Where to Drink Margaritas in Charleston This Spring | Eater

"Mesu is the embodiment of chaotic good: This fusion joint plastered with pop-art wall hangings offers a more-the-merrier amalgamation of Mexican cuisine and sushi. This includes a menu full of sushi rolls (staff favorites being the Hawaii 5-0 and Red Zone), and a generous handful of Mexican-style bites like street-corn skewers and barbacoa tacos. The Palmetto Peacharita is a fusion too, creatively blending tequila with a sparkling sake floater. Undoubtedly an ideal spot for casual group hangs and even some late-night dancing, Mesu playfully offers a little bit of everything." - Kayleigh Ruller

All the Charleston Restaurant Openings, Fall 2019 - Eater Carolinas

"Bar/restaurant Mesu is split into a Mexican side and a sushi side. There’s carnitas nachos, chicken wing tacos, corn covered in ranch and cotija, a dunk confit spring roll, a tuna poke tower, a lobster ragoon roll, and more. The only crossovers seem to be the miso honey glaze on the boneless wings used in the tacos and the carnitas in the shoyu pork roll." - Erin Perkins

Interesting concept being a Mexican sushi spot! The rolls were good, but overall a bit on the pricey side. We didn’t have a reservation but got seated at the bar which was fine. We were attended to regularly and the food was good and very filling! It’s a fun vibe inside and was perfect for our girls night.

Google
The bao bun was excellent. However, not a fan of the Lafayette roll. My family got the Baja fish tacos and the dynamite roll. The Baja tacos had little flavor for $7 per taco. The dynamite roll was decent, however it was only 6 sushi rolls for $18. The chairs were dirty. Overall, the server was decent but I'm afraid everything was overrated and overpriced for the quality.

Had the best experience at Mesu this past week! This was only my second time going in the 4 years I've lived in Charleston but after this experience, I will definitely be coming back on a more regular basis! Some menu call outs... - Pork Belly Bao Bun - Holy City Tiradito - Patriots Point roll & Dynamite roll - Lychee Martini + Tequila Espresso Martini were both sooo good — best tequila espresso martini I've found in and out of Charleston! - Both of their N/A mocktail options were delicious and high-quality The staff was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and the playlist was fire. CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK AGAIN SOON!

This place has great food, service was wonderful, the place has a fun vibe to it. We had tacos and sushi. And the churros were the perfect ending. Definitely recommend it. Will be taking my family when they visit.

Google
Atmosphere is cute, but nothing crazy special given all the other vibey places in the area-that being said the food and drinks were 100/10. The drinks were top notch-strong but not too much, nothing was nauseatingly sweet, and great options. The food was AMAZING. We ordered some Mexican style dishes and a few sushi rolls to share just so we could try everything. Everything was fresh, arrived quick, unique flavor profiles. SO SO good-would definitely recommend and will def be back if we have time!

I came here for my 21st birthday dinner and luckily got a reservation the day of for 11 people. Every single person said they had the best food, the queso and those chips were my personal favorites. I also customized a sushi roll and it was to die for. Also for my drink I got the lychee-tini which is the best drink I have ever had and I will be trying to make it at home. One of the nights in charleston we went back there around 12:30 AM and got more lychee-tini’s since we loved them so much, got a free blowjob shot and a nice group of people bought us shotski’s. The bartender played the best songs ever and made my 21st birthday weekend incredible, we can’t wait to come back!!!

Google
This place was phenomenal and I would highly recommend it. The food was fantastic and the service was great. The staff were all very friendly and the restaurant was clean. Besides what’s pictured we also had the chips and queso (DEVINE) and Strawberry Margaritas which tasted like candy- very dangerous LOL!!! What a great experience and can’t wait to go back!!! I’ll be dreaming of that clothespin taco until then! THANK YOU MESU!!!!

