Very American. The chicken tasted like canned meat. Enchiladas were dry and need more sauce. They had more cheese on top than meat on the inside. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, this is not the place for you! Waitress was nice.

The people who run this place probably believe that Cinco de Mayo is a true Mexican celebration. I have dined at many authentic Mexican restaurants, but I won't recommend anyone come here. I ordered the taco salad but it was more like ground meat topped with standard American version salad items. The avocado on top was pretty much tasteless. The overuse of green and black olives overwhelmed the salad entirely. I think they must have gotten cooks from Taco Bell. It's funny that a Mexican Restaurant is playing non-spanish music. You can tell if an ethnic-inspired restaurant is authentic by having the customer base include many people of that ethnicity. Not here! My wife is Costa Rican but we came because we saw a sign on the highway. She said her food was tasteless also. Many of the unsupervised workers weren't caring for customers. Poor managers!

11/15/24 our 1st time here. We were greeted and seated quickly. All the staff we encountered were pleasant. They offered complimentary chips and salsa both hot and mild. Very good salsa! Chips were fresh out of the oil and while crisp were still oily. I ordered bean and cheese burritos with beans for side dish, the other order was beef enchiladas with rice and beans. All food was brought hot and quickly. The beans didn't have the authentic smokey flavor we are used to, they tasted like canned. My burritos were the same except had a cheese melted on top. No sauce. The enchiladas were made very simply as well, the rice was lacking Spanish flavoring. I'll give them 5 stars for employees and the restaurant being very clean. The food I can't, it was hot temperature wise when brought to the table. But I have made better at home. Sorry but that's how we felt. We were passing through, don't live in the area.

Google
Our first time here, friendly staff our Waitess was super nice very tentative. Water is always filled..this place is very clean . Our food came out quick, hot freash .nachos was good, but we ordered the wrong 1. Tacos 🌮 are good, decent sized, but needed more veggies .fajita was good hot And yes, they charge you 3.8 percent on credit card charges. Used cash if u don't like the Xtra charge. I personally don't mind every place now they charge for credit usage.

Google
Love this place. The restaurant always seems to be very busy, so expect a little wait (usually no more than 15 minutes). The restaurant is always clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. You get free chips and two different salsas, one regular and one hot. The hot has some kick to it! This time I ordered the Chicken Tacos Al Carbon. They were delicious and they double the shells! I was just a little bummed they didn’t offer different kinds of sauces, but still a great meal. The prices are fair, as you can see on the menu. I’m definitely looking forward to going back in the future.

Google
The restaurant was clean, That’s the only good thing I can say about this place. Our meals came out fast but we’re both lukewarm. Tasted bland/canned. The salsa selection was basically spicy or not spicy tomato water. We did not finish our food and the waitress did not enquire about how are food was as if she already knew that it was bad. More than $40 for two terrible meals that we could not stomach.

Rebecca G.

Google
The food was good. I would go back just be more careful with what I order. When I asked for no beans I didn't realize the meat was in the beans and the waitress didn't say anything so that was disappointing.

Google
I came to try the Mexican sandwich— I had a spot I loved about 20 years ago in Detroit area whom made these, they were the best. Well these guys here definitely duplicated the meat and sauce such tender braised beef. I tried the guacamole it was good. I honestly did not care for the salsa though it was just juice not really chunky salsa that I’ve typically had. But wasn’t the worst I’ve had either. Great job on the sandwich.

Yelp
Our robotics team had dinner after their competition in Hartland last weekend. The restaurant was very accommodating for the large group. The food was great, the staff was great, and they had a wonderful experience!

Carrie A.

Yelp
WAY OVERPRICED! Fajitas were meh. 3 burrito meal was ok. chips and salsa were good. My son liked their braised beef enchiladas.

Yelp
Met some friends for dinner at Mexican Fiesta Hartland when we came to town for the Howell Melon Festival. We arrived at a good time because there weren't many tables available when we left. Service was decent and the same for the food and the ambiance. Prices were fair for the food quality and portion size. Due to acoustics, the noise levels grow as number of patrons increase.

Yelp
Service and food are always amazing! Big bar area with a lot of TVs and cheap drinks!

Saucy W.

