How to Support Those Impacted by the Park Tavern Crash | Eater Twin Cities

"Several nurses from Methodist Hospital were among those injured when the car struck the Park Tavern patio; four Methodist Hospital nurses were identified by a statement as being injured, and GoFundMe pages note Laura Knutsen, Tegan D’albani, and Theo Larson sustained extensive injuries that will involve long, physically and emotionally challenging recoveries. I also learned that Gabriel Quinn Harvey had worked as a health unit coordinator in Methodist Hospital’s ICU since 2022 and was soon to graduate nursing school, and fundraisers have been launched to support the injured nurses’ recoveries." - Justine Jones

My experience at Methodist Hospital was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and genuine kindness by the entire staff. Despite the busy environment and the many patients they care for, everyone made me feel like I was their top priority. The nurses, doctors, and support staff exhibited incredible professionalism, knowledge, and compassion, always taking the time to listen to my concerns and explain my treatment options thoroughly. What impressed me the most was how caring and attentive everyone was, even amidst their busy schedules. They created a reassuring environment where I felt truly cared for and confident in the care I was receiving. Their dedication to providing high-quality healthcare is evident in every interaction, and it made a difficult time much easier for me. I wholeheartedly recommend Methodist Hospital to anyone in need of medical care. Their team’s expertise, kindness, and unwavering commitment to patients make this hospital stand out. If you want to be in good hands with compassionate professionals who truly care, Methodist Hospital is the place to go. Your health and well-being are in the best possible hands here.

Exceptional care - Esela (RN) was terrific as was Annette (PCA). Annette came to my rescue when the alarm on my bed would not stop ringing. Several people tried to shut it off to no avail. Annette made the decision to change out the bed - problem solved! This issue occurred in the night shift. Esela took care of me during the day and everything ran like clockwork! She was amazing! I was brought a CPAP by Sydney. It didn’t work. She brought the machine at 8:50 and tried to hook it up - the mask was too tight and no air was moving through the mask. At 9 pm, Sydney told me she would be back to see him and she left my room - I never saw her again. At 9:30 pm the temperature inside my mask was very warm - I removed the mask and shut the CPAP (if that’s what it was) down. I had to sleep withy bed propped up to where I was almost sitting up. Arrived at 5:00AM - parking was a breeze. Check-in was done quickly and efficiently. Was taken to a room for pre-operation prep. It all went smoothly. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Procedure started on time and was successful. Recovery went about the time estimated and I was able to leave about 3:00PM. Over-all it could not have gone better.

I appreciate the efforts they took to help me, albeit some worse than others. I got an oxygen mask put on when I was vomiting which resulted in about a 3 foot blast zone originating from my face. They're still using perastaltic IV pumps, that start beeping at you for moving your arm. Highly recommend hospital leadership looks at switching from Meditech to Epic. All in all 4 out of 5 stars, and I've stayed at too many hospitals....

I was transferred from the ER to the 3rd floor at Methodist. I would like to thank everyone who cared for me so wonderfully! From those who cleaned my room up to the doctors who listened to try to find solutions, every person was kind, compassionate, professional and seemed genuinely glad to be there. I’d also like to give a shout out to the techs in the radiology department. They made an otherwise rough situation into something manageable. I don’t want to name anyone specifically because there were so many, but you all helped me feel better with your humor and tender care.

I was there on 17 Dec to remove a pacemaker and bad leads. From the minute I went downstairs to check in till I left that day, nothing but professional medical staff. All the staff were totally dedicated to making sure all my needs were met and kept me informed of each step of my surgery. However, I would like to highlight Lea, who was the nurse in charge of preparing me for surgery, hooking up all the wires, and explaining each process in detail. Keeping my wife and daughter informed of the process up to surgery. Once surgery was done, she prepared me to exit the hospital with full instructions on my limitations. The staff in the operating room, starting from the doctor who puts you to sleep to the nurses preparing me for surgery, and what was going to happen until I came back, and informing surgery went well. I have only been in the hospital two times in my lifetime, but I was darn glad I was at the METHODIST. Today, 24 Dec, has been a week, and I feel great. Thanks to all of you for dedicating 100% of your time to getting me well. Ed Garcia Proud Army Vet Castroville, Tx

I had surgery at Methodist Hospital, and my experience was amazing. All staff in the surgical department were top notch! Accommodating, respectful, friendly, skilled and eased my fears prior to the procedure. After surgery I was admitted on the Women’s floor for one night. Nurses, techs, lab technicians and other floor staff were just wonderful and assisted in my recovery by controlling post-op pain, being encouraging, keeping me informed, and checking on me frequently. I’d definitely would consider this hospital in the future if needed.

My dad is currently admitted in the North Tower and I’ve requested to speak with the patient advocate 2x. I’ve called the number listed under patient advocate on the website and it takes me to the main directory and I’m transferred to everyone but the patient advocate. I have concerns with my father’s care, from forgetting to serve him dinner, to him not being on diabetic precautions until the 4th day of his stay. Diabetic precautions are critical to the care of someone with diabetes. So it’s concerning that sugars weren’t being monitored, especially when he was on a steroid, as it increases blood sugar. Then when they finally checked sugars on day 4, his sugar was 170 and they had to give him insulin. It took 4 hours to get him a lidocaine patch. I understand a doctor has to do rounds, but waiting 4 hours for a patch is unacceptable. He was in the same grip socks and gown until day 4 of admittance. His linens ? Same thing, 4 days of sitting in dirty sheets. He’s mobile, so his grip socks were horrendous and the dirt from walking was being transferred to the bed. His gown had dried blood on. It’s more than an infection control issue, it’s a basic human decency issue. Thankfully two nursing students changed linens, and gave new socks and gown on day 4. No one has gone over the results of his liver profile and the results were in the EHR on Sunday night. I’d love for someone to get in contact with me prior to me filing a grievance and state report. I believe in education and showing grace. But when basic patient rights are violated, there’s a problem. He can’t advocate for himself, as he struggles to talk, post surgery. So his family has no option but to advocate.

