"As we've said before, finding quality Mexican food in New York City is like finding something on Bravo that doesn't make the planet dumber. Mexico Lindo is the needle in the haystack, and we've been satisfying our Mexican cravings there for years. A true family run establishment, Lindo has a homey feel, be it a quirky one. The best dishes in the house are the standards (tacos al carbon, fajitas, and enchiladas), although a few surprises on the menu keep things interesting. The black bean soup comes garnished with chopped red onion and banana, and is ridiculously good. Any steak dish is a winner, and the guacamole and salsa are very good. Note, if you're looking for a pomegranate margarita, then you've apparently stumbled into the wrong place on your way to Tonic East. Mexico Lindo is for those out to drink a few Pacificos and put a hurting on a giant plate of fajitas. Now you know. Food Rundown Sopa de Frijol Negro A fantastic black bean soup with big flavor, throw in chopped red onion and banana for some texture and sweetness and you're in business. Flautitas de Pollo These are essentially taquitos with smoked chicken, and come topped with sour cream and guacamole. The smoky flavor makes these a winner. Tacos Al Carbon In my opinion, this is the best dish in the house. The huge chunks of marinated steak are ridiculous on their own, but a cool jalapeño-cilantro sauce and some guacamole take these tacos to the next level. Fajitas Don't mess around with the combinations. Beef is the way to go when it comes to Lindo's fajitas. It's a special thing when a giant sizzling plate comes to the table. Carne Asada Con Rajas As we mentioned above, anything with steak on the Mexico Lindo menu is good. This carne asada comes with some roasted poblano peppers and will leave you smiling." - Chris Stang

The food was great and the staff was really friendly. The tacos were pricey, but among the best I've had, especially the meat could easily stand on its own merit. The mole poblano was delicious, if not too sweet, though the chicken was a bit dry. As the waitress promised, the homemade cheesecake was really good and its sauce had to be licked off the plate.

Google
My local spot for over 20yrs. When you are here you are like family. The drinks are strong & the food is good. Currently they have a limited menu due to COVID but it’s still mighty tasty!

Google
Really great restaurant to enjoy some delicious Mexican food. I loved the mixed protein fajitas with tortillas. They have outdoor seating right next to the street, which is a very unique experience. The restaurant has a very Mexican vibe. The service was great and prices were reasonable.

New fav! Immediately upon walking in I felt like I had left NYC. Comfortable atmosphere and great food. The ingredients are colorful, fresh, aromatic and tasty. This is a business that ownership takes pride in operating, and it shows. Will be back 👍🏽

Google
I "demolished" the Homemade Salsa and Chips!!! My meal was very tasty,, very happy with the portion size of the lunch special! I will DEFINITELY be going back!! Friendly staff, cozy restaurant! Nice break from work and the NYC cold day!!

Google
That food was just so good. My friend had the Mole Enchilada while I enjoyed the Chuleta (Pork chops) a la parilla. We shared a chips and guacamole apetizer and drank ourselves 2 passionfruit margaritas each! The food is impeccable and the service isn’t too bad. The place is beautiful and has the cutest Mexican house design. A little bit expensive but totally worth the treat.

This has been my go-to for traditional Mexican since moving to Kips Bay almost 15 years ago, when the brunch special was $7.95 and came with a cocktail. The dishes and drinks are always exactly the amazing same quality, as a top restaurant should be. Their last day is July 31st. I will miss the food, the smiles, and the excellent service. Countless brunches, birthdays, graduations, parties, sometimes brunch and dinner on the same day. Hoping for a miracle and to enjoy Mexico Lindo for another 15. I've been coming almost every day, in hopes I'll get tired of the food but we all know that'll never happen. Thank you for everything, guys.

Yelp
We've walked past this Mexican restaurant a million and one times. Never paid it much attention. Well...we've been to dinner 2x in 4 days! The food is legit! The salsa and chips are fresh made and both are great. I've had the carnitas and now the carne asada. The carnitas melt in your mouth. The carne asada is an actual NY strip steak with grilled peppers and onions on top. Rice and beans are also included in both dishes. The drinks are tasty and the staff, friendly and take really good care of you. If you plan to go on a weekend, I suggest you make a reservation on OpenTable.

