Where to Drink Margaritas in Charleston This Spring | Eater

"Mesu is the embodiment of chaotic good: This fusion joint plastered with pop-art wall hangings offers a more-the-merrier amalgamation of Mexican cuisine and sushi. This includes a menu full of sushi rolls (staff favorites being the Hawaii 5-0 and Red Zone), and a generous handful of Mexican-style bites like street-corn skewers and barbacoa tacos. The Palmetto Peacharita is a fusion too, creatively blending tequila with a sparkling sake floater. Undoubtedly an ideal spot for casual group hangs and even some late-night dancing, Mesu playfully offers a little bit of everything." - Kayleigh Ruller

All the Charleston Restaurant Openings, Fall 2019 | Eater Carolinas

"On Upper King, Mesu is split into a Mexican side and a sushi side, with dishes like carnitas nachos, chicken wing tacos, corn covered in ranch and cotija, a dunk confit spring roll, a tuna poke tower, and a lobster ragoon roll—the miso honey glaze on the boneless wings appears in the tacos and carnitas shows up in the shoyu pork roll." - Erin Perkins

Mexican/Sushi Restaurant Mesu Almost Unleashed on King Street | Eater Carolinas

"Opening this summer at 570 King Street, this new concept combines Mexican fare and sushi and is currently hiring servers, bartenders, cooks, and an assistant manager; signage is up and the opening is being teased on Facebook and Instagram. The developer, Republic Development and Management Group (RDMG), is marketing the spot for its high-energy atmosphere and the blending of food, art, and social engagement rather than focusing solely on the menu: diners are promised sushi and Mexican dishes served alongside original prints and artworks by well-known artists such as Alec Monopoly, Jeff Koons, Kaws, Hush, and Vhils. This is RDMG’s latest Upper King concept following Bourbon n’ Bubbles, with a third project on the block planned as a “premium sports pub” called 1st Place." - Erin Perkins
