Metcha Matcha Review - Tottenham - London - The Infatuation

"Metcha Matcha’s name is not ironic. There is a whole lot of matcha happening at this corridor of a cafe-cum-shop on Tottenham’s Philip Lane. It’s in the lattes that sit beside a freelancer’s laptop, it’s delicately sprinkled on top of the joyfully creamy ‘antozzo’ buns, and it’s the leading component of the freshly baked—albeit slightly dry—matcha cookies on the counter. The over-stuffed tuna onigiri are a rice flight risk and the doorstop bread sandos aren’t quite worth the jaw dislocation potential, so stick to a zingy yuzu blondie and a comforting hoji tea. If you live in the area, grab a bag of gyoza from the freezer by the till, a box of Haruka sushi rice from the shelves, and admire the Furbies whose existence we choose not to question. video credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley" - Heidi Lauth Beasley

London’s New Restaurant Openings

"This Japanese cafe in Tottenham is from the same people behind one of our favourite okonomiyaki spots, OkonomiHeads. There’ll be Japanese lattes, onigiri, sandwiches, and home-baked cakes like matcha blondies. " - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Sushi Heads Review - Tottenham - London - The Infatuation

"Sushi Heads is a teeny, tiny Japanese shop and takeaway counter that’s hidden on Phillip Lane. When you first walk in you’ll see a couple of freezers packed full of frozen dumplings, an array of bottled sauces, a cute cartoon sushi mural, and a couple of Furbys whose existence we choose not to question. You’ll probably spend a small fortune on Japanese cards, custard dorayaki, and chilli garlic kombu oil alongside your sushi order here, but that’s just the risk you have to take. Despite being so small they’ve got everything from donburi to nigiri to choose from, but it’s the katsu ebu futomaki that we’re really into. That being said, you can’t go wrong with a classic spicy tuna roll or a little salmon sashimi either." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Great little cafe!. A real lucky find. Delicious hot and cold drinks. The Japanese green tea is made from scratch by hand, as well as all the cakes. Authentic Japanese flavours and friendly friendly and attentive staff. I'm looking forward going again. Highly recommend.

Love this place. Such a great little gem and a welcome return to our community. Had a coffee and cookie - both were delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try some of the lunch options 😍

Ordered the omakase 38 pieces rolled sushi and it was delicious. Unfortunately I can’t eat raw fish due to pregnancy and they are very accommodating & try to give us more veggie & cooked rolled sushi. Will definitely order again

After 4yrs and many failed attempts (mostly because I always thought about popping in on my day off, a Monday, which is when they are closed!), I have finally made it to Sushi Heads. And I'm delighted to report it is excellent! Great menu, freshly prepared sashimi, sushi,. noodles etc (a few seats to eat in or get to take away)👌 Also a good selection of Japanese items for the pantry (soba noodles, nori sheets, soy, shiracha etc), freezer (gyoza, edamame, ice cream) and cute soy dishes, chopstick holders etc. Open until 9pm Weds-Sat. Pop in, you won't regret it!

Lovely sushi takeaway. Very fresh and service was quick. Love the toro taku temaki - which is served with some pickled radish and shiso leave. It's a pity to hear that the owner planned to pause serving sushi from early May. Hope they will consider resuming in the future when the fish supply gets better.

High quality matcha lattes and great selection of Japanese store cupboard bits to buy. I would love for them to start doing Sushi again!