Yelp
This spot was dope! Came by and was provided service by Mara, Lara and Moses and the rest of the team. They made sure my night went well. Their happy hour deal is amazing and will definitely return ! Thank you guys I'm fucking drunk now hahahs

Yelp
I'm giving Mexico Lindo 5 stars for the quality of their food and wonderful staff. Mexico Lindo was always a favorite. I wish they still had their superb Chile Relleno. Still, they are entitled to change the menu. I've lived in the neighborhood for many years and have taken guests there dozens of times. All have loved Mexico Lindo. If you want a great lunch special, order their ENCHILADAS SUIZAS, which are three chicken enchiladas w/ tomatillo salsa verde, queso cotija, sour cream & red onion...plus rice & beans and soda for $11.95. A superb meal.

Jerry F.

Yelp
Great food and service. Love their pitchers of Rose sangria. We like the fajitas as an entree. Also guacamole is excellent.

Cassandrea P.

Yelp
My husband and I came to dinner at Mexico Lindo for a date night and we were blown away! The service was amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food came out fast and hot and melting your mouth! The flavors are amazing! The drinks pack a punch and taste so good! After dinner and drinks we were able to fit in dessert, cappuccino and flan. The flan tasted home made and was so soft. We cannot wait to come back to Mexico Lindo for another dinner or lunch!!

Yelp
It took me a bit long to write this review and I always forget about going back here. There's a reason why they've been open for such a long time. It's not the best Mexican food you will ever have but it is a whole lot better then 90% of the other places in the area (outside of the local cart nearby my workspace/ I think I just realized why I forgot about this place, lo siento.) I have had the chicken enchilladas with mole/enmoladas de pollo several times and it is always tasty and the chips in the beginning are fine. Special note to their agua frescas, specifically their tamarindo. It is nicely sour and they give you just as big a glass as some of the Mexican carts. The service is fine and the food is fine. Low 4.

Yelp
I feel there's a new Mexican spot popping up like in every NYC corner. Mexico Lindo in the Kips Bay area though, has been long-running...for 47 years! Lindo is more about comfort food. And by the way- it's far, far away from the whole farm-to-table flow, diet fads or the latest trends we all know. And if Tacos are what you're looking for- this isn't it. Instead, it's more entrees than anything else: stewed Fish, Shrimp dishes, meats, etc. Lindo's style is cozy, almost villa-style with brick walls showing through. Decent-sized dining space, small bar area at the far end and a cozier seating area with 26th St's side view. Aside from a few folks dining in the main area, we practically had the area to ourselves by the window side. Service was friendly from the guys on the floor and our server Ely. And let me not forget... Old school Salsa with Frankie Ruiz, Jerry Rivera and so many others- played throughout the night. Since I'm detoxing majorly, Tamarindo Juice was it- and boy....that sh*t was amazing! While hubs had the Sangria which he said was, "good". I really wanted to start with a Nopales salad- but none is available. Guacamole was freaking fresh though- but agree with someone else mentioning lots of chopped onions in it. My Camarones al Ajillo's were good. The hero-type bread was a bit unusual but hey...I dunked that sucker right in the garlic sauce (the hell with Keto!) and hubs liked his Chicken Fajitas with fresh veggies- down to the mushrooms. I don't mind coming back here. Seems like Mexico Lindo has a knack for serving it up real good...for this long in these parts.........despite their 3 & 1/2!

Yelp
Unfortunately we had a large party come for dinner 2 days ago, and at least 7 people experienced persistent diarrhea and chills after eating here. They're still having diarrhea after 2 days. They had the steak fajitas that barely had any steak on their plates (seems to be the source since they all ordered this) and a margarita pitcher that had a tiny bug found inside of it. Definitely will not be coming back here as there are some food safety concerns here...

Sumana K.

Yelp
Ate here for dinner on a Saturday night. We walked in and were seated at a table outside for 4 within 5 min. Safely precautions were followed closely as the waitress wiped down the entire table and chairs and changed the tablecloth. We shared a pitcher of margarita along with nachos, veggie enchiladas and a chicken quesadilla. Everything was delicious! A solid option to satisfy that mexican food itch.

Thomas E.

Yelp
Wonderful food. Challenging service. Was told a pickup/takeout order would take 15-20 minutes. I am still waiting about 40 minutes later. Ambiance fine.

Alex E.

Yelp
I was walking around the city. I wasn't really hungry since I had just ate an hour prior but I had time to kill. The food amazing. They even have some spicy sauce on the side for people who like it hot. The staff is very friendly and all work together. I asked for flan. It's as tiny as the restaurant but it was the best flan I've ever had. I'd post a picture of it but I had already ate it so I'll post my apps

Yelp
As a family, we've been visiting Mexico Lindo for almost 20 years. Whenever we're in Manhattan, we make it a point to visit. So right there- that- should be my review. Every meal here is delicious and the owners are friendly with everyone and strive to make your visit fantastic. On this visit we had a very large group - which sometimes meant our requests took a bit longer than usual. But what can I say when they bring us after dinner drinks for being loyal customers!!?! We love it here and you will too.

