Mexican Village in Detroit Has Been Damaged in a Fire | Eater Detroit

"The Shelby Township branch at 47350 Van Dyke Ave. — part of the same long-established operation — remains open and was contacted for comment about the downtown location’s fire. It continues to serve the same Mexican-American favorites (burritos, flour flautas, enchilada platters, and margaritas) while the original site is temporarily closed." - Serena Maria Daniels

Excellent food that came fast. The restaurant was packed... which to me is a sign of good food that people are willing to wait for. When we arrived we were told there would be about a 35 minute wait. We were seated after about 15 minutes. It was definitely worth the wait. The vegetarian nachos we ordered as an appetizer could have been an ample meal for 2! The chicken enchiladas were incredible. Our server was very sweet even though she was super busy on a Saturday evening. She was kind and had a smile on her face the entire time we were there. We would definitely go back. Great Mexican food as good as any out there.

Staff is always great and gets us in and out! They took pickles off their taco salad and they will always add them back in upon my request. That's my go-to with shredded chicken. Queso flameado is a must!! We sans the onions and hot peppers. Kids LOVE their enchiladas. My hubby loves the regular puffy tacos!!! By far my favorite salsa in all of Metro Detroit!

In the Utica area and searching for the best restaurant experience with all of your favorite Mexican food in a fantastic setting? This is it! •Atmosphere• This restaurant was very clean inside and out. The seating is spacious and comfortable and the mood is set with lively tunes and classic Mexican decor that takes you on a trip of your own south of the border. A great place for both adults and families alike, this local fantasy is a hidden gem! •Service• The service here was fast, friendly, and very professional! Our server Manuel was not only polite and very knowledgeable, but also made sure we didn’t need for anything the whole time we were there! We were seated immediately, checked on and catered to, and treated like family! •Food• This restaurant had all of my Mexican favorites but the flavors are unique to them and really stand out! That steak was marinated in some sort of Sangria that gave a deep sitting tasty flavor that I have never experienced and was so thick and tender I can’t get the taste out of my mind. The margarita pitchers are strong and freshly made and the salsa is addicting. I was truly amazed! This restaurant is a MUST TRY and I give it a a strong 4.5/5 flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Definitely recommend and will be back again!

Cocktails- great, my wife ordered the Green Iguana. Waiter- attentive. Food- you can definitely find better elsewhere. Price- fine. Salsa- the spicy one is good, the mild one tastes like pizza sauce. The place was really loud where we couldn’t even hear each other across the table, so that was mildly annoying. Probably won’t return.

Got seated right away, and was easily met with one of the nicest waitresses! The food was amazing. It came out so fast and was so delicious. I had the steak fajitas and the portion size was insane. I have enough left overs for another meal for two. Careful of the house margaritas....THEY ARE SUPER TASTY, and a bit strong (heck yeah).

Great experience! Waitress was on top of everything… she did a great job. Chips and salsa were great. The hot was definitely better than mild. Everything was authentic. Good came quick and was also delicious!!