Yelp
I am writing my about my experience from labor and delivery and a 91 day NICU stay with my first born. The labor sucked and I have mixed feelings about the NICU. This will be a lengthy post... When I was pregnant I researched the best hospital to deliver in San Antonio. My OB is Dr. Morales with Willow OBGYN and she delivers at this hospital. Also, this hospital was highly recommended to me for delivering my son and I read they had the best NICU in the city. Labor and Delivery: I went into labor on January 19 at 3 am this year after my water broke at home. I went into the labor and delivery triage and was admitted to my delivery room. When I arrived I was 2 cm dialated. Hours passed and I was still only 2 cm dialated. The nurse then gave me some medicine to dialate (not pitocin) and I was still not dialating. Then, by the evening they did give me pitocin and an epidural because I couldn't stand the pain anymore. Around 2 am on January 20 the nurse checked me and I was only 3 cm dialated even after pitocin. I was in so much pain I hadn't realized that I hadn't seen a doctor the whole time I had been there (besides in triage). I had my mom go ask for my OB and they told her that she was not on call that night but there was another dr on call. I don't understand how I could be in a labor and delivery room for an entire 24 hours and not see a doctor face to face. They told me it was because it was MLK weekend and Monday (January 20) was a holiday. I didn't care, I still feel like I should have at least been able to be examined by the doctor on call. Finally, on January 20th around 10 am, almost 30 hrs in labor, my OB, Dr. Morales arrived to my bedside and was shocked that I hadn't delivered my baby yet. She then told me that we could wait a few more hours to see if I would be able to deliver naturally or I could have a c-section now. I really wanted to deliver naturally but by that evening I decided to go ahead with the c-section. What the nurses didn't tell me (or the dr on call that I never saw) was that the longer you're contracting (which I was with the pitocin ) and NOT dialating, the greater risk you are of hemmoraging during the c-section. I was very upset that no one told me that and would have opted for the c-section immediately. Also, by around 4/5 pm I spoke with Dr. Morales my OB and we decided on the c-section but I wasn't taken back to the OR until almost midnight. My son was born on January 20th right before midnight and needed to be rushed to the NICU on oxygen. This was my first baby and I am very upset that no doctor came to examine me for more than 24 hrs while in labor. Especially that I was high risk with gestational diabetes and my sugar levels kept dropping even after being given juice and snacks. NICU Experience: My son was in the NICU initially for breathing trouble and needed oxygen and a CPAP machine. When he was 3 days old he no longer needed respiratory support and the nurse noticed "red streaks" around his belly along with a distended belly. I then found a surgeon next to my sons bedside who was examining him and looked very confused. He said that usually these symptoms are due to NEC (Necrotizing Endrocolitis) which is primarily found in premature infants but my son was full-term. For over a whole month, my son had hundreds of tests, labs, and imaging and still no one knew what was wrong with my baby. Shortly after he turned 1 month only his stomach started to get bigger by the day and eventually looked like he was pregnant. They told me there was a risk his intestines could burst. He was in so much pain that he couldn't even sleep and was crying and grunting when he did sleep. Eventually the only option left was exploratory surgery, which was done by Dr. Robert Thomas. The surgery was a huge success and he ended up having some dead bowel (intestine) that had to be removed. He had an ostomy bag for a month and then was able to get reconnected. My son's Neonatal Drs, Dr. Welch and Dr. Martinez were amazing. Both providers had excellent bedside manner and did a fantastic job of communicating with me daily. The majority of his nurses were absolute angels. The NICU manager Amanda and the director Sara along with the charge nurses were very accommodating and helped me navigate the most stressful time of my life. No one wants to go through a stressful labor or a traumatic childbirth or NICU experience, but the NICU nurses, doctors, and staff were extremely compassionate and you can tell they love what they do. Thank you Methodist Hospital for taking care of my son. However, please work on your labor and delivery unit to be more patient oriented.