Yelp
They quit buttering and seasoning their quesadillas. I used to go there ALLL THE TIME. I have since started going to the Wixom location instead wheee they actually care about the food quality leaving the kitchen. I hope they do better again one day but until then I'll be going to the Wixom location as it's only 2 minutes farther and provides a far more consistent customer experience. This saddens me as I have been a regular for over a decade. DO BETTER Fiesta! Do Better!

Yelp
Really good Mexican Food in Hartland Mi. The tamales are made well and delicious! You can get them topped with chili or not as you desire. The chips come to the table, warm with a couple types of hot sauce. One is really hot and the other one is mild. I generally have a margarita while I am there. On this specific day, it was Saint Patrick's day, and the margaritas were five dollars so it was a great bargain too! The service has always good here regardless of if I'm dining alone or if I come with a big family group. If you're in need of a Mexican food fix, I'd definitely would recommend this location. Who knew Hartland Michigan would satisfy an Austin Tex Mex craving when I'm far from home!!

Beth T.

Yelp
Tried Mexican Fiesta Hartland twice. Both times the food was bad.Ive gone to both Canton& Dearborn Hgts for years.Always very good.Im Latina of Mexican heritage Hartland very poor food& service. When calling manager, she was rude.I won't be back!!

Yelp
I revisited this restaraunt recently and it was a major let down. I hadn't eaten here in a couple of years having moved out of the area however I recalled the food being somewhat decent for Americanized Mexican cuisine. I met my family here at random for a quick meal and immediately regretted it as soon as I opened the menu. Terrible, non-traditional options, and all were way overpriced. 3 tacos for $17+ and Carne Asada Fajitas $21+ The menu was only the beginning... Chips and salsa were placed on the table and the chips were clearly not fresh having been "warmed" in the fryer prior to being placed on the table. The salsa was out of a can or a jar and not very good. The food we ordered was very basic, chicken tacos and carne asada fajitas, thinking it would be good due to its simplicity, we were vastly incorrect. The chicken tacos were deep fried corn tortillas with the chicken inside the tortilla held together with a toothpick. This making the chicken inside the taco taste like mushy grease. The carne asada was the wrong cut of meat all together and had zero flavor, not even a hint of salt a pepper. The fajita vegetables consisted of sliced bell peppers and onions that were "warmed" up and completely raw quartered tomatoes. The beans and rice served were another disappointment. The pinto beans were not properly prepared and most of beans were still whole and the consistency watery. The rice was dry and lacked any traditional flavor. The only decent part of the meal was the kids' plates, which was decent, aside from the rice. Then again, cut up chicken placed in a flour tortilla smothered with melted cheese is edible to most kiddos! We departed the restaurant extremely disappointed and rather upset about having paid $70 for a meal we did not like whatso ever.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time today. We were in desperate need of food (and a couple drinks) on our way up north; pulled off 23 and found Mexican Fiesta. Pros: Drinks are good (we had a Bloody Mary and Corona Rita), chips are hot, and the cheesy chicken tortilla soup is DELICIOUS- reminds me a lot of the Max & Erma's version (RIP). I'll go back just for that soup. Cons: We split a large quesadilla and it was crazy greasy. The melted cheese was all stuck together in oil and the chicken & veggies were chopped way too small, not strips like I'm accustomed to. I couldn't even finish one piece. The salsa is pretty bland too. The hot one has heat but both salsas could use some cilantro and additional seasoning. All-in-all, it was fine. Nowhere I'd go out of my way to visit. But like I said, the soup is delish.

Michael N.

Yelp
Food is amazing! Love this place. Chips and Salsa are off the charts. Owner is wonderful. We love this place and don't mind driving a little to get here!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
We live nearby and the place is always busy but that could be because their menu is so large with a lot of options for sit down. I've ate a meal here twice and really only come here occasionally just for margaritas and queso. Staff is friendly and the place is always clean.

Samantha T.

Yelp
Good food, good service. I would go back and get carry out or dine in. Free chips and salsa.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
I've been here several times (5 times now) and the most recent time will be the last. The first time I ate here the food was decent, nothing to write home about but it got the spot. It's the closest Mexican restaurant to my house so it was worth coming back. However, the last two times the food was just flavorless. The beans had a thick, mushy consistency. The rice was bland. The meat was bland. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce and even the tortilla chips were subpar. The margaritas were decent but definitely from a premade mix. The service was always good but the food is just not worth it. Meijer has better premade options, for cheaper. Maybe one day I will try again... but probably not.