Google
Stopped in yesterday evening to pick up some food for take out and decided to get some drinks from the bar while waiting. The bartender working was very kind and gave us great recommendations from not only their menu, but she also took the time to recommend a lot of other great places/things to do while we are visiting Charleston! A very welcoming, fun atmosphere and the food was absolutely excellent!!! We had a couple of tacos to share as well as a few appetizers and everything was amazing- I'm still thinking about the barbacoa braised beef and the buffalo chicken tacos (thank you for the extra blue!)

Yelp
Cute, casual restaurant with funny staff & great vibes! Such filling tacos. $7-8 for one taco definitely seems like a lot but these tacos are STUFFED with good things. Worth the price for sure!

Yelp
I think I need to give this place another shot. I was super unimpressed with the food but it has such great ratings. The meat in the tacos was super dry and bland. The bun bao were good and I'd definitely order them again. Dessert tasted like a grocery store frozen cake. I'll go back and update my review because again, everyone seems to love them place.

Yelp
I'll preface my review by saying I definitely would come back and try this again. Maybe I just didn't order the right things. I was super excited to try this spot because it's a mix of my favorite things - Mexican and sushi! The queso was very good but I didn't love the seasoning on the chips, it was a bit overpowering. The fried pickles were delish! I ordered a smoked chicken taco - there was a ton of slaw on it, like way too much, and the chicken flavor was good but SO rich that I couldn't finish it. I ordered a shrimp tempura roll and it was very good but was missing cucumber. My friend also got the same roll and hers had cucumber in it. A mistake for sure but I was disappointed. However the atmosphere and service of this spot is awesome! They were able to accommodate a large group of 12 and was fast and friendly. Like I mentioned before, I would definitely try this place again but would order different things.

Yelp
I really enjoyed every bite of my dinner at MESU. It was my birthday weekend, and we opted to do a night on King Street. MESU had reservations left, so we booked it but ended up opting to sit at the bar instead...as close as possible to the front door since it was FRIGID inside. Like we would've stayed longer and bought more food if we weren't both shivering. My friend mentioned the special occasion, and they gave a blow job shot (lol) and had me bang the gong. Cute little touch. We split the dip trio and opted for the avocado salsa, which was delightful. I also had the clothespin pork taco, and goooodness. It was tasty! For drinks, I had a nice glass of Rose and my friend had a beer. Service was great, prices were reasonable, and really other than the temperature, we loved our visit.

Yelp
Came here on a bachelorette trip and we had the best time! We sat at this amazing 12 top table and I could see every person in our group, it was such a great seating arrangement! The staff was so friendly and accommodating and they brought out a sparkler and shot to make our bride feel special. I got sushi and it was great! Margaritas were delicious too! I loved all the art on the wall, it was so fun inside. The manager was especially nice and helped us get into a bar nearby with a long wait. Definitely come check this place out for some sushi Mexican fusion!

Yelp
Super fun place with a great vibe. Always recommended this place to friends who visit from out of town. Their menu for sushi is constantly changing so there's always something new and unique to try whenever I go.