Yelp
In June 2025, I was admitted to this hospital for a severe tattoo-related infection that developed into cellulitis. My experience here was not just disappointing -- it was dangerous, neglectful, and traumatic. Inadequate Medical Care & Dismissal of Concerns From the start, my symptoms and concerns were consistently brushed off. Doctors rarely performed thorough physical assessments, despite my reports of worsening redness, burning, swelling, and vein pain. When my IV infiltrated (blew), staff continued pushing antibiotics through the compromised site, causing additional pain, swelling, and long-term issues with my arm. I was discharged from the hospital severely dehydrated and with an elevated resting heart rate that has yet to come down, even weeks later. My heart rate was consistently above 100 bpm, yet instead of running any cardiac tests or checking my heart rhythm, I was told it was "just a panic attack" and was given Xanax -- a medication I had never taken before. No one checked my heart. No one ran an EKG. I later discovered from reading my medical records that I already had a prolonged QT interval, which increases the risk for a dangerous arrhythmia called torsades de pointes. Despite this, they administered medications that can further prolong the QT interval, putting me at even greater risk. The hospital never informed me of this or monitored me for cardiac complications. Poor Discharge Planning & Pharmacy Mistakes On top of the inadequate care, my discharge was mishandled. I had provided my correct pharmacy information (HEB) multiple times, yet the doctor sent my pain medication to the wrong pharmacy (Walgreens) and refused to correct it, leaving me without proper pain management in the critical days after discharge. Unprofessional and Disturbing Roommate Experience To make matters worse, my hospital stay was made more uncomfortable by my assigned roommate, who defecated on the restroom floor and in the shower, creating an unsanitary and distressing environment. Additionally, she repeatedly made offensive comments that directly insulted my religious beliefs, making my stay not only physically painful but emotionally unsafe. Lasting Impact This hospital failed me on every level -- physically, emotionally, and medically. I was not only left with lingering heart rate issues, chronic arm pain, and the burden of unresolved dehydration, but the emotional trauma of having to fight to be taken seriously, to be treated safely, and to simply have my basic human dignity respected. The hospital was fully aware of my pre-existing mental health conditions and yet made choices that worsened my emotional state and ignored critical risks to my physical health. Even when obvious signs pointed to something more serious, I was repeatedly dismissed. The only bright spot was that some of the nurses I encountered were kind on a personal level, but kindness does not outweigh negligence. Final Thoughts I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this hospital to anyone. My case is still unresolved, and I am considering filing a formal complaint due to the long-term impact this experience has had on my health and well-being.

Yelp
Compassionate staff, descent food (I mean is there such a thing for a Michelin star rating for hospital food ha!), rooms are cleaned and daily sanitized. The sanitizer is so strong I have to bring eye drops, but personally I'd prefer to know it's clean. They run out of dietary preferences often so I do feel the food service staff could do a better job at inventory. I mean, vanilla protein shake is not a perishable item so overstocking in that is fine.

Yelp
Esh! I hate to leave this type of review but this was based on my personal experience. We first stayed here in early March because we welcomed our sweet baby boy into this world. The care we received in the labor and delivery unit was amazing. Unfortunately, we returned because my husband had to have emergency surgery at the end of March. We stayed on the fourth floor. The care was not as great. I will give credit where credit is due. Our charge nurse Will was amazing! If every nurse could be the way he was ...the hospital would function so smoothly! Ruth and Dorothy were at the top of the list too! Those nurses do Gods works. Some of the other nurses were very rude and anytime we needed something it seemed as if we were bothering them. Granted my husband was in a lot of pain. Two of the nurses left him unattended too for hours at a time. I also want to add we aren't very needy people and I get that they are probably short staffed but that shouldn't take away from quality care. Our sheets were changed once because I had to ask many times. They left several IVs out sometimes would forget to come back and plug them in and not to mention we did not get checked on every hour as their sign says they will. Being that I had just had a baby I thought for sure we were going to get the same type of care we got on the second floor. I do want to mention our saving grace besides Will our RN. Dr. Wool was amazing! He made me feel like all was right in the world. He followed my husband along with his care and made sure to apologize for every mishap the hospital made. Dr. Wool was not the surgeon who was on my husbands case but he went above and beyond to explain step by step what was going on. His bed side manners are phenomenal. I really hope that in the future Methodist could step it up a bit because there was so many times I was highly discouraged.

Yelp
Like someone posted back in 2017, I've been in this area since back in the 80s. In the late 80s, I left Methodist with a staph infection that took 7 years and several surgeries (debridements) and an incredible infectious disease Dr. Fetchick to solve. Methodist has gone through many upgrades over the decades and I'd opt for St. Lukes or Christus Santa Rosa Anytime over Methodist, but I've heart stuff to deal with and unfortunately, Methodist seems to have a local monopoly on heart specialists. I did go to ER recently, for a week I was in ICU but you'd never know it, as I was left unattended for most of the time. Hours I spent in bed in a lake of my own waste. They, the drs, did discover a mass of cancer in bladder, but other than that, I dread Ever having to return to this place. I wouldn't wish Methodist staff care-lack of-on anyone.

Yelp
I wasn't too impressed with Methodist. I had a family member in here for a few days, and I spent a lot of time hanging out here. The staff is slow, but mostly pleasant. There was one instance of a hundred minute wait to see a nurse when the nurse calling button was repeatedly mashed. Toilet paper supplies ran out, and patients were forced to 'improvise.' Nobody ever brags about the food in the hospital, but this stuff was lower than the usual stuff that they bring out. Nothing was warm. The elevators hardly work. They're slow, a few of them were out of order. I never got to ride in the elevator. The place looks dingy and needs a renovation. The basement is huge. Did you know that they opened this hospital with a simulated nuclear explosion? It was the first hospital built with a nuclear bunker in the basement. Parking is a nightmare here. They've got the Three Stooges out in front of the place running a valet parking "service." They park cars anywhere they can- fire lanes, blocking in other cars, blocking up the entrance to the hospital. Need to pick up a patient who's getting discharged? Ha! These fools have it all screwed up so you can't even get close. They want a tip for parking my car? They want gratuity for screwing up the entrance to an emergency facility? These guys can go park on a tack. Who charges to go to the hospital. My advice is go park on Louis Pasteur and walk the few blocks. I hope to never return.

