"Located on the Brazos River, this spot uses mesquite wood for their grilled burgers, steaks, barbecue, and seafood. Start off meal with thee Armadillo Eggs to get a first taste of the mouthwatering smoked meats — it’s pickled jalapenos stuffed with chopped brisket, cheddar cheese, and battered in breadcrumbs." - Courtney E. Had a ribeye with shrimp. Cook to perfection! Great flavor! Shrimp was also flavorful but small. Great view of the lake. They have patio seating- but its was too hot to sit outside. Had the coconut Margarita with toasted coconut on the rim. Really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend this place!

Google
This place was great. There is plenty of parking, the establishment is nice and clean. A comfortable atmosphere. You can dine inside or outside and enjoy the beautiful lake view. The service was friendly enough. It did take awhile to get our food, and the temperature was alright. I ordered the armadillo eggs, which were amazing and the smokehouse cheddar burger, which again was amazing. Both were cooked perfectly and the side of fries were fresh cut and nicely seasoned. My husband ordered chopped brisket and sausage. Both were okay, but if you're the type that prefers a little char and smoke ring, this isn't that. My son had the chicken fried steak. Gravy was perfect, but the chicken fried steak was more on the chewy side. Overall it's a wonderful place and I will definitely be back! As far as price, it's about average, not cheap but not outrageous either. So take the family, go for a date night or day or just go for yourself! You'll leave with a full belly and a smile!

Google
I ordered the three meat platter, the spare ribs were ok, I like baby back ribs better, the sausage was over cooked and dry and they gave me chopped brisket for my third meat, I've never had chopped brisket on a platter, only on a sandwich and I did not like the flavor of the chopped brisket. The potato salad was whipped way too much, I like mine a chunky. And I didn't care for the bbq sauce at all. Overall, I was disappointed in the food.

Google
The food was fine, server very friendly and views of the Lake was nice. The place was not as clean as it should be, food all over the floor in the dining room and staff just kept walking over it.

Google
We saw the sign that read best margaritas in town so we decided to give it a try. I got the brisket quesadilla and it’s a lot of food. The coconut margaritas are to die for. Service was great, food was great, and atmosphere was great! Edit: still great service and margaritas but the food is just ok. My husband got a very rare bison burger.

This was by far the worst dining experience I've had in America! We waited 20 minutes just to be acknowledged by someone, there were only 2 customers when we arrived. The waiter had a bit of an attitude. The food was absolutely terrible, the best thing we had was the cornbread (not even by a little either, by a ton!) Every bit of meat any of us had was extremely dry, as well as bland and flavorless. They claim they have the best margarita's in the county, probably to entice people to drink before eating. As you would notice how terrible the food is otherwise. Went for my daughter's birthday, spent over $110 before tip. And none of us could even stomach how bad the food was, I would never recommend this place to anyone. I highly recommend that it be closed. Nobody should have to endure this terrible food ever, let alone pay top dollar for it. 10/10 will never visit again. The scenery was very nice though.

Google
I'm mixed on this place. It was highly recommended but it's average at best. The ribs were tender and delicious. The brisket was a little overcooked but full of flavor. However the BBQ sauce is the weakest part of the whole meal. As you can see the sauce is slathered all over the ribs but it is way too vinegary. Maybe put it on the side. And the sides were cold for the whole table.

Google
Unique menu. Fair prices. I ordered the armadillo eggs, the chicken fried bacon, and the 3/4” ribeye, medium rare. Everything was pretty dang delicious! The armadillo eggs weren’t too spicy. The chicken fried bacon was good , but it’s literally just breaded and fried bacon but hey it works. The steak was a perfect medium rare and sizable. I believe my server Adrianna and she did a great job. The strawberry moscato lemonade was aweeesome. I’m now realizing I didn’t get hot rolls with my meal which is unfortunate.

Yelp
The view over the lake is stunning from the back porch of this restaurant & from the tables towards the back of the restaurant. I came here with my mom & dad along with my three kids while visiting Granbury. We ordered 2 meat salads, a cheeseburger and fries, the chopped brisket with mashed potatoes and fries, the chicken tenders, green beans and fries and the bison burger (wrapped in lettuce) with a side salad. Our meals as a whole were quite tasty. The only disappointing parts were that I felt both burgers were a bit overcooked (a little dry) and the side salad that came as a side was very small (especially considering there was an additional $1.99 up charge to substitute it as a side). Our food took a little longer than average to come out but our waitress was very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
I called in an order for 2 pieces of cheese cake mid-afternoon (after the lunch rush). They told me it would be 5-10 minutes, I told them that's fine, I'd be there in 15. I was hoping to run in, pay for it, and be on my way within a couple minutes. When I arrived there 15 minutes later, I paid for it and the lady went to the back to pick it up. And I stood there and waited. Finally 10 minutes later, she walks out with the bag with my order. She muttered the people in back hadn't put the order together yet (this was now about 20-25 minutes after I'd called it in), so she had to put the order together herself. For 2 slices of cheese cake?

