I stayed one night at this hotel, and under no circumstances would I ever stay again. Yes, as many reviewers have reported, the front desk staff is quite nice. I agree with previous posters’ assessment. However, there are problems that cannot be overcome by any front desk staff. ||Frankly, the rooms simply are not cleaned well. I hope/believe the sheets were cleaned, but that’s where any evidence of cleaning ends. Luckily, I traveled with my own travel size Lysol so I could clean all the sticky rings on the bedside table, the bathroom surfaces (fingerprints all over the faucets and toilet handle let me know they hadn’t been cleaned or even just wiped). Furthermore, the amount of dust on the phone and on all the flat surfaces was shocking. Back to the bathroom: various kinds of hair on the shower walls served as evidence that the shower hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned. Also, hanging by the bathtub was a used towel from a previous guest. I requested new towels, which took a very long time to arrive. Let me assure you, housekeeping simply doesn’t care. ||This room was over $300 for the night. In no way was it worth it. And, yes, I said something to the front desk. In certain they’ve heard it before.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights and it was a wonderful experience! David was at the front desk to check us in and he was incredibly friendly and personable. He gave us all of the information we needed as well as some great recommendations on things to do during our stay. Every employee that we saw in passing was also very friendly and made it a point to say hello to us. We ordered room service, which arrived very promptly and was delicious. Our room was beautiful, comfortable, and clean. The hotel is in an excellent location, right across the street from a parking garage. There are a lot of places in walking distance, and there are a lot of Uber drivers in the area making the wait time for a ride almost nonexistent. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and will definitely be back in the future!

Great Stay with a Minor Quirk Overall, an awesome experience at The 9 in Cleveland. The food was fantastic, the service was top-notch, and the ambiance throughout the hotel was stylish and memorable. It definitely lives up to the hype. That said, one heads-up for travelers: the bathroom setup in the rooms is very open. In my friend’s room, there was no door to the bathroom at all—which got a little awkward with multiple people sharing the space. My room had the shower right in the main living area. Fine for a romantic getaway, but maybe not ideal if you’re in town with friends for a concert or a game. Still, the positives far outweighed the quirks, and I’d absolutely stay here again—with the right company.

The hotel location was good. The room was a little bit outdated but clean with a good bathroom. My AC was not working during the whole stay. The technician had to come on three occasions to fix it over and over again. It still didn’t work after couple of hours. Moreover the room was never made up before 5-6 p.m. (after calling three times and complaining) and it seemed like they were short of staff. Feel sorry for the cleaning ladies/men. Also they didn’t confirm restaurant reservations or if the room was ready when we checked in. And after all, we booked two rooms and they only had one in the system so we needed to book another one for a pretty high price. Price value is definetly not the best in town.

A Stylish, Unforgettable Stay at The Metropolitan 9! From the moment we arrived, The Metropolitan 9 impressed us with its beautiful design, spotless rooms, and unbeatable location. It's the perfect blend of luxury and comfort. The rooftop bar quickly became one of our favorite spots—breathtaking views of the city, paired with delicious food and expertly crafted drinks, made for the perfect evening. But the true hidden gem is downstairs in the Vault. Stepping into this speakeasy-style bar feels like traveling back to the Roaring 20s. The atmosphere is electric, the drinks are phenomenal, and every guest is treated like a VIP. If you're looking for a place that combines elegance, fun, and unforgettable vibes—this is it. Can't wait to come back!

Had an excellent stay here. Staff was very helpful (let me check in quite early), and the rates were very reasonable. I would say, the rooms can use a bit of a facelift on some of the furniture and TVs, but outside of that, really was a very nice experience! Super cool bars and lounges as well, and all in a very central downtown location. Would definitely recommend!

One of the worst hotel experiences I've had – completely unacceptable for a property of this price point. We stayed here over Pride weekend and were excited for what we thought would be a high-end experience. Instead, we were met with a string of frustrating issues and a complete lack of communication or service recovery. I had called the morning of check-in to confirm when our room would be ready and was told it would be available at noon. When we arrived at noon, we were told not only was it not ready, but that we never should have been told that. We came prepared to change in our room before Pride, store a valuable housewarming gift securely, and enjoy our stay. Instead, we had to get changed in a locker room in the basement, with our belongings left with the front desk. We never got a call or text until 5 p.m. – an hour after standard check-in time. So not only were we misled about early access, we were actually checked in late by hotel standards. When we finally retrieved our items, we discovered that the paper bag containing our brand-new, bottle of 818 Tequila (a housewarming gift) had been switched, and the bottle was missing. After asking around, a supervisor finally admitted it had been broken that morning, and no one had contacted us or even planned to – their exact words were, “If you came to me, I would’ve told you.” No apology note. No call. Just silence – until we asked. I had to submit my credit card statement just to prove the value of the gift they damaged – an invasive and bizarre requirement for something that was entirely their fault. After all of this, the "apology" was an offer of 10,000 Marriott Bonvoy points — despite me clearly stating I don’t stay at Marriott properties and would rather be compensated directly. On top of the disappointment, the situation caused a significant time inconvenience. We were forced to rearrange our plans, locate and purchase a replacement gift last minute — all while trying to participate in a busy weekend of events. We didn’t have the card we had thoughtfully written, the specialty wrapping we had prepared, or the original bottle we had carefully chosen. What should have been a simple and celebratory moment became a stressful, rushed scramble that could have been avoided entirely with proper communication and accountability. For a hotel that markets itself as luxury, this experience felt like the opposite. Late check-in, broken personal property, no proactive communication, and no meaningful service recovery. Would not recommend. You’re better off at a hotel that values its guests and knows how to handle mistakes when they happen.