Yelp
Horrible staff, horrible doctors, nurses just leave you for hours at a time, ignoring you. Then send you home to die 2 weeks later. Don't go here unless you're ready to die.

M M.

Yelp
I had a seizure and came here. Nobody listened that my seizure was induced by phenazolam. Nobody listened when I begged them to take me off xanax because I'm scared to seize. The nurses dont know benzodiazipines cause seizures. Now I am home and I'm having another seizure. I was there for 10 days

Yelp
3 rings and an apple watch are now missing. This is disgraceful when an 80 year old woman breaks her hip and gets stolen from. Don't go to Methodist San Antonio!

Yelp
Seem to be appropriately cautious, and proactive. Stem cell Transplant for family member. Nurses seem all about business, food and menu for relative. This is my go to hospital in San Antonio.

Trina W.

Yelp
If I was just reviewing the labor and delivery team I'd give 5 stars! From checking in to delivery everyone was great. Especially the midwife Erin who delivered our baby girl who decided to come at 34 weeks. They were not pushy, let me have my VBAC, let me birth in and position I wanted in or out of bed, and didn't force pitocin or epidural or any other interventions I didn't want. There was a whole NICU team in the room ready to take care of our girl. Now the most of the NICU nurses are great but some have been there a long time and are stuck in their ways, not necessarily the right way of doing certain things. Also, it was stressful because we got conflicting advice from lactation consultant, speech pathologist, nurses, nurse practitioners and Dr...so it was hard to know what was really going on or what the plan of action was. The hospital itself is decent but cafeteria is not great. Never seems to be open half the time and is small for such a big hospital. There's a little cafe kiosk that sells coffee and some lunch, breakfast and snack items though as well. But if you're gonna be in there for a long stint for something planned ahead take food with you.

Yelp
This review is for Methodist ER De Zavala Rd and has been cross posted on Google. I never thought I would write a review like this, but other families considering care at Methodist ER De Zavala deserve to know what happened. I write to share my family's deeply traumatizing experience with Dr. Sophia Zabadayev and Nurse Rochel Turlowski at this facility. During a visit with our infant son, who has Mongolian spots, Dr. Zabadayev and Nurse Turlowski failed to do a full physical exam: no palpation, no assessment of limb movement, or no differential diagnosis. Instead, Dr. Zabadayev made a visual assumption and misdiagnosed my son's Mongolian spots as "unexplained bruises." They then used this misdiagnosis to report only me (not my husband who was equally present and engaged) to CPS. They also recommended unnecessary escalation of care, which included X-rays, bloodwork, a CT scan, and hospital admission -- all based on Dr. Zabadayev's error. This experience revealed a clear lack of cultural and medical competence. Mongolian spots are commonly seen in children who are Hispanic, African American, Asian, and Native American. Yet, this basic knowledge was ignored. What's worse, Dr. Zabadayev's medical notes in my son's medical records are filled with omissions, misrepresentations, and loaded, subjective language. These notes have caused ongoing harm, and I am still working on amending the records so that her words do not follow my son throughout his life. Thankfully, our pediatrician and the CPS investigator recognized the error and confirmed that these were Mongolian spots -- not bruises -- but the trauma remains. I've filed a formal complaint to Methodist, and to their credit, they've stated they are investigating. However, I feel a responsibility to share my concerns publicly so that no other parent walks into this ER unaware of what might happen. I went to this facility seeking care and reassurance for my child. Instead, I encountered bias, misdiagnose, and profound harm. This entire experience has been frightening, emotionally devastating, and humiliating. Please exercise caution if you or your loved ones are seen by Dr. Zabadayev or Nurse Turlowski at this facility. I do not want any other family to experience what my family had to endure. I sincerely hope that my review leads to greater accountability, and that these providers reflect deeply on how their actions affect families like mine.

Yelp
I'm torn. This place saved my life. Thank you for that. Truly, I appreciate that. However, they also gave me another patient's drug/s by, mistake. And the hospital then sent me a bill that included the drug/s and administration of the drug/s meant for the other patient. I will leave it at that. I want to remain as factual so that this post can't be flagged or be pursued for libel.

Yelp
The doctor they signed time after my stroke was incredible!! Saved my life essentially And their PTprogram is top notch. Stoke victims are often hurt by being forgotten, but Methodists a special unit where everyone works in sync. It's amazing!! Staff are all Friendly , knowledgable, and kind. Training was amazing! Obviously the patient mindset is VERY IMPORTANT/ it's what makes the difference between full recovery and medaochre recovery.

Yelp
My Sister is in this hospital at the moment and has been there in the past few months and they have given her the absolute worst experience. From a doctor using his BARE HANDS very near her groin area, nurses that don't seem to understand bed side practices and having to wait until after noon to eat because the nurses don't put in her food order. I wouldn't go to the bathroom here let alone, send a family member here ever again. Zero stars if it were possible

Holly B.

Yelp
My family member with leukemia was in this hospital for over a month. She was discharged home today to continue her oral chemotherapy. She has a good PPO insurance. She is unable to find any pharmacy that can fill her chemotherapy prescription for Vesanoid because it costs $9000.00 per pill and she takes multiple pills daily. The oncologist is unavailable, the hospital will not provide a partial Rx fill, she is weak and still sickly and extremely worried, as am I. I spoke to the nurse in the hospital who can do nothing to help, as discharge planning was not ordered by the oncologist. In California, where I live and worked as an RN, no hospital would ever treat a patient in this manner. People complain how California has too many laws and higher taxes, however, Californians are protected by laws from these cruel Texan practices.

