"Meso Maya, the beloved Dallas spot for elevated Mexican cuisine, opened its seventh outpost in Addison today. The eatery from Firebird Restaurant Group made its debut at the corner of Montfort Dr. Chef Nico Sanchez will continue to oversee the culinary program of Mayan-influenced Mexican fare with dishes such as Pollo Con Mole, Cochinita Pibíl, Carne Asada, and Budin Azteca - a layered corn tortilla dish that can be ordered with beef, vegetables, or chicken and green tomatillo sauce (highly recommended), which is strangely reminiscent of lasagne. Some new items gracing the menu in Addison include the Pescado Veracruz, Camarones a La Diabla, and Bistek Oaxaca. Meso Maya’s same delicious agave-forward cocktail offerings will be making their way to Addison, including items like the avocado margarita. Chef Sanchez said in a statement, 'Addison has a large variety of restaurants, but nothing like the elevated dining experience that Meso Maya offers. Our menu features original dishes made from fresh, authentic ingredients using the scratch cooking practices that I first learned while growing up in central Mexico. When you dine at Meso Maya, I want you to feel like you are enjoying a meal in my own home.'" - Alaena Hostetter

We wanted to eat Tacos for lunch which turned out to be a late lunch given we had a difficult time finding a spot that had authentic TexMex cuisine. We stopped in at Torchy’s Tacos based on the four star review but the place was more like a fast food chain restaurant. Probably it is but we were looking for something a bit more intimate dining experience. We headed to velvet tacos which was also more of a take out spot so we finalized on Meso Maya. The staff and waiter was friendly and welcoming. The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for and it felt warm and cozy. Our waiter was very friendly as well and explained the what to expect at Meso Maya vs the other taco spots. The corn tortilla basket and dip was delicious. We ordered ceviche as well as guacamole to start and both dishes were tasty but needed a bit more flavor. I feel a bit more lime juice would do the trick so we requested additional lime wedges which was not a problem. Visiting from NY/NYC where there’s a fusion of flavors left our taste buds with high expectations. We ordered Taco pollo and Taco camarones which were a bit on the bland side as well. They were also lacking flavors and the sauce provided did not spice things up as well so this was below expectations thus the three stars. The ambiance at the restaurant is welcoming and satisfying. Good music and service. Overall, the experience was fair but the food was a bit lacking in taste. The waiter did offer to make us a strawberry mojito which was something not on the menu so we commend them for the effort. The mojito was great so because of this we are leaving four starts.

This is a Mexican restaurant but on a little higher scale than average. It has a nice ambiance and the food was not your average enchiladas! For an appetizer we wanted to try something different and I’m glad we did! We got the Chicharrones. The pork was so flavorful and tender and when you put it into the corn tortillas with the cilantro and pickled onions the flavors pop in your mouth! I had a Kale Verde salad with grilled shrimp and it was good. My daughter had the Del Mar enchiladas and she couldn’t finish it all it was such a large portion. Definitely try this place out when you’re in Addison. Oh yeah - the drinks were good, too.

Fantastic restaurant! Very nice interior and welcoming host staff. Beautiful bar with lively yet intimate seating for couples and families. The menu is just right, not too many items, but a good selection of authentic Mexican cuisine. I ordered the Serrano strawberry margarita which was wonderfully prepared. The poblano enchiladas are a must have for those who like mole. The chef's mole is full of flavor and simply a delight. The wait staff was super knowledgeable and friendly. The food service was quick and our food was prepared to perfection. 10 out of 10 for Meso Maya. Highly recommend and likely need to make reservations for the weekends, but they seated us quickly without any reservation on a Tuesday. Great job Meso Maya!

This was our first visit and it was on Valentine's Day evening. The hostess was friendly and reseated us promptly after initially seating us next to a family with an obnoxious tween. The waiter greeted us in a timely manner and took our drink and appetizer order. We decided on ceviche and it was fresh and delicious. We ordered the Cochinita Pibil and Mole Enchiladas. The food came out very quickly - so quickly that we hadn't even eaten half of our appetizer! Both dishes were delicious and reminded up of similar dishes we have had while traveling in Mexico. After the food was delivered, the restaurant got busy, and the remaining table service seemed a bit slow. Regardless, we had a great evening and give them a 4 star review overall.

We came here last night for dinner and it was great! We were seated right away and the service was amazing. My husband ordered the carne asada entree, which we ended up just sharing because my entree was a little too spicy for me. I ordered the chicken enchiladas. The carne asada was cooked perfectly and was so flavorful. We will definitely be returning for that.

Enjoyed the experience. Food was very flavorful and authentic. You could taste the earthy flavors. The cocktails were very good and tasteful. Avocado Margarita is good. A variety of appetizers, entrees and some desserts. Our server, Chris, was very detailed and served us course by course (drinks, appetizers, entrees, and lastly desserts). Lovely ambience for family, friends, dates, special occasions and romantic dates. Highly suggested to experience. Being a food reviewer, I don't give easy scores. Even has seating to view the kitchen. Very nice bar area to enjoy for drinks only. Outside seating available and private seating as well. Come and enjoy for yourself. I highly suggest making reservations in advance (on opentable if you use it).High compliments to the Managers and staff. I enjoyed Mesomaya on hairline and Montfort in Addison, TX.

I finally have the chance to give this place a try and so happy I did! Being a designer, I always check out the decor. The selections they made were tasteful and stylish. Some really fabulous light fixtures in the bar, great faux succulent arrangements. The weather was perfect so I sat on the patio, also very nice. The food...It all started with the chips and salsa, let me start there. I always say you can tell a great restaurant by the salsa. It was this really great roasted quality to it. Chips were perfect. I ordered a brisket and a serrano enchilada. Both were excellent, full, bold flavors. Was served with white rice and black beans, very nicely presented. This will definitely be a place I return! 👍👍 Two thumbs up y'all!

Atmosphere was awesome, they did a really wonderful job redecorating and revamping this place. As for the wait staff, our waitress could have spent more time taking care of customers rather than on her phone just inside the kitchen. She was in view of the customers through the door which has a large window in it. The Bloody Mary, one of the best I've ever had! My wife's mimosa very good what, according to her I'm not a big fan of mimosas LOL. Her Serrano enchiladas it was very good, she enjoyed the tartness of the cheese and how well the flavors Blended together. My carne asada however was somewhat of a letdown, it's definitely needed pepper and it was a tad oily, I'm assuming they brush it with oil to keep it from sticking to the grill in back. However, given the five star systems and utilizing the same system on each item that I have named, this place only gets 2.5 Stars no, actually a little less than that giving us a total point value is 35 for five stars for each item. Coming out with just 17 Stars total, dividing that down you're looking at at Weston a 50% score.bit with a curve, 3 stars. Well I go back? Yes, but if I have the carne asada I will ask them not to go see any oil on, I know that it's supposed to help keep it tender, but I would rather have something for less oily.