The 9 in downtown Cleveland is hands down the best hotel / place to live with easily the safest and most central location downtown Cleveland has to offer. I lived downtown for over 5 years and I have seen it all nothing compares to this hotel and all the amenities it offers. The roof top lounge is easily one of the best views in Cleveland day or night. The food is great, drinks are incredible, staff is so welcoming and the hotel is so so clean. The vault is an underground lounge bar and no matter where you sit you feel like you have VIP experience. Absolute best part is the location, it cannot be beat. You have the best grocery store you’ll ever step foot in right next door, amazing coffee shop copper moon across street, 2 of the best restaurants in downtown betts and marble room just 2-5 min walk away. Do not hesitate to live or stay here. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
A very nice hotel centrally located to downtown Cleveland attractions and public transportation. Two issues. The daily incidental fee of $150, the same as the room price is a major deterrent for me. I was here for a business trip and I don't drink so having to pay an incidental fee of ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS to cover the potential use of the Patron, Uncle Nearest whiskey, and all the other liquor in the mini fridge is a turn-off. Also while the layout and spaciousness of the room is very nice and well appointed, I found it difficult to eat or work as the only sitting available is the couch and coffee table. There is a spacious bar in the room. A nice bar chair would have made my stay much more productive and comfortable. I would have loved to utilize that bar space to eat and work. Instead, I sat on the floor under the coffee table to eat and work. Nice hotel. Outrageous daily incidental. Could use a bar chair. I would return if visiting Cleveland- although not very likely at all if not for the incidental fee.

Yelp
This hotel is an imposter. They tout they are a luxury hotel when in fact the overall work quality of the staff is poor, especially at the front desk and housekeeping. The hotel is maintained but barely. Further, they say this is a hotel for the business traveler but there isn't even a desk in the room nor a business office to conduct work as a option. I worked off of a glass coffee table hunched over. What's worse, they don't even refill the coffee pods in your room. You have to ask daily for them to refill. Most business travelers want a morning cup of coffee in the room even if they plan to go to Starbucks afterwards. There's also no refrigerator in the room only a mini bar fridge. Overall, I've had better service at a Hampton or Holiday Inn. Save your money and stay at a hotel on Euclid Avenue between 9th and 1st Streets. You'll likely be better off.

Yelp
I've stayed at Metro at the 9 several times. The hotel is nice, the rooms a clean and spacious, and the location is fantastic (walkable to a ton of stuff). My most recent stay was in March when I was in town for a Cavs/Celtics game. At checkin my room was prepaid by the group I was with and I gave my credit card just for any incidentals. I enjoyed my stay and checked out the next morning with no issue. Several days later I saw a charge on my credit card from the hotel for $300+. I didn't use the mini bar and didn't charge anything to my room. Needless to say I was a bit puzzled by the charge. To date I have not received a bill via email or in my Bonvoy app. I have absolutely no idea what the charges are for and have verified that the charge for the room itself was paid by the group I was with. I've left several messages for the accounting department with zero response. I stay at Marriotts on a regular basis and this is by far the worst customer service I've had at any Marriott location. Buyer beware if you have any issues with your stay here you will have a tough time getting holding anyone never mind receiving a response.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place better. Yeah it is hip and swank, the rooms are good and the showers are great etc. It has a pretty new super fast elevator system and the Vault night club/bar is super cool. But.... Staff are pretty feckless and undertrained. Unable to make simple restaurant suggestions. Unable to pull up my bill in the morning. They tagged me with $150 a night incidentals fee on check-in which seems ridiculous. Went to eat at their in-house steak restaurant which was half-empty and told no table was ready.I was kept waiting for 10 minutes & ignored until I finally walked away (yes I was sober & well dressed). Lobby vending machines broken. The room had a Keurig machine with coffee with no cups and no mugs. Nothing to drink out of and the entire room with the exception of a single rocks glass. (?!) Nice looking mini bar fridge with goodies but the astronomical prices are nowhere to be found. The valet parking is $50 which is offensive even in the Joe Biden inflation era. Does have a certain pretentious style but then of course it seemed to be full of pretentious guests who think they are alot cooler than they are. Meh.

Patty M.

Yelp
Stayed at the hotel for work. The hotel itself was fine. Challenges started after the stay. They did not send a copy of the bill. They also did not post to my Marriott account. When I called their hotel they left me on hold for 20 minutes. I got the bill and they added a $100 plus mini bar bill. I had a water. When I called back they put me back on hold and then told me they would look into it. still waiting for their manager to call me back. Do not recommend for business travel.

Yelp
Stayed 1 night on a weekday. The good: modern interior, heat lamps outside the hotel during the wintertime, multiple bars located within the hotel. The room is nice, very romantic. The shower is located in the middle of the room & you can clearly see the person showering inside. I would recommend sharing a room with someone you're comfortable with for this reason. This would not be a good hotel to share a room with a coworker for example. Water pressure & temperature are on point! The bad: no outlets near the bed - what's up with that? It's impossible to charge a phone with a regular sized cable while in bed. Valet is expensive - nearly $50 for overnight parking so 0/10 experience there.

