"Los Feliz’s legendary former Mexico City space is undergoing a transformation with new tenants aiming for a 2019 arrival. The restaurant doesn't have a formal name yet, but it is being developed by Alliance Hospitality Group, known for venues like Comoncy and Baltaire. The menu will feature modern Mexican cuisine, partly as an homage to the previous tenant. Construction is currently underway." - Farley Elliott

"A longtime dining staple in Los Feliz, Mexico City offers casual Mexican food, cocktails, and a friendly dinnertime atmosphere. Reviewed by The LA Times in the early ‘90s, it was described as having 'the mildly stark and edgy atmosphere of a diner in an Edward Hopper painting.' The restaurant is set to close in November after a 25-year run, with no firm final date of closure announced yet." - Farley Elliott

I've eaten here before and was looking forward to it again. They're closing for good at the end of November. There was an incident in the kitchen, evidently, and the restaurant was closed when we arrived. Sad.

One of our favorite places to visit. Highly recommend.

The place was pretty uncomfortable due to no air conditioning or fan blowing I had nachos with grilled chicken and I never seen nachos made that way and didn't really have a very good taste. Order a pitcher of margaritas and end up returning it because it didn't taste very good. The service that they provide was very good but the food and drink just didn't pass for me.

I am a bartender at a restaurant also located in the Silverlake area. I was recommended this place because my son wanted Mexican food for dinner and they supposedly serve great food and was kid-friendly. Though the server was nice, our first reservations came with the price of the food and the lack of a kid-friendly menu. When we asked about a few dishes, the server highly recommended a dish in question, so we ordered it. However, the server then became confused about the dish in question and had to have it literally pointed out on the menu repeatedly. Additionally, we ordered a vegetarian burrito for our son that lacked a description on the menu -- normally a vegetarian burrito that is not described is a somewhat simple bean and cheese burrito. When our food arrived we found the food to be sub-par, and the vegetarian burrito we ordered came out as a grilled vegetable burrito - though this makes literal sense, it should have been described. Furthermore, the other dish that he recommended was horrible. We only took one bite and told the server we didn't like it. No effort was made to fix the dish nor was it removed from our bill. Alas we came out with an $80 bill for so-so food with no efforts to keep our business. I will never return nor will I recommend it to any one of my friends or customers. As a matter of fact I will discourage anybody from going in. Funny that them not removing a $14.00 dish and trying to resolve matters amicably will truly end up costing them hundreds.

When we want absolutely outstandingly consistent excellent authentic Mexican food; excellent service; a warm yet him and energetic ambiance - we come to Mexico City. I've enjoyed this restaurant since the day it opened; their food is authentic, real, beautifully presented and as good as you'll find north of the border... we have NEVER had anything even approaching a bad meal here - never ever - and the margaritas are generous and delicious. The Solis Family has dedicated themselves to creating an institution that values its customers, its employees and its community. Love them and their exceptional fare. You can't go wrong at this place! Enjoy!

Flavor is good. Food takes way too long. They charge $1 for onions and $1 for cilantro if you order tacos, neither come with the tacos. The only restaurant in LA that charges for those things if you order tacos, unbelievable. Wait staff is nice but pretty obvious something is amiss with management.

Hands down my favorite Mexican place. The chicken flautas here haunt me. I can't ever find a suitable replacement for them at a closer location. Worth going out of my way for them. The salsa here is excellent, too. I always get a margarita when I come and it's the best restaurant to get them in my experience thus far.

Probably one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever been to especially considering the price and location. The dishes are uninspired and the meat is dry and apparently unmarinated. The green salsa and chips are the only thing I've ever had worth eating though it'll be a long time before I find myself here again for any reason.
