The Best Late-Night Restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"There are few better spots than Mesa for late-night munchies. These pizzas have unorthodox toppings — creamy chicken penne, breaded eggplant, and barbecue steak and fries, to name a few. But none compare to the mac and cheese pizza, a legendary drunken slice for generations of U of M students. Mesa’s Dinkytown location is open ‘til 1 a.m. Thursday, and 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday; a second Lake Street location stays open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Delivery is available." - Eli Radtke

Google
Friendly service and decent options of slices available after concert at the Varsity Theater. I like that they warm the slices up for you once you place your order. I got the waffle fries w/ ranch and what seemed like a Greek option featuring grilled chicken with roasted veggies. I absolutely loved the Greek slice, the waffle fries slice was okay but not my favorite. I'd come back again in the future.

Google
I tried the Mac and cheese pizza last time I was here and it was absolute fire. I thought this place back home had the best Mac and cheese slices 🤩 but naw…. Best I’ve had thus far.

Google
Foldable pizza by the slice, try the pickle or jerk chicken with an orange thc soda 👌 Needs better decor and a little updating, but the pie is dank and the staff is kind.

My first time having Mac & Cheese on pizza. It is what you think it would taste like, no surprises. Clean, non greasy, flavorful slice. The cashier was super sweet to bake just a single slice for me. She also suggested to hit the book store opposite, which I did, and I think it was worth it.

The first time we tried this pizza we got it to go, and we were wow’d. But after going back and trying again I think we were just very hungry that first time because as much as I I wanted to like it again, the second visit was “meh”. The crust was really good. My partner’s mac and cheese slice had growth on it, and instead of complaining we just threw it away. The cashier dressed down like Luigi in green with a Luigi hat didn’t seem so friendly to us for some reason but we tipped anyways. You can get a better, heftier slice for around the same price at any Pizza Luce. The interior is nice and comfortable though.

Google
Open late. I had the chicken bacon ranch and BBQ pizza. It was so good; just one slice was more than satisfying. I called ahead, and they had my pizza ready when I arrived. It cost about $11 for two slices and a can of Mountain Dew. I will come back many times. 😋

Google
Probably some of the better New York style pizza in the twin cities, the crust is almost perfect, and with the best variety of toppings, but it’s hard to get past the outrageous price. At nearly $40 with tax for a specialty 16 inch, you barely get a savings over buy per slice. I’ve been coming here occasionally as a treat for years and would love to make this one of my primary pizza places, but can’t justify the insane cost that keeps going up. In the future I will continue to generally limit this as a once or twice a year treat for a slice, instead of whole pies for a group due to cost.

Google
Mesa pizza had catered a scout event I was at earlier. There pizzas are good with interesting combinations. They also serve individual slices. The photographed ones are pepperoni mushroom and eggplant both are of course is quite good.

Yelp
Mesa pizza is worth the trip! Their Mac and cheese pizza is super and the gyro pizza is my second choice. It's a popular place so expect to stand in line during events and busy times. They heat your slice individually so it's piping hot when you get it. Honestly it hits the spot EVERY time and they do not miss.

Yelp
Friendly people and with a great vibe, but that's about the best of Mesa. The pizza's usually dry unless you grab it fresh, which wouldn't be a big issue if it weren't the most important aspect of a pizza place. At least if you're looking for a little place to hangout for a bit and incidentally grab a slice, Mesa's a nice place.

Yelp
My first time here! They had a lot of different options and I'm usually not a fan of pizza or the crust but this place def have swayed me. The crust was nice and crispy. I tried the Alfredo pizza and it was delicious. We also tried the bbq meat and Mac n cheese. The staff were patient with us when we were looking through the different slice options trying to figure out which ones we wanted.