Yelp
We had a great meal at Mesu tonight. When Yelp helped us find this restaurant, we thought 'this is our perfect restaurant...sushi Mexican fusion, two of our favorite things'. And it was...We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner tonight. Loren was our server. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Warner was our bartender, she pushed me to try an anejo Old Fashion. She convinced me that a whiskey drinker would love this drink. She was right. We ordered another anejo old fashioned after the first. Food: oh Boy, did we eat. We started with the tempura shrimp taco(4/5) and a 'clothespin' crispy pork taco (4/5). Both were good. We then moved on to sushi rolls. We had the Taurus, hamachi tale, and the Mesu. They were all excellent (5/5), but our favorite was the Taurus with spicy tuna, jalapeño, coconut shrimp and cream cheese. The combination was absolutely ingenious. Dessert? Oh Man! The absolute best way to finish a meal...fresh made churros with caramel sauce (5/5). Two hot, crispy, and thick 8" long churros were absolutely amazing. We really enjoyed our meal. The only reason I didn't score it higher was the restaurant's ambiance. The decor, furnishings, and service is more fast casual and could have been more upscale. This ambiance didn't resonate with us... but don't miss out on giving this restaurant a try. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Half of us wanted sushi and half wanted Mexican and we googled options and found this place last minute. Unfortunately it was extremely underwhelming. Saw that it was a 4.6! The ONLY thing that made our experience better was our server Sidney. The nachos were decent of all the things we tried. The bao bun was so disappointing, why did you deep fry the bao bun? It's meant to be steamed, soft and fluffy. When I bit into it, oil just seeped into my mouth and I literally didn't finish it. My husband tried one of the tacos and again, so oily and left a puddle of grease on the plate. The sushi ... you can just tell when it doesn't taste fresh. Maybe it "was" fresh but kept for too long? Idk For almost a $200 tab we left unsatisfied. It's VERY rare that my husband and I don't finish our food, but we did not enjoy most of it. Like I mentioned before, our server was attentive, friendly and nice. We did not make any complaints to her, we paid for everything but I would just hope that the feedback we gave is helpful. Please don't deep fry the bao bun!!

Yelp
Mesu is such a unique and unexpected fusion of Mexican and Japanese cuisine, but it works! I had the Barbacoa Braised Beef Taco and the Dynamite Sushi Roll, both of which were packed with flavor. The taco could've used just a bit more salt but it was very tender. The sushi roll had a nice kick of spice, so be ready for a little heat! The atmosphere is fast-paced and lively, with great music that will have you singing along all night. Plus, if you're a sports fan, there are TVs ready to go. Overall, a super fun spot with great food and energy.

Yelp
I thought this place was good! We started off with the chip trio and got queso, guac and red salsa. I didnt love that the chips had seasoning all over it but the queso was really good. We got a few rolls to taste test. I didnt LOVE any of them... I felt like they were missing something? The waygu taco was pretty fire though

Yelp
I ordered food to go from Mesu, and was not disappointed in the food. My favorite thing I tried was the Tsunami sushi roll, which included tempura shrimp, salmon, avocado, eel sauce, and pickled onions. The salmon tasted fresh, the tempura was still nice and crispy, and the pickled onions added the bit of acidity needed to bring the whole roll together. It was my daughter's favorite as well. I ordered the Barbacoa Braised Beef, which included peppers, onions, salsa, and cotija cheese. The beef had good flavor - just the right amount of spiciness for me, and pretty tender and juicy. The toppings were plentiful as well. I also tried the Baja Fish Taco, which was grilled fish with salsa and purple cabbage slaw. The slaw was a bit excessive and overpowered much of the taco, and the fish a little dry. While the food was pretty good, and I like the concept of mixing Mexican with Sushi, the price point is steep. I get that it's on one of the busiest streets in Charleston, but even so, $7-9 for one taco and $20+ for a sushi roll seems a bit excessive. They had my order ready in a timely manner, allowing me to wait at the bar with a cup of water while I waited. The space seemed nice and clean as well, with a good amount of seating and plenty of bar seating.

Yelp
Such a nice dining experience. We started out with the chips, salsa, and cheese dip and it was so good. The chips had a really yummy seasoning (their house seasoning the server said). For my meal I had the fish and shrimp tacos and they were both so yummy. My fiance had the barbacoa tacos and he loved it as well. For dessert we had the turtle cheesecake, which was good, I mean it's cheese cake.

Yelp
Mesu was right beside our hotel, actually part of the building, so easy walk if you are staying at the Hyatt, Historic District off King Street. I did not see any parking but that doesn't mean there wasn't any down the block. This is a Mexican/Sushi restaurant. We were intrigued. The menu was pretty straightforward with interesting sushi creations. I had the jerk wings and the Hamachi Tale sushi roll. The Wing portion was plentiful. The flavor was good, but was hoping for more of a kick. The skin was flabby/soft so I thought the wings were baked, but the waitress said they were fried so the sauce really took away any crispiness. The sushi roll was decent. Service was standard. Overall a solid experience.
google avatar

Cherie T.

