Metro Diner

Had the chicken and waffles, they were as I expected them. Not too greasy not too dry and just right. The waffles were fluffy and made to perfection. Was in the mood for a stronger coffee as it was light, not to my liking. I’ll grab a beer next time. My waitress was superb.

Everything we had was good. My breakfast burger was the best out of the three items. Followed then by the shrimp corn chowder. The service was very good, and the atmosphere was a dinner feel. This may be advertised as a dinner, but it is one step up from your regular Mom and Pops place, by food and price.

Food was so so. My avocado breakfast sandwich had brown avocado and the toast was burnt. Home fries were dry and not hot. Server was nice and place was clean and had cute deco but food was lacking luster at best.

Metro Diner offers a cozy atmosphere and friendly service that makes you feel right at home. The staff is attentive and eager to ensure a pleasant dining experience, which is definitely a highlight. However, the food, while good, felt somewhat underwhelming and reminiscent of cafeteria-style/ Mess Hall meals. The flavors were decent, but nothing particularly stood out or left a lasting impression. Overall, if you're looking for a comfortable place with great service and satisfactory food, Metro Diner fits the bill, but don't expect a culinary adventure. A solid 3.5 out of 5!

This is a place that my husband and I do like to visit from time to time. The food is always great. The staff are nice and friendly. & will answer questions and give suggestions. We have never been disappointed with the Metro diner. If you are looking for a great date night, even a lunch date or just a place to hang out with friends, I highly suggest the Metro diner. They have a really nice variety of food. Sure, to please pretty much any appetite. I apologize for not having pictures.I don't always have my phone with me and sometimes even when I do I just simply forget, but I do hope you check out the metro diner and enjoy a great meal.

I ordered the chicken platter yesterday for take out. When I got to work and opened it almost all the chicken was burnt. The person who cooked this had to see that it was burnt but clearly decided to still sell it. Hope it was worth losing a customer over it. Opened it in our break room so my coworkers were also able to see it too with the bag that has Metro Dinner on it. Not sure if you lost some potential customers from that.

So I came here with my mom because it was not a place I'm familiar with. Our server was Nick, who was a very pleasant human being. Off his recommendation, i went with chicken and waffles. I'll also note that this is only the second place I've ever been to that gives you spicy syrup. My mom and i agree that the food was amazing, and it definitely made the stop in Jacksonville worth it.

My first time here this morning and I was very impressed! The staff was very friendly and the owner or manager was at the door greeting everyone and helping run the food for staff. I love seeing that. I ordered Avocado toast with eggs and it was delicious! My friends ordered the meat lovers and protein bowls and the chicken and waffles and all were generous portions and beautifully presented when served!

We stopped in for dinner before a concert nearby. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our server was so pleasant and chatty. Really enjoyed her! My husband ordered breakfast which is why we stopped in. I got the loaded burger bowl and it was amazing! I love the option for a bowl. It was different and tasty!

Out with my friend having lunch today. Really cute diner and great staff. The young lady that sat us was so sweet and she had us sitting in Lindsey's area.. Lindsey was our waitress and she kept good eye on us, filled our drinks and gave us time to chat before we ordered. You can not ask for better waitress!! You can order breakfast all day or chose something else from the vast menu. It was hard to chose but I wanted breakfast my friend wanted fish and chips! She substitute Cole slaw for decent sized side salad which only cost $1 extra.. it was quiet today but we came late morning. We were not rushed by any means and Lindsey brought us Togo boxes when we finally decided we were done. Really cute place with good food and pretty big portions. I saw the order of chicken and waffles go to table behind us and it was huge! I highly recommend giving it a try there's something for everyone.. next time I go I wanna do the mimosa flight!! lol

It's not bad it's not great. It's just another chain breakfast place that doesn't season anything. The biscuits are hard which happens to be one of my fav things. :(. The service was good. Friendly. The restaurant itself is smaller and very close together!

