would order it in the future. The curry imparted a nice flavor, and the ingredients were good. The thin noodles can be a bit challenging to pick up with the metal chopsticks though! The Viet udon was also delicious with a light savory broth, and they did not skimp on the vegan shrimp and tofu. Service was quick and no-frills. I definitely look forward to my next visit here to try more of their menu!

Yelp
I have dined here twice now, with different sets of girlfriends. The prices are reasonable and the flavors are Vietnamese/Asian robust. They do have a strict rule of no outside desserts/food allowed. So beware when celebrating with friends. Here are what we ordered: House Special Rice Clay Pot- it's got rice and clear noodle, tofu, mushroom. Every thing I like. Mama Clay Pot - eggplant and ocean cake was good but soup was too glue texture. Fresh Spring Roll and Golden Rolls. Both were just OK. Lotus Salad - cabbage, carrots, lotus. I thought it was just OK. Gourmet Fried Rice - was surprisingly good.

Memi O.

Yelp
Pretty good for a vegan place, it actually made me consider eating a more vegetarian or vegan diet, which no other restaurant has done... The fake chicken drumstick was only good with the sweet chili sauce and the crepe/pancake had too many bean sprouts and onions and not much else inside...it was very large but also very thin.

Yelp
Great vegetarian restaurant with a huge array of tasty options. Pictured here are the curry vermicelli soup and the spicy tango. I have also eaten lemongrass tofu, wonton noodle soup, and spring rolls on a past visit. The service is friendly and efficient, and the place is inviting. I also like a display showing some famous vegetarians throughout history, which includes quotes by them pertaining to vegetarianism.

Yelp
aesthetics: 3/5 food: 4/5 service: 4/5 merit is one of my favourite bay area spots for comfort asian cuisine!! the house special claypot, golden era nuggets, and oreo cheesecake are always my go-to orders, and the pho and spicy noodle soups are pure soothingness in a bowl. i would especially like to highlight the golden era nuggets -- not exactly chicken but my non-vegan friends rave about this dish's addictive flavour :) the service is extremely efficient and it's generally easy to get a table on weekends too, which is a plus. definitely give merit a try!!

Yelp
Best vegan Asian fusion restaurant in Santa Clara county, and I mean that. Even eating there is great, good food with great vibes hits the spot every time. When I'm not eating there, every time I'm going in to do a pick up, it's always packed. But hey maybe that's just my experience. Please try for yourself. I recommend the tom kha Thai soup, for their substitute for "shrimp"

Yelp
This place is one of my family's favorites!! The service is always so friendly and the food hits everytime. I'm neither vegan or vegetarian but I crave this spot. Everything is good but my favorites are the spicy tango, green beans, and Tom Kha. The prices are reasonable as well. Definitely a must if you're looking for a meatless option; it's the best veggie spot around!

Maria M.

Yelp
My favorite Pho in all bay area! The food is great, the owners are vegan and definitely know about good food, love the desserts too!

Kate L.

Yelp
Merit does not fail to impress! This was out second visit and we enjoyed it as much as our first. Service was great and the food arrived piping hot. We will be back!

Truc M.

Yelp
If you love vegan foods or just sometimes bored of meats :) come here to try something healthy but tasty! The service is always awesome (talk to Bill, he is friendly and helpful) The place is clean and the music is always nice (soft and old 70-80s songs)

Erena S.

Yelp
We ordered for take out on Christmas Eve. This is my 2nd time eating their food and I would absolutely come back again. Delicious! Can't wait to eat dessert soon!

Tom S.