Yelp
Really liked this hotel. The room was spacious and well designed. The bed was comfortable. The atmosphere at this hotel is wild and in a good way. The staff was friendly and helpful. Valet was excellent as well. I'll definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Recently went on a staycation to the 9 and had an amazing time. This Marriott Bonvoy brand hotel offers stylish and sophisticated views from the lobby to the rooms and even the on sight restaurant and lounges. Me and my husband stayed in a King Suite that featured a deep soaking tub, a walk in shower, a couch and fireplace. The bed was comfortable. We dined at the on-site restaurant Centro which was AMAZING! We also had drinks in the Ledger lounge which overlooked the lobby and also ventured off to the lower level and had drinks in the Vault. This hotel is also in the heart of downtown Cleveland near the Cleveland Guardians field (baseball), near the Cleveland Cavaliers Rocket Mortgage Field House (basketball), restaurants such as Marble Room, night life and so much more!!

Yelp
One of my favorite Autograph Collection hotels! The atmosphere is electric, the staff is pretty good, and the rooms are great! The mini bar is back, but apparently not in every room. Valet service was quick and responsive despite being in high demand! This is my go to hotel while in Cleveland. Close to casino, Guardians, Cavs, Browns, Rock n Roll, and more!!

Yelp
The room was very new and very clean. Staff were friendly and informative. Try the Ledger bar upstairs. We loved that it was near a Heinans grocery.

Yelp
I have been a Marriott fan for years & out of all the hotels I've stayed at, my LEAST favorite so far is Metropolitan at The 9. NOTE: This was a mini vacation to celebrate my acceptance into my doctoral program. CHECK-IN: I always book my hotels in advance & every hotel has honored my government rate with id, but NOT the 9. Instead for fusing or being upset, I asked if they could meet me halfway with the price since finding another hotel on such short notice would be an inconvenience. Instead the young lady suggested I try another hotel. I decided to stay one night then leave the next morning. THE STAY: The room way spacious, nice & clean; however, there wasn't a towel in sight. Also, no fridge or microwave. I decided to order room service late that evening. The food arrived at a good time, but the delivery guy forgot a few items & charged me for things I didn't request. I didn't notice the additional charges until after receiving my hotel bill. The rooftop bar was nice & the bartenders were great! There was a young guy helping people in the lobby area who was great! Him & the rooftop staff are the ONLY REASON I'm giving this 2-stars. CHECK-OUT: After checking out & arriving to a different Marriott location (NOTE: The service was better there). I noticed I forgot my Pandora Box full of jewelry at The 9! I called the hotel & they said they would look into it then call me back. Unfortunately, I had to call them back & go to the hotel! Long story cut short....as of today they have not came across the box, after I told them exactly where I left it. THIS IS THE CRAZY PART: I spoke with one of the staff members (maybe a manager) who informed that if it was stolen by the housekeeper there would be no way to know & they are not responsible for lost or stolen items!!! I cried!!! That Pandora bracelet holds so much meaning & the fact that it was possibly stolen by someone who works for the hotel makes me even sadder! They can keep the box, I just want my bracelet. I will also send a complaint to Marriott's Customer Care department. I had such high expectations for this place. I'm more sad than upset.

Yelp
I have been going to this space every time I have been in Cleveland since before the Pandemic - between The Vault downstairs and Ledger up on the mezzanine level, there is always something to do, something great to drink and someone fun to meet here. Thank you for this awesome experience over and over again - we will be back

Jacob S.

Yelp
great service all the way around. Brandon the bartender at the Vault great dude. talked to us , showed us around and made we were ok not drunk. He also makes the best Old fashion drinks.

Yelp
Okay hotel - car returned from valet parking with smashed out windows. Overall I would not recommend this place but let me start with the positives. The folks working there were wonderful and the hotel and room is clean and very stylish. The room we had would be great for romantic stays - bedside lighting on dimmers and a glass enclosed shower in the room next to the bed which some might find sexy. This would not be a good room for a business trip or to share with anyone but an intimate partner. There might be room layouts with more privacy. Apart from the nice bedside lighting there wasn't good lighting in the room, there were no lights at all in the room's seating area. There was a conspicuous lack of amenities for a hotel at this price - no fridge or minibar in the room, no breakfast, no pool or hot tub. I can't remember if there was a coffee maker in the room. The most serious issue is with the valet parking. The expectation is that your car is kept in a safe location when paying for hotel parking, but as other reviews indicate and the person running the valet parking confirmed, car break-ins at the garage the hotel uses aren't uncommon. Our car was returned to us with a completely smashed out back window. We were given a claim form for their insurance which made it seem that the damage would at least be addressed and taken care of - but their insurance rejected the claim as "vandalism" which they say isn't covered. Dealing with a damaged rental car is a very disappointing way to spend limited vacation time. Paid valet parking should be secured and damage to cars in the hotel's care should be covered.