Yelp
Mexican and sushi... who would have thought it should be in the same building?!? I do now! Wonderful!

Yelp
Great service and good food. The waitress was amazing and never let our water go empty. It was my birthday and they celebrated in the best way at the end of our dinner. You have to come out and experience for yourself, I won't ruin the surprise!!! Don't go by some of the reviews, experience it for yourself. From our interaction with the hosts when we walked in the door, customer service was 10/10. Food was 10/10. Rainbow sushi roll and the smash burger taco was FANTASTIC!!!

Yelp
Update: It's been a while since I was in MESU... (Disclosure.. My daughter now works here) We just went in for a drink at the bar prior to dinner. The bar is long & spacious. A perfect spot to sit & relax. The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable about the drinks. The place has a great vibe with lots of tables busy with big groups of people celebrating various events. MESU appears to be a great venue for this & still it didn't feel overcrowded.

Yelp
Unique artistic vibes and fun music as soon as you walk inside. We had a reservation for party of 8 and were quickly seated at a table tucked into the back corner. It's best to come downtown after 6pm since that's when you don't have to pay for we're street parking. Wait staff was very considerate and asked if anyone in our party had any allergies. If you're thinking of checking out this downtown spot, I highly recommend on a Tuesday before 7pm for their $10 Tuesday menu! We did nachos and the 2 tacos off that menu as well as shrimp roll. Barbacoa Braised Beef Nachos [4 stars] The melted Gouda cheese was yummy and not too heavy. There were some yummy sautéed onions. The barbacoa was the star of the show. Perfectly flavored, not too much but not too little. And cooked just right, very tender and juicy. It was nice that it came with a side of guac. The dish was just missing more sautéed peppers and it needed a salsa so I had to ask the wait staff when they dropped off the plate for some pico de gallo or salsa (which they seemed confused by my ask). 2 Tacos [3.5 stars] Surprisingly do not order the crispy chicken. We had to tell our waiter that 2 people in our party could not finish it and asked to change it out for the smoked chicken which was so much better. Shrimp roll [2 stars] Wouldn't order again. The wasabi did not smell fresh. The roll was pretty dull and wouldn't suggest. We couldn't finish eating all of it. Pretty unfortunate that our table was charged a 25% gratuity for a large party. Pretty high rate. More familiar with 18-20% group gratuity rate. Overall I think the $10 menu probably saved our experience because I don't think the typical price would have matched what we got out the whole night.

Hananh L.

Yelp
I would be cautious if you're a group over six as there is an automatic 25% tip included. There is also a surcharge for credit card. A dinner of 8 cost us over $500 when 1/2 the table was not consuming alcohol. This was due to the outrageous auto gratuity and credit card surcharge. The food is incredibly mediocre so beware!!! If you make a reservation, it's $20 a person to cancel....

Yelp
I'm in love. Pull me away and I may always look back wondering why I ever doubted a Mexican Sushi restaurant. I am fairly certain I openly scoffed at such concepts before but I am drifting into food bliss and may never return. One thing about Charleston is by and large the food is delicious but there is delicious and there's this. I walked past Mesu pausing to notice the bright colors with the slightly industrial look. I felt an art vibe and was drawn in to sit at the bar. Ally, bartender extraordinaire, was brilliant. Here's the thing - I am here on business travel. For ten hours all I did was think, think, talk, talk and it gets exhausting. To sit at a bar and have someone say this is the best drink and the best rolls with such confidence that it was indisputable truth? Oh hell yea. I ordered Ally's recommendations and I was so very happy with them! The Barbacoa beef taco was brilliant. Tender beef, bright cheese, good texture. The Hamachi Tale was a great balance, flavorful, great texture, brilliant. The oyster shooter was among the best I have ever had. The cocktails in their cute Patron glasses were amazing. They were light, smooth, and perhaps too easy to drink. I couldn't want for more. It was a delight. I regretfully left because work called but I am glad to have stopped in here.
google avatar

Tiffani W.

