"Mess Hall has returned, this time in a new space just a few short blocks east of its original Cargo District location. The Port City’s most iconic burger joint still serves up some of the offerings that made it so well-known in the first place, like the signature Samburger (cheddar, bacon, onion straws, caramelized onions, and “Mess Sauce”) and the McWhat (a play on a certain burger chain’s famous menu item). Just north of (but technically still in) the Cargo District, the new Mess Hall still serves up some of the same burgers that made it famous when it first opened in the space that now houses Beat Street Street Food. Opt for the classic Sam burger or the McWhat? (a play on that famous burger chain’s most popular burger), or try one of the specials. Messhall is a nice place for lunch or a quick dinner with delicious food and great service. I got the BLT and the Oreo milkshake which were both superb and relatively well priced. Together they were 20 bucks and a little over my price range, but the atmosphere was good.

So good! Came near closing for my first visit, so not too crowded and fast service. My Old Fashioned was big, hot, juicy and delicious. Nice portion of crispy hot tots was the icing on the cake. Wish they had better ketchup than those silly little packets though. 10/10, will come back for sure.

The burger is juicy and tasty. The special sauce is very good as well. I loved that all the condiments and extras actually stayed in the burger. Be prepared for a wait of about 25 minutes. Don’t go there starving like me. Oh and the tater tots come on the side. The price for the burger and tots was about 14 dollars

I have heard so many positive reviews of mess hall that I had to try it. While the Sam burger was fine, I was not overly impressed, and at their price point, I was hoping for either better food or service. While I would eat here again, it would not be my first choice for a burger.

Really enjoyed my first time coming here. It was very busy when I arrived. Took a while to get my food. The food was great, but I felt like it was overrated. It was like a hipster place to get a good burger. There are better places to get a burger and beer like HangTen on pleasure island, but the atmosphere was great, and the sauce they put on the burger was very yummy. I would totally order again. Get more sauce on the side. You'll thank me later. Thay staff were amazing.

Just want to say thank you to the ladies and gentlemen that work here for allowing me to be able to have the October burger… On November 1!✌🏻☺️ through some trials and tribulations, I wasn’t able to get the burger by the end of the month yesterday, and they made sure to save/make me one so I could have one! I get the special once or twice a month every month, and they helped me keep up that have it for me! This is by far the best burger place ever, because it includes tater tots! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The smash vegan but was great, tater tots fried to near perfection. I was so hungry I starting eating before I took a picture of the meal. The absolute star of the meal was an “off menu” banana pudding shake. Absolutely amazing balance of crunch, creamy texture and the pudding/ice cream ratio was just right. Staff has the ability to degrade the overall experience. There was one person at the register who was an absolute rock star, running food, taking orders, and delivering drinks. Two other, seemed to be meandering, lazily about the crowded establishment disinterested in create pleasure expo for guest. The bartender was the worst. He was so engulfed in a conversation with a young lady he seemed to be irritated by being asked to remedy his own mistakes caused by his inattentiveness to orders placed. It was as though the orders inconvenienced and interrupted his conversation. It showed in his response to being respectfully asked to make things right.