Yelp
Former employee. Save yourself and never go or work here. Underpaid and overworked. Terrible place. Terrible service. Terrible staff. The nurses talk badly about their patients. And my god- all they do is complain. Seeing it firsthand. Horrible patient care. I've never been so ashamed to have been apart of such a terrible facility. It's filthy and techs and nurses are so unsanitary and unprofessional. No thanks. Glad I left.

Yelp
My husband came here with an emergency and more than 48 hours the place that says "CARE PLAN" on his official record is BLANK. He is just glanced at by a rotating circle of rude doctors who are only treating symptoms. Some of them don't even step in his room!! I have repeatedly asked for specialist consults and they say they have called but no specialist has ever shown up. I have even asked if they can recommend someplace we can transfer my husband to, where he can get the specialist care he needs. They won't do that either (money grab). I will never ever return here even if I'm bleeding to death this place is a hell hole. Edit: a specialist showed up after we had been there 60 hours. Some of the doctors have been informative. The nursing staff is nice but clearly overworked. Everything takes 12 hours to get done

Analis F.

Yelp
Not impressed with this hospital what so ever. If you have the choice go somewhere else, GO! 1) They registered my grandmother under the wrong name & we are 8 days in & no one has corrected it. Minor, no! That is a patient identifier and it's incorrect. 2) Case management workers are not friendly what so ever on ANY floor. They do not hear the family out & force you to make a decision without researching because they want to transfer the patient out asap. 3) We are 8 days in & NO ONE has asked who her primary care doctor is or haven't even asked for any medical records. We have been treated like we do not know how to care for someone who has had a stroke. Had they asked we would have given them every medical record we have and a list of medications she had been on. Therefore, we had to take matters into our our own hands & reach out to her primary care because of how unhappy we are with the service here at this hospital. 4) EVERYONE from any department including housekeeping, to nurses, to lab employees are constantly on their personal cell phone ever where you look. Which explains why the bathrooms and floors are dirty including the blinds on the windows. -I am leaving this review because I work in healthcare in another state and I can not believe this is how they care for patients here. It's the minor and basic things we see and can't even be done correctly. It's a joke here and not professional.

Yelp
I took my adult daughter to Methodist ER for chest pain and bradycardia with PVC's. She was brought from waiting area to a room multiple times to draw blood, do EKG, CXR etc. Her heart was listened to by a student, the doctor did not listen to her heart at all. She was not ever connected to a continuous monitor. The discharge nurse was very rude and abrupt. Chest pain and arrhythmias are serious. We were very disappointed in the care for a chest pain patient. We had a much more positive experience at The Rim ER/Urgent Care where they did exactly what was needed and expected at one time. They actually monitored her heart and condition. Excellent experience there. I would not recommend Methodist ER.

Yelp
My personal experience is my own. I believe in true kind, compassion for all. There are great nurses and doctors, surgeons who dedicate their lives to make sure they do help and heal others. Being a past employee, I hope changes are made. Remember folks, if you come to the hospital, speak up, if you are supposed to be SEE and be Examined by a physician they MUST actually see you, NOT a family nurse practitioner, if you get discharged, only. Sign if it has a doctor sign off on it. It's INSURANCE Fraud if not. Safety: In the main building, there should be caution sign tape on those glasses walls warning not for kids to play on. that drop 3 floors down. Please keep your kids off. Rosella is a 5 star coffee shop. The best coffee and the coolest staff. The owner is an outstanding and respectful man that cares for his customers. The problem is, by the time evening rolls around, the floors dirty with coffee stains, dirt tracks from the main and 2-3 garage. We used to clean them 24/7 but HCA decided to cut down on hiring employees and staff by paying minimum of less than 16.00 an hour and hiring staffing agencies that get paid 18.00-19.00 then pay those staff 17.00.hmm saves on insurance, easy turn over. Anywhere from 4am to 7 -8 the floors are super clean because some does great detail early morning. Keep it up. Restrooms need superior attention 24/7 just me, go check for yourself. Wouldn't you want to walk into a hospital restrooms and the floors are spotless, well it ain't perfect because they down size EVS staff as well other departments. Mother baby and L and D are great departments, they strive to make sure you newborns are well taken care of. 5 stars Sl1 cafeteria: great food but depends who's cooking and maintaining the freshness 3 stars. They don't really have the best food, school quality foods yes, but that's about it. 3 stars Firefly sushi: 5 stars, good food, great staff North building: questionable? Children ER. Questionable but decent. Photos are the way the floors supposed to be, hopefully everyone else does as well .

Yelp
My mom went to Methodist for a mastectomy. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff and the amazing surgical team that took care of my mom! They were amazing! Now, we had to wait on the surgical registration waiting area, which was fine until we needed to use the restroom. I have never been to a dirtier more disgusting restroom in my life. It was worse than any rest stop/gas station that I have ever been to! There were two, and the second was somehow worse than the first. I mean, this is a hospital. Step it up and get those bathrooms clean for the families that have no choice but to use them while their loved ones are in surgery! So disappointed at the level of cleanliness. Give these amazing empty something to be proud of.