Yelp
It fills a pizza niche that is otherwise vacant in the "by the slice" and the "original toppings" pizza scene. Plus check out Book House across the street

Yelp
If you find yourself in Dinkytown for a Gopher sporting event, you are touring the school, or really any reason at all - Mesa Pizza should be at the top of your list for lunch or dinner. If you go to school there - you already know this. I love pizza - but I'm in love WITH Mesa Pizza. They sell specialty toppings by the slice, but you can order full pizzas (they can get expensive if you go that route). The slices are large so they should fill you up with 1-3. They are known for the mac and cheese pizza, but my favorites are the philly cheese steak, the gyro, and the southwest taco. My mouth waters just thinking about them! I wish they had additional locations outside of Dinkytown and Uptown... I'm not sure how many different types they actually have - as it seems the pizza creators in the kitchen sometimes get to experiment! You may want to avoid going here after bar close on the weekends - I know from experience that the lines can get wicked long and the clientele may be... having a good time.

Yelp
Whenever I'm on my pizza craving mode, I know Mesa's Mac&cheese pizza always hits the spot. The taco pizza is pretty tasty too

Yelp
pizza by the slice is a bit pricey and the pizza is too good to just eat one... so i would definitely recommend getting a whole pie. you can pick 1/2 1/2. service and nice, and the place is a clean pleasant place if you just want to hang for it but while eating the pizza.

Yelp
Garbage pizza that has been sitting there for days. I'd rather eat Costco's pizza, at least theirs hot & fresh and larger. Workers are some lazy/slow hippies who are seemingly high as a kite, plus they look like they never showered, starring at people like they never seen humans before, and on top of that, they talk about you in front of you, I guess that's their way of trying to grab your attention. I couldn't wait to get out of there, I'm guessing they took extra 15 mins to give me the damn slice, felt very uncomfortable and annoyed but still tipped. I have not tried Frank & Andrea's pizza but I've been inside there and workers are respectful, fast and courteous, even though the place is always packed but the line goes so fast.

Yelp
Mesa is usually my go to for late night grub, but maybe this time they were a little off. I went in on a late Friday night, wasn't too busy, but the server seemed annoyed when I was asking about the difference varieties I was seeing (ones I wasn't familiar with). Ended up with the Chicken Alfredo which is one of my go tos there. Price is reasonable, parking sucks as it's Dinkytown(unless you go late late night), but the food is always good.

Scott M.

Yelp
Ordered through Grubhub this past Friday evening. Not only was the order late, I asked for contactless delivery...the driver rang my doorbell, waking my child, and the food was delivered cold... If I wanted a cold pizza I would have just pulled one out from the fridge. Taste was mediocre, nothing special, probably would have been better if it were even Luke warm, but it wasn't Contacted grub hub, all they did was go oh sorry for your experience, here's a $5 promo. Like that will make up for the overall disregard toward the customer and poor quality of food delivered. Won't be ordering from here or utilizing Grubhub again.
google avatar

Mandy R.

Yelp
I would first recommend calling the store to get their personal delivery service vs GrubHub delivery. You will have more menu items available and more money directly to the company - cut out the middle man. This pizza OMG! Thin NY style crust but wood fire and crispy! The ingredients and flavor to die for!! Love the unique options and will definitely try more when I'm this area again!

Yelp
This place is known for it's weird, crazy, unique, types of pizzas. It is also known for the perfect spot after a night of drinking. I heard it gets pack after 10pm on the weekends. My friend and I went on a Wednesday evening around 5pm. It was not that pack at all. They had some pizzas made already that you can pick from and they will reheat it for you. Or you can order something else and they will make it fresh right there! It took 10 mins for them to make us our pizza fresh. We ordered the BBQ beef and fries, gyros, and steak and guac pizza. Gyros pizza: This was one of my favorites! It literally tastes like the gyros sandwich that you would get! It had the yogurt sauce, onions, gyros and tomatoes. The pizza crust was also nice and crispy. It was bomb! Steak and guac pizza: This is a popular pizza here. Personally, I thought it was too much. I actually couldn't finish this and had it the next day. I think this pizza probably only taste good fresh. I did not like it at all the next day. I also thought it has too much sauce going on for my taste. There was the chipotle sauce drizzle on top and the creaminess of the guac was overwhelming. By the way, the chipotle sauce has a kick to it! BBQ beef and fries: This was is also popular as well. If you like bbq sauce you would probably like this one. Overall, I think if you are hungry or drunk you would like this place for their specialty pizza. Even though I did like the pizza when I was eating it fresh, it wasn't all that the next day. This is just my personal opinion.

