Peckham’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in Peckham and Peckham Rye | Eater London

"It’s not exactly a secret that Mexican Mama ─ one of the UK’s best wholesalers of Mexican produce ─ has a warehouse on the Philip Walk industrial estate. What’s less known is that it’s possible to just rock up and buy tomatillos, tortillas and the entire Jarritos range. What’s even less known than that though, is that every Tuesday or Wednesday brings a fresh delivery of tamales, either vegan (lentils, or spinach and green salsa) or chicken (both red salsa and green salsa). These are not tamales on the level of anything in Oaxaca, but they make good counterparts to the plain corn tamales more readily available at Colombian and Bolivian bakeries, and are excellent with a bit of salsa macha from ... You can't get authentic Mexican goods where I live which is North end of the Metropolitan Line but as I am in London a couple of times a month thought I would drop in here for a few bits having seen this place on line. Lovely little shop selling a nice range of genuine Mexican goods , both culinary & from a fridge plus drinks . Bought some proper corn tortillas , pickled jalapenos & a pepper sauce. Man working there was very helpful & friendly. Fresh Tamales available to buy. A really excellent place & sure to return.

Hello, I live many miles from the shop, but spotted them on-line and they sell the water I’ve wanted to try for a long time, also Mexican Cola. I placed an order, they needed to replace one of the items and I asked they just choose me something they would recommend, they chose a delicious sauce/salsa. The order was really well packaged, arrived on time and is all delicious. Will be ordering again. Thanks so much.

I went to the USA & went to a Mexican B/party with Piñatas & these Mexican lollipops & other candy came out & being English I initially thought they were terrible & thought how the hell do kids like these but now this big kid me is totally addicted to these spicy hot yet eventually sweet delicious lollipops. The tolteca chicken ones are nice Infact I love them all . The dark hard boiled sweets with the soft chewy centre (forgot the name) what tastes a little vinegary (brown sauce) they are also great . I had my friend ship me some over but after finding this amazing shop Mexican Mama that were quick to despatch & arrived within days. I will definitely be ordering more . I’m sure they have addictive substances in the ingredients because I was so relieved after finding this little gem of a shop so I could get my fix . 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ service . THANKS to all the staff at Mexican mama for my quick delivered order .

It's an authentic Mexican store, BUT when I went shopping I picked up some flour, they had a sign saying 30% off. I picked them up and at the register they told me they weren't discounted, okay, no problem. Then, when I was about to pay, I happened to check the expiration date; it had expired a month prior. I looked for other flours that weren't expired, but there wasn't any blue flour that wasn't expired. After the cashier contacted the supervisor, they told me that the flour did have a 30% discount because it was expired. I understand that some products have a longer shelf life than the labels indicate, but I would like to know if I am buying an expired product and not find out by chance. I was about to pay full price for an expired product. If you're going, I recommend reading all the expiration labels on the products you buy.

Love this little gem of a shop. If you are into cooking Mexican food then this place is your Aladins cave. Impressive range and quality. And they are incredibly nice people too. They mainly sell online but i always prefer to go and pick up.

Fun quirky mexican import shop that also serves alcoholic drinks (micheladas, vampiros) with totopos. Super fun and infectious good vibes.