Busy! But we got seated within three minutes. Waitress was nice and once I told her that it was our first time then she gave us additional information. So I would suggest that you let her know if it is your first time, otherwise not sure that she would have said anything about the menu. She gave us plenty of time to look over the menu but we had to wave her down to take our order. Don't get me wrong, she was friendly and sweet but not attentive. Maybe she just had too many tables. I had the Philly sandwich ($12.99) and it was VERY Good. The cheese melted in your mouth and the meat was tender and flavorful. I asked if the coleslaw was made there and she said yes, so I got it. It was good but could have been colder. Maybe it sat under the lights to long, or they leave some out for serving. My daughter had the chicken salad sandwich with fries, which she liked. Not over the moon but good. I took a bite and had to add salt. Daughter had half and half tea but we had to flag her down our girl to get a refill and she had no idea what she had. We told her half and half but she ended up bringing back raspberry tea and unsweetened. We then could not find our waitress to correct it and had to ask another one if she could help us. The second waitress was a little rude but brought back the perfect tea. We were done and sat for awhile until we finally were able to flag down our waitress. So, bottom line, busy, be patient, food good, and atmosphere similar to a Denny's. There is a sign by the front that says that Guy from DDD came in to the store in Florida.

Stopped in Sunday night on a dreary evening . Greeted swiftly . Our waitress Abby was awesome . Had the metro club and it didn't disappoint . My wife had a salad . I'd highly recommend metro , always a good value and great food !

So it's hard to judge a restaurant on your first try, because you don't know if they're short staffed certain foods didn't come in and everybody's taste and preference is different. This place did not disappoint me, I've been wanting to try it and it reminded me of a diner in Atlanta, Georgia. This place is really clean. The hostess and the waitresses were amazing. The food was excellent.. kudos to the Chefs!!very large portions with the carryout box. And the best thing of all, I didn't have to cook.

Love Metro. It may be a chain but it's the closest thing we can get to a diner in Jacksonville. The food is always good even when ordered thru Uber/Doordash.

I've had my eye on this place for a little bit now. The decision to finally go was well worth it. We were greeted right away and sat. The waiter was quickly to our table and had our orders to us. The food was cooked well and tasted great. The prices are not bad for what you get. The inside is open and appealing to the eye. The noise isn't bad inside and it seemed to be very clean. Their sanitation score is pretty good also. The only bad thing I can say, they need to be easy on the grease. The bacon and hash browns were soaked with it. The food still tasted great.

Food and service were good. Way too much food for me to eat! Diner was not overly loud like some places. Had an enjoyable breakfast! 4 stars only because the pancakes had very few blueberries and tasted as though they used lemon extract instead of real lemon which left an aftertaste.

Food was excellent-hot, generous portions, great coffee! Service-quick, helpful, friendly. Ambience-diner atmosphere, friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Food was plentiful but cold! Would've tasted better if waffles, hashbrowns, and home fries were hot. So disappointing. Service was good with cafe atmosphere.

I went to metro for the club asked for crispy French fries got half cooked fries sent them back it took 15 minutes the cook came with the new order and they were the same half cooked fries , all ready finished my sandwich then the waitress never checked back with us had to ask for refill on our drinks terrible food and service for $45 I'm done there

Stopped in for breakfast and the food and service were excellent. We were sat down immediately, placed our order quickly and the food (4 meals) was out within 5 minutes. There was plenty of staff as well, 4 different individuals came by to check on us. The best part... pricing was phenomenal, far better than Cracker Barrel! If you're looking for a great breakfast spot check them out. We'll be returning!

Went with a friend. Huge portions. Good food and service. Its a little cramped in there but it seems typical of breakfast places.

I thought it was time for an updated review as it's been open for several months, and I went? Opening weekend. We did get seated right away, I noticed food Likes to sit under the warmer. I went with my husband and 2 children. My littlest said that the eggs tasted funny they didn't taste like regular eggs. I ordered a waffle, and they had some fruit on it. No, I watched my waffles set under the heat lamp. For 9 minutes, by the time I got to me, the plate was hot. The waffle was not for a $13 waffle. I would expect it to be hot. The food itself tastes like a came from a waffle house, but the prices are. Hi, for what? You personally don't waste your money. Go to Cracker Barrel if you want breakfast.

Sunday morning breakfast in less than 45 minutes! Seating was quick, service was outstanding and the food was delicious. Can't believe on our travels to Jacksonville we have tried this place before. This will be our new go to spot!

