How to Support Those Impacted by the Park Tavern Crash | Eater Twin Cities

"Several nurses from Methodist Hospital were among those injured when the car struck the Park Tavern patio; four Methodist Hospital nurses were identified by a statement as being injured, and GoFundMe pages note Laura Knutsen, Tegan D’albani, and Theo Larson sustained extensive injuries that will involve long, physically and emotionally challenging recoveries. I also learned that Gabriel Quinn Harvey had worked as a health unit coordinator in Methodist Hospital’s ICU since 2022 and was soon to graduate nursing school, and fundraisers have been launched to support the injured nurses’ recoveries." - Justine Jones

My dad is currently admitted in the North Tower and I’ve requested to speak with the patient advocate 2x. I’ve called the number listed under patient advocate on the website and it takes me to the main directory and I’m transferred to everyone but the patient advocate. I have concerns with my father’s care, from forgetting to serve him dinner, to him not being on diabetic precautions until the 4th day of his stay. Diabetic precautions are critical to the care of someone with diabetes. So it’s concerning that sugars weren’t being monitored, especially when he was on a steroid, as it increases blood sugar. Then when they finally checked sugars on day 4, his sugar was 170 and they had to give him insulin. It took 4 hours to get him a lidocaine patch. I understand a doctor has to do rounds, but waiting 4 hours for a patch is unacceptable. He was in the same grip socks and gown until day 4 of admittance. His linens ? Same thing, 4 days of sitting in dirty sheets. He’s mobile, so his grip socks were horrendous and the dirt from walking was being transferred to the bed. His gown had dried blood on. It’s more than an infection control issue, it’s a basic human decency issue. Thankfully two nursing students changed linens, and gave new socks and gown on day 4. No one has gone over the results of his liver profile and the results were in the EHR on Sunday night. I’d love for someone to get in contact with me prior to me filing a grievance and state report. I believe in education and showing grace. But when basic patient rights are violated, there’s a problem. He can’t advocate for himself, as he struggles to talk, post surgery. So his family has no option but to advocate.

Staff is very profesional, knowledgeable and always went above and beyond their duty. They responded quickly and always took good care of me. Thanks to all. Therefore, my room was pretty dirty. The sanitation standards were extremely low. The breastfast and dinner trays were left in the room overnight as well as the day trash. The sink was not working and the water didn't flush. The floor was dusty and pieces of used cotton were left on the floor.

I recently had surgery at Methodist Hospital. My experience was excellent. From pre- opt appointment to post- opt appointment the nurses, staff and MDs provided detailed information of what to expect. Everyone followed protocol from asking my name and D.O.B to asking me what procedure I am getting, as well as ensuring my comfort level. The staff also spoke to my family member about where I was in the process of surgery to recovery room. Parking is available, the first 90 minutes are free and depending how long you stay there is a charge. A bonus during my surgery was having a volunteer provide me with a wheelchair and escort me and my family member to my parking spot. The process from begining to end was efficient and well organized.

The staff was wonderful throughout my stay. Everyone was very attentive and clear with what they were doing to me at that moment. Everytime I needed a nurse, they were in my room within minutes. Great experience feom beginning to discharge.

Had , “Double Hernia / Gallbladder surgery,” from reception to departure, was treated with dignity, loving care and concern. I’ve already done another survey stating some of this , but, I am so,so grateful for kindness , professionalism (while being loving and caring), received from all the staff ! Again I am especially thankful for a few nurses in particular (not discounting my Doctors, or their direct staffs ). However ( and I’m sorry I’m only remembering one of their names -my discharge nurse Rachel ), but I must give my highest love and Thanks to the nurse whom did my initial IV , in preparation, she was so caring and kind and was marvelous. The other standout ,was , my first Recovery nurse , as I was waking, I was in a fair amount of pain , and discomfort (from the Aesthetic), she was so very supportive, loving caring . Regaining consciousness, I asked if she would hold my hand and she did , and I was thankful for the “touch” , and I do believe and I’m sorry that I may have squeezed her hand hard , and kept holding me until my symptoms subsided. You all were so very kind and genuinely concerned throughout this entire procedure, and I for one am very , very Thankful. This was my 3rd or 4th procedure at Methodist in the past 2 to 3 years, and the treatment, professionalism , the bed-side manner , the kindness could not be any better in my opinion. Thank you to Dr. Karram , his office, his staff and All Methodist Hospital members !😃❤️🙏

From checking in until checking, everyone I dealt with was fantastic. I had a pacemaker implanted. A special thank you to Dr. Pederson and everyone who was with him in the OR. Also, special thanks to Michael who was my nurse for the day. He took great care of me.