Yelp
I only found out about this place this year, and I can't help but wonder where was I this entire time!? This is a terrific vegan restaurant, with so many tasty options! If you have friends and/or family members who are insistent on being non-veg, this is one of those restaurants they won't mind trying out every now and then! It's not just tofu, they have seitan and other kinds of alternative vegan meat. 1. Orange Nuggets are the best here. Probably not too healthy, but deeply delicious. 2. The vegan canh chua (Vietnamese hot and sour soup) was also surprisingly tasty. It wasn't nearly as sour as non-veg canh chua, but it definitely tasted legit. 3. The Tom Kha soup was also sooooooo good. Would actually prefer this over non-veg Tom Kha, as the portion was much bigger and more affordable! 4. The Pad Thai was awesome, had vegan shrimp and they did a wonderful job. 5. The corn dog sucked, don't get the corn dog. I don't even know I got the corn dog. I feel like they only keep this on the menu for the pickiest of eaters, but even then IMO it sucks too much to keep it on the menu sooo yeah avoid it.

Prath C.

Yelp
We came here on Saturday evening for dinner. The place was busy and very lively. Despite this, there was little wait and we were seated relatively quickly. The service was also great and timely! Food also came out relatively fast! We ordered: - Fresh Spring rolls - Pretty good and it was a good combination with the sauce. - Jalapeño Pop - It was a bit heavy to eat and not very flavorful alone but tasted pretty good with the spicy tartar sauce. - Vegetable Chow Fun - Not very flavorful and it was a bit on the blander side. - Szechuan Pineapple - it was vey flavorful and delicious and the sauce was delicious! The seitan was also chewy and delicious. One thing to note is that the restaurant closes at 8pm. Overall, had a pretty good experience at this restaurant and will be back in the future to try other items on the menu!

Lisa N.

Yelp
Pretty solid vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the area. My friend and I were curious to check out this highly raved spot. We visited on a Friday at 6pm ish. I was able to get seated right away and moments later, it started to get more busier. Service was fast and attentive. There was an employee that didn't look the friendliest. She simply dropped off the food without making any eye contact nor said anything and just walked away. Besides that, at least the food was good. I like how they offer a variety of dishes. I still can't believe it's vegan or vegetarian only! We ordered the jalapeño pop (spicy) which had jalapeños filled with onion and garlic flavored cream cheese, served with spicy tartar sauce (according to the menu). I was confused because the sauce looked nothing like a tartar sauce? More like a fake cheese sauce? It looked like jalapeño poppers but was not spicy and not really "cheesy." I'd give it a 7.5/10. The star of the show was definitely the Tom Kha Thai Soup. It smelled sooo good. It was so flavorful. Great portion. Too bad the rice and noodles were extra $$. It's fine I ordered a side of noodles to eat it with. The "shrimp" was made out of yam. Surprisingly it was pretty good! The soup also had pineapple, tomato, tofu, bean curds, mushroom, basil, coconut milk in Thai tamarind & herbs base broth. 10/10 would order again. I am going to take my mom here next time.

M C.

Yelp
Took my non-vegan family for lunch and they loved it! We had a fantastic meal including desserts

Yelp
My friends and I wanted to start the new year off to a healthy start and decided to try this place out. We arrived on a Tuesday for dinner around 6 and it was moderately busy. We sat right away and there were 7 of us. As soon as we sat down we were provided menus and water and the table was already set with utensils and plates. We looked over the menu and ordered our items right away since we were hungry. What we ordered: Appetizers Fresh Spring Rolls- Fresh rice paper rolls w/ lettuce, mint leaves, seasoned tofu and seitan. Served w/ peanut sauce. Corn dogs- served with ketchup Mains Pad Thai- Rice noodles, 'Shrimb' (made from Yam), celery, carrots, bean sprouts, bean curds and onion stir-fried in Pad Thai sauce; garnished w/ crushed peanuts and cilantro Gourmet Fried Rice- Fried Jasmine rice, organic tofu, seitan, onion and mixed vegetables Sweet & Sour Savory- Pineapple, onion, bell peppers, batter-fried nuggets tossed in house-made pineapple, beet and tomato sauce. Mongolian Delight- Onion, bell peppers, seitan in spicy Mongolian sauce Pineapple Sensation- 'Ocean' cakes, mushroom in spicy pineapple sauce. Served w/ fresh spinach and steamed broccoli All in all we all enjoyed our meals. We also are no vegan but wanted to try something new. The stand outs to us were the Pineapple Sensations, sweet and sour savory and the fries rice. I wasn't a big fan of the corn dog but the breading was nice. The service was also great, the staff was very nice. This restaurant is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking. I recommend their restaurant!