Susan M.

Yelp
First stop in town. These coconut margaritas were so delicious and are now my new summer favorite. Perfect spot near the lake. The bartenders were super friendly and helpful with other locations for live music. Great bartender suggestion with getting 2 of these bagged to go

Katrice S.

Yelp
Best thing on the entire menu. Anytime I'm passing by mesquite pit I have to stop in to get armadillo eggs and literally sit in my car and inhale them.

Cheryl M.

Yelp
We just came from an 81st birthday lunch for my husband, and he just couldn't say enough to praise what a great experience it was. The atmosphere (enjoying a scenic view of the lake), the food (New York strip steak was perfect: tender, perfectly seasoned and flavored with mesquite and lean without any gristle and perfectly cooked by the chef) and the service ( a cute, spunky young lady named Kailey who kept us laughing with her banter) all left us beyond happy and satisfied. The glass of house Cabernet was only $5 (less than Pecan Plantation Clubhouse where we also pay dues!) and the breaded mushroom appetizer was huge , delicious, and only $8.99! The fun part of this is that my husband and I are both committed vegans for 16 years, but he comes from a long line of ranchers and must have his steak for his birthday. He was so happy and ecstatic that this rare occasion was so perfect.

Yelp
nice place -- boat docking too! Barbeque was good -- great place for keto! They make their own pork rinds! Friendly service. Lake views, and convenient to the highway if you're passing through.

Steve E.

Yelp
The food is ok but overpriced. The service was horrible including the girls at the front counter that would rather talk and laugh amongst themselves than deal with customers standing in front of them.

Laura P.

Yelp
TL/DR: RAW BACON served instead of bacon bits, no one noticed, and when it was brought to staff's attention, all they do is gaslight you. So - came here for dinner on the recommendation of a local. Service was awkward and weird but manageable. We know this is a small town. Watch out for the first red flag that o should have heeded: if you have a coupon for a free appetizer, they take your order for the appetizer but the waiter told us he would verify the coupon (we got it from the Granbury Visitor Center) to see if would be valid after our meal was over. No, validate my coupon first. If I can't use the coups, I don't want the app. Do they do it this way because they are losing money?? He verified the coupon. We ordered the appetizer, and our meals. I ordered the chicken fried steak special for $18.99. Server thought we were ordering the 2 CFS for $46! I thought he was just new, so I walked him up front and showed him the blackboard. My order came with 2 sides, I ordered fried okra and a loaded baked potato. My potato arrived without any toppings, so I asked for them. When they arrived: the bacon bits for my baked potato arrived at the table pink, slimy, cold -- why? Because they were RAW!!! They were sprinkled on the cheese and sour cream! Waiter said those bacon bits were cooked, when were pink and slimy. I am not stupid - I have been cooking for 5O years. That bacon is straight out of the package - totally raw and chopped. I wish I had had time to take a photo, but he took them straight back to the kitchen. Next the manager came and told me over and over that they only buy fully-cooked bacon. I am familiar with fully cooked bacon. I sometimes buy it myself! It's never light pink, slimy, and completely squishy. This is not fully- cooked bacon, no matter what she would have me believe. She did admit that the bacon bits for the baked potatoes are kept in the refrigerator - which is appropriate for raw meat. Dicing the raw bacon and putting it on a set of baked potato toppings is DISGUSTING and WRONG! Really not sure what the collective delusion is here - has no one here every transformed raw bacon into bacon bits? The manager also shared that this is how they have been serving bacon for 15 years, that the cook has been here for 15 years, and no one has ever complained. Ha ha ha - pull the other one. She also shared that the owner will not buy anything else and that the cook will never drop the bacon on the fryer, so if you want to take a chance, live dangerously, and eat raw bacon, I guess this is the place for you?? 1 star since I can't give 0. When in Granbury, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Yelp
Best food ever but as great as the food was the expensiveness matched. The price keeps going up and up. I ve never seen anything like it!

Heather I.

Yelp
This place should take bbq out of the name. Worst bbq I have ever had. The brisket was dry and flavorless. It actually comes served with bbq sauce on the meat, something I have never encountered on sliced brisket. I sent mine back, because I don't like sauce. When it was returned to me, the portion was half the size and they didn't even put the onions and pickles back. It was fine though because again it was terrible so I wouldn't have eaten it anyway. Cowboy beans had a great flavor, but hard from being undercooked. The only good thing we ate was the armadillo eggs. The restaurant has a nice view of the lake and the service is good. We didn't complain about the food just paid and left. Restaurant also has a surcharge for paying with credit or debit cards not mentioned until you pay.