Yelp
Stopped by here after a real long day to grab some pizza, as one does. The interior was very clean, well maintained and decorated lightly old Chicago-esqe. They were absolutely slammed with mobile orders, so I can't speak much for the staff attitude, thought the two minutes I had to order were pleasant. Took around 30 minutes for my two pizzas to finish up, which was sooner than I had expected given how busy they seemed. Now here's where it gets less than awesome. I ordered a Mac & Cheese pizza (I'm a sucker for carbs) and a Philly Cheesesteak pizza. The M&C was a superb, knock-out and come back for more pizza. The absolutely a favorite pizza of mine now. The PC was an absolute trainwreck. Little sauce of any kind left the spices to try and pick up the slack, which it just couldn't manage. Additionally, I am uncertain if it was overseasoning and actually what I tasted, but that pizza was horribly musty, moldy in flavor. It was so off-putting that I honestly didn't know if I could finish the pizza (I did, but only after dousing the pizza in a garlic aioli I bought separately). Again I am not sure if the flavor was just heavy spicing with no balancing or if the vegetables/meat on that pizza were actually moldy in some form (I didn't get ill, so probably spices), but it shouldn't take buying a sauce on my own to make a pizza palatable. If this review was only the M&C, it would have been a 5/5. Unfortunately, the PC was so dreadful that I really can't give the place more than 2/5. KEEP IN MIND that Mesa has a ton of options and perhaps this was just one really bad one. I'll be ordering from them in the future, but that PC pizza won't be hitting my plate ever again.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to get some end of night pizza and this was open at the time. The place itself was decent but definitely wasn't the best pizza joint I've been to. The people working were incredibly friendly. Ended up getting 4 separate slices...the mac and cheese one was unique and I think the best of the bunch.
google avatar

Yelp
The pizza is great! And so are the breadsticks. The food is really good and very consistent. They have a large selection of vegetarian pizza. They will make a slice of anything on the menu if it isn't already out. It takes about 15 minutes, and they won't do it too close to closing time. But it's nice to be able to get such a large variety.

Yelp
As an undergrad at the U of M, Mesa pizza has always had a special place in my heart and stomach (and probably hips). Even though I'm not a student, I still call up Mesa for delivery because it is delicious! My favorite is obviously the Mac and cheese. I am so sad that they do not deliver slices because I would probably just do this once every other week at least. If you are overwhelmed by the choices, skip the menu, and get the Mac and cheese. Really, no slice has been a major let down. I also love that Mesa offers so many flavors and options to cater to many different palates. You are bound to find something that you like!

Yelp
I really wanted a different pizza tonight, so I decided on this place with Ubereats. I ordered a Taco pizza, with no tomatoes, but with black olives. This pizza was very tasty with a taco beef flavor, pico de gallo, peppers, cheddar cheese and a thin crust. No flavor on the crust. But I was very pleased on the baking time and fast delivery. I don't find many pizza places who make taco pizza, but I'm glad this is one, and I will definitely order from here soon again.

Yelp
First visit here is an amahhhhhhzing experience!!! Must see in the Twin Cities! Friendly service -- will be back

Sam G.