Today I stopped at Metro for lunch. On the outside the place is pretty nifty looking. The server who seated me gave me only a breakfast/brunch menu. Was seated at the counter where I got to watch the ladies do their dance of the chef. They moved with precision and great communication. Jennifer the lovely counter lady hooked me up with the lunch menu. I got a hot chocolate with whipped cream to start...because it was chilly out. Came out perfect with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. For lunch I had the tangy chicken bowl. Not a fan as the rice was over done and soggy and the chicken was a little too crispy. I did enjoy the sauce however! Jennifer and the owner tried to remove it, but I ordered it so I paid for it. Not their fault I'm a picky eater. They did give me a coupon to try something else next visit which I will do. Excellent folks and the food next to mine (chicken and waffles) looked delish. Recommend for breakfast or brunch.

Absolutely amazing!! The staff is extremely nice, we came during a busy morning and were sat within 20 minutes. The food was absolutely amazing! Definitely recommend to people visiting from out of town.

Hostesses did a great job greeting & getting ppl sat by bussing tables soon as customers left. Soon as we got sat our server Marisa came over and was very friendly. We mentioned we were in a hurry and she quickly took our order and brought our food within 10 mins! She came by to check on us and brought us our check. I initially checked the menu on Yelp and found the menu items very appealing. Our food was delicious. The restaurant appeared to be efficiently run and staff looked happy; always a good sign that they like their job and customers inevitably will receive great service. We DID!! So thank you Metro Diner! Our first visit was on POINT! We will definitely return to try out some of your delicious sounding entrees!! Please acknowledge our server, waitstaff, hostesses and cooks for a doing a superb job. I say this from 10 yrs of experience working in the food industry!

Yummy! We stopped at this little cafe on a recommendation from a local and it didn't disappoint! Our server, Jennifer, was friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable! The food was hot, prepared perfectly, and timely for our large party. I highly recommend you try this nice little cafe for your next meal!

I stopped in here with two 6 year old boys. I always like breakfast anytime so I had the Eggs Benedict and one boy had the pancakes with sausage. The other boy had the cheeseburger and fries lunch. Everything came out quickly and was very good. The entire staff was very friendly.

Stopped in the day before Christmas Eve as my husband and I were picking up our son from Camp Geiger. Walked in and we were a bit worried about how long we'd have to wait for our food because it was pretty busy. We were greeted by a lovely young lady named Victoria. She seated us quickly and took our order. Within five minutes we had hot coffee and delicious breakfast. We will most certainly return.

We just moved from San Diego, Ca and ordered dinner from door dash. The food was fantastic! We tried the turkey dinner and chocolate cake was really good! I can't wait to go to their diner and try other foods!

Service was very good! However, the food itself was average at best. My English Muffin on the San Fran Benedict was not even toasted.

Wanted a little something different then eggs for breakfast, so ordered the french toast. Didn't realize it was made with flat slices of croissant. When it came to the table it was the grossest mess I had ever seen. The egg was wet all the way through the hugest pile of dough and when I pulled the crossiants apart there was nothing but raw egg dripping through them. YUCK and double YUCK. I did get the meal for free as the waitress realized I was going to eat it and came and picked it up while I had gone to wash my hands. My husband told her I couldn't eat it. So, I drank my coffee while I waited for him to finish his eggs. I should have just ordered eggs.

My husband and I love this place! We come here very often in the mornings for breakfast. The food is great, the first time we came here the English muffin my eggs Benedict sat on was hard and I had to use copious amounts of salt and pepper on my food, but we gave them a second chance and they've only gotten better. The breakfast steak bowl is great, the burger in a bowl lunch option is delicious too. The service here is always wonderful, I've never had a bad experience with any of the staff. We are always promptly seated and attended to. I love the checkered floors in here and decor, it really gives off a 1950s diner experience. My one and only complaint about this place is the smell coming from the back left of the restaurant by the waitstaff and cooking area. It smelled like we were near the restrooms which we were facing. It was a bit off putting. Other than that, this place continues to be my number one breakfast place

So I've eaten here twice in three days and both times my sandwich was so filling and delicious that I couldn't finish my sides. The coffee is fresh ground and probably the only restaurant where it doesn't need tarted up with sugar to hide the bitter taste of sitting around. I highly recommend getting something to eat with their strawberry butter even if its just toast, its addictive.