Yelp
I'd say that Metropolitan at the 9 is a very modern hotel going for a "sultry" feel. You could certainly stay for business, but a lot of the touches seem to have more of a romantic and couple's design versus the standard "utility" of a business hotel. Expect deep reds, a see-through in-room shower, erotic-ish bodyscape art on hotel room walls, and more. Fantastic for a getaway or couples, but probably not the best choice for staying with coworkers on a work trip. We'd definitely come again in a heartbeat. It has its downsides, but it's all-around an amazing hotel. Protip: If you don't want to share elevators with groups of people, ask for a room NOT on floor 12. (Rooftop bar is located on 12.) (Review updated for changes in 2022 including new "trendy" rooftop bar and removal of all in-room purchases) PROS: -The rooms are gorgeous as well. Each room feels extremely luxurious and well-decorated. The room was extremely clean, and everything felt spacious, luxurious, and very, very nice. It definitely felt like a room that was a treat to stay in. -Hotel was nicely-located downtown. It's walkable to quite a few restaurants - including the Southern Tier brewery. There are some coffee shops and other places that are simply walkable too. If you wanna valet your car and not touch it your entire trip, it's definitely possible. -The hotel has Cleveland's only indoor dog park. Up on one of the upper floors, the dog park is a cute, large indoor hallway for dogs to run around. There's a waterproof area for bathroom purposes, and they ask you to clean up any non-water messes. The place was pretty spotless while we were there. It's not the prettiest thing you've ever seen, but it's a really cute addition to an urban building, and it definitely works as a large running space for a pet. There are benches for the humans too. -This hotel is equipped with a ridiculous amount of elevators. I think it was either 6 or 8. You pick your floor, and it directs you to the elevator you need. We never waited for more than a second or two for an elevator the entire time we were there. -Staff was super friendly. The front desk staff welcomed us every time we came inside. When we were using a luggage cart and moving our own stuff, multiple staff members offered to do it for us. -SO many food and drink options right in the hotel. I think there's four bar/restaurant options right inside your own hotel. For people trying to avoid COVID, the in-room dining is pretty much the full restaurant's menu - and the rooftop bar and patio restaurant are all open-air. -The ONLY hotel we've been to in the last year still offering daily room service. Staff respected the do not disturb sign though. CONS: -So, the glass shower within your room is either a serious "pro" or a serious "con". There's a stand-up shower that's located in the middle of the room that's clearly visible from all sides. It has frosted panes, but you can definitely see the bits of the person who's showering in some angles. I'm actually really confused why they would include it standard on double-queen bedrooms - where you're likely staying with strangers or groups. In a King room, it makes sense. There isn't a privacy curtain (unlike the similar version in the Chicago EMC2 Autograph hotel), so if you're staying with non-intimate people, I'd recommend having a gameplan for having people leave the room while others shower. For intimate partners, well, it's definitely a really nice touch to the room. -The nearby area is a little rough. If you walk one block one way, you'll be in a busy, hopping part of town. If you walk one block the opposite way, building's windows are boarded over and everything is abandoned. -The rooftop bar is very, very hopping and trendy. This isn't necessarily bad, but it depends on what you're going for. The muted colors and calm music of our 2019 visit has been replaced with bright colors, an insane amount of staff, and loud pop music - including the fact that many tables/chairs were off-limits to a party of two and there was hostess seating and a waitlist the entire time we were there. -Valey is pricey at about $50 a day. You can most definitely self-park easily (lots of parking garages in a two block radius), but definitely check online reviews and safety procotols to try to ensure your car will be safe. -No in-room recycling "trash" cans. That was odd. -The in-room AC/heat is really weird. As far as we could tell the entire time, it doesn't have an "off" mode. It will constantly try to get the room's temperature to the posted temperature on the thermostat. That sounds nice in theory, but in reality, it means the heat ends up blowing sometimes in the middle of July if the temperature drops below your posted threshold - making you want to turn down the temperature even further. It's definitely a constant game with the thermostat. It's definitely very effective, though. If you stand in various parts of the room, you feel that heat or cooling instantly.

Yelp
Good location and helpful staff. Our room did not have a desk and the very opaque glass shower wall is near the bed. Neither of these quirky features was an issue for us, but others may feel differently.

Yelp
Upon returning to the hotel late Saturday, a raging party was happening on our floor (8th). People were congregated around the elevator banks waiting for anyone going to the 8th floor, so they could tag along with the guest's key card. The smell of marijuana was wafting throughout the floor, and the party and guests had taken over the hallway and 3 rooms. It was wall-to-wall people in the hallways. I kindly asked some of the participants to move away from our hallway area, but the noise and the smell of weed were inescapable. I went down to the front desk and patiently asked if something could be done. While I was assured that the matter would be handled, the party continued all night. All night. I called the front desk around 2am and again around 4am. Nothing was done. We checked out at 5:30am to get to an early flight. The party was still in full swing. When we went to check out at 5:10am, the morning desk manager was astonishingly rude. Gaslighting me - "What party?" "No one smells marijuana on the 8th floor" "You never called to complain. We have no record of that." - I was stunned. (The front desk employees clearly had to hide their own shock at how he mishandled things, as they knew that many complaints had come in throughout the night.) But this manager shrugged everything off - even as two women stumbled past us in the lobby - one naked and wrapped in a hotel towel and the second in her underwear - at 5:15am. I asked to leave word with the general manager, but never heard back. This hotel is far from "luxury". I left at 5:30am having not a minute of sleep, but clearly with a 'contact high' from all the weed.