Yelp
Brought my wife in due to issues after heart surgery. We arrived about midnight between Friday 5 and Saturday 6. They started out doing real good, we checked in and, I assume being a heart issue, we didn't have to sit around in the waiting room. In the back they went straight to work on checking for the problem. Within the our they told us she would probably have to be admitted and moved us to a room within the ER section. The nurses kept a close eye on her responded promptly when the monitor went into alarm found a combination of meds to stabilize her heart rhythm. At about 4:00am they confirmed that we would stay and that they were looking for a room. At 7:00 the shift changed and we haven't seen another doctor since and it's been 11 hours that they still can't find a room. I'm assuming it's not the ER department that lost their rooms. But it doesn't seem they have made any effort to make the move happen or even let us know the process is even moving along. Just an occasional were working on it or checking with the other floor on how it's going would be nice.

Yelp
Care Quality , Cleanliness , uneducated nurses , unreliable nurses , irresponsible nurses , poor communication between staff! Don't ever bring your family here unless you want them to get the right care and survive!

Yelp
I was impressed with how friendly the staff was here, attentive and caring. They are extra cautious and much we appreciated. The parking garage was challenging to find a space during the day.

Yelp
My mom had a heart attack IN this hospital and they made light of it. Never got the proper treatment and then she passed away 3 months later. They discharged her without even telling us and just shrugged like they couldn't care less. We were in two different rooms with 3 different people ALL hated it there and even the staff was miserable. Communication lacked. My mother died in my arms in my house and I blame them. They could have helped and didn't. They didn't even know she was having a heart attack while giving a blood transfusion, her roommate a patient that was admitted pressed her emergency button and saved her.

Yelp
My mother is in the Emergency room as I type. She is being MIS-Diagnosed. They think she's an opiate addict. She just had 2 Full Hip replacements back to back. Her surgical latest surgical site, the muscle is hardening. She is IN PAIN. I've spoken to the charge nurse and the her direct nurse. I'm being talked to like i'm an imposition, or just dumb. I've also called the hospital grievance line, emailed and called her surgeon. I don't know what else to do!!! How can I get the attention of someone who can override her ER Dr., and give her pain relief?

Yelp
Communication from doctors and nurses is horrible. Good luck timing you visit with a doctor and no one knows when they will visit your loved one. Constant treatment of symptoms with no communication as to WHY your loved one is sick and the cause . Just another hospital pushing drugs. My dad was on one medication and now 5 with no communication as to why he has the issues he does.

Yelp
I'm so surprised at the number of negative reviews that have been posted about Methodist Hospital. Through my many years of experiences with using this hospital for treatment, I've only received excellent care from the nurses and the doctors. Everyone has always shown great concern for my health. I would like to thank all of the medical professionals and all of the other staff who run this hospital. You are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the great work and stay safe. I remember when I had surgery, I was treated so good that I wrote thank you notes to everyone involved in my care. They also called to check on me several times, and I've never been called from other hospitals. I know your jobs aren't easy and probably very stressful. I want you to know that I sincerely appreciate all of you. Thank you! TaKori

Yelp
it has been the worst experience we have ever received. I have spoken to three administrators and have yet to get any feed back. the lack of regard for patient and family is ridiculous, and when I informed them of their systemic issues I received a response of " a hospital full of patients and I'm the only one having issues how could it be a systemic issue." well it's because I know who to escalate the concern too. why is it I can receive Cadillac service on one floor and Honda service on the next. they never stick to the scheduled times they give us for procedure. i'm assuming since we are inpatient that we're not going anywhere but with their forgetting is that family members have rearranged their schedules so they can be present for those procedures. Total disregard for family members and their time.

Yelp
The most horrible experience in hospitals that we have ever had. PLEASE use Baptist Hospital while in San Antonio. I was going to write a long review, no point. My 76 year old mother went in emergency for possible food poisoning & diagnosed w/ Pancreatic cancer. Staff was nice but they lack staff in general, knowledge was low, communication was zero. I'm not from here so it was challenging to pick a good place to take her. They couldn't get her out the door fast enough. Speaking from a business standpoint, terrible service and no follow up. AGAIN TAKE YOURSELF OR SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT TO BAPTIST HOSPITAL!!!!!

Yelp
The nurse that takes care of my grandma her name is Yuliana IS NOT SO GOOD, she takes forever to come help my grandma with anything but when someone else needs her she leaves the room then comes back. Then at that the front desk lady for floor 4 has attitude with answering the help button, so i gave attitude back and she snapped out of it and talked to me regularly. At that YULIANA took FOREVER to clean my grandma up as well, we came to visit her and found her dirty we called them multiple times till they finally came to clean her up.

Yelp
Went in for BP of 139/79 , chest pain , shortness of breath and tingling hands. They didn't bother to even hook me up to a pulse monitor . They didn't bother to hook me up the AFib machine which they in fact have on the 3rd floor (st 350) ! I was sent home in 3 hours even after my description of symptoms and iWatch data. I am going to see a cardiologist next week and I will pursue malpractice suit with the results I Know I will get back. Incompetent. Don't go here !

Yelp
I am a retired physician. Yesterday I was really ill, with chills and fever, and just feeling really bad. My daughter took me to Methodist Hospital, at my request, , because over my many years of practice I felt that it was the best hospital in the medical Center. I may have to change my mind. Yesterday, when we got there, I was placed in a hard, rigid chair that had some wheels. It was not a wheelchair. I did have an electriocardiogram done. And then we sat there for over two hours Had no attention from anybody. No nurse no physician nobody at all. I got impatient and forced my daughter to bring me back to where I live. I suppose I will get a bill from the hospital, for occupying their chair for over two hours. And also for the ECG. Anything more than that would be redundant.