Food is great very unfortunate that the coffee is nasty and your served water with milk because it doesn't even taste one bit like coffee. I asked the nice waitress and she said unfortunately everyone complains about how bad the coffee is. She changed it but same. Lol I'm giving it a 3 because I love my breakfast with a good cup of coffee

The food was delicious! My husband and I had Fish and Chips! Service was impeccable. Our server was adorable and so spot on containing care of our needs. Her name is Kirsten and she was happy to attend too all of our needs!

This restaurant does a brisk business on Sunday. The service was very good and the food was delicious. I posted a picture of my Eggs Benedict which were cooked perfectly.

Chicken and waffles were phenomenal!! Service was prompt and courteous. Restaurant was clean and bright. Look forward to going back and trying more off the menu.

Hands down best diner in the area. Food is outta this world. Be prepared to wait as they are almost always busy but it is definitely worth it. They have specials that continually change and help keep the menu fresh. Service is always good and they keep it moving very well so usually no too long wait for table or food. Plus they have all day breakfast.

The food is PHENOMENAL and the staff is sooo polite! Trinity is literally the best! I only came once before and she remembered my drink from the previous time. The decor and music really sets the tone for this place. I had such a great experience sad to be moving to an area without one of these diners!

Food choices are great, service is very friendly but I'm not returning until it's been open for a while, because the wait to ridiculous...90+ minute wait for breakfast and about the same for lunch time.

We first discovered Metro Diner in Pineville, NC. It was wonderful in every way. So we were excited to see one opening in Jacksonville. We've been probably 10 times since they opened. Some days the food, specifically omelets are good, but too many times we are disappointed. I guess it depends on who's cooking. But today, as we were waiting for our breakfast, we smelled burnt toast. To my surprise, that toast arrived at our table. It's my opinion that if I was bringing that plate to a paying customer, I would have not presented the over done toast. My omelet was ok, but the other breakfast is still causing unpleasant memories of our visit today. The burnt toast shows a lack of concern for us. Conveys the waitress could care less. Whether that is true or just an oversight, I'll never know.

Maybe don't go 2 hours before they close. The fried chicken was a bit too salty and overcooked, and seemed like it had been fried much earlier in the day. Nobody else at the table was super impressed with their food either. If the meal had cost a lot less at a little greasy spoon diner I wouldn't be quite so let down but driving by seeing the place packed everyday and the pictures, descriptions, and prices shown online had me expecting a lot better than what we got. The proportions were substantial but this is definitely a case where quantity could not make up for mediocre quality. The service was great, though, so there's that.

We absolutely love Metro Diner! We come here quite often and the service is always top notch. The wait staff is always super helpful and friendly and our glasses are never empty. The one time I ordered something they were out of, the manager visited the table immediately and made it right. They are always busy for a reason. We've yet to have a bad meal, and the cooks always deliver a perfect over medium egg. Waffle House even has problems with that one! We will continue to come back as often as possible.

The first time my husband and I ate breakfast at Metro Diner, it was excellent. We had the bissel breakfast. The grits were thick, the bacon melt in your mouth crispy, the eggs perfectly cooked and the hotcakes tender. The waitress was attentive ensuring our coffee cups were filled and we lacked for nothing. It was quite a different experience this morning. We ordered the same breakfast since we liked it so well the last time. We sent back the grits because they were so runny. We received hash browns instead that were crispy on the top and raw in the middle. The eggs were hard cooked and difficult to cut. The bacon was teeth breaking hard. The hotcakes were too tough to cut with a knife. The English muffins were good. The waiter was pleasant but not too attentive. He told us to call him if we needed anything but did not linger nearby. We did not get any refills on our coffee. The total bill was $35.78 What happened to Metro Diner to have such a difference from one visit to the next?

Good food and drinks but not very service dog friendly. I was told by staff twice that having a service dog affected their sanitation standards and was watched the entire time we were at the restaurant.

Good food at a reasonable price and great service especially for newly opened restaurant. We plan to go back often.

Service was not bad. Pleasant server. I saw a lot of meals that looked pretty good. I just wanted a simple lunch so I chose the grilled cheese and fruit on the side. Nothing special. I watched as my sandwich sat under the lights for several minutes. (Ended up being dry hard toast) Apparently waiting for fries (which I did not order) cheese on sandwich was thick an melted nicely. Fruit cup was no different than one grabbed off Publix shelf. So not horrible, just not impressed. Will probably go back, but overall cost was not worth the meal I received.