Cari C.

Yelp
We ordered to go. My roommate spent a ton here.....all I can say is the mashed potatoes were good. Ribs, not so much.

Scott N.

Yelp
Waiter was really nice and prompt on drinks etc . The margaritas were not good and couldn't drink it as it tasted honestly like toilet water if you can imagine that . Waiter did however remove drink from ticket and asked if wanted anything else. We have had margaritas here in The past and they were really good but not sure what happened this time. Ribs were dry and not much meat and we didn't get rolls like suppose to but that's ok really didn't need them . Coleslaw was really good fish was good and back. Wrapped shrimp good oh yea the beer was cold and good .

Yelp
First time here and it was an awesome experience!!! My daughter & family live in Granbury yet this is the first time they've brought me here. I will say everything was excellent, we started with the chips & queso, exactly what I was looking for in a starter. Chips that won't break off in the queso or salsa! I swear I couldn't stop, the smoky flavor of the salsa had me going back for more Now comes the hard part what to choose, everything looked fabulous but I could only choose one. Upon my daughters recommendation I had the Smokehouse Cheddar Burger with onion rings as my side. Fantastic - the combination of the brisket & hamburg was righteous! My daughter chose the Chicken Quesadilla's - another hit. My grandson's had the Chicken Tenders & Fries. My SIL had the same burger as I but he had a special request of no cheese and add bacon. Yikes it got messed up! I'll be back visiting in a month so I get to try something new. My daughter is only telling me this now because my grandsons like the chicken tenders & fries. I can't argue with that. In the mean time I took pics of the menu so I'm prepared for the next visit! Our server David was spot on and gracious even when the kitchen made a mistake on our order. Obviously he doesn't cook yet he took responsibility for the mistake even though he took the order correctly. I missed dessert so next time I'll be ready to try one of the desserts out. We did manage to squeeze in a drink - the Coconut Margarita. Very tasty!

Yelp
Mesquite Pit is a beautiful place to go out for lunch and or dinner...Very relaxing and the food is delicious! The service is great as well. Sign up for their points/perks!!! It's so worth it y'all

Jack S.

Yelp
I'm becoming more and more disappointed with Mesquite Pit in Granbury. While we've enjoyed their menu in the past, I've ordered a steak (New York Strip and Ribeye) on several occasions and both have been what I'd consider a good bit under par. On my most recent visit I ordered a New York Strip. What I got was a large, thick chuck of meat, not what I would expect of a New York Strip. While it was cooked as I asked, it was tough and chewy. I've had their catfish on several occasions and it's fine but it's not a place to go for a steak in my opinion.

George G.

Yelp
I am on a Burger Adventure this year. My first stop is Mesquite Pit on the Lake here in Granbury. I had the Smokehouse Burger. Very flavorful and at a decent price. Worth trying.

M L.

Yelp
Called in an order online and prepaid. They said it would be ready at 6:25. Arrived at 6:25 and the order had not been placed. Had to wait an additional 30 minutes. "The thing does not tell us when an order comes in" was their response

Ashlea B.

Yelp
I eat here all the time. They have great steaks. It's our go to place to eat here in Granbury. When it's nice out sitting by the lake is perfect!

Kathy B.

Yelp
I was there in early Oct 2023 and the service (shoutout to Austin!) and food were both excellent! Our group of six had catfish and sliced brisket, yummy! We will definitely be back!

Shirley G.

Yelp
Absolutely excellent catfish and onion ring basket. Fresh dipped (not out of the freezer) which goes for the onion rings too. Excellent, attentive service and very good ambiance. Will definitely go there again. Heard the BBQ is fab too.

Deeayne T.

Yelp
Food is ok but all the extra charges they don't tell you about is crazy They charge for refills !! BBQ sauce is not that good and 14 dollars for the smallest margarita in town Will never come back here

Melanie B.

Yelp
The bacon wrapped shrimp was fantastic. Service was good. Negatives- brisket was super dry not edible, the boat dock had large quantities of poop on it. We let them know hoping they would sweep it before we had to load back up. It did not happen. Well not plan on going back. Tried it because Rockin's S was closed.

Nathan C.

