After years of hearing good things about this place, I finally decided to give it a chance. Holy crap, what a mistake that was. Why I didn't realize that most of the recommendations for this place were from suburbanite, non foodie acquaintances who are scared to death of ethnic food and think Outback Steakhouse is fine dining is beyond me. My mistake. If you're looking for good, authentic Mexican food, skip this place. Go a couple miles south to Las Tortugas or head to Oaxaca in Troy or Carnival Market in Auburn Hills...just don't go here.
This place has some of the most bland, unexciting MEH-xican food I've ever tried. As basic as it comes.
Normally I'm a chips and salsa junky, love the stuff. Needless to say at first glance I was a little annoyed by the up charge noted on the menu for chip refills. That disappointment departed when the first basket arrived. No salt, no flavor, reminded me of a catholic communion wafer. We didn't even finish half the basket. Rough way to start the meal.
For entree, I had the wet burrito. I'm not sure that the chili topping wasn't Hormel chili from a can, even worse, it was cold. The meat and bean filling were bland, Taco Bell quality ingredients.
My wife had chicken enchiladas. She had the same complaint. Her food was bland, flavorless and absolutely caked in entirely too much greasy cheese.
All in all, it was a terribly disappointing experience full of bland, Americanized versions of Mexican adjacent dishes.
