Mesa Mezcal Opens In Irving | Eater Dallas

"Newly opened inside the Westin at the Irving Convention Center, this all-day Mexican restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily (with weekend brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.). The kitchen is led by Germain Haro, formerly executive chef at Baltimore’s Renaissance Harborplace, and the menu features regional and inventive dishes such as Veracruz-style whole fish, avocado-topped huaraches (grilled masa cakes) and an Oaxacan burger made with a chorizo patty topped with pineapple and pepper jack cheese. The beverage program emphasizes agave spirits, offering more than 50 tequilas and mezcals alongside cocktails." - Amy McCarthy

This is my go to happy hour spot in the Toyota music factory area. They have a great happy hour menu with food and drinks. The bartenders are always really nice - Alan is our go to! Their margaritas are good, wings, and steak quesadilla was phenomenal. On Mondays, they hosted mah-jongg Mondays that have guided lessons or open.

Mesa Mezcal is attached to a hotel, so I wasn’t expecting five-star dining service—but they still managed to fall short. We had a Thursday night reservation, and the restaurant wasn’t overly busy. It took over 10 minutes for our server to take our drink order, and another 20+ minutes for the drinks to arrive. To their credit, the drinks were great, and our server Edgar was very kind and apologetic, explaining the bar was backed up with a large group. The food, however, was another letdown. My salmon was overcooked, and the lava cake dessert was also dry and overcooked. For the price point, I expected better execution. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, and the service was friendly, but the slow pace and poorly prepared food made the experience underwhelming. Mesa Mezcal has potential, but it needs work to live up to its price and setting.

Incredible service! My husband and I came for our anniversary, and I have never been received so well at a restaurant! When I arrived and said the name on my reservation, she immediately knew who I was and what we were there to celebrate, they even had a bottle of champagne on ice for us! Our waiter was great, the hostess was great, the experience was just GREAT! I feel like I haven’t had service like this since before Covid and it is such a relief. Thank you for making our night special instead of just a regular dinner like any other night! PS I had the chili and it was super yummy with large chunks of steak in it 🤤

Been meaning to try this place for awhile. It's kind of tucked away from everything else, so it can be easy to overlook. They have a happy hour, where I got the house margarita for $6. There cocktail menu looks like they have some interesting choices, so I need to come back and try some of them. The outside patio area is really nice. I love all of the couches

I would give this place a zero star if I could. This place is very racist as well as classist too. I called to book reservations , they said they take walk ins. But when I went there, they said they don’t and told me there is a waiting time of 20 minutes. I waited in the lobby, then went back. This time the lady that was working at the counter told me I have canceled my reservation when I didn’t. Then they agreed to sat me and my girl, at a high table when we wanted to be sat in a regular one. And there were 6 of them available. I don’t want to talk much but the way the serving lady , manager and the waiter treated us, I kind of got the vibe they are racists. Please avoid this place while y’all can!

From the moment you step into Mesa Mezcal, located in the luxurious Westin hotel in Las Colinas, Texas, you are transported into a world of authentic Mexican cuisine and culture. This restaurant is a true gem, offering an unforgettable dining experience that is as vibrant and rich as the country it represents. The ambiance at Mesa Mezcal is nothing short of spectacular. The decor is a tasteful blend of traditional Mexican elements and contemporary design, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is spacious, yet intimate, making it perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. The menu at Mesa Mezcal is a culinary journey through Mexico. Each dish is a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with flavors that are both bold and nuanced. The chefs have done an exceptional job of balancing traditional Mexican recipes with innovative culinary techniques. The result is a menu that is familiar yet exciting, with dishes that cater to a wide range of palates. The standout for me was the Mezcal Marinated Steak, a dish that was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The accompanying sides were equally impressive, complementing the steak beautifully. The Guacamole prepared tableside was a delightful spectacle and tasted as good as it looked. The Tacos Al Pastor, with their succulent pork and tangy pineapple, were a revelation. The bar at Mesa Mezcal deserves a special mention. The selection of Mezcals and Tequilas is extensive, and the cocktails are expertly crafted. The signature Mezcal Margarita is a must-try, with its smoky undertones and refreshing citrus notes. The service at Mesa Mezcal is top-notch. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about providing an exceptional dining experience. They are more than happy to guide you through the menu and make recommendations based on your preferences. Mesa Mezcal is a shining star in the Westin hotel's culinary offerings. It is a place where the food, ambiance, and service come together to create a dining experience that is truly memorable. Whether you're a local or a visitor to Las Colinas, Texas, a meal at Mesa Mezcal is an absolute must.

I was staying in the hotel and I sat at the bar on a Wednesday night. Decent sized crowd for a Wednesday. My experience was just mediocre. The margaritas on the menu aren't awful but also aren't great. The old fashioned on the menu, however, was good. I had three tacos of Mahi Mahi. The fish was diced into small 1/2 inch cubes and barely filled two taco shells let alone the three that came with the meal. The black beans were the shining star with a lot of flavor and well seasoned. Everything else fell flat. Bartender was attentive and provided great service. If I lived locally I would not come back. But was fine for me given I didn't want to leave the hotel.
