Where to Taste Mezcal in Mexico City

"Started in 2015 by Paloma Rivera Uribe as an experiment in peer-to-peer mezcal exchange, Tianguis Mezcalero has grown into an independent project promoting traditional artisanal mezcals through cultural events that pair mezcal with cuisine, music, and community traditions. By collaborating directly with producers and artisans, TM ensures fair practices and pricing, distributes mezcal to venues, offers tastings, training, and agrotourism experiences, and supports more than 50 families from 16 mezcal projects across nine Mexican states; tastings tend to suit more experienced spirits consumers with some Spanish—follow @tianguismezcalero or email [email protected] for events and private tastings." - Lauren Mowery

The Chef at One of D.C.’s Best Taquerias Learned to Cook by Fending for Himself | Eater DC

"Nearby Mezcalero explores a broader sweep of regional Mexican cooking and recreates Mexico City street traditions, notably tacos de canasta: three guajillo-dipped tortillas heated to order and separately packed with beans, chorizo and potatoes, and chicharrones to mimic the steamed, perfumed tortillas sold by bicycle vendors. Opened in 2017 two doors down, it fills with crowds seeking tacos, enchiladas, and the same streetwise authenticity the siblings prize." - Gabe Hiatt

The waiter said try the mixed Mezcal drinks they are the best and he wasn’t wrong! The food was really good and interesting the guacamole with crickets on top was special. Had a great time the place is jumping at night, good music pounding along.

Nice atmosphere and location. We went in the early evening for a drink after shopping at the artisan market, so I can't speak to the too-loud music as other reviews have mentioned- it was very chill while we were there. The drinks were neither cheap nor expensive. I really enjoyed the cocktail and craft beer I had. Great service and the ginger creme brulee was delicious.

The place is great! Great choice if you want to drink with your friends. Better to get a bottle instead of individual drinks. However, Mezcalita is good choice. Not recommended for eating, food is pretty gourmet size. Only recommend the guacamole with chapulines.

Nice little spot to grab a drink outside and people watch. The service was quick and the prices were very reasonable. They have quite a few options so I’d love to come back and try a few out. The outside dining area is on a busy street but that didn’t bother us much. Come by if you’re looking for some tasty mezcal!

What a cool spot by the market! Had unique menu items like guacamole with roasted crickets (so good!) and enjoyed the mezcal flight. Beers are served with Clamato and a tajin rimmed glass to make tour own micheladas... salud!

An expansive selection of Mezcal to explore and sip as you take a break exploring the colorful neighborhood of Coyoacán. The smoothness and complexity of Mezcals make it a great choice.

Nice place to have some Mezcal. They also offer Mezcal tasti gs with 5 different sorts of Mezcal, and it costs around 400 pesos. You can also try some fried grasshoppers to enrich the taste.