Sandy C.

Yelp
Wow! I had fish tacos made with cod fish, amazing. Truly authentic, not Mexican made for Americans. Came with rice and black beans, again delicious! Fresh, great food! Keep it up!. The service was also Great. I believe it's family owned, so they're taking care Of business! For real!!

Martin O.

Yelp
We've been going here for over 30 years.. it just gets better and better! The food is always delicious and they are always trying out new innovative dishes... the service is always professional and top notch (especially Moises the best!) and the atmosphere is lovely.. a small lovely restaurant filled with plants.. have the fajitas or enchiladas or anything! All great! Like being with family here.. go!

Sandra K.

Yelp
Always our go to Mexican Restaurant. Welcoming, delicious and all around delightful. The atmosphere is friendly and all staff is helpful. You found the right place to have a loving dinner or a party for a special occasion.

Evelyn G.

Yelp
Delicious food for Brunch on Mother's Day. Staff are so friendly and attentive. Definitely will return to sit at the bar area.

Yelp
It had been a while since I'd been here last, and I was out craving an afternoon snack. We stopped by and looked on their happy hour menu. $6 house margaritas, and $8 nachos. Sounds pretty good, right? The margarita was pretty good. About 1/3 of the glass was filled with ice, but the drink itself was of good quality and wasn't too sweet. Unfortunately, the nachos didn't live up. The waiter brought the plate over, and after I realized he didn't mistakenly bring the wrong dish, we burst out in laughter. On the plate were 6 chips. First of all, I don't think you should be able to count the chips on a plate of nachos just by glancing at it. You might think, ok, they went for quality over quantity. Again, that was not the case. The chips had two millimeters of bean spread on them with a generic cheese, and what was likely a canned jalapeño slice on each. The amount of guac could fit in a teaspoon. We could not believe that they can get away with selling this dish for $8. They should be ashamed of themselves. I've really enjoyed their mole dishes in the past, and I think it's fine for them to charge more for those. But please don't make us pay $8 for six chips.

Rick P.

Yelp
Food was not very good. Price was expensive. Service was slow. Bathrooms are gross. Needs a major update.. Not very authentic Mexican food.

Dino A.

Yelp
Pretty solid vegetable fajitas served with a ton of different vegetables. I went here with friends and it's a pretty good place for groups. Location is central around the Murray hill / gramercy area. I have had better fajitas in the city, but these stand out for being very filling.

Sophia B.

Yelp
TLDR; If you're a Californian and you're missing good Mexican food, come here. The worst part of moving from California is not having access to incredible Mexican food every five miles. It's a reality I've come to accept for all the perks of living in New York. HOWEVER, my California friend found this place to satisfy all of our Mexican food cravings!! It's more of an upscale place, and I can respect the price tag given the quality of the food (even though a similar caliber place in California would be $5-10 less depending on the neighborhood). My friend is obsessed with the steak fajitas, and I went for the shrimp fajitas. The meat was insanely flavorful, the veggies were crisp and delicious, and the sides (rice, beans, and guac) were perfect. If you're reasonable, you can easily get two meals out of this dish. The margaritas were amazing, the food was incredible, and the atmosphere is fun. Will most definitely be coming back.

Gigi A.

Yelp
Mexico Lindo offers authentic Puerto Rican and other Latin American delicasies in addition to the standard Mexican dishes and that is what sets it apart. I had a the Ropa Vieja, a South American braised beef stew with peppers. It was served with plantains, rice and black beans. My dining partner had the Carnitas and it was *not* the pork from Chipotle. He was served a manly portion of juicy, tender, probably deep fried chunks of flavorful pork. That was served with rice, beans, pico de gallo and guacamole. We also ordered a side of tostones which were crispy on the outside, mushy on the inside and perfect all around. I didn't like that we had to wait 10 minutes for water to be brought (we walked there, it was August, I was thirsty and bitchy) but overall, the service was fine. Great experience and I can't wait to go back and order everything else. Tip: Check in on Yelp for a free shot of tequilla. When we went there was a guitar player/singer. Nice touch.

Aanchal K.

Yelp
I found Mexico Lindo when I was searching for a place with sangria. I haven't eaten the food there, but it smells and looks delicious. The restaurant is cute and cozy, and a little fancy looking. The staff is kind, and greets you with a smile. Their sangria is some of the best sangria I've ever had. It's sweet (but not too sweet!), fruity an strong.