Yelp
We stayed there last weekend for our 10 year wedding anniversary. After checking in and going to our room (904) we noticed that the bedsheets and three of the four pillows had blood on them. Additionally, the sink appeared to have a used fake eyelash on the countertop. We had dinner reservations and stopped at the front desk on our way to eat to ask for fresh bedding and pillowcases. We tried to be discreet and say we noticed someone's blood, or what appears to be blood, was on the bedding and pillowcases. Could we have those items switched while we're out to dinner? The receptionists response was: "Was the blood there before you got to the room or after"? Our response: "No ma'am. It's someone else's blood and we would just like it removed. Additionally, the sink had a large fake eyelash on it. Could someone please take care of that area as well"? Upon returning from dinner we went to drop off the leftovers in our room and then grab a drink at the vault downstairs. When we got to the room we noticed that the blood stained pillows were replaced with brown stained pillows. I thought I was being pranked or that they just flipped the pillowcase inside out. Nope. It was a different pillowcase. It just had brown stains on it. We returned to the front desk showing them the new pictures of the replacement pillows. We and the group at the front desk had a collected "gag" moment guessing what the stains might be and then we asked if someone could just get us fresh pillowcases as these were clearly stained as well. The receptionist advised me that when we first drop by they checked in on the question of replacing pillows and "there were no more clean pillows in the hotel". So they apparently switched pillowcases but used a clearly stained set of pillowcases as replacements. We asked what could be done? They advised that they could get new pillowcases. Wonderful! That's all I wanted in the first place. They seemed troubled that we would not be waiting in our room for housekeeping. We advise them that I stacked the three stained pillows on the foot of the bed. And that we would love it if they could just switch the pillowcases for the three stained ones while we were out. We went to the vault had a drink and came upstairs. Upon entering our room we found three neatly folded pillowcases in front of the TV. They couldn't even switch the cases for us. My wife joked that we spent $300 that night so that I could switch the pillowcases (something that I don't even do at home). Happy 10 year anniversary sweetheart! Obviously, we wont be staying at the nine again. I don't recommend you do either. ******* How ironic. They gave me the same cookie cutter response that they gave my wife on her TripAdvisor review. And in neither case did they actually do what they said they were going to do (kind of like actually giving us clean bedding). They never actually reached out to either of us. This is literally more frustrating than had they not responded at all. It's like they're more concerned with covering up terrible service than on improving their service. More focused on the appearance "of making things right" than actually doing right. This embodies their lack of service during our stay. More about making a show of things then anything else. The term "lipstick on a pig" kept coming up during our stay. From not being able to just give us clean pillows to duct tape on the seats in Adega's booths to the pretentious repeated uttering I kept hearing (& read here) of "that's not how we do things here at the 9". Well, let me assure you. From my experiences with them. That's exactly how they do things. From afar it looked like a great place to visit. But staying there proved very different. But at least they've been consistent.

Yelp
I'm a Marriott guy and every so often I'll try out an Autograph Collection. After my stay here, Metropolitan at the 9 may just be my favorite Autograph Collection in the US. Downtown Cleveland has a lot of historical buildings and this is one of them. The hotel's theme blends the old style feel with modern day accents. Speaking of modern, the hotel elevator system is activated by your room key using a centralized card reader just outside of the elevators. It then directs you to what elevator to take and only gives you access to the floor of where your room is. The entire staff provides supurb service and is very helpful. There's an excellent lounge called the Vault underneath the hotel. There's also a full, well-equipped gym. In addition, boxing classes (which is also excellent) on Tuesdays and Thursdays is available and is adjacent to the gym. There's no Concierge Lounge but there is an exclusive lounge which provides similar complimentary food and refreshments if you upgrade your room package. They're open 24 hours and always have beverages and snack options available. Breakfast and dinner is provided during those hours and during dinner alcohol is provided complimentary (beer, wine and spirits). The food options at dinner are plenty. Sandwiches, wraps, cheeses and crackers and desserts are standard every night but there is an additonal menu (that changes every night) as well. From tacos, mac and cheese, chicken wings, barbecue, etc., if dining in is your choosing, you'll be left satisfied. Did I mention the complimentary alcohol?

Yelp
The low rating is for two reasons: (1) we had to wait until very late to check in because housekeeping was running behind and (2) they don't offer daily housekeeping service. They use COVID as the reason, but I find that hard to believe - this is a property that a lot of guests are in close proximity of each other and virtually no one wears masks - so don't tell me COVID is the problem. It's a high end property and I expect to have my room cleaned daily. On the good side - the restaurant and front desk service is great! Very friendly. The rooms are very nice looking.

Yelp
What a great location and a beautiful hotel. Front desk was so kind. Bartender at Ledger bar was awesome. So many pros and would definitely stay again. Easy walking to everything. Some things to be aware of. Frosted glass shower. Don't consider this if you're sharing a room with a work colleague. The lobby noise from the Ledger Bar above can be very overbearing. Rooftop bar service is aloof and confusing. Water takes a long time to warm up in the shower. As a Californian, I felt so guilty watching all this cold water get wasted as I waited. I would definitely recommend this hotel when staying in Cleveland.

Yelp
We enjoyed staying here! Great location downtown Cleveland and lots to see and do within walking distance. Check in was quick and the associates were very nice and helpful. We met Ryan and Holly and they both were very friendly, professional and we could tell that they enjoy their roles. We received a comp upgrade as Gold members and that was appreciated. Our room was nice and clean. We did not have a good view since we were on the 12 floor which was not high enough over other tall bldgs. Unfortunately, while the room was clean, it was a bit dusty and seemed like it needed a good, deep cleaning. We were only provided one small bar of soap so we had to use it at the sink and the shower. That was quite disappointing! The rooftop bar/restaurant was great! We didn't eat there but I would have enjoyed a few of the happy hour appetizers which were priced right, however, we ate at a local restaurant since there are many places downtown to eat! The elevators are modern and it feels safe at the hotel. Oh, the shower set up is quite different and not private at all, so, if you are not a couple, that would likely be a problem. It was just fine for us, though, and I actually liked the modern design. There was no coffee maker in the room which was disappointing and we didn't know about the comp coffee/tea in the lobby until we checked out. I did go to the grocery store for a salad and snacks that is directly next door which is very convenient.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown Cleveland. I was upgraded to a suite which was spacious, with an open concept bathroom and a sizable living space with a second TV and a fireplace. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was spotless. They offer complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby and have an enormous gym! Most hotels (even 5 star hotels) neglect the fitness center, but this place did not. The location is perfect to walk to many restaurants and city sights.

