Austin Restaurant Closed in 2024 | Eater Austin

"Closed in mid-February; the space had a history of concept changes and previously operated as the group’s Spanish tapas restaurant before becoming a Tex-Mex spot. The location has since been taken over by a Thai–Chinese restaurant operating under the name P Thai’s Khao Man Gai." - Nadia Chaudhury

Really great spot for upscale Mexican in Bloomfield Hills. There are plenty of traditional Mexican restaurants across Metro Detroit, but not many that offer a more upscale, modern aesthetic with a solid cocktail program, and this place fills that gap well. The chips were excellent, thick and fresh, and clearly made in house. The salsas were flavorful and well balanced, though none were very spicy, so it may fall a bit mild for people who like heat. I ordered the burrito, which was very large and filling and overall good. That said, it leaned a bit too heavily on white rice, and the flavor came across somewhat bland compared to the rest of the dish. I ended up adding quite a bit of hot sauce to bring it together, which helped but felt necessary rather than optional. We also ordered the elote as an appetizer, but it never came out, we ended up cancelling it because our entree had come. I rated this four stars because while the food was good and the atmosphere and cocktails were strong, the burrito lacked flavor balance and the missed appetizer took away from the overall experience. Definitely a place worth checking out, especially if you are looking for a more elevated Mexican dining option. I will be for sure returning with my wife.

Well…Where do I begin! Let me first say food is usually what I rate in my reviews, but this time I’m strictly focused on the most insulting treatment I’ve ever received at any restaurant in my life! What started out as an awesome experience ended horribly. The food is actually amazing and my server was great too, but the manager made a horrible mistake tonight. After spending almost $200 at this establishment and while having an awesome conversation with the person I was with we were asked to move to another table by management to accommodate another party. Without going into detail about my race let’s just say we felt very targeted considering we were the only ones of my kind in the restaurant at the time. Mind you, as shown in the picture they have a whole floor that wasn’t being used that could have seated the party and empty tables behind us! The manager preceded to bribe us with a $25 gift card to basically shut up and move. We questioned why he asked us to move and nobody else. It wasn’t until my friend told him they’re an executive with Mercedes Benz and just had a Christmas party here he felt bad and gave us the mini drinks in the picture as an apology!! I’m furious and never want anyone to experience this kind of treatment!. But, I’ll never be back for it to happen again!!

My first time at this restaurant. TBH I'm not a big fan of Mexican food but went with a friend who recommended it. I got my standard default order of Steak Fajitas. My friend ordered the Wet Burrito. Hers looked great, mine was delicious. The service was great, attentive but not hovering or interrupting. This was actually a first date for us. After we finished our meal we sat and talked for almost two hours. No one rushed us as it was mid-afternoon and was not very busy in our section. So it gets my 5 stars. Great service, food and atmosphere. Definitely will go back. Remember, great service deserves a great tip!!

We got to go food that was on point as if we ate in the restaurant. Chips, 3 salsa, a quesadilla and birria tacos w/ rice and beans. Could almost drink the barria juice. Yum. Yum and more yum all around. I will be bringing daughter back next time i visit her to and trying a margarita and other menu items. Look forward to A future visit.

Fantastic menu specially good number of options for Vegetarias too. Must go for warm chips and you choose from over 4 different sauces to dip-mild, medium, spicy, queso or fresh guacamole. We had Curried Vegetable Tacos great taste and generous portion continued with Veggie Fajitas, would definitely recommend to try the side of Cilantro Lime Rice and Charred Veggies. The staff was warm and welcoming. Overall great experience with good and ambience.

3 out of 5 stars I stopped by MEX in Bloomfield Hills on a Monday night to take advantage of their all-day happy hour margaritas. My first margarita was fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. But when I ordered a second one, it tasted completely different. I asked about it and was told their margaritas are on draft and they had just switched over. Unfortunately, that means consistency isn’t guaranteed, which was a letdown considering how great the first one was. I ordered a trio of tacos—shrimp, beef, and chicken—and honestly, they were underwhelming. They weren’t hot, more like room temperature, and gave me the impression they’d been sitting for a bit. Maybe they weren’t, but that’s how they came across. On the upside, our server was excellent—friendly, attentive, and doing his best—but there’s only so much he can do if the kitchen and bar aren’t on point. The space is beautiful and unique (it used to be a Big Boy, which is wild), so I’m willing to give it another shot on a different night. Hopefully next time the food and drinks match the vibe.

Third time I've been here. Food is always good. I had chicken fajitas this time and they were so tasty!! Service was good. This used to be a boogie happening weekend night spot. So when I came in on a Saturday night and it was dead I was surprised! None the less, we enjoyed our dinner and my friend liked her drink!

EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! This was one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to in a while. The tacos were juicy, and the everything guacamole was amazing as well. My mocktail was also amazing. It was a little bit loud inside though; however, once we moved outside it was absolutely amazing. I wish they had a bigger patio/outside area. Anyway, the toffee pudding with the ice cream on top was also pretty good. Very sweet though. I definitely reccomend checking out this place. It's definitely worth getting your food from here ❤️
