Just north of (but technically still in) the Cargo District, the new Mess Hall still serves up some of the same burgers that made it famous when it first opened in the space that now houses Beat Street Street Food. I recently checked out Mess Hall ILM in Wilmington, NC, and it definitely lives up to the buzz. The space is very nice and clean, with a modern industrial look that gives it a cool, laid back vibe. It is the kind of place that feels perfect to hang out with friends for a while rather than just grabbing food and leaving. The service was very quick, and everything came out hot and fresh without much of a wait. Now let’s talk about the food. The burger is easily the best in ILM, juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Paired with their tater tots, which are crispy and perfectly seasoned, it is a simple combo done extremely well. It is a little pricey for just a burger and tots, but the quality and overall experience make it worth it if you are in the mood for one of the best in town. One thing to note is that it can get a bit loud, mainly because of the high ceilings and metal walls that echo sound around the space. Overall, Mess Hall ILM is a great spot with amazing burgers, fast service, and a cool atmosphere. If you are in Wilmington and craving a top tier burger, this is the place to go.

This has been on my list of places to check out for monthes and I finally got a free night so I was excited to try! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and community of this restaurant! The food was super good and I loved it! I'm vegan and I got their tator tots bowl and it was AMAZING! They have like some super secret vegan sauce they add to the dish that really takes it to the next level! I love how they can cater to different diets! It looks like they had other options to try as well and I can't wait to come back and get to taste them again! They're apparently known for their tots and I can see why! They're fried perfectly and so crispy!!! I loved every bite! I brought mine home and reheated as well and it tasted just as good! Definitely would check out if you're stopping by Wilmington!

Great burgers 🍔, super delicious 😋. We ordered two meals 🍽️, which come with a Burger and Tater Tots 🍟. When you get there, you order at the counter and then go to your seat until your number is called 👍. Plenty of seating inside and outside 😊. Free Parking Lot also 🅿️. Easy to get in and out 👍. This is downtown but easy location to find 📍. Each meal we ordered (without a drink) was $15, bring our total for two meals around $30 + Tax.

First time at this cool little spot! I ordered the Samdawg - a funky little concoction that was an unexpected combination and a happy surprise! The flavor blend was excellent. My husband got a burger with Cheer wine chili - he loved it too. There are no fries, but each order is served with tater tots and they were perfectly crispy. I loved the atmosphere, prices and friendly staff also. We will be back!

Food was good. Good service comes with a smile, the young guy behind the counter has yet to adopt that attitude so far though. It makes sense most of the breakfast orders were online to-go orders, those customers barely had to interact with him. This place is missing revenue by not training their staff

Great old fashioned burgers 🍔 and tater tots. My son and I had a couple of their “old fashioned” burgers last night when we were at The Rift which is right next door. Huge, very tasty and juicy burgers. Delicious and would recommend the Mess Hall to anyone going to The Rift and looking for something other than their pizza or nachos. I look forward to sampling for of the menu the next time I visit.