Yelp
Short: failed wildly on the expectations front. Long: I've written before about the combination of expectations and experience. I had no expectations in Springfield and Toledo, and had great experiences. Had high expectations at Nobu hotel in Miami, and they were met. At the 9, RSRV, not so much. I had originally reserved a king suite. However, after reading about the RSRV "ultimate luxury hotel experience" several times, I decided to spend $300 more than my suite for an RSRV room. (The descriptions in quotes are generally from the website. They aren't mine.) The website also claims that the RSRV level is, "our exclusive, first-class level with enhanced personalization and VIP treatment." So, my expectations were understandably high. The hotel is easy to find. Valets were nice, but they put a big scratch in my rental car! A lovely headache that will follow me home from my business trip. (The valet's office has a map with several "hot spots" on them. Upon inquiry when I was filing my claim, I was told those are spots that are areas that valets need to be careful for fear of damage. Nice) Aside from that, Nick, the valet manager I dealt with, was nice and professional. I checked in on the app and let them know when I was arriving. I still waited at the front desk for 10 minutes to get my key, because the only person up front went to the bathroom. Really. The hotel site also boasts, "amazing views into progressive field." That might be true, unless you get one of the two RSRV rooms on the wrong side, and then you have a view of, well, nothing. (I posted a pic.) Make sure you don't get room 16 or 17. The room itself is fine. Nothing to write home about. On the very annoying side is the bathroom door. It's constantly in the way. I finally left it fully open, which is only slightly less annoying. The problem might be limited to my room. I don't know. The fridge is full of stuff you have to pay for, including the soda I get free in the lounge. (I'll share my thoughts on that later.) Let's talk about the lounge. Billed as having an "exceptional menu" by their executive chef. Also boasts "premium liquor", complimentary. The reality is that it's a (barely) glorified concierge lounge. (If that's what they called it, I would not have changed my reservation.) The afternoon hors d'oeuvres were falafel and lamb skewers (see, pic). They were okay. The "premium" rum was Bacardi. Other booze was similarly one notch above well. Not really premium. Breakfast in the morning was the same pre-made scrambled eggs and bacon in every concierge lounge. (See, pic.) Heather, around during happy hour, was very nice and personable. The guy in the morning didn't say one word. Also, the guy in the afternoon on day two didn't say anything, so I had to guess at the menu. (See, pic.) A final note from the expectation versus experience department. I've felt zero in the personalization/VIP category. A suggestion: try making the experience FEEL personal. Leave a welcome basket. Take out the pay fridge and stock it with things you give out free in the RSRV lounge. Leave a bucket with ice for a new guest. (Because of the lounge, you have to go to a different floor to get ice.) Put better quality product in the bathroom than you have in the rest of the hotel (i.e., a different brand). Maybe a robe in the room. One last idea (from my stay at Nobu): let RSRV guests order room service from any restaurant in the hotel. And make it easy to do so. I used to SHOUT at the wind. Now I YELP about it.

Yelp
The service and staff are exceptional! Teddy went out of his way to accommodate all of our needs. His gracious smile and kind spirit was very refreshing. We planned a girls weekend down at the Nine and asked for adjacent rooms and extra linens, they were happy to accommodate very quickly. Richard,Will and Spencer were also very kind and greeted each one of us with a smile. Can't say enough about the staff... Really!Customer service goes a long way and the Nine doesn't hold back. In these difficult times it's wonderful to see that people still go out of their way to make a difference. Thank you, we will surely be back

Yelp
What a place to stay! Heard this was the trend forward hotel in a Cleveland, and I heard right! My best friend and my sister stayed with me in a room with two beds, lots of space and exceptional customer service. The rooms were sexy, fun and spacious. Teddy at the front desk provided us with anything we needed and made our stay easy and exceptionally enjoyable! Thank you to Teddy and the rest of the staff for their hard work. We will be back! Also: ate at the hotel restaurant, Adega and enjoyed the Vault bar downstairs Both go highly recommended!

Yelp
This is the BEST HOTEL in downtown Cleveland hands down! In fact, my experience has been consistently 5 STAR with all of the Marriott Autograph Collection Hotels that I've stayed at...The Metropolitan at The 9 clearly meets and exceeds this upscale, hipster, beautiful Autograph Collection standard! We were upgraded to a gorgeous high floor corner King suite with sweeping views of the city! Talk about great walking proximity to Everything - Progressive Field, many many superb restaurants and bars! Hotel parking is valet only so we were lucky to leave the car in the hotel garage and walk everywhere. Remember the Metropolitan at The 9 if you are seeking a great place to stay in Downtown Cleveland and take in all the sights!

Yelp
We had tickets to the masquerade party at the 9 in the Vault it was our first visit to the 9 Metropolitan and I have to say it was a delightful surprise, compared to any club on W6th. The club itself has a cool design with all the old vaults and seating areas. The hors d'oeuvres were great! The kebabs a favourite. The desserts also amazing with bacon cream puffs and pumpkin cream cheese mini cakes, we were all pleasantly surprised. They were mixing top songs in a show tune manner that was fun and enjoyable. The staff were on point, everyone serving and working were all very courteous and accommodating to me and my friends. We had a great time and definitely will be visiting often, can't wait to come in this summer and check out the rooftop bar. A+++ great experience

Yelp
Not ideal for business travelers - no desk and reeks of swingers club feel. Art work is all of naked women, room is dark and what's worse - DIRTY. My trash can had a woman's makeup debris; I found a hair on the edge of the bed. The room itself just looks "rough", chipped furniture, dirty cracks, oh and the patched wall in the entry! Room service - the bottle of Tabasco sauce was OPEN. Sadly, I didn't notice this until I had already picked through the breakfast. Also, the English muffin is more of a dense bread - not light and fluffy if that's what you are expecting. Also, expect an additional $5 delivery fee, plus tip included. So your $15 omelette me coffee just became a $42 breakfast. I would not recommend this place unless you are coming to get laid or party.