Yelp
Pizza tasted like cardboard. They close their seating by the window when it gets late, leaving only 5 or 6 chairs open. Ridiculous because late nights are when the most people are out and about. No logic, and overrated pizza.
google avatar

Yelp
I love you Mesa Pizza. Especially late at night. You're my guilty pleasure after a long night of drinking. Although I could do without the sometimes rude but always loud staff, constant long lines, and slightly dirty looking establishment. I'll put up with all of it for a slice. There's a big selection of pizza with unique toppings. Think mac and cheese, gyro, mashed potatoes with beef, penne or lasagna pasta, pulled pork with pickles, etc. It's rare I pick a slice I don't like, but irregardless the crust is always perfect, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside. I'm hungry now. Prepare to wait in line, and keep moving forward or you'll get yelled at. After ordering you'll have to wait for them to pop it back in the oven for a few minutes. There's grated Parmesan cheese, crushed red peppers, and other condiments available. The speciality slices are about $3.75, cash only, totally worth it! You can eat there, you'll find a few chairs. Most people grab it to go. I'm glad I don't live close by. I'd be 500lbs by now. If you're in the neighborhood you have to try a slice of pizza here!
google avatar

Yelp
If you go to Dinkytown, you best be going to Mesa! It's perfect to 'sober up to' after a night out. It's cheap/reasonable and tasty (drunk or sober!) I'm not sure you can go wrong on a type of pizza. I personally love the pizza's with pasta on them, so mac and cheese, the pesto alfredo, but let's be real. I won't say no to any of their flavors. Pizza is always fresh and warm. The perfect amount of greasy and delicious. Never soggy or cold. HUGE variety that has something for everyone, including boring flavors... The toppings are always generously applied which makes it all even better! Slices are legit sized and not no 'slice for a mouse'... How many restaurants needs a bouncer for their evenings... like that says something about how amazing Mesa really is. The staff is authentic and adds to the whole experience. Perfect for a college town with a fun environment and good prices and quality while you're on a college budget. If I could eat mesa on a regular basis I totally would... no shame... If you're at the U, on a budget, or both. Go to mesa!

Yelp
Employees were extremely rude. Wasn't successful placing an order. No customers were in the store. Failed mystery shop. I easily found my way out.

Yelp
Mesa pizza is a dinky staple. I've literally been eating their pizza for 11 years - like when it was only half of the size it is now. I had this pizza at my prom, for pete's sake. Of their locations, this is the first and the best. This is what they do: pizza, specialty pizza. They supposedly offer salads, but honestly, if it doesn't come on a crust, just forget it. Anyway, as far as specialty pizza goes, no one compares. Their Mac and cheese will always taste like home. It's a staple and a classic. As I've gotten older, I've expanded my tastebuds a bit and ushered in the gyro pizza, the southern gentleman (crust topped with mashed potatoes, cheese, blackened chicken and bacon), Charles broccoli (alfredo, chicken, broccoli), and FMTB (fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil), to name a few. But honestly, in 11 years, I haven't had a bad slice.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
I was just at mesa being super respectful. The people there working the late shift were incredibly rude. They were disrespectful to a kind costumer that offered to pay early in order to make their life easier. Despite the 25% tip that I gave they almost refused to give me the pizza that I payed for. It wasn't until someone in the line gave up "their" pizza that i was able to get the pizza I payed for. While frandreas may be a longer line the customer service is worth it and they don't rip u off. Mesa sucks.
google avatar

Shata Y.

Yelp
So many slices to choose from at a low price $3.60. There's something for everyone and worth a stop. Their thin crust pizza is nice and crunchy after they heat it up.

Michael H.

Yelp
Heard some good things about it and decided to try it out. The pizza was solid, the sauce was very basily and the crust was nice a crispy. The cheese was the downside of the pizza and was underwhelming to say the least. It was a bit pricy, I got 2 slices for $10 but at least the takeout box was cute. Overall it was pretty good and I will definitely going back. They had a bunch of different options and they all looked good.
google avatar

Laure J.

Yelp
Lots of flavors for every palate here at mesa pizza! you can order a full pizza or by the slice! Im not a big fan of novelty pizza but the philly cheese steak was amazing! The guy running the shop was very nice & patient describing all the different types of pizza on display.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
We decided to come here late one night and all we had to do was follow the many students heading to the front door. While they have security keeping things in order, there's sure to be some excitement at the later time. We got in line and ordered our mac n cheese pizzas (what else would we get?). Luckily we were able to grab some seats and enjoy every bite. They also provide water in the back!