Alfie S.

Yelp
Mexico Lindo is just - okay -. Honestly? Their food is hit or miss. Their service is good, and their homemade tortillas are out of this world. My biggest gripe would be their fajitas, which my partner ordered. Here's why I'm upset about the fajitas: they included mushrooms (which I'm allergic to). First, who puts mushrooms in fajitas? Never heard of that before. Second, if you're going to include something not traditionally in a dish, at least notate it on the menu. It's a shame that Mexico Lindo didn't live up to their reputation, because I live a few houses away and always smell their delicious food. It's a little overpriced, especially for what it is. I wish I enjoyed them more because I'd definitely go back. Regardless, Mexico Lindo has some quality parts, but could be better. My hunt for good Mexican food in the area continues.

Becky F.

Yelp
Mexico Lindo is a great local spot that has an excellent happy hour! The frozen margaritas are so good and are about $6-9 dollars depending on if you add flavors. There's food included in the happy hour deals too! Outside of happy hour, the prices are still very reasonable and the service is always friendly and fast. Very vegetarian friendly and vegan friendly too if you get the vegetable fajitas!

Loren C.

Yelp
I live right around the corner from this lovely restaurant. I dined here with a friend last week and it was all around a great experience. The food was amazing and the service was excellent.

Sandra P.

Yelp
this place is EXCELLENT. I've ordered food from there for my husband and me. love everything. recently I ordered for a small dinner party. the presentation was beautiful, all our guests raved about the food. it was ready for pick up at the time agreed. i would recommend this restaurant for any size order, the service is amazing.

Ceren A.

Yelp
I came here for the first time tonight. What a treat! It has a very cosy feel and was nicely (but not overly) decorated for the holidays. It had very reasonably priced meals and very good margaritas for $6 (amazing!). Then came out the Mariachi and gave us a great ambiance while we enjoyed our food. I only have good things to say about this place: good food, good ambiance, good service.

Lucy A.

Yelp
My favorite Restaurant in the neighborhood!!! I've been going there since 1989!!! And I still go two-three times a week!! I love this place because I can have Mexican food or food that is more like what I grew up with, like tostones, chicharron de pollo (fried chicken-my favorite!!). Another favorite are the pork chops!!! Sooo good!! But, really, everything is yummy here! The staff are all family at this point, including the owners (Claudia and Lara are terrific!!!). My favorite drink is the mojitos!!! Sooo good!!!

L H.

Yelp
Come to this place! It is old school NYC, open since 1972! Owners are extremely friendly and go out of their way to know the regulars. I have been coming to this place for 20 years and the food is always fresh and tasty. Prices are fair considering all the extras you get with the meal and hefty portions. Best menu pics Carnitas Fajitas Mole Carne Asada Enchiladas

Stefany W.

Yelp
Drinks were top-notch but the food was a bit meh. The complimentary chips and salsa were nice though. I got the enchiladas with ground pork and it was just okay. The tortillas didn't seem to be of high quality and was a bit soggy tasting. But I enjoyed the rice and beans though. My date got the rojas which he seemed to enjoy. This place is really close to my apt so maybe I'll stop by again but I might be on the lookout for a better place.

Kacie Z.

Yelp
Sooo this is not the first time I have Mexican food, but this is definitely the WORST out of the ones I tried. Came here for a coworker's retirement dinner. Its definitely over priced! Then for the food quality, I got a plate of bell peppers and onions, I really want to ask where is my beef?? where is my steak fajitas? All I see is greens! And it's doesn't even taste good. Bell peppers and onions have a strong flavor that take away the beef's flavor. The balance is totally off! The beef is dry and salty! Then the dessert is too sweet. My goodness! For that price, drinks are not included... I expect a better ambience, food quality and service for a $65 dinner. That one star is just for the jacket storage.

Karmela L.

Yelp
This Mexican restaurant has been around for decades and I know why .... The Guacamole is sooo good I ordered 2 of them one bite of the chip with Guac I was like I need 3 orders of these really......the staff is so quick on their feet true professionals and they know about eye contact when you need something they are there. The margaritas delicious and I ordered the veggie fajitas also great !

Dean I.

Yelp
If your looking for good Mexican food in NYC, this isn't the place. Small, overpriced portions that come served by unfriendly and rude staff. The decor looks like something from the early 80's. Drab, dark and dreary. There's a lot of great Mexican food spots in NYC. This definitely isn't one of them.

Monica S.

