Yelp
Definitely a mixed bag for me. As a fast food sandwich to gulp down, it hit the spot. Price point is an issue, and not a fan of the menu using meat and dairy vocabulary even with "plant-based" wall menu prologue / caveat. That said, if you are are flex/veggie and want a burger, it's definitely worth trying.
Finally made it in after a late afternoon errand in the area. I ordered the Classic without "cheese". I asked how big the burger was and the server came back with an uninformative "average".
The reason I asked is because the burgers are all $9-$10, not including fries. That is twice the price of a Smashburger Classic single, beef or black bean. While I acknowledge the economy of scale makes this a somewhat unfair comparison, I think the price is something to work on, as $10 is heading into pub & table wait service territory.
So, including tax and a buck tip that's twelve bucks for just a burger (veggie or not). I have a bit of a problem with that.
How was it? It was fine, but not $10 tasty. Size wise, a little broader than a Smash burger, and a little thicker patty. Generally it tasted good. Weirdly, no onions. (Why? There are onions on "The American").
I'll have to go back to comment on the taste & texture of the patty itself, this time I was just hungry and ate it in about five minutes. I did think to myself it wasn't as greasy as Beyond Meat or the Impossible Burger, which I appreciated. It didn't have much umami flavor though.
The bun was soft and white, no seeds on top which would be an easy win. Would appreciate a multi-grain bun as well. Bun was not toasted, which would have been good for texture and flavor and counted toward that $10 price.
They put the special sauce on the bottom bun, definitively a mistake as the sauce was thin (maybe not mayo based)? As a result of the bun consistency and thin sauce directly on bun, after three bites everything was falling apart. No stars off, but ideally could be better.
The space itself seems about twice as big as it needs to be given the location, limited parking, and somewhat specialized audience.
People, I'm mixed on this place. I will be back 'cause vegan fast food, but they need to proudly announce they're paying a living wage or get those prices down nearer to actual fast food. $7 would be acceptable. :)