Betsy W.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try this for a long time , so many unique varieties of pizza to choose from I went for the half cheese and half bbq steak and fries pizza , I don't know if it was busy on Monday night or just too late as it was 9:30 pm but the pizza was cold , the fries were frozen like they barely cooked at all super gross and everything but the crust was just mushy . Not great flavor . Not sure why . Maybe bad timing or too busy but not interested in ordering again.
google avatar

H G.

Yelp
Stopped in for a slice of Philly cheesesteak pizza today. So very good with lots of meat and and peppers. A crispy but soft crust, wood fired to perfection. Don't forget a side of garlic aioli! Very friendly staff and a large selection to choose from.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of Mesa. They provide a wide variety of pizza (mostly flavors you cant find anywhere else!) for a cheap price. If you like to be adventurous with your pizza, this is the place for you. You can get a gyro pizza to pesto chicken, they can make anything taste good on pizza. My personal favorite is the mac n cheese pizza (what is better than a carb on carb?!). It is the most popular flavor, so if its your first time, you have to try it! I must say the pizza does taste even better at 2 am. If anyone is in the Dinkytown area, this is a must try!
google avatar

HJ P.

Yelp
Mezza must concentrate on in store orders. My orders from GrubHub were more than 30 minutes late both times. Not sure, but there were many excuses and each time I called for a status update.. no one knew. Pretty frustrating for such a highly rated restaurant.

Emily S.

Yelp
Amanda the serviced was beyond rude. I've never been to the city and ask her a question and yelled at me because I couldn't hear her. She told me it was my problem!! This is beyond ridiculous!! Like if "Amanda"can't help a customer with a question I don't think she's qualified to work here. I will not be returning!! BEYOND SAD

Yelp
Let's not sugar coat this...Mesa is THE place for U students with the drunchies in Dinkytown. The earliest time Mesa closes is at midnight on Sundays. Other than that, they close at either 2:30am or 3:00am. But Mesa knows their niche and how to cater to them. The pizza is nice and greasy, and there are a variety of unique pizzas with various toppings, from classic pepperoni, to BBQ Sausage, Ham, and Bacon, to their specialty Mac 'n' Cheese pizza. The system at Mesa is that they sell pizza by the slice, have customers line up and select the pizza(s) they want, heat them up, and serve them up. Again, they know their niche, and they know how to serve them. Needless to say, the atmosphere here is going to be exactly what you expect, but Mesa is well equipped with security to deal with and kick out any drunk idiot that gets too out of control (which actually happened when we went there). If you're prepared to deal with the drunk crowd, or you ARE part of the drunk crowd, this is a great place to satisfy your late night hunger.
google avatar

Emma E.

Yelp
Super yummy pizza! They sell by the slice and one should be fine unless you're really hungry or have a higher metabolism. Don't be scared away by the location and/or interior; the staff are very nice and the food is high quality relative to the price. We were the only ones there on a Sunday evening, but that's probably because they mostly cater and customers often take out.
google avatar

Bryn L.

Yelp
So I've never been here because I actually live in California and accidentally placed an order here thinking it was my local pizza place! I couldn't have received a kinder response when explaining the situation and having to cancel the order. Thank you so much for being so understanding.
google avatar

Yelp
Lived up to the hype. That was some tasty pizza. No beer? Minus one. Got here right around the start of the Gophers football game today. Seemed like they had all of the pies on the menu available for by the slice purchase and their menu is very extensive. Apparently, they didn't have the vegan as some guy stormed out when he was told they didn't have that one. I have had pizza that I have enjoyed more in Chicago and New York, but I think Mesa is my new Minnesota favorite. The sheer variety and unique combinations make it worth checking out at least once. To borrow an analogy from another Yelper whose review I saw, Mesa is to pizza what D-Spot is to chicken wings. I went with the Macaroni and Cheese. Awesome combination. Two of my favorite foods combined. Surprised I have never seen this elsewhere. Also had the chicken cordon bleu. Both were darn good. Crust is what I would consider NY style. No beer is a minor gripe as I had a couple nearby afterwards, but rules are rules. If you are going to serve me food and allow me to sit down in your establishment and eat it, I want me a cold one at a minimum. I like to enjoy my pleasures simultaneously.
google avatar

Domingo C.