Yelp
Really, REALLY, bad place. Bad service, flavorless food, limited menu. We were starving and couldn't finish the food. Very disappointed.

Brianne A.

Yelp
I haven't eaten from here yet but ik the food is amazing because it's been around for years and I love the workers they are so sweet and I love seeing that they are still in the community . Ima eat there soon LOL

Jovana M.

Yelp
Awesome place, fajitas were great. Closest thing to authentic Mexican in the city. Will keep coming back.

Andrew C.

Yelp
Great people and great food! It's not easy easy to find real Mexican family style cuisine in New York and this place delivers every time!

Sandra M.

Yelp
Love this little spot. The ambience was laid-back and friendly. I need to admit that I really liked Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas. All of the staff are really polite - you definitely feel welcome and taken care of. Mexico Lindo Restaurant is pretty solid.

Ann Marie S.

Yelp
This place is so delish! Staff was so friendly and welcoming. Food was terrific. Pina colada was Devine.

Thomas C.

Yelp
I've been going To Mexico Lindo since 1990 and once again they did not disappoint. Me andmy girlfriend shared seafood paella that was delicious haven't had in a long time and guacamole was fresh delicious and what can I say about the margaritas fantastic my girl had more than me so I got stuck driving so happy they survived covid nightmare probably going next week now sit outside warm weather here I would advise anyone that likes Mexican food try this place you won't be disappointed

Karishma K.

Yelp
This restaurant is good but it's missing a differentiating factor of Mexican food. They don't have quesadillas which is very weird and the guacamole had too many onions. The enchiladas were good, but they were about to charge more for extra cheese. The drinks were okay, we got a margarita pitcher and it was very sweet. Overall good experience but not sure if I'll be back.

Komal S.

Yelp
We were running aorund New York city on a scavenger hunt. We needed to go to a Mexican resturant, and ran by this place. It was pretty empty when we walked in, but Claudia was a gem so we had to stay. We hung out by the bar with the coolest bartender. He made some amazing fresh mojitos, which were some of the best I've had in the city. Heck, our phones were even dying and they provided us with chargers so we could win the scavenger hunt! Claudia then made us these bomb.com chicken enchiladas with mole sauce... BEST ENCHILADAS EVER. The chicken was tender and the sauce was perfect! Decor could have used a little work to create a good atmosphere though. We ran into this place by accident, but I was so glad we did. The staff was amazing, the food was fantastic, and the drinks were the best. This place is worth stopping by!

Neel S.

Yelp
Came here with a group of 10 during happy hour leading into dinner. The drinks were very good and the food was surprisingly very good. I was expecting run of the mill food but this exceeded my expectations. From what I tried, the guac was tasty and my entree was good. I ordered one of the combo dishes that comes with a guacamole tostada, cheese enchilada, and bean burrito. The dish also came with rice and beans. I would come back here for the food and am looking forward to trying more dishes next time I come.

Diana P.

Yelp
Went there for happy hour and the food was Delish! Servers were great, even got a complimentary shot for checking in! The margaritas were good too for the price. Stop by y'all!

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Drinks are good for the price. The guacamole is the best thing in the menu. Some menus items looks like it came out the microwave

April D.

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, this is the place! Every picture I saw prior to going, sold me! The food was amazing! I had the Flautitas de Pollo for a starter and it was really tasty and fresh! For dinner I had the chicken enchiladas! They were pretty good I would have liked a little bit more spice but overall, tasty! The portion sizes are plentiful! And the ambiance was nice and quaint!

Liz C.

Yelp
*** Decently priced, Friendly staff, Good food *** Came here with a friend to grab a quick lunch bite. There were lunch special items ranging from $11-12; great portions. I got an appetizer item which was still just as filling ($8). They charge extra for sour cream; it's not a big deal, but I wish they had told me prior. Overall, great environment, comfortable seating, accommodting staff.

Angel G.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I decided to give this place a shot and were not impressed. We sat down across from each other but later on decided to move two tables together to be right beside one and other. The waitress quickly said something to another waitress and then she came up to me and said we aren't allowed to do that. However A couple right beside us did the exact same thing so I decided to say something and she quickly said no that's not allowed. I didn't back down and she moved my girlfriend and I to another table(pointless). The table we had was free and remained completely free throughout our stay. The food was not good the meat was almost identical to Taco Bell. My girlfriend also found a hair in her rice and beans. Shout out to the busser and the owner they were very nice to us but the rest of the staff were rude and unprofessional. I don't recommended this place there are way better Mexican restaurants with far better service. Spend your money somewhere else this isn't authentic Mexican food.