Yelp
The doctors are arrogant and have terrible bedside manner. I'm glad the nurse leaders were there to make me feel better about my visit but I still wish I would have told them to discharge me before I had a procedure done because it was hell afterwards. I do not recommend this facility. Go elsewhere.

Yelp
Ethan was great ! He helped me so much with my liver transplant it was a amazing experience

Iryana H.

Yelp
Had my daughter here & she was needing heart surgery and landed in the piccu. The nurses & doctors were angels to my sweet Penelope, treated her as if she was theirs. I couldn't have asked for a better team.

Yelp
First let me talk about the bad, that way you can see what I didn't like: The valet system they have going on is atrocious. Despite being able to see my car parked a mere 30 feet away, I was unable to go get it while and instead had to wait 25 min while the two ladies working the desk looked for someone else's missing keys and the two young guys going and driving the cars up walked around extremely slowly as if no one was waiting on them. I've seen Marriott valet service workers busy their butts to get cars and this place was completely the opposite, slow, inconsiderate, and completely task saturated. They need a better system and kids with some hustle so women who just gave birth aren't sitting outside in the 100 degree weather with a newborn for 30 min because they "aren't allowed to walk to their car." As far as care, we had a great experience with the nurse staff in the labor and delivery ward. My wife's experience in the birthing suite was great and they gave our newborn son considerate and genial care

Yelp
I arrived in San Antonio from the socialist, overtaxed, bureaucratically corrupt, democrat cesspool state of Maryland on December 16, 2022. Two days later I found myself in the Methodist ER in Boerne, TX with a serious case of A-fib with RVR, (rapid ventricular response). EMTs arrived and transported me to the ER in Boerne, TX, and shortly thereafter I was transported to and admitted to Methodist on 7700 Floyd Curl dr. in San Antonio. In a nutshell, I have NEVER in all my 56 years seen such impressive, efficient, kind, caring professional healthcare services! The staff of Methodist hospital is impeccable! I was absolutely overwhelmed! I had been struggling with A-fib in Maryland since JUNE of 2022! FINALLY in November of 2022, I was tentatively scheduled for an ablation procedure in late February of 2023. Then I decided to relocate to Texas on December 16 and between December 19 and December 28, Methodist cardiac services and staff accomplished in NINE DAYS what Maryland healthcare services didn't even get close to handling for me in 7 MONTHS! Several times ERs in Maryland stabilized me, gave me a prescription, and sent me on my way to follow up with some doctor weeks or even months later! At Methodist, within a matter of days, I had an echocardiogram, CT scan, MRI, chemical stress test, cardio-version, medication changes, and finally the procedure I had needed all along . . . the ablation. Maryland needed 3 months to plan that . . . Methodist did it within a week! I hope A LOT of people read this review because it's more than just a testament to the professionalism and efficiency of Methodist Hospital, it's a testament to a state that is run in a manner that all states within the USA SHOULD be run! Maryland, (pop. 6,000,000), manages $71 billion in annual revenue with a huge percentage of that coming from personal income taxes. Texas, (pop. 30,000,000) manages $275 billion in annual revenue without going after personal income taxes. Notice also that Texas has 5 times the population Maryland does but slightly less than 4 times the revenue! . . . . and again, without utilizing personal income tax! And I can tell you from experience as a resident of the state of Maryland most of my life . . .the quality of healthcare and education in Maryland has become ABYSMAL! It's WAY beyond time for millions of Americans in states like Maryland to wake up, do the math, and demand to know . . . where is all their money going? If you live in a democrat dominated state, taxed into oblivion, can't get decent healthcare and, your kids are graduating high school unable to do long division . . . maybe it's time to make your voice heard and DEMAND fiscal responsibility for the thousands of $$$$ your handing over to your corrupt democrat handlers every year! "We The People" Thank you, Fred Brauer

Yelp
The nurses and staff at the labor and delivery department at Methodist Hospital are amazing! I had my baby at this hospital a couple months ago and everyone working there was so helpful. From the initial person calling me a couple weeks before my due date to make sure all my paperwork was in order, to the person following up with me after giving birth to make sure I was not suffering from PPD...everyone was so caring and you could tell they wanted the best for you and your family. During our 2 day stay at the hospital, I think we got to interact with 10 different nurses and they were all very nice and organized. After giving birth, I had some complications and the nurses were super quick to act and in a matter of second there was an entire room full of people making sure I would be okay. Frankly, that level of care is something you don't find everywhere and knowing that you have an entire team behind you after going through something so difficult is very reassuring. I feel very grateful for the entire team at this hospital and for what they did for me and my family.