Yelp
Monday night dinner with a family of 5. We ordered fried pickles, a seafood sampler, sliced brisket, chopped brisket sandwich. Grilled shrimp and bacon wrapped shrimp were nicely flavored over wood fired grill. Fried shrimp were pretty bland and didn't even finish them. My son enjoyed the chopped brisket sandwich. Good portion size and nicely flavored. Sliced brisket was very dry and really disappointing. Shocking for a claimed pit bbq restaurant. Would have expected this to be a signature dish. Patio seating outside with the Lakeview was great and wait staff very friendly.

Kendall H.

Yelp
Nice spot on the lake for home cooked food! I loved the fried catfish, but my grilled shrimp was not good - very tough consistency. We got fried bacon, onion rings, and fried pickles as appetizers, and they were all great! Based on what we ordered, stick to something fried, and it will be good!

Wayne R.

Yelp
Had a hankering for a grilled steak. Almost Christmas and I hadn't had one since home grilling in summer. The Pit still has it. I had a New York Strip and it was excellent. Cooked just as ordered, medium rare. Seated at the bar where I could watch football and enjoy a cold beer with my steak. All in all, a great dinner and a shout-out to the bartender who supplied attentive service.

Amanda B.

Yelp
Charges $37 dollars for a 1/3 full of to-go margaritas in a half gallon milk jug. Didn't even make two full margaritas for two people. Called and complained and all they said was "add ice and it will be full" Screw that. And MP.

Gene G.

Yelp
My wife and I always enjoy Mesquite Pit. We visit the Granbury location a couple times a month minimum. Food and service are always good. Highly recommend this location.

Janet C.

Yelp
Mesquite Pit has great food and servers. Promptly greeted and order taken. Food was great and served hot. Our server checked on us a couple of times. Served barbecue, steaks, seafood and sandwiches. Pricing is reasonable.

Krystal P.

Yelp
Living in Granbury we have few choices. Ask to sit in Emilie section. She is the best server they have! You will kit be disappointed in the view or the food. You have picked the best place in Granbury.

Christy M.

Yelp
The mesquite pit in Weatherford is better with this one has good food but the service wasn't that great and I've ordered doordash there a couple times and my order has been messed up

Linde W.

Yelp
Excellent food. Good service. Nice atmosphere. We enjoyed the Salmon and Pork Chop dinners.

Kierston L.

Yelp
Very disappointed in management. Manager was extremely rude and made us uncomfortable by standing and staring at our party after telling us we were laughing too loud. We eventually decided to leave as she even rallied wait staff to make us feel unwelcome in the establishment. Sad part is we were having a good time and planning to Come back for dinner. So disappointed as I have been here many times before and never have felt more threatened and attacked in my life

David R.

Yelp
Maybe we caught this place on a bad day but a group of us visited based on its high rankings. The food was terrible. We were served grey colored brisket that tasted tainted (the mgr. agreed). It was inedible. The ribs were "okay" but they were sauced and the BBQ sauce was just not good. The waitress was nice but missed three different requests and then asked us a few times if we wanted a doggie bag for our uneaten, grey meat that had just served as the basis for the manager's tableside chat. Perhaps we should have taken it to a lab for further analysis! The location and atmosphere were great but I could never go back after tasting that brisket.

Kristin P.

Yelp
We wanted to love this place. Drove by and said they had the best margaritas in Hood County, so we decided to stop in. We sat outside on the patio with our party of 10, and the views were beautiful. That was honestly my favorite thing about this place ... the 2 stars are for the views. The margaritas had a good flavor but unsure of how much alcohol was really in them. We started with the armadillo eggs and the Texas Toothpicks. The armadillo eggs were OK, the had a good flavor and everyone enjoyed them. The Texas toothpicks tasted like batter only, the menu doesn't give a description of what they are, and if we hadn't of asked we probably wouldn't have know it was onions and jalapeños. I ordered the BBQ plate with sausage and a baked potato ... The baked potato was great and that is about all I have to say about the meal. Three others at our table ordered the 1in ribeye and had to use A1 sauce to eat it ... none finished their food. The kids meals were also disappointing ... the chicken fingers were hard which made them almost inedible, my son didn't enjoy the batter on the shrimp so he took the batter off and ate the shrimp only. Additionally, the menus at the restaurant were clearly old and kind of gross to handle. If you go, I would recommend sticking with beers and appetizers ... sit on the patio, the view is great!

Nathan A.

Yelp
It was great food with awesome service. Awesome location and view of the lake when eating on the balcony

Kristi K.

Yelp
Was bad. Been here before and it was okay prior. Recommend the drinks. The service is SLOW. The hood is not great. Go somewhere else. Not worth it.

Scott D.

Yelp
Just tried their Smokehouse cheeseburger. I was expecting "just another burger", but was ecstatic it wasn't. Their mixture of brisket with chuck made for a much more flavorful burger. It's a new favorite!