Yelp
Such a good vibe. They played different types of music. The Tsunami sushi roll was delicious. And the house margarita was great.

Audra A.

Yelp
While the food was good, the service and management attitude was not. First - a sushi roll we ordered did not have all the ingredients on the menu (it came out with shrimp in it, but that was not on the menu for ingredients) and we were told "oh yeah, that's the right roll, we just forgot to put shrimp on the menu". Luckily, no one had a serious shellfish allergy. Second - the credit card processing fee is misleading. Even though we paid with a debit card, we were still charged a "service fee" and were told "any card" will get this fee when questioning it. On top of a 25% mandatory gratuity, it felt like we overpaid for what we actually got here.
google avatar

Scher S.

Yelp
I'm just going to go ahead & give them 5 stars!! This place is such a vibe and I can't wait to return to try the rest of the tacos & sushi I didn't get to try!! The cocktails were fabulous and the service was excellent!! My favorite was the A5 Wagyu Philly taco, it will change your life!!
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Great food, great prices, great drinks. I visited from Texas and found this establishment on yelp. I had to give it a try and I wasn't disappointed. Took my mom and it was low key and a great vibe. Several happy hour cocktails and food items to choose from. Big portions and very hospitable hostess and servers. Fish tacos and sushi were excellent selections. The margarita was flavorful and had a small kick to it. If your in the area give it a try and have yourself an enjoyable day.
google avatar

William T.

Yelp
I had a both a Tuna Roll and some tacos. Both were excellent. The beer list is lacking but the bartender recommended a drink off the special list that was outstanding.
google avatar

Krista R.

Yelp
This place was popping and had a good vibe. The good music and decor, the menu was my favorite. My two favorite foods are Mexican food and sushi and I got the best of both worlds that night. I love that you can make your own margarita options for drinks they offer sake too. Service was great, the food was absolutely amazing. The chips were soooooooo good too. Whatever seasoning was on them was perfect. The salsa was also delicious and the queso was freaking good. If I go back to Charleston I would def put this on my list bc it satisfied both my favorite food craving. The lobster roll was exactly what I'm was looking for. I thought one of the cuisines would out shine the other but they killed it at both perfectly. Thanks Leva and Lamar for nailing this menu!

Melanie B.

Yelp
This entire experience was awesome. We made reservations on a Friday night and they event sat us early. We enjoyed sushi as appetizers and then tacos for dinner. The drinks and service were phenomenal. Ambiance was 10/10 and location is around a bunch of bars for after dinner drinks. If you love sushi, come here!

Tori H.

Yelp
The vibe in the restaurant was fun with fun music- there were two bachelorette parties so it was loud and rowdy. The food was very tasty! The queso was great and we really enjoyed the lobster ragoon roll. Would come back!

Blake H.

Yelp
Got two rolls of sushi and a few drinks and it was outrageously expensive for mediocre food at best. Plenty of better options in the area.

Macy W.

Yelp
Lauren and Scott were absolutely amazing! We came for bridal party and they made sure we were taken care of and ensured that we had a great time! 10/10 service from everyone at Mesu!
google avatar

Yelp
Mexican? Sushi? Why pick one when you can have BOTH? Located on Upper King, Mesu combines two of my *favorite* cuisines to bring us some bold, flavorful & delicious bites This spot is a VIBE with moody, colorful ambiance and is the perfect way to kick off a fun evening in downtown Charleston. What I ate/drank/loved: Tequila Crush Margarita Pitcher Chips & Dip Trio Bao Buns Habanero Glazed Edamame Street Corn Skewers Ceviche Taco Platter Sushi Platter Churros The staff really brought the party for our crew with sparklers, margarita pitchers, a massive sushi platter & tons of shareable plates making this is a great spot for a bachelorette party, birthday or just a fun night with a group of friends! Pro Tip: They offer sushi platters to-go with up to 125 pieces of sushi so keep them in mind for your next event
google avatar

Yelp
Always a great experience here. Some how we always get the waitress Warner and she is great!! Try the lobster sushi and the teriyaki wings, you want be disappointed.

