Mesa Tacos and Tequila

For my first time here, I was less than impressed with the service. I waited a ridiculous amount of time for water, then my drink. Also, I don’t expect a server to be like a vulture and jump on me during the first bite to ask me how everything is. I do however, expect to see the server before half of my rice and beans are gone, and I’m starting on taco number three of three. Plus, when you are filling waters at the table next to me with a pitcher, all you have to do is turn around and remember your other customer. Now normally I would leave no more than a 10% tip for bad service, but I made an exception here and actually left a decent tip considering all of that. He was actually very nice when I did see him, and I thought he might be newer to serving and just need some pointers. The establishment itself was very cool. One big turnoff though was being charged an additional $3 for a “rocks pour” on my tequila, yet I still got the regular 2 ounce pour. So, basically I paid three more dollars for ice? I will return, as my food was decent, I like the atmosphere, and I almost always give a place a second chance to wow me. However, I will not be recommending Mesa to anyone else just yet, as I need that second time to know for sure.

Love the food & atmosphere. Perfect for a ladies night, friend catch up time, or a bite for a solo dinner date. Tons of food options & very friendly staff who seem like they LOVE working there (very friendly, laid back, and patient with questions about food). Will be back to try the drink flights, which are very popular!

Cute little place with a cozy vibe, good food and lively atmosphere. We tried a variety of vegetarian dishes. Nachos, Fajitas, quesadillas and the wet burrito were very flavorful. The veg avocado tacos were bland though. A good selection of beer and cocktails too!

Mesa is the perfect place for fun margaritas, excellent food and friendly staff. Patrick was knowledgable, friendly and very attentive. Despite being short staffed, he made sure we had everything we needed and more! Definitely plan to make this one of your stops in Royal Oak. Pic: Blackberry Margarita!

The Best Restaurant I have eaten at in a long time! The environment was absolutely beautiful, Our food was prepared very Quickly & was Delicious!!!! And our server Trey was, courteous, friendly, helpful and attentive. Will definitely be recommending to others & coming back!

Iesha Iesha. Girl is on point with everything. My chips were so hot and fresh made me jump out my seat. Food is the bomb here. They must have got new cook up in here. Up in here. Attached a pic of my delicious tacos. Can't wait to come back and see Iesha. Best server ever. Thought you knew girl.

Delicious and great first visit here. Our server Dylan was one the best highlights. Recommended drinks and dishes to try! I look forward to returning. I didn't get a picture of the tacos I had. They were eaten pretty quickly lol

I don’t want to pile high on this place particularly because there are so many third rate Mexican restaurants in Michigan. But mesa is a true disappointment. The face lift did very little to hide the fact that the food is really something out that feels bland and overflowing with that taste that’ll stay in your mouth for too long a time.
