I really love the sauna. I want to try a massage one day, I am not big on them though. The infrared sauna is so relaxing, I recommend the a 2-person if you really want to stretch and get comfortable. They have thought of everything between the oils, the towels and robes, they provide water, the whole ambiance is so zen and cute. My only gripe is with the area of the room outside of the sauna. I had an event following my appointment, so I showered and changed here. The area was so hot that I sweating bullets while getting dressed. LOL! I do not know if there is a way to control the temperature but while changing it felt as though I was still in the sauna. It is not a big deal but putting clean clothes on a fresh/semi-sweaty body was hard. 🤣 I do not remember is being this way when I was here earlier in the year. Oh, and the staff is really nice. I will be back next month for another Me Day!)

Oh my God! It took me 7 decades to realize it's ok to take care of myself in ways I've always encouraged others. Meta Physica was worth the wait! From serene and cozy space, to a warm, welcoming, peaceful and friendly vibe, MPWC exceeded my expectations. I experienced the infrared sauna and will definitely be returning, not only for the healing heat, but because the cost is budget friendly. As a person with rheumatoid arthritis, even with medication, there is a low level of achiness that doesn't disappear. With the sauna, I came away with that achiness GONE. The sauna experience was very comfortable for me because you have your own individual room. You control the temperature and the music. You can bring your own robe, towels and water or MPWC supplies them for you for a slight increase in the fee. I'll be returning in a few days for a massage. This is my new place to rest and restore my body. You cannot go wrong going to Meta Physica. This is my day after massage review. I got the Classic. As usual, coming up the stairs is like a time of rising above the madness in the world. You open the door and are greeted by welcoming, smiling and peaceful spaces. My masseuse was Sarah. Hers is a serene, nuturing and open energy. She took me to a room that was clean, cozy, warm and embracing. We talked about what I wanted to achieve with the massage; areas that I felt needed particular attention; where I might have concerns. My whole impression was that I was talking with someone who genuinely wanted to give me the most care based on MY NEEDS, that this wouldn't be a mechanical, assembly line massage. Throughout the massage, she kept tuned in to me, how I was feeling making sure she was applying the most comfortable pressure. I felt really cared for. Once again, Meta Physica did not fail. You must add it to your own regular self care routine. I am!

I had such an exciting time in the sauna that I passed out on my way to the shower. In all seriousness, I’m fine. Completely my fault. I felt really looked out for in a moment that could have been even more embarrassing if handled differently. I will definitely be back!

I was over there yesterday and It was an Incredible experience. I got My first massage, To be a Deep massage, I thought it would be a little more with pressure, but no. It was relaxing and helped me a lot. I would definitely come back. The place is very quiet, calm and good lighting, the staff is super friendly and they do their best to make your experience good✨

Such a wonderful experience! My fiancé sent me and I’m forever grateful! The building has multiple suites so you have to look for the right door. I included a picture. It’s upstairs. Sarah was such a joy! She’s very attentive and caring. The atmosphere is so serene and relaxing! I’ll be back!

I've gotten acupuncture, infrared sauna sessions, and massages here. The massages are by far the best I've had. Chaka Bloodsaw is amazing for deep tissue massage. He holistically understands the body and knows how to loosen muscles. The establishment is clean and sells hand crafted holistic products. It is a small establishment, but the more intimate the better. Customer service is helpful. Highly recommended. I hope they plan to sell fresh juices again.

such a gem. we try to get to the sauna at least once every few weeks. they are always friendly and the saunas are clean. we always look forward to our time spent at meta.

I went for my first time a few weeks ago and will absolutely be going back. Jude was incredibly thoughtful and very specific in their approach to making sure I got what I was hoping for out of my experience. They talked to me the whole time, which is something I really appreciated, asking me lots of questions along the way.

I had a wonderful deep tissue massage. I was a little thrown off with the price at first. Frankie made it all make sense! It was painful then euphoric just as a true deep tissue massage should be.

One of my absolute favorite massage places. This is my go to place for a massage in the Detroit area. I've tried 4 different therapists here and I loved all but one. I've probably been here a dozen times. The therapists are all professional and I love that they don't try to talk to you too much and just let you enjoy the massage. The place is also very cute and cozy. It's very aesthetically pleasing.

Great place to utilize in your wellness journey/routine. I come here monthly for massages and use the infrared sauna frequently. Everyone that works here is welcoming and friendly.

Super clean and classy spot for a sauna. $30 bucks for hour experiance that was worth it. They have packages that get the price down to about $25. Will be back!