Kumar V.

Yelp
In my humble opinion, this is the best Vegan restaurant I know in the Bay area. Most of the food I have tried here has impressed me. Service and the waitress were super sweet. One of my friends ordered something called "Ocean of Love". Well it was something new and we had no idea how to eat it. One of the waitresses explained to him that and also advised not the order this for a single person. I personally tried chowmein and I loved it. Also tried fried rice and it was good too. For appetizers both Jalapeno pop and spring roll were delicious.

Sandy A.

Yelp
Hands down best vegetarian restaurant in Sunnyvale. Best service ever and omg how do the servers remember the orders without writing them down. Too faces: Wonton noodle soup Spicy noodle soup Curry noodle soup Oh, are you getting the theme. Basically any noodle soup here is delicious. They also have so many varieties of Vietnamese dishes all with veggie meats. I love the fried rice with pine nuts. Honestly haven't had anything bad here ever. Also try their vegan desserts!

Daisy S.

Yelp
This my go-to vegan restaurant in the South Bay! The food is 100% vegan and I can honestly say I've enjoyed almost everything I've ordered. This is a great place to bring your family or a group of friends because they have an extensive menu that offers something for just about anyone! There is plenty of parking right outside. No outdoor seating. The workers are always super attentive and very polite :). You are greeted upon entering and are offered a table. The restaurant is pretty spacious so I've never really had to wait for a table. My favorites are: -Appetizers: steamed bun and the pot stickers -Entrees: spicy noodle soup, golden rolls vermicelli, and the house special rice clay pot -Dessert: chocolate hazelnut cake, cheesecake, and the peanut butter pie This week my bf and I shared the gourmet vegetable noodles and the spicy noodle soup. Per usual, both were delicious!! For dessert we shared the peanut butter pie. If you are a PB lover this pie is for you. It tastes like real PB, not too sweet and very rich. 10/10 recommend!

Truth A.

Yelp
We've always loved this place for its consistent flavors and great value. Lately, though, something seems to have changed -- the portions have gotten smaller, and the taste isn't as consistent as before. That said, I'm still a fan of their Mongoribeef dish (vegan) -- it's still delicious!

Julie B.

Yelp
Incredible vegan food - best in Bay Area! Got the house special Rice clay pot- gluten free - it was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten in my life! I'm still thinking about that clay pot dish the next day/ it's a must! My partner got Pad See Ew, and we split the Vietnamese crepe (yes so much food- took home some too) layers of flavors- perfect sauces and cooked to perfection. Amazing Jasmine tea- can't wait to go back!

Ell B.

Yelp
So delicious. We're vegan and new to the area. So happy to live so close to such a tasty, reasonably-priced place with such prompt and friendly service. This will definitely be our regular go-to.

Shreya S.

Yelp
One of my go-to places! Have been going to Merit since 2016 and this place never disappoints. I am always greeted with a warm smile by the server, despite being crowded :) Being an ardent meat lover, I am pleasantly surprised by this place being in my top places to eat in the bay area, but that's just how good it is! The food is excellent, very flavorful and fresh. The portion size is big too. Even their vegan cake (and i am not a fan of vegan cakes at all) is yum! Out of all the things I have tried, my top dishes to try here are: 1. Spicy Noodle Soup (I love this one!!) 2. Curry Vermicelli Soup 3. Thai Fried Rice 4. Fresh Spring Rolls

Lynn R.

Yelp
It's really tough to find places that can make a good vegetarian pho broth but Merit Vegan has made the list. We added bean curd which was a yummy addition. It's a bit smaller than your typical bowl of pho but filling and delicious. It definitely has a healthier feel to it. I wouldn't mind a bit more salt/savoriness but otherwise really enjoyed the pho. Service is welcoming and attentive. Merit is a cozy, casual, family-friendly restaurant right off Lawrence Expwy worth a try.

