"Menu items at the popular Mesa Franca may appear simple, but they’re loaded with flavor, color, and Colombian ingredients. Sample the watermelon ceviche with crunchy kale or the succulent pork belly accompanied by peanut chile sauce, caramelized pears, and arugula. Don’t miss the cocktails, and look out for evenings featuring DJs, which make for the perfect Bogotano night out." - Liliana López Sorzano

What Is Colombian New Wave Cuisine? | Eater

"Upon entering, the air is filled with toasted corn, tropical fruits, fresh herbs and grilled meat while a modern, homey dining room of bare-wood tables, hanging plants and pops of red blends contemporary design with the warmth of a mamá’s kitchen. A giant local melon at the bar gets worked into daily dishes and drinks; the menu showcases bright, ingredient-forward plates such as raw tuna with goat’s-milk yogurt and creamy avocado, grilled hearts of palm with feijoa zest, and a sea bass ceviche with trumpet mushrooms and grapefruit in tree-tomato and green-mango leche de tigre scented with elderflowers. Helmed by chef Iván Cadena, the restaurant exemplifies Bogotá’s movement to balance tradition and innovation while prioritizing local products." - Juliana Duque

Yuca bread was crunchy yet super soft inside as well as very flavorful. The steak with the lentils sauce was scrumptious. The fish wasn't our favorite, and for the price of about £26 we were expecting something more. The service was really good and prompt. Our waiter was very kind.

Dangerously tasty, the menu is constantly changing because of its fire ingredients. Great young talent with attention to detail

Had a lovely lunch here! Ask the staff what’s good because they always know. The highlight for me was the yucca focaccia with tucupí butter and honey. Pork belly with the tamarind jus was so deeply savory and didn’t eat too heavy/fatty. So good!

Had a wonderful dinner at Mesa Franca this weekend. Everything we tried was delicious, especially the beet spread, the lasagnette, and the slow cooked pork belly. Our server Freddy was wonderful!

Amazing establishment. One of the best I have ever been, especially if you love tuna.

Disappointing Experience – Wouldn’t Return Visited Mesa Franco on a Tuesday evening and unfortunately, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience from start to finish. First off, we didn’t have a reservation and were seated in a rather unwelcoming area of the restaurant – not a great first impression. The chairs were incredibly uncomfortable, which only added to the overall lack of warmth in the atmosphere. It was quite chilly inside, so I can only imagine how cold it must be out on the terrace. The menu was another letdown – the English version had higher prices than the Spanish one, which felt unnecessarily exploitative. When we pointed this out the waitress still Insisted on charging us the higher prices. On top of that, they didn’t have the cut of steak listed on the menu and offered a lesser substitute without much of an apology. Food took nearly an hour to arrive, and when it did, the steak and sauce for the steak was cold. To make matters worse, the cocktail I ordered came long after I’d finished eating and was about 95% ice (see photo). Between the poor service, uncomfortable seating, and subpar food and drink, I can confidently say we won’t be going back.

The most amazing fine cuisine experience I've had in a very very long time. Each item meticulously crafted and provided an escape from the ordinary into a place of indulgence. Seriously. This establishment deserves a standing ovation at the end of the meal. Thank you.

We were really excited to try this restaurant during our visit to Bogotá, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. We were a group of six and were told the dishes were meant to be shared. We asked our server for guidance on how much to order, but the portions she recommended weren’t nearly enough. We ended up having to place a second order and waited a long time for the additional food to arrive. The food itself wasn’t bad, but when a restaurant charges high prices, there should be a better balance between quality food and quality service. On top of that, the service fee wasn’t optional, which was disappointing given the experience. Overall, we left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed and definitely won't return.