Yelp
Stopped in while down in Hartland and highly disappointed in food quality. Plus the tables were dirty (even after someone said it was cleaned) and the floor was filthy with food droppings. We should have walked out after seeing the salsa served to us was basically tomato sauce watered down with liquid and barely any flavor. The waitress was very good and we tipped her accordingly.

Yelp
First time in a month since I've been in. New menus and new policies. I've been going here for years totally expected price increases and perhaps understanding paying for a second basket of chips.... However, a 3.8% surcharge for using a credit card.... Well, that's not cool. As a small business owner, I understand price pressures but this isn't the best way to address it especially since most credit card service providers charge significantly less than than 3.8%. Hopefully the Canton & Dearborn locations aren't following this model.

Yelp
I'm so excited to find this place. It used to be a favorite when we lived in canton. I've picked up take out 3 times since discovering it on my drive home from a new job. The food was just as great as I remembered and consistent quality too. I LOVE the hot salsa. Yes it's thin, just like it should be! I don't like chunks in my salsa! The milanesa is great, hubby loves the ground beef/been burritos. So good. Chips are fresh, and cost is . Don't miss this home made Mexican food. So much better than the chain food from the 3 friends, if you get what I mean.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Quality Tex Mex style food. I understand that this is 3rd generation owned. Original one is still in Dearborn Heights. Owner, Jose is very nice and accommodating. I ate the chicken fajitas and the beef and cheese enchiladas. Both dishes were so yummy. And portions are perfect. I took pics of some of their favorite dishes. Check it out! Tell them Brian sent you.

Yelp
I was underwhelmed as I am with all Mexican restaurants in the area. I decided to try this place out after a lot of people on another app recommended it. I ordered through DoorDash and that entire process was great. Food arrived nicely packaged, warm, and on time. I go the Hot Chips with mild salsa, Nacho Cheese Dip, and the Bean and Cheese Enchiladas. Hot chips are basically just tortilla chips. They were greasy. They tasted fine though. Not too much salt. The salsa had no seasonings in it. Tasted just like pureed tomatoes. Nacho Cheese Dip is different than the menu discription. The description said, "Warm melted cheese with tomatoes, onions, green peppers, and jalapeños." I know it was a carry out, but it was a glob if cheese (likely American) with no tomatoes, onions, or jalapeños. There may have been some green pepper in it. It was in a plastic container so I think they may just keep sauce premaid and stored so they can just throw it in a bag. Last is my enchiladas. They were not skimpy on the beans and cheese at all. However, there was barely any adobo sauce. They dip the tortilla in it, but the entire tortilla was not covered and there was no extra dripped off anywhere. The flavor was again, bland. Just eating a bunch or beans and cheese with nothing else. I may try again, but wait until restaurants are open so that I can go in. We'll see.

Yelp
Kindness goes a long way! The two greeters are the rudest people ever. They need some home skills. It shouldn't matter how busy it is or how many cooks didn't show up, you could be nice. And the manager type person kept coning and telling them what to say to people standing in the bar, and she was telling them rudely. Kindness.... pass it on. If not for Morgan, our very charming waitress, you would have gotten no stars. Poorly managed business but great food.

Tina P.

Yelp
The food quality has gone down. I have always ordered the ground beef chimichanga and it was always large enough for 2 meals. Now it's about 1/3 of the size, like a small burrito.

Elvin A.

Yelp
supposed to be a mexican restaurant but not really its fake maxican food the corn tortillas are gross
google avatar

Sheila Harrison L.

Yelp
We LOVE this restaurant. Have always had an exceptional experience here. Staff is fab, food is hot, even the chips are warm. A shout out to Jake and the other wonderful bartenders for making us feel welcome. You all have the best work ethic! We love you guys. See you in a few days! Thanks for the fantastic service and attitude. You're all doing it right! We'll keep tipping. Hopefully everyone else will too. XO

Yelp
My review of the unfortunate time my family and I had today, I am going to delete. I don't feel this review is too strong and will do nothing to improve what happened. I hope the young waitress listens better to her customers and learns to return often if something is needed. I hope the kitchen improves the quality of the good they serve and making sure it is served HOT not like warm to cold. I hope the next time, if ever I return, I do not meet the manager on duty. It made our Jan 15 visit a bad experience . A cold personality doesn't win customers. Instant offers of empathy and positive action to rectify the multitude of problems we had could have helped, I am saddened to lose interest in such a great place to dine.