Vicki B.

Yelp
Lake view is beautiful! Service was awesome and fast. Justin was attentive and amazing! We ordered the filet and New York Strip with the vegetable skewers. Delicious! Steak was flavorful and tender!

Jimmie H.

Yelp
Great steaks and fantastic views of the lake. We love riding up in our boat. The service is impeccable. Perfect for a date night.

Nancy M.

Yelp
We grabbed lunch here before a concert at the Granbury Theatre down the street. There were six of us and we had a nice roomy table close to a window for a nice lake view. They have a cute patio too! Nice waiter who knew the menu (nice when they have tried the food and can make suggestions or speak to more popular items) and took wonderful care of our group. Big beers, tasty prickly pear lemonade (not too sweet) and our table filled up with ham and bean soup (housemade, not off of a Sysco truck), chicken fried steak, bbq, grilled chicken sandwich, more bbq and huge salads - one with steak (mine, with avo ranch) and one with chicken. Salads are easily 2 meals! Dessert was shared at the table: banana pudding (THICK and housemade), peach cobbler (housemade) and chocolate pie. We left full and happy - would def go back!

Monte P.

Yelp
Seated quickly. Waitress was excellent and attentive. I had BBQ, sausage and pork ribs. It was very good. The beans were great. Atmosphere was very nice. Patio looked inviting but it was a little cool, so seated inside. It is worth your time. I would recommend it.

Cindy C.

Yelp
I was dining in your restaurant last Friday evening, service was ok but when our food arrived was extremely disappointing. Two of us had ordered fried catfish and grilled shrimp. Catfish was fair but the grilled shrimp were the size of canned or bait shrimp cooked way to long and we're extremely tough.

Diane P.

Yelp
Ordered two "meal sized" salads to-go --- reminder of why we rarely we eat here. $27.91 and what a waste of money. I had shrimp on mine and there were about 10 microscopic sized ones. So disappointing . Have photos but they are apparently too large to load ... but trust me .. skimpy and far from a meal.

Rich O.

Yelp
Highly recommended Granbury Mesquite Pit, great service and food! I believe with its waterfront location some outdoor hanging lights, expand seating into grassy areas, live bands on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights would be great and invest in a Modern Jukebox system such as Touch Tunes and they will be over the top!

Mike M.

Yelp
We had visited the Mesquite Pit BBQ in Mineral Wells, so we just assumed this was the same. I'm pretty sure it's not, but just want to clarify for anyone else making the same assumption that the menus (at least) are different. We were seated immediately after being told that it would be a 15 minute wait. That's on a Saturday night. You can't find fault in that. They strongly advertise their margaritas as being the best. They're not, but they're not bad. We ordered the 3/4" ribeye and the grilled catfish. My wife says the catfish was good and the steak wasn't bad. It had decent flavor and was a nice size. It's a ribeye, so it's going to have a little extra fat. It was underdone, but it's a relatively thin steak and not always easy to get right. They had a great menu. Service was more than adequate. We'll be back.

Alan L.

Yelp
Service was great. Our server was wonderful, but my fries with my old fashioned Burger were stale and at roomtempature.

Shauna W.

Yelp
Food is delicious. They have a good selection. Portions are very big. Service is good. Nice atmosphere - casual.

Ashten S.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst service we've ever received at a restaurant. Was seated by the hostess and sat at our table for 20 minutes with multiple waiters passing us not once asking if we needed anything or order. Finally got up and left

Jordan R.

Yelp
Their margaritas are definitely delicious, Austin was our awesome server reminding us of the pitcher margaritas which saves some money. He is the best server we have had. Cannot wait to see him again

Dorie R.

Yelp
Some of the worst service ever!!!! Arrived about 2:30 in the afternoon (not peak hour for dining)! The bar had dirty plates & glasses from one end to the other. We looked around & decided if we wanted to sit at the bar, clear it off ourselves so I did & sat it on a table behind us. The young lady that appeared to be management (assuming since she wasn't wearing black Mesquite shirt) was standing around doing NOTHING. Another couple came up to the bar & she did clear off 2 spots & wiped it down & left the rest of the bar full of dirty dishes. The bartender was young blonde & had an ATTITUDE. She looked pissed off the whole time we sat there. Even the couple next to me commented she appears to hate her job!! Not the personality that makes it inviting to sit at the bar again......maybe she should be in the back washing dishes where she doesn't have to deal with the public! We've visited Granbury in the past & everything was great & we just moved to this area so came in based on past experience but not sure we'll be back!! VERY young staff & most of them stood around when it was obvious things needed to be done.