Yelp
Overall my experience at Mesu with my group left us wanting a bit more. To start off the night our group was sat at the incorrect table and were made to get up and wait an additional 15 mins after having a reservation for 2 months prior. The food was very good but the chips with our appetizers were a bit stale.
google avatar

Emma P.

Yelp
Sushi was good, my dad got tacos and then my brother got jerky wings. So they definitely have a verity of items. The restaurant it's self was cute and good for birthday dinners because of the wide range menu.

Katie M.

Yelp
Mesu is a one of a kind experience! The fact that you can order sushi and Mexican dishes together is what sold us. Drinks: Strawberry Margarita, Mango Margarita Food: Pico Shrimp Taco Bao Bun Tsunami Roll (Tempura Shrimp, Salmon, Avocado, Truffled Soy Sauce, Eel Sauce, Pickled Onions) King Street Roll (Tuna, Escolar, Tempura Shrimp, Spicy Tuna, Wasabi Aioli, Scallions, Black Tobiko) Churro of the Day - Caramel Everything was fresh and the pairings of food in each dish went so well together. I know Mesu said that have bold flavors, and their food stands up to that! So fresh and amazing flavor from start to finish. The atmosphere is also such a cool vibe. Lots of unique artwork and pieces, great music, and great staff.

Yelp
Cutest place ever. They have a good mix of Japanese and Mexican cuisine. They have a variety of sake options. The guac was pretty tasty. Apparently the mix of Japanese and Mexican cuisine was sent up because the owner's wife liked both Japanese and Mexican food while pregnant (such a cute, romantic story). I loved the bartender. Also sake Sunday is just 5 bucks for sake which is pretty amazing. Randomly also there is a gong there you can hit if you are celebrating a special event (don't suggest...bartender might hate you after).
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
The daily special was a Sha-Coozey Roll (garlic seared wagyu, tuna, salmon, avocado, ceviche onions, strawberry ponzu, cilantro, and black salt). I wish I had a picture but it was so delicious it didn't pause to document it. Our server said it was so popular it was making the menu and I couldn't agree more. Amazing flavor combo. My date had the tequila espresso martini and a smash burger taco, also with positive reviews. Give this place a shot if you find yourself searching for a late night meal.

John D.

Yelp
Went here for restaurant week and got their "4 course" option. The nachos were worse than high school cafeteria nachos, the bao buns were deep fried and not good, the tacos tasted like whatever seasoning they put on the chips only greasier, and to top it off the dessert was cotton candy cheesecake! Yikes! I understand you wanna get people in the door with cheap prices to buy drinks but that "meal"was hardly worth $15. That said our server Brady was the absolute man! Very diligent, friendly and timely. The ambiance was cool and at least they were bumping Bad Bunny's new album to make up for the disappointment on the table. I'm sure the real menu is better but I can't help but feel like we got scammed.
google avatar