Yelp
This is a good pizza place located in a college town area for the price you are paying. They have a ridiculous amount of options, but my favorites have always been the Chicken Quesadilla, Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Pesto (clearly, I love chicken), and Macoroni & Cheese. While I've enjoyed a handful of others throughout the years, those are my go-to choices. I believe that recently, these implemented more vegetarian and vegan options, so I believe they are trying their best to accommodate as many people as possible!

Yelp
Mesa Pizza is quite the HOPPIN' place. It was around bar close time, and the line was LONG. We had to wait in line for over 30 minutes before we got to the front and needless to say, it was a stressful environment. I felt like I was surrounded by drunk people and the staff weren't helping the situation. The pizza we wanted wasn't available, so we had to settle for what they had out at the time. My boyfriend practically got yelled as he was trying to point at the pizza he wanted to buy for the both of us. I had to put the guy in his place, and he smiled at me because he seemed to understand me better than my boyfriend, but trust me, I was still a bit annoyed with the guy. I get that there were a lot of people to cater to, but he didn't treat my boyfriend in a way that I would say was conducive to "good service." I was happy to pay and get out of there. To be honest, I don't even remember what pizza we got because of how hectic and unprofessional the staff person was. He seemed to get frustrated when we asked him what the pizza slices were, so we quickly picked some out just to keep the line moving. I'm giving Mesa a 3 because of how good their pizza was. The slices were large, and the toppings tasted amazing even after 2:00am. If the employees shape up and learn how to work under pressure, this place would be awesome. I've heard that it's better to go during the day when you can actually get the pizza you request, so I'll have to come back sometime.
google avatar

Yelp
Most the time when I hear about a steak and fries pizza or a spicy burrito pizza, I wonder how this can possibly be good. Mesa is proof that you can pretty much put anything on a pizza and make it good, and I should have known that duh! The spicy chicken burrito is awesome and I really dig the Southern gentleman as well. Another winner here is the southwest taco, it's Mesa's take on a taco pizza and it's great, whatever this southwest sauce is, I want to buy a jug of it and put it on everything. You can either order pizza by the slice or you get a huge 20" pizza, there's no in between. I'll say off of personal experience a 20" pizza is bigger than what you imagine in your head, but 3 hungry people can easily put one of these down. Mesa also offers a good selection of vegetarian pizzas (whatever those are) for those who are on diets or something. Although I wouldn't put this up there with the best pizzas, I think they are the best at what they do and the pizza is honestly really good. Definitely worth a stop or 10! The staff here is great too!
google avatar

Irving W.

Yelp
This place offers the classic pizza by the slice experience where you choose what kind of slice you want from a display and they heat it up for you. They have a truly dizzying array of options for both omnivores and vegetarians. I love the tomato mozzarella basil pizza and the Mac and cheese pizza. They offer a discount if you pay in cash. There aren't a lot of places to sit but there is a nice little counter and a few seats on the side
google avatar

Erin G.

Yelp
Definitely lived up to the hype. I walked in with my kid because I love to drag him along on food adventures, although he is SO not adventurous. I thought maybe he'd get into the mac and cheese pizza, but no. He chose pepperoni. Typical. As for me, I am the most indecisive person ever. I go into each meal as though it were my last and as if the decision will impact my future. So I walked in and there were about 45 choices of pizza so I froze and took about 10 minutes to decide. The guy behind the counter was super cool and patiently told me the flavor of every pizza slice I pointed out. Eventually I chose southwest taco, chicken gyro, and red pepper eggplant. They were ALL SO GOOD! The eggplant was my least fav and the taco was the best. I would be in deep deep trouble if this place was close to me. Now I have a mission to try them all. They were all so beautiful.