Jacinda C.

Yelp
After my last experience here, I was excited to return again with my family. The same very friendly hostess greeted us with a big smile, and we were quickly seated on a Monday afternoon. Parking is very easy outside. We ordered the 31. House Special Rice Clay Pot Plate, SP12. Eggplant Tofu Clay Pot, 17. Spicy Noodle Soup, and 23. Curry Vermicelli Soup, and all were delicious! I'd say that the clay pots are a bit on the smaller end of what my parents were expecting, but the flavors of the house special clay pot and curry vermicelli were amazing! Inside, there are posters of famous vegetarians on the walls which I thought was very cool. It's always a good experience here, and I'll definitely be back to try other dishes.

Karen J.

Yelp
I went to Merit Vegan with some coworkers on a weekday. The overall restaurant was nice and the food came out very quickly, but the wait staff was a little slow in getting our check or additional utensils. The shining star of the meal was by far the Tom kha soup. The "shrimp" in the soup were actually yams but as a non-vegetarian, I didn't feel like that took too much away from the flavor. The Thai fried rice (they used red pepper flakes for spice) and spring rolls were just ok. The pad Thai was very average. If you know that you want Thai food, there are plenty of other options in the area that have stronger Thai options (and can make it vegetarian) Overall, this was a pretty decent Pan Asian vegan restaurant. Would recommend going if your party has vegans and can't decide on what Asian cuisine to get. Disclaimer: I'm not vegan or vegetarian

Mike L.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant with my family on Monday. I ordered fried rice, pho, lotus salad, and house clay pot. All of the dishes were delicious, and it's my favorite restaurant.

Prachi P.

Yelp
We love the spicy royal noodle soup, my daughter is a big fan of orange chicken and my husband loves the spicy deluxe and lemongrass deluxe. It's not a fine dining restaurant, the tables are ok, it does get crowded and noisy (duh, because it's popular). I just crave the food from this place every week

Sam C.

Yelp
I love their golden rolls, the hot rice clay pot, and their fish(tofu) and chips. The food here is so delicious. I've shared the golden rolls with my meat-eating co-workers and they really loved them! They liked it so much they had me ordering food for them the next time I went.

Jack R.

Yelp
This doesnt "merit" a return visit. My expectations for vegetarian food are low, and still this place dissapointes because I felt this place was salty, small portions, and the service was horrible. Let's talk about their horrible wonton. Cold, weird tofu bits mixed with hardly any seasoning flash fried and not hot or crispy with boring plum sauce. I love fried foods, but just one bite and I was like "nah." 1 star. The pad thai had fake gummy shrimp. I really feel fried tofu or something like a really good fake meat would work well over the fake gummy shrimp that tastes like rubber combined with bathroom sealant. Not appetizing and even less so when the pad thai lacks all the spices and flavor. Seriously tasted like plain noodles with maybe some soy sauce. 2 stars. The eggplant tofu was very salty and just tasted like msg or some weird seasoning. I had 2 bites and was like "nah." 2 stars. I've been to monk temples in Asia and also vegetarian restaurants here and abroad and usually vegetarian food has some flavor and can be quite good. I felt this was such a dissapointment. The fake non dairy Thai Iced tea was a 5 star winner though and just the saving grace of why I got to have some calories today.

Yelp
My favorite Vietnamese vegan restaurant in the Bay Area for years !! Everything is so good . You can't go wrong .

Nick M.

Yelp
Excellent option for vegans. Got snacks for office gatherings and twice very popular choice. In both cases we were left wanting for more Recommend it any day! Only thing missing is if they can deliver catering orders

Ling S.

Yelp
My first time yesterday. Not too bad. Fits my Chinese tastes. It was quick. The inside is nice. I will be back

Sree S.

Yelp
This place is close to my office and has the best vegan food. No matter how crowded this place is the food always comes out quickly. Friendly service Love their app - steamed bun!

Jessica J.