Yelp
For context, I am a vegetarian with an egg allergy, so I'm mostly reviewing what I could eat here, so YMMV. I came with a group on vacation and we got guacamole and chips and also salsa and chips for the table, and the salsa was reasonably tasty but the guacamole was just okay. (I may be spoiled in terms of guacamole, as I hail from both Hawaii and California, so also take that with a grain of salt.) I split the vegan roll with the other vegetarian in my group and we each also got the vegan taco on the menu. I liked the taco more than she did, although she didn't dislike it, but we were both pretty lukewarm on the sushi roll--the chimichurri sauce just kinda disappears into it and it ends up being a pretty generic green roll. The whole group was surprised there weren't any normal smaller rolls like avocado or kappa rolls (I mean, no avocado & shishito or hatch chili pepper roll? I really expected something fusion-y like that to be here based on the "Mexican Sushi" name). The kids in our group would happily have eaten kappa (cucumber) rolls had they been on the menu, too. The omnivores in my group were reasonably happy with what they got, however, my husband and another friend in my group decided to split the "jumbo" slice of carrot cake, and it was very much not $25 worth of cake nor taste-wise worthy of that pricing (I wouldn't know first hand, I'm just relaying their disappointment). Apparently very moist and not a bad cake, but absolutely not $25 good in either quality or quantity.

Yelp
Our first visit to Charleston and this is such a goody destination . It is so hard to get into a restaurant without a reservation but luckily Mesu had a table for the 4 of us. The drinks menu is interesting , I went with the Japanese mule which tasted great. I went with the mesu fish bowl which is like a fixed poke bowl .... Interesting combination of the sticky rice with all the usual additions and fresh raw tuna and ... The tacos were interesting ... can't complain and the sautéed veg and veggie rolls were tasty as well The seating area was nice with an interesting g art decor and our server was great

Yelp
Reservation is highly suggested. Kinda pricey everything. The last time I went and got the taco salad with braised beef and not gonna lie, it was DELISH. Their chips (and just as is) and queso are amazing, but the guac is kinda blah. I love that you can get the best of all the worlds and have a mexican appetizer and then sushi for your main, but for me a $20+ sushi roll should be something of the best quality and spectacular. A roll that you take your first bite and it makes you want to tell every single person in the restaurant about it, but in all honesty, they're every other mediocre good roll. Service is good here and Rachel did AMAZING. Just missing the star because a taco salad with meat and a marg was a $50 dinner. And it was a house marg. Like what.

Yelp
I enjoyed my dinner at Mesu. We where seated very quickly. I ordered the chips/queso and a chicken salad. The chicken salad has so much chicken! So filling and delicious. My favorite part was their spin on tortilla chips. They felt like a mixture between Doritos chips and tortilla chips. I was pleasantly surprised. I will defiantly be back to try more.

Yelp
The concept of tacos and sushi would never have occurred to me. But it works! MESU is a unique establishment with excellent tacos and sushi and their fish is brought in from Hawaii. It's laid back vibe and music makes it a great place to relax after work with friends. I stopped in for a quick pickup and sat at the bar while I waited. The bartender kept me entertained and I hate that I can't remember his name. It was a Monday evening and not crowded which is good to keep in mind. Their appetizers are reasonably priced as well as their tacos which would make it sharable amongst your table. It's definitely some place I'll be spending more time in this summer.

Yelp
This was the BEST food I've had in a while. I'm not easy to impress when it comes to my food. I LOVE GOOD, flavorful, hot food. I would have never thought to eat tacos with sushi but it was so good. I had the barbacoa tacos with the Tsumani sushi roll. If I wouldn't have had both, I definitely would've had more than one taco. The FLAVORS!! My Lord. This place was a whole vibe. My friend and I got a little dressed up since we were visiting the area. Allie provided great service. She was polite, attentive and her suggestions were spot on. Not to mention the drinks sealed the deal. Great experience! I will definitely be back in the fall.

Yelp
I loved the margarita here! Will go back for that for sure. The chicken taco was solid and the chips and salsa trio was nice as well. Salmon nigiri was spot on but the two rolls we had were just okay. As in we didn't even bother finishing one if them not because we were full, it just wasn't good. I think on a return trip I'd stick with a few nigiri and the Mexican options and call it good.

Yelp
We stopped in on Wednesday evening after 8 so they were not too busy. We were seated right away, the waitress was very attentive and offered suggestions. The food was good and priced well for the quality. We will certainly return when we return to town.