Yelp
I thought the vegan pizza here would have soy or rice cheese, but it does not. It doesn't have mockmeat toppings either. That said, they had one slice left of their "vegan pizza", which has a perfectly light and crispy crust, a semi-sweet and salty red sauce, and a TON of grilled vegetables as toppings (zucchini, bell peppers, artichoke, mushrooms, onions, etc.). The slice, costing only $3, was excellent. I'm not sure this place qualifies as "vegan-friendly" simply because it was smart enough to realize it's in Dinkytown and should offer at least one vegan item, but the quality of the taste and the reasonable price for the slice makes this a good joint. If they only start adding soy cheese and some mockmeat toppings (Galactic Pizza and Pizza Luce have both), this place would get a lot more patronage from at least one vegan.

Yelp
Mesa is a godsend to the drunk, cheap, and hungry students of Dinkytown. Not even going to make any recommendations because part of the fun is in picking it out when you're there and asking what each slice is. Make sure you get some crazy sauce ("Pimp Juice aka Ranch", chipotle sour cream) to mix it with. Staff is always friendly, helpful, and most likely high. Get in line and talk to some other drunk strangers while you wait. PS the pizza is actually just as good when sober... But part of the experience is being drunk for it. Enjoy!

Yelp
Mesa Pizza is actually rather outstanding. I don't want to leave because of the atmosphere. You can order anything and it will be terrific, I tried Buffalo Chicken Pizza and was really amazed. The people that work here are really nice. I totally recommend Mesa Pizza.

Yelp
You know when you are completely black out drunk... and when you come out of it you discover that you have eaten?? This is typically the place that I find out that I ate at! It's like every drunk college student comes here for an after bar slice, and I can TOTALLY see why! I finally had to go in while sober(cabbing) to see what all the fuss was about! Typically drunk me and sober me have a few differing tastes, much like a woman would when she is/isn't pregnant. But it's like the middle ground for everyone served with sauce on dough! It was love at first bite! The gyro pizza (although greasier than the fry-cook at a McDonalds) was PHENOMINAL! It left me feeling quite satisfied if not in dire need of a shower. Mmmmmm just thinking about it is making my mouth water.

Yelp
I wish this place had been around when I went to the U of M. The pizzas are good with a ton of variety. The place is tiny, I think of it as a to go place. I like that they sell cans of pop, and that a lot of pizza choices are just there for heating and taking, no waiting to have stuff made. What it is not gonna be at this price is artisan pizza. If you are looking for the fancy stuff, you need to go elsewhere. This place is for a quick lunch or after the bar, it's not intended to be a dining experience. Love Mesa for what it is and you will enjoy.

Yelp
Some Co-workers and I were checking out the new Target Express (Which was really cool, if I had this place in college, it would have saved a hour trip with 3 friends to the Cub 3 miles away, since they have all the food I ate in college, like rice, soup, and hot sauce) in Dinkeytown and we needed some lunch, so we pulled up Yelp and saw that Mesa Pizza was right nearby. We entered and there is a huge slab of pizzas that ready for consumption by the slice. I ordered a spicy buffalo chicken and another spicy taco pizza slice. Seriously, there are about 8 pizzas to choose from. I get real pizza with cheese about 4 times a year, so when I get it, I want some good stuff. We sat down with our cans of soda (Boo, I like the fountain drinks) and within about five minutes, they took the slice that they warmed up in the pizza oven and called our names. The slices were perfect! Soft, yet crispy crust with toppings that made the heart flitter, with just enough cheese as to not make it soggy. We asked for some Frank's hot sauce to add some spiciness to the spicy pizza, kind of Minnesota spicy. Very mild on my spiciness scale. It was cool that they gave us the squeeze bottle of the buffalo sauce to add ourselves. The server guys were super cool and the pizza was amazing, hence the 4 stars. Not bad for under $10 with the soda.