Yelp
Very Friendly staff. Centrally located. Comfortable bedrooms. Unique decor. Shoeshine man John, in lobby, was superb. Fast elevators. Close to everything. Literally next door is a gourmet market.

Yelp
Great customer service. My room was spacious and beautiful. I like this place. There are two bars and a nice restaurant in the building. Cool boutique hotel.

Yelp
I haven't met an Autograph property I didn't love, and The Metropolitan is no exception. Upon arrival I was kindly greeted and checked in as well as informed of my room upgrade. Rooms are modern with comfortable beds, large TV's, big bathrooms and lovely lemongrass products. Everything on property is cool, from the hotel name to the dining and bar options to the rooftop lounge. During my stay I enjoyed in-room dining which was tasty and timely. I had a drink on the rooftop lounge which features downtown and lake views, and the highlight was cocktails at The Vault, showcasing the former bank vault in a cool array of rooms you can choose from to settle into. Great location, modern design, and very good service made for a perfect stay.

Yelp
I wish I had been here longer than one night! I loved this hotel. Very trendy and modern. The check out was quick and efficient. I was invited to a welcome reception via email which was kind - I was not able to attend. The hotel seemed to have a cool bar - The Vault. If I am back in Cleveland I would definitely stay here!

Yelp
I absolutely Love this hotel! The staff and accommodations are spectacular! I took my mother and aunts this past weekend as a retirement celebration. It was their first stay and they thoroughly enjoyed the room! Thank you to the manager and staff for making this family memory so very special!

Yelp
Perhaps my experience is a one-off occurrence, but after having an absolutely unacceptable check-in experience, I felt the need to review. Hopefully, for those planning to stay at this property this will make them aware of potential issues and for any Marriott Bonvoy staff that may read these forums, some useful feedback. Let's start with the pros of this property: - Great location downtown, walkable to many wonderful restaurants and attractions. - Updated, modern, and spacious gym. Now on to the main issue for my post, check-in and room availability. - Prior to arrival, I requested to use a suite upgrade certificate (I am a Titanium Elite), which was confirmed a few days before. The day before arrival, I placed an early check-in request via the Marriott app for 1:30 PM. - Arrived around 1:45 PM to be informed by front desk agent #1 that early check-in would not be available, and that hotel check in time was 4:00 PM. Advised that we would be contacted by text/phone when room was available. No issues with this, that is what is published. Left property to explore Cleveland. - Around 4:15 PM, no word, so contacted the property to be told that a room was still not available. - Checked again at 4:45 PM, advised that room was still not available. - At 5:00 PM, went back to the property, in person, to inquire about room status. At this time, desk agent #2, who appeared to be a manager, advised me that "4:00PM is the start of when rooms would be available" and that there is "no guarantee when a room is available." I countered that this would mean, theoretically, if there is no guarantee, they could not give me a room at all. At that point, I was offered a choice to wait for my original room (with *no* guarantee or estimate of when the room would be available) or accept an AHA/wheelchair accessible room. Since I needed to make it to a business dinner at 6:00 PM, I begrudgingly accepted the AHA room. No compensation was offered for the room change or non-availability of my booked room. A separate, but still irritating issue, was the valet wait time. I called from my room to request my vehicle be brought up, was informed that it would be 10 minutes. 34 minutes later, I received my vehicle. I understand COVID has seriously impacted staffing in the hospitality industry. I have had stays where there are delays, but the key difference in those instances were that: 1. Expectations were managed properly/better. For example, tell the guests at check in that valet may take 30+ minutes due to short staff and to call in advance. If rooms cannot be cleaned in time, tell the guest upfront that there is delay in housekeeping due to staffing, that the room booked may not be available on time, and pro-actively offer options or compensation for the inconvenience. 2. The staff apologized and at least understood that they were not delivering to published expectations. In this case, I was stunned to be told by a front desk manager that there is no such thing as a check-in time, as if I were in the wrong. I hope no one else has had an experience like mine, but if you have, I think all we can do as frequent travelers is provide feedback and hope that management notices.

Yelp
This hotel looks very pleasing to the eye but it is very inconvenient. If you are looking for just a place to sleep and shower it does the job but there is no room service, coffee maker, the fridge was locked and I was not given access to use it and the sheets on the bed are horrendous. Do not recommend this hotel for more then 1 night.

Yelp
We had a nice stay here and the staff, particularly Eddie and G, were very kind and helpful.

Yelp
Good hotel, has a few downsides for a business traveler since there is no desk, but overall good experience...EXCEPT..My only real complaint is that housekeeping DOES NOT adequately vacuum the rooms. Upon check-in, they said housekeeping service was suspended. This comes across as they change the sheets and clean inbetween guests but they obviously do not vacuum the rooms or even the common areas on the floor. Walking around barefoot, I had tons of hair and lint stuck to the bottom of my feet in our room. GROSS!! I asked the front desk to have our room vacuumed the next morning while we were out and they never did. So disappointed in the lack of cleanliness for this reason and total disregard for my request. Restaurants & Bars: rooftop bar is great and a good evening experience. Don't waste your time with the Legends Bar in the 2nd floor. Bartender was not attentive nor cleaned off our table from the prior group. We walked out and went to the Adega Bar on the first floor. Much better experience.