Yelp
Usually great food. Last visit my food was cold. It was a little bit of a wait. Not sure why or how cooked food can be cold.

Robert P.

Yelp
Sat at our table for 10 minutes, not one server came. No drink order no chips no anything, the severs walking by didn't even stop to see if we had been helped. So we just got up and left as apparently they don't want our money or patronage. Will stick with Don Juan's in Brighton.

Yelp
My mom had been talking this place up so we headed to Hartland to check it out the newest location to a Detroit Tex-Mex legend. The decor was in full on Halloween mode and it was great, not the cheesy attempt some places make during a holiday. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our server Amanda was cheerful and efficient. We ordered a Boston Ice Tea and a glass of Pinot Grigio, both of which were generous pours and tasty. My mom ordered a small combo plate featuring a beef taco, an enchilada, and a bean tostada with Mexican rice. It must have been good because she ate most of it which is unusual for her. I asked if I could get a 3 enchilada platter, but one beef, one chicken, one bean instead of all of one kind and Amanda said "of course, we can do anything" I ordered just beans on the side as I'm not fond of Mexican rice. Having spent my college years slinging burritos in 2 different Tex-Mex restaurants I've got some opinions on Michigan-Mex. The beef enchilada was my favorite. The seasoning was just right. And they use an excellent cheese blend, which is really important. The beans are also really good. It was a lot of food and I ended up taking half home. Either that or... The piping hot tortilla chips! I ate way too many. When they come out too hot to eat that's the best. Lightly salted and served with mild and hot salsa. So good they didn't need salsa. I took the rest of those home too. Good place for a generous and delicious meal.

Yelp
Excellent food, friendly and great service all at a good value - highly recommend this place! I go on a regular basis

Kelly F.

Yelp
So disappointed. It has been a couple years since we have been as we moved away. The order was incorrect, the meat was incredibly fatty and grisly. We used to love this place.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
No bueno... I ordered the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. I will say the enchiladas were def cheesy, however, their idea of an enchilada did not include enchilada sauce... Secondly, the rice tasted literally like white rice dipped in grease, but with less flavor, if that's even possible... Next, the beans were colored gray... Now, I don't mean to keep harping on this cookie cutter, a dime a dozen, restaurant, but it was highly recommended by someone, and frankly I don't know what they were talking about. This was def not unique traditional Mexican cuisine. Asking for cilantro seemed to be far fetched for them and the original margarita tasted like sugar water with a side of salt.

Jakob M.

Yelp
Food is great, salsa is a tad watered down it seems, other then that, great service too! Blue margaritas are excellent

Bonny K.

Yelp
We had some wonderful food & margarita's as well. Our waitress was very nice & attentive . Can't believe they charge for extra chips tho.
google avatar

Taher J.

Yelp
The place is a kind of dirty. Menus had old salsa and the floors were sticky. The food was lukewarm and not flavorful at all. I got the chorizo and scrambled eggs and you would think it be some good, slightly greasy and spicy chorizo in there and it was literally plain sausage mixed in with eggs. No flavor or spice at all. The three other people I was with all had lukewarm to cold food. Our server was awesome though!
google avatar

Hollie S.

Yelp
Mexican Fiesta is a decent choice for the area. There are not any immediate competitors in the Hartland area that include dine in seating. The margaritas are good, the food is decent, but definitely not authentic Mexican. It's more of an "American-Mexican" restaurant. There are better options outside of Hartland, but if you don't want to travel far, this isn't a horrible choice.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
This place never lets us down. Grew up near one of the original locations in Dearborn Heights and enjoyed the large Botana then, and after our move to Southern California 20 years ago, enjoy it even more when we are back for a visit!

Alyssa P.

Yelp
service fantastic!! food is meh. actually to be completely honest I felt a little sick made my husband stop at rural king so h could use the restroom before we went home.

Andrew C.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant and a great family run business that does great things for the community.

Lynn T.