Yelp
I love merit! I have been going here for over 10 years. Friendly atmosphere and delicious plant based foods :)

RJ S.

Yelp
We went there today for lunch and I should say that I have not experienced a ruder behavior by a restaurant owner ever before in my life! First off, looks like the they have reduced the portion sizes of their dishes, but have retained the original price. We ordered the "Sesame Eggplant" dish, as it used to be one of our favorites. Turns out that when they delivered to our table, it had no sesame on it and the taste was just plain sour.upon enquiring, we were told that they had removed sesame from the menu as it was an allergen. The manager came to our table with a rudest attitude and took the dish back. They should have taken the dish off the menu or explained to us while ordering. When we ordered an alternate dish, we were appalled at the portion size.

Yelp
Came here for a late Saturday lunch. The place is quite big and has ample parking. The service was quick. The food was amazing! We got the fried wontons which were great, spicy noodle soup and gourmet deluxe. The spicy noodle soup was good but too lemongrass-y for us to enjoy such a large bowl. We enjoyed it in the beginning but it got too much after a while. They served the veggies on the side and we could add them to our own bowls based on our preferences. The gourmet deluxe was delicious! The texture was perfect and the flavor was very much like the lemongrass tofu which we had loved in Vietnam! We also got iced Vietnamese coffee which was great and fresh squeezed orange juice which was actually quite fresh. I loved how they got plates and bowls without us asking to share the dishes family style. Overall, we loved our meal here. We're looking forward to coming back and trying other dishes from their vast menu!

Yelp
When it comes to vegetarian restaurants, Merit Vegan is my go-to favorite. Conveniently located in Sunnyvale, finding parking is a breeze. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, offering a wide range of options on their menu, including noodles, soups, rice dishes, and more. Their cooking is exceptional, and I've had the pleasure of trying several dishes such as Spicy Noodle Soup, papaya salad, Vietnamese sweet and sour soup, and Tom Kha soup, among others. I have never been disappointed as the food is always served piping hot, with enticing aromas and a fresh taste. The vegetables and tofu are perfectly seasoned and blend harmoniously. One dish that stands out is their Thai fried rice, which is so flavorful that I almost couldn't believe it was a vegetarian version. It captures all the essence of the original meat-based dish. For to-go orders, they go the extra mile by separating the soup and toppings, ensuring that the vegetables remain fresh and crunchy when reheated at home according to your preference. It's a thoughtful touch. The service at Merit Vegan is truly outstanding, exceeding expectations with a rating of 100/10. The hosts and staff members are incredibly friendly and helpful, always wearing a smile and treating customers with respect. Each visit leaves me with a warm and relaxed feeling. If you're looking for a vegetarian option, I highly recommend giving Merit Vegan a try. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I am not a vegan or vegetarian and I love the food at Merit. My favorites: + Lotus Salad + BBQ seitan rice bowl It can get busy during lunch but I've never had to wait too long.

Yelp
I went here with my friend after a fun hike at Baylands! We ordered the wonton pop appetizer, orange nuggets with sweet & sour sauce, and Vietnamese crepe. The Vietnamese crepe also came with lots of vegetables on the side and inside - tofu, bean spouts, mushroom, and onion. The Thai tea was also great - it's made with soy milk The portions are large and filling! All the dishes we got were great and I'd love to come back to try more. Service was friendly and the ambiance is good for lunch or dinner. Yelp
amazing vegan restaurant! My friends told me about this place and im so glad I gave this place a try. The interior of the place feels like home. Everything I got was reasonably priced and yummy. I also did not feel bloated at all afterwards which was nice. Workers here were super sweet and they made sure I had a good experience here. Overall, 100% would come back again to try more menu items

Yelp
As a self-proclaimed meat lover, I was a bit skeptical of how good this place would actually be. But (spoiler alert!) I was very pleasantly surprised! The flavor of each dish was unique and flavorful and the service was great. Our waiter was so attentive from start to finish. I'd recommend finishing your meal in the restaurant if you can because it wasn't very good leftover. But otherwise, I really enjoyed it!