Yelp
People who will not like this hotel: business travelers. People who will like this hotel: weekend party people. I get that this is an "urban" hotel but I wasn't super impressed with the fact that all of the hotel employees were wearing plain clothes, except the valet. I usually dislike super pushy bellmen, however, this trip I did have quite a few items so I did need assistance up to my room. I had called the night before to request a refrigerator for my room and was told its a $25 upcharge (which is CRAZY but I was willing to pay for it due to dietary restrictions). I again requested a fridge upon arrival and was told it would be provided. After a 45 minute wait, I called to check the status, only to be told they were out of fridges and I could use the mini bar fridge if necessary. So currently there are 6 beers sitting out getting warm while my food is in the fridge. Not super convenient. They do offer the honor bar in the room with drunk snacks (nuts, chocolate) similar to Vegas hotels I have stayed in. The minibar is pretty well stocked with drink selections if that's your gig. The room itself is ok, except it does not have a desk. As a business traveler, I'm currently typing with my laptop on my lap. The bathroom is very open, with the glass shower right next to the bed. The toilet is in a closet so there is some privacy. The closet had 2 hangers, so its a good thing I'm only staying one night so I had 1 outfit to hang.

Yelp
SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BOOK ELSEWHERE! I spent a night at the 9 during the pandemic, and they were the most unhelpful, understaffed, ridiculous people I've ever dealt with at a hotel. It cost me $50 to get Advil pm. They won't bring deliveries to the room. Such a waste of money.

Sherri M.

Yelp
I stayed on the 4 th floor and directly next to me was the administrative office. From 5 am all day they go in and out and have no regard for the guests. There is not a desk to work on either. The staff is very nice so I hope they correct this issue. Fridge is locked so that's a bit inconvenient!

Yelp
Great hotel! I stayed here for my birthday and they definitely exceeded expectations! The room was huge and super trendy and modern. When they found out that it was my birthday, they sent a bottle of champagne up. The room service was great - quick turnaround and the food was delicious. The decor and unique detail was impressive and really made the hotel stand out as one of my favorites. The Vault bar, which is apart of the hotel is really cool and drinks are great.

Yelp
If you come during lunch time. Expect to pay $6 to valet park. We had chicken francesai recommended by prior reviewers, the Adega sandwich and chocolate Nutella hazelnut as dessert. Food is very generic. Nothing is worth mentioning here. Ambience is cool- big wall to wall glass windows, fancy decor, etc. but I can't eat ambience, can I?

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely magnificent with a hipster vibe! I want to go back to Cleveland just to stay in this hotel again!!! The staff were friendly , helpful and made you feel at home. The hotel is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Our room was one of the most unique and fun rooms I have ever stayed in and I've stayed in a lot of hotels. You will not be disappointed if you choose to stay here!

Yelp
Definitely the hot place to be right now. Contemporary, clean, sexy, right down to the art on the walls and bar napkins. I love the attention to details. If looking to add a little spice to your life, this would be the place! Bring your spouse for a sexy rendezvous! Or go stag and meet someone!

Yelp
My family and I stayed two nights (Saturday/Sunday) at the 9. Glad we did. We were in town for the Cleveland Browns / Green Bay Packers game. Hotel was clean and fun. Lots of energy in lobby. Rooms were quite (except for the usual drunks at the elevator) We ordered dinner with room service. Came on time and tasty. Bed pretty good and far better then the last series of Marriotts we have stayed at. Pillows ok Water pressure not great - maybe because of the rain shower No coffee in room but free coffee in the morning at the lobby. FYI - easy walk to Browns Game. No need to drive

Yelp
One of the swankiest spots in Cleveland, we stayed here for one night last summer. The rooftop is enormous and features views so nice that you'll wonder whether you're still in Ohio. It's affiliated with Marriott but doesn't look, feel, or smell like a Marriott (a good thing). Rates are comparable and the location can't be beaten.

Yelp
Boyfriend and I were in for an Indians game. We arrived quite early and only expected to valet our car and have bags checked. However the desk clerk told us our room was ready, but awaiting inspection. We headed to the rooftop bar, which we enjoyed many times during our stay. The room was clean and well appointed. We both agree that we'd stay here again and I've already recommended to friends.

Yelp
I've stayed here twice now. My last time was for the Kiss concert on St Patrick's Day.... Really liked the hotel both times. BUT this last visit I did valet parking overnight. When I got my car back there was crud all over my drivers side window. Looked like tobacco. Finally got around to scrubbing my window just to realize my window is covered in scratches, chips and a huge crack. Someone must have thrown their dip bottle at my car window while it was parked. You'd think your car would be safe in such a nice hotel. I'm really pissed. Also pissed it took me so long to realize it was damaged and not just dirty. I'm sure it's too late for the hotel to care, but now I'm stuck with significant damage to my car window.

Yelp
I recently stayed at The Metropolitan at The 9 during my time in Cleveland, Ohio. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the stay was absolutely amazing. It has a Vegas feel and décor as the decorations aren't your typical of Marriott. In fact, most of the people I was with didn't even realize it was a Marriott. That being said, it definitely matched up to the standards of the brand. As a Gold Member, I was incredibly pleased with every aspect to the stay. The Hotel Manager I worked with really helped me out as well. He went above and beyond to help me make it a special night for my guest. Again, great people, great service, great room, and you're in the heart of Cleveland. I'm definitely coming back. Other notes, this hotel reminds me of the Encore in Vegas. The somewhat see through shower is located in the front of the room. Again, it's not your typical layout which I find is an added plus.
