Amazing selection of mezcal. Impeccable, with tasty garnish. Food is very solid. Will definitely suggest you stop by your first night so you can come back again!

We stumbled across this place while trying to escape the touristy area of the malecon. A woman was so welcoming and inviting we couldn’t pass up the experience. The mezcal tasting was so informative but the mole tamale was next level. So good! The area is filled with the coolest lil restaurants and shops.

This truly exceeded expectations! Our server Andrea, started our experience by walking us through our general flavor profiles so she could match different Mezcals for us to try. And then we were off on a great journey of discovery! It was great to taste the vast difference between different Mezcals and learn about various regions, etc. The vibe of this place is also super cool, hipster, and you should definitely sit outside. Hopefully you'll get to meet the house cat - Tarzan!

Wow wow wow! I cannot say enough about this wonderful spot! The service was fantastic and the waitress even took her time sharing her favorite mezcals with us. We felt like we had a private tasting. I think she shared they have over a hundred mezcal options. Food bites were also very tasty. Great vibes on the back patio. Highly recommend.

We stopped by for drinks not expecting much more from a standard bar. Our server was very attentive and helpful in answering our questions. Her suggestions of Mezcal tastings were on point of what we were looking for. Their Mezcal selection is impressive to begin with. Plus the cocktails are delicious and interesting without being overly sweet. If you would like to sample mezcals with knowledgeable staff, this is the best place to go.

Popular for a good reason. Atmosphere is the best and drinks are delicious. That plus friendly/happy staff - definitely a must stop for an evening cocktail.

I went here on New Year’s Eve and had a great time! I sat at the bar and had a mezcal tasting. The bartender told me a lot about the different types and was very knowledgeable about the bottles. We had a great and it wasn’t too busy or crazy, reasonable volume for music too which was great for chatting.

We basically lived at this bar during our trip. The best. Incredible fresh made juices to make mixed drinks—every single one on the menu is the bomb, insane mezcal options, Andrea is our new best friend and Saturday was POPPIN for the night scene. Best part of our trip—sad they are closed on Mondays 😭

Besides the great mescal selection, we had a great quesadilla and even more epic brownie de mole! Went twice in one trip here.

La Miserable is such a fun spot, one of our favorite stops in La Paz!!!! We loved it so much that we went twice during our trip. It's lively, vibrant, and just has the best energy. The first time, our group of four sat outside in the courtyard, which was so cute and had a great atmosphere. Their mezcal selection is incredible--everything from Espadín to Tobalá to Madrecuishe. We were so excited to see mezcal from one of our favorite places in Oaxaca on the menu! The server was super fun and kept the good vibes going the whole night. We ended up staying for two hours (and even canceled our dinner reservation somewhere else) because we were having such a great time. The food was amazing--we shared tamales and chicharrón, which paired perfectly with the mezcal. The courtyard was amazing, the music was awesome and it was just such a fun scene. A few days later, we went back and sat inside, which was just as great. We ended up chatting with the table next to us and loved being able to try so many different mezcals while learning about each one. That's what I love most about a good mezcalería--the chance to taste, learn, and truly enjoy the experience. La Miserable has everything: a killer mezcal selection, a welcoming vibe, and great food. If you're in La Paz, you have to check it out. Can't wait to go back one day!

Very good experience! My brother and I walked in, sat at the bar and were served immediately. The server was very kind and tried to work with me since I'm not much of a Spanish speaker. The ambiance is very welcoming and there's a lot of history on the walls. We both got a Mezcal cocktail they call the Dolores and it was very delicious. A good mix while still getting the mezcal flavor. We also got 2 oz mezcal shots and they serve it with a plate of oranges with Tajin depending which mezcal you order. Very good. A nice, smooth, citrusy flavor paired well with the oranges. I don't believe they serve food here but experience overall was very good!

Been to La Paz twice, and we always stop in this spot multiple times while we are there. Excellent mezcal selection - with many you won't find anywhere else. Lots of small producers. They have a limited cocktail and food menu, but most people are just drinking beer and mezcal anyway. My only wish is that the staff seemed more interested in helping people who aren't knowledgeable about mezcal. They seem a little put off when you ask for help. But overall I love the ambiance, and we will be back next time we are in La Paz.

We were recommended this by locals. I love Mezcal & I'm trying to get my partner more into it. Well after this visit, he is convinced Mezcal is one of the best. Yes! We did a flight & were educated & entertained. I'm sure I spent more $ here than I anticipated, but if you want to try some small batch ones, you gotta pay. Totally worth it! We also tried crickets. Not on my tops, but I have always wanted to try them. The outdoor patio seating is majestic. Do yourself a favor while in La Paz, treat yourself to a Mezcal tasting. It's part of the culture.

Come for the mescal, stay for the tasty and authentic Oaxacan snacks. Chapulines are like 6-legged French fries - they need to be cooked just right and served up fresh. These folks get it, and their banana leaf tamal is likewise fully legit

Great vibe at this mezcal bar. The crowd was vibrant and young, the drinks were on point. I'd definitely recommend going here with a group or on a date.