Yelp
I haven't been to Mexican Fiesta in quite awhile. it's My Favorite restaurant! I have all my celebrations here, 50 & 60th BIRTHDAYS. Last Chemo! Last Radiation! Retirement Party!! we decided to treat ourselves during the busy holiday season to an early dinner, December 20, 2022 for two dinners it was $38.00! (?) WHO CAN AFFORD THAT! Hamburger Beans Cheese Rice = $40?? Carry Out! No Alcoho! Straighten Out Your Pricing or WE WONT BE BACK!! Talk about a price hike

Amanda B.

Yelp
I regret having to write this review, as I grew up on Mexican Fiesta in Dearborn Heights. The Hartland location is a huge disappointment to the family that built this business from the ground up. The staff is attentive and are really nice people. A few weeks ago I ordered a dirty martini, I witnessed the bartender filling up the backbar olive container while making my drink, but didn't serve my drink with any olives. No big deal, So I asked for some olives. I then watched her stick her bare hand in the large jar of olives without a skewer. (The whole time I was was thinking, "no, no, please don't, please don't") Then tried to put the olives in my drink, but I blocked her by grabbing it with my hand instead, and left the olives on the bar. I was so disappointed, but it didn't stop us from heading there (not ordering a martini) last night for a margarita and dinner after a long day of work. We ordered the flaming cheese only to find not one long hair in it, but two! The bartender that night didn't question taking it off the bill, but honestly that wasn't the point. This will be our last visit unfortunately. I'd consider putting the staff through proper Serve Safe certifications before this location is out of business.

Yelp
This has become one of my favorite Mexican places locally to dine in. The restaurant is very clean and the service is always excellent! The offer an option of braised beef with their burritos. This is a big plus since I do not believe hamburger belongs in real burritos. I would suggest that someone avoids the prime dinner times, as you could find yourself waiting a very long time. Usually they have your food ready pretty quickly despite how busy they may be.

Jason S.

Yelp
So happy to have this place out our way!! Wish they were in South Lyon too!!! Best botanas around!!!
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
We were in the area visiting friends and this place peaked our interest. I thought the chips and salsa tasted vaguely familiar...and the menu items looked vaguely familiar. Wait! This must be somehow associated with Canton's Mexican Fiesta II! And it is. Ken's Wet Burrito dinner was tasty, and he liked the two smaller burritos vs one large one - more meat to gravy ratio. My Botana was delicious, every bit as good as the one at MF2. Good service. Yummy food. Clean interior, including the restroom. Sufficient parking. I would return when visiting our friends or driving past the exit.

Brenden M.

Yelp
Food is terrible. Pre made rice, food is barely warm overall not a good experience. But on the other hand the beer is cold
google avatar

Vanessa G.

Yelp
I went to this location on April 9th, 2022 around 1:30pm. The restaurant floor was filthy and kind of turned me off from returning. The floor had chips and other food on it as well as wrappers. No one seemed to make an effort to clean it up. One of the booths was falling apart and they started repairing it while people were eating. It was extremely loud and distracting. I will say our waitress Paula was wonderful. Super nice and had a great smile on her face.
google avatar

Cecilia G.

Yelp
We ordered online. I gave special instruction. We ordered takeout. I picked up early then time order was to be ready. We got home and food was cold. The prices are expensive for not getting warm fold, no salsa or sour cream, napkins. The burrito had large chucks of meat like a roast in it, not beef like ordered. Wolid not recommend. Will not go back. Very disappointed especially for the amount that was paid.

Abbie C.

Yelp
Always order chunky beef burrito always great meat very tender chips fresh and cooked just perfect, coleslaw great. Yesterday beef tough and chips overcooked coleslaw still great.
google avatar

Jenny S.

Yelp
This is Mexican American at its best. Owned and operated by families that immigrated over a generation ago, they know how to keep people coming back. You can count on fast service, gooey cheesy goodness and high quality ingredients. Don't forget to have a margarita!

Megan O.

Yelp
Wonderful place to eat with fresh food. The best thing on the menu is the shrimp fiesta bowl!

M G.

Yelp
We typically would dine here about once a month. First time back after a couple months. New menus with increased prices, no more unlimited chips and salsa and 3.86% credit card fee. We could have lived with price increase and charging for extra chips but with adding credit card fees as well, Sadly, We won't be back. Just can't afford it anymore.

Bob H.

Yelp
Love their fajitas and "Top Shelf" margaritas. Always fast and friendly service. Good sized portions and attentive wait staff.