Yelp
When you go to most hospital ERs, you roll up to a big red doors/canopies/ whatever and the EMERGENCY ROOM is right there: the focus of the ER entrance is medical help. At Methodist, you roll up right to the valet line at the main entrance! Is it the ER door? Who knows - all exterior signs point to the main entrance (where valet line is), but there isn't a giant sign that says EMERGENCY at the door. So, with luck, there are no cars in line and you can roll up to the doors without waiting for the valets to do their thing. However, you are at the ER so your luck is all bad and there is a line. After sitting in line for 5 minutes and you finally drop off your EMERGENCY patient, your patient then has to navigate down a corridor, thru a cafeteria, and stand in line at the check-in. You can leave your car with the valet, or swing around back to Floyd Dr, turn right, right again into the garage entrance area, grab a ticket, drive into the garage, find a spot, walk down, across the way, back into the main hospital, up the corridor, past the valet area, through the cafeteria to the ER to hopefully bump into whoever you dropped off. Whew. If the EMERGENCY patient needs a wheelchair or gurney, there aren't any at the valet/ER entrance. No one in the ER department can see the entrance so they don't know to roll a device to the person at the door. Once you get to the ER, the staff seems to be on top of things; they are quick doing check-in and triage so the patient won't spend a lot of time without at least someone looking at you BUT - you have to get the patient to the ER. If you plan to grab food at the cafeteria near the ER, keep in mind that there are people with all kinds of diseases walking thru the dining area to get to the ER. Another pandemic just waiting to happen... enjoy your sandwich! I have no idea what Methodist management was thinking when they set this up, but if you have a true medical emergency, go to any ER but this one. The management focus at Methodist must be the valet and cafeteria (money, money, money??) not the ER, because they are the first things you encounter- totally unsat!

Yelp
My son just went to ER with a broken arm and they just gave him medicine for pain and sent him to the house, and they said he can come back in 2 days due to short staff. REALLY. What kind of service is this...

Jeff K.

Yelp
Because my primary doctor is at Stone Oak Methodist and I went and had labs and an ekg. But this hospital can not pull up those results? And no one here including the lab supervisor is asking why not or giving a good reason why they cannot see those results. So no one cares that two hospitals in same system are not talking with each other. It will probably take a lawsuit to get this fixed! So ridiculous!

Yelp
I don't know what to rate bc I see great reviews then not so great. I went to Children emergency at 9:30 due to my 11 month old being exposed to COVID. The overall emergency room was clean & the young lady gave me gloves & wipes to wipe down my area. The staff was nice/ friendly. The only thing was the wait time. I didn't leave to 1:30a. One of the nurses told me the COVID test took 2 hours for the results but they wasn't going to make me wait but I still waited finally in the back around 12:30 and still no doctor. The nurse stated she didn't know where he was with seeing patients but someone should see me shortly. And she said this is what happens when you come to the emergency room. (Which is true) But I did notice & I've never seen this before. The lady in front of me was called right after she did her sons weight. They immediately were given a room. But I did notice they left the same exact time as me. I want to know if they go by insurance or was it a privilege thing bc I've never saw that in my life. (I hope to get a response from the hospital. Another question I have if the parking gates are up, do you still pay ? *Hannah thanks for reaching out and yes it makes perfect sense! Thank you

Yelp
Just Pick a Place not built during world war 2 where people take the time to actually read and communicate records. This is a dirty and old facility with elevators that are constantly broken and cleanliness standards that match their effort. (lack of) Medications are Rarely given on time and the correct medications are not passed from doctor to doctor due to antiquated systems or effort. Our family experience included visits to the 7th, 9th, 3rd, and 6th floors. I was informed that some of the issues were due to covid... remember the thing from 3 years ago.. There are some excellent physicians and therapists who work well in this otherwise abysmal environment. The Hospital Business makes money - Spend it on your Facility and Audit your broken process Good Luck ... if you have family here, you better pay attention

Yelp
Are you kidding me?! Where do I begin? How about with the fact that your hospitalist did not prescribe my mother's home medications to be given to her upon admission for a minor routine procedure. This sent her into a MAJOR medical crisis that almost (probably should have) killed her. She went through major serious withdrawals from two medications, each one of which is extremely dangerous to quit cold turkey. As this crisis unfolded NOBODY from your fourth floor called the family, despite the fact that you had 2-3 family members' phone numbers. By the time we were notified that my mom went from vibrant, 'with it' elderly woman to a state of semi-consciousness "making strange noises", it was too late to fend off the crisis. After what was now 6 days without her medications, she was rendered catatonic and unable to be aroused or her muscles moved (rigamortous -like). It would take another 4 days for her to wake up from this state and two more before she could speak any words. During this doctor-induced crisis, she had been moved from the fourth floor to the MICU on 7th. Nobody from the hospital called us to tell us that she had been moved from the fourth floor to the MICU or that anything had happened to her., It just got worse from there: the staff punctured her lung from trying 6-7 times to put a feeding tube in, which was only needed in the first place because of the ridiculous cocktail of drugs they had in her. We stepped in, cut those off, and she woke up. (My family includes a medical scientist and two RNs), which thankfully was able to intervene. Someone had left a tourniquet on her arm from blood draw and/or i.v. Insertion for an unknown length of time and it was only discovered by another nurse (not hers at the time) when her hand was blown up the size of a blimp, weeping fluid from skin and discolored.. She is still unable to use that hand, her right dominant hand, two weeks later. Instead of being in and out in 3 days, per the usual routine, my mother has been there for going on three weeks and is recovering from what the hospital ENTIRELY caused. We are now taking turns living there around the clock to guard her from your incompetence.

Yelp
I had the most traumatic experience here. The staff was incompetent and unapologetically annoyed by my presence. Audible sighs and wtf whispered as I bled all over the floor, did I mention this was an ER visit, not a fast food lobby. A doctor and technician had trouble knowing general anatomy location, among other mishaps. This was traumatic and humiliating.