So I was arriving in Detroit on a red-eye at 7am and knew I had time to kill before I could check into my hotel room. So I decided to get a massage and anything else I could when I landed. After doing some research and reading reviews I found Meta Physica it was the owner who answered the phone and she was lovely. Little did I know that she was setting the tone for the rest of my experience. A calming essence came over me as soon as I walked in. I started with a massage from Alize and if I could put them in my luggage back home I would. Just fantastic! Then I sat in the Infared sauna for an hour and all of the toxins melted away. The spotify music of your choice is chef's kiss. It is just a wondering overall experience from staff to treatment, cleanliness. This will be on my to-do list anytime I am in Detroit.

Ok so I'm hesitant to write this review because it feels like I'm exposing a hidden gem. However...it's a pandemic and businesses need support to survive. So here goes. I LOVE this place. It's not the fanciest day spa I've been to, service offerings are still building back up to pre COVID availability, but the vibe is phenomenal and it's clean. It's a self aware kind of place, mellow and unpretentious, accessible luxury. Exactly the type of spot you want to go decompress. The two times for infrared sauna I've been, I booked a next appointment immediately after. You can opt for towel/robe/slipper service or bring your own for a discount, regardless prices are extremely reasonable. The saunas have iPads with built in premium self controlled Spotify and light treatment. Booking is done online, super easy. Bring cash to tip the sauna attendant! I don't know how I've lived my entire life without this.

I just paid $156 and ended up feeling worse than I did when I arrived. I scheduled a massage some weeks ago as a treat - I have been going through serious emotional and health issues. The massage itself was great. I appreciate that the masseuse was not a clockwatcher and her skills are firstrate. Massage: five stars Service: one star Average: three stars But the after-service was utterly nonexistent, no water, no towels to wipe off excess oil, not even a perfunctory good bye (as opposed to the previous client who got a hug and plenty of gushing). This might not seem like a big deal but it made me feel like dirt. Maybe it's just the inconsistent nature of Detroit service in general but I am going to make everyone I know aware of this situation and the masseuse involved. It's really NOT OK. I'm happy to let anyone and everyone know who this masseuse is - because no one should ever have to feel worse after a massage. I always tip 20% and this isn't the first time such an incident has occurred with this particular masseuse, leading me to wonder if I've done something wrong, perhaps I said something in my sleep (sometimes I fall asleep during massages). I much prefer Vis-a-Vis in Ann Arbor where the prices are lower and the service much friendlier.

Meta Physica is a great spa & therapy spot. And I have to say that Annie, the acupuncturist on duty put my skepticism to rest when it comes to acupuncture. She was very calming and professional, and talked me through the whole procedure. Although the treatment itsef was slightly discomforting, the afterall result was AMAZING!! My shoulders have been hurting for months to the point where I couldn't even put a coat on. After Annie's treatment however, the pain was eliminated! I feel like a new person thanks to her. And she offered several other options if I wasn't comfortable with the acupuncture. She is awesome! The entire staff is very professional and courteous. I wiuld definitey recommend for anyone to go here for pain relief. And what's so great about Meta Physica is they offer so many types of procedures for stress & pain relief. It's well worth the visit, and will be going back regularly.

If I could give this place a 100 stars, I would. From the moment you walk in, you are instantly relaxed by the smell of essential oils. The staff is so welcoming and the vibe of the place is warm and super cozy. I got my massage from Kellie when I was going through a difficult moment in my life. Kellie made me feel so safe, welcomed and encouraged me to get through it and I can say confidently that she helped me heal a little bit with the amazing massage she gave me but also the emotional support when I needed the most. This is also a women-owned business in Detroit. Do I need to say more??? This place is a gem and you will not regret your visit there.

my new obsession. This place is allll *clap* about *clap* the self care *clap*. I booked myself an hour long infrared sauna appointment the other night and it was great. I booked online which was SUPER easy and received the first time sauna special which was their elevated experience for $20 (I believe its usually $30/35). This hour long session included chromotherapy lights in the sauna that you can adjust, essential oils of your liking, Spotify premium built in the sauna that you can control, and a robe, towel, slippers, and water jug. it also included the use of their showers if you wanted to hop out a little early and rinse off. I had the small sauna room which could easily fit 2 people if you wanted, but it was just lil ol' me, just how I like it :) The heat felt AMAZING. My first time in an infrared sauna as I typically just use the ones provided in gyms. The difference was real and I'm not going back. There was a long bench I could sprawl out on and enough space in front where I could do several yoga poses and stretches. Right outside the rooms, there is the cutest little raw juice and smoothie bar. They also have lots of self care knick knacks like jade rollers, face masks, natural body butters, candles, and smudging sticks. I ordered myself a wheat grass shot and bought a natural face mask to use later that night. I felt so relaxed after my visit and I cannot wait to come back for more. Their customers service was great and I even got a sauna punch card to use for a free sauna visit!

