I wish this incredible Mexican spot had a location in Denver, which is already known for its stellar Mexican food scene. The ambience here is truly top-notch; the moment you step in, it feels like you've been transported to a high-class resort. The outdoor rooftop patio at their Uptown location is hands down one of the best I've ever experienced.
Special shoutout to bartender Jen! We were there for a work mixer, and she went above and beyond to keep everyone happy and our drinks flowing. She's got that rare personality where you wish she could just hang out with you the whole time! I ordered a Mezcal Old Fashioned, and it was one of the best drinks I've ever had--Jen knew exactly what she was doing.
For appetizers, we ordered a variety, but the Tuna Crudo and Sopes were the stars. The tuna was incredibly fresh, and the mix of sweet mango with spicy chile was the perfect balance. The sopes, with their crispy yet soft masa cakes and tender, flavorful slow-cooked pork, packed a bit of heat that was tamed beautifully by the avocado crema.
The marinated shrimp were another standout, especially if you're looking for something light and healthy. The guacamole was fresh, and the thin, crispy chips were perfect with the smooth, slightly spicy salsa that I couldn't stop eating. The Lobster Fundito had a good chunk of lobster but sadly lacked flavor, and the Striped Bass Ceviche, though fresh, didn't wow me either.
Unfortunately, the Lobster Enchiladas were the biggest letdown. I expected a traditional enchilada covered in a rich sauce, but it tasted like they poured queso fundito over the tortillas, and the combination just didn't work for me.
That said, the atmosphere, service, and many of the dishes still make this one of my all-time favorite spots. I only wish they had one in Denver!