Wow wow wow!! What a gorgeous little bar with amazing cocktails and cocktail knowledge.. This place has such a great cocktail bar vibe w no pretension. The guys are knowledgeable and kind the patio is cute the mezcal is abundant but even my friend who didn't love mezcal gained more knowledge and loved the cocktails she had. Did I mention so reasonable in price ? Such a gem!

Wonderful mezcal bar. Great decor and atmosphere. The outdoor patio is beautiful and comfortable. The staff is very knowledgeable. Fernando and Pablo both helped us pick mezclas that fit the flavor profile we wanted (I like smoky, my wife likes sweeter). They also took the time to explain the history behind each mezcal. We went back several times and enjoyed each time. The staff is great and the selection is top notch. Highly recommend.

My favorite restaurant/bar in La Paz. The plant-lined patio is awesome, the music hits you right in the "elder millenial feels", the crowd is a nice mixture of Mexicans and foreigners, the food is simple and delicious (especially the Oaxacan tamales), and the selection of tequila, mezcal, and beer is great. The staff were friendly and helpful, but don't hurry you. To top it off, it's cheap. (I really hate to say this, in case they raise prices before my next visit. ) You're paying prices aimed at upscale Mexican tourists (MX$65 for a tamale, MX$45 for a cheap beer, MX$80 for a craft beer, or $140 for a fancy mixed drink), which are much less than what you pay at many of the much-less-atmospheric and aimed-at-gringos restaurants in central La Paz.

Cool hipster vibe, knowledgeable and passionate mezcaleros, and great prices! While I don't normally choose mezcal based cocktails, I really enjoyed how refreshing the Soledad was with cucumber and chia seeds. My boyfriend tasted two different mezcals and we both received in depth information about each one as well as the history and area from where they came from. Highly recommend when visiting La Paz.

This place is a gem. Not just for La Paz - this place would kill it in San Diego (where I'm from), and really, anywhere else I can think of. I'll be honest, I'm not the hugest fan of mezcal since I'm not into the smokey flavors, and traditionally that's all I've ever had. But, we started exploring it more after having some great mezcal cocktails in Mexico City, and figured we'd give this place a go. This is the coziest, most down to earth little converted house with a beautiful bar, and the best employees. There isn't even a whiff of snobbery here, which can often be the case with little specialty places like this. Everyone is super friendly and passionate about what they do and they'll almost certainly find you something you'll like. They have huge selection from the largest mezcal distillers down to a one man show in Oaxaca. The cocktails are a great place to start, but definitely let the employees know what style you're interested in and have them test out a few different bottles on you. You can't come to La Miserable and not have a great night. We've been to La Paz twice in the last couple months, and probably have been to La Miserable about 6 times. It's just that inviting!

Truly a magical find in La Paz and a must see for anyone with a love of high quality spirits. A scotch, bourbon and tequila aficionado, I thought I had a start of an understanding of mezcal until I came here. Mind blown! They have an amazing selection of mezcal from all over Mexico - Guerrero, Michoacán, Oaxaca... and an incredible knowledge of the sourcing and production of these amazing spirits. Patient and willing to let you taste and explore, the staff are incredible and this was a highlight of my two weeks in La Paz. It's places like this that make traveling such a joy. On a side note, I find it humorous to see a previous review complaining that the menu is too focused on mezcal. It's a mezcalaria - it's what they do. That's like going to a panadaria and saying that there is too much bread on the menu. Salud!

Fun little bar with nice outdoor patio too. Guy behind the bar was very knowledgeable about Mescal but drink menu was too heavy on Mescal specific drinks for our taste Nice place for Mescal lovers, but not for me.

This place is a gem .. the knowledge , variety of mezcal and the passion that just emanates from its workers is outstanding, add a pineapple tamal and some enchiladas and you are set for a trip .

If you like mezcal this is the spot to go to! The place is clean and the owner is really knowledgeable and knows his stuff. The outdoor patio is a wonderful spot to enjoy your mezcal and a cigar It's got a very hipster vibe to it, but not uninviting. Been a couple times since arriving in la paz. We'll definitely be stopping by again.

A small and cozy mescal bar. I've driven by it many times, unaware of its existence. Glad to have spent some time there getting a quick immersion course in this amazing beverage! Will go back and highly recommend this night spot!

Very special, quirky, and romantic spot. The selection is large. Juan Pablo is a wonderful host. He will help you decide which to try. The cocktails were quality. We had such a great time we returned the following night. I would highly recommend drinking here. Bring your friends.

What a fantastic spot! The mezcal selection is impressive. Juan Pablo is incredibly knowledgeable. And both he and Fernando are extremely nice and fun. Juan Pablo also gave us some great suggestions of other places to check out while we were in town. Next time I'm in La Paz, I'll definitely be back.

Mezcal heaven. Juan Pablo will guide you through all. Maybe my favorite bar experience ever. Very hip crowd but not a bit stuck up. Go! Just take an Uber...cheap and much better than holding back.

Nice staff for foreigners to learn more about Mezcal. They were very passionate about good Mezcal and its origins. Try the grasshopper and a glass of nice Mezcal for the full effect, quite tasty. Maybe if you're lucky there are offerings of locally handmade Tamales offered sparingly.