wanting to try new things in the new year my boyfriend, a couple of our friends and I decided to try a sauna. Having had issues breathing in traditional saunas before I was hesitant but the infrared was amazing! We all felt amazing during and after. We even enjoyed their juice bar which had really yummy drinks we didn't feel guilty about drinking after sweating all our toxins out. I'm already trying to plan another spa day here to try out a massage or even acupuncture. Overall great experience and super nice staff, I am looking forward to being back.

I had a 90-minute massage last night with Lissa Meier and it was unbelievable. I'd honestly say it was the best massage I ever had. She relieved tension points and I left feeling like a new woman. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend this place. Its paradise in the city.

Meta Physica is absolutely lovely. The atmosphere is perfect: soothing, friendly, and warm. I've been getting prenatal massages with Lissa every few weeks since I was 10 weeks along, and I almost feel guilty when friends ask if I'm having back or hip pain yet because at 24 weeks, I have yet to have any significant discomfort related to my pregnancy. Lissa is a very intuitive and compassionate bodyworker -- she adjusts my massages to whatever I need on a given day, and she always seems to know exactly what that is. I can't recommend Meta Physica highly enough.

So glad I found this place. Chaka is amazing. Just left my appointment and I have to say that was the best deep tissue massage I have ever had. He is really attuned to what he's feeling and seeing and knows exactly what to do. He had his work cut out with me, but he was great. I will most definitely be back again really soon.

I have had constant pain and decreased range of motion in my ankle for 3 years due to an accident. One treatment with Annie and the pain was gone and range of motion increased. I have been back a few more times to treat other chronic problem areas and come away each time feeling better with relief. Annie works to get to know her clients and truly address their specific needs. Meta Physica is a calm, relaxing place that I enjoy visiting. Highly recommend!

I rarely write reviews but this place is worth it. I had such an incredibly relaxing experience at Meta Physica. The state of the art saunas were relaxing and rejuvenating- exactly what I needed. Its decorated very well and has everything you need in a health spa and more. HIGHLY recommend checking it out!

This place is an oasis in the city. I did one hour in the sauna and then tried a juice from the juice bar. The experience was wonderful. The space is beautifully designed and clean. Nice staff. I booked the elevated sauna experience, which comes with robes, slippers, water and Spotify service in the sauna that you control. You can opt for the regular service without these additions, but I definitely recommend the elevated experience.

I have had exceptional experiences with Jenaveve and Allen - both are intuitive massage therapists who fully understand the body's structure and how everything connects and relates. This is the place to come if you need healing.

I had a 90 minute deep massage with Jenaveve today, and it was the best massage I've ever had. I have chronic back/neck pain from tension and overuse, and she was able to get through layers of muscle pain. If you're looking for a good massage, I'd highly recommend her!

Jenaveve was truly amazing. I loved that she used a pain relieving balm (that she made herself) for my ailing back pain. She also provided some great feedback on how to prohibit this sort of pain in the future. I am so happy that I decided to try a massage while I was in Detroit. It was definitely a wonderful and relaxing experience. Jenaveve also provided me with some great places to see and try while I was visiting Detroit! I also must say that I loved the room and space where the massage was. It was warm, inviting and peaceful.

I was on business and booked a massage here, having no idea I was about to enter a work of art. The lush, soothing interior of this place is astounding--you feel like you've left Detroit and entered a daydream. Based on the atmosphere alone I knew I was in for a great treatment, and the massage proved to be one of the best I've had in any city. Afterwards I had an amazing and unusual juice while I sat admiring the design a little longer. Every aspect of the shop feels to be an expression of wellness, and it's also insanely stylish in an inviting way. I only wish I'd had time to try the infrared saunas, which I will next time I'm in town. Highly recommended if you need a break from the cityscape. I'll be back.

Jenaveve is a life saver! I love deep tissue and she is deep. The space is my favorite. It's small and right in the middle of the midtown but once you step through the door it's like an oasis. Highly recommended.
